Preview - "Extract shape from busy background"
I am having trouble trying to use the "Extract shape from busy background" function in Preview.
I have checked the help menu and read all the tutorials I can find but can't figure it out.
It says in the help menu: 1. In the toolbar, choose Extract Shape from the Select pop-up menu.
I can't find "Select" in any pop-up menus or anywhere that gives me the option to "Extract Shape"
I went to customize tool bar but I couldn't find any thing.
Can anyone help me out on this one....

Anyway: I have some kind of a suggestion, but I must disclaim any notion that I am a 2D expert.
With that:
1) Start with an Area created from the Rectangular Shape defined by the bounds of your Image.
2) One 'row' of pixels at a time, find an x-coordinate where the transparency begins, and the coordinate where it ends.
3) Subtract this Line Shape from your bounding Area: using Area.subtract(new Area(Line))
In theory, this leaves you with the Area you desire; and you might be able to convert this into a GeneralPath using the Area's PathIterator.
I have no idea what you'll end up with! I made this up just by reading the API. I do not know what the resulting GeneralPath would be composed of! It might be nifty or it might suck: If the implementation is capable of optimizing adjacent points then the PathIterator will be reduced somewhat. Otherwise you could end up with a large number of very short Lines and this may not scale to a reasonable size. But you might be able to run a test and see what the implementation is doing.
Don't send me any Duke Bucks unless it surprisingly works correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can do this a couple ways:
1) Use the Magic wand to select the white background and
delete it, then
touch up the edges around your subject.
2) Create a vector or bitmap mask to hide the white
background. This is
more flexible and less destructive to the original image, as
no pixels
are actually deleted from the image. This is the method I
would recommend.
Vector masks give you more control over fine tuning the mask,
and it
will give you a chance to get some practice with the pen
tool.

Cropping shapes from a background
hi there.. i have an sort of urgent question that is costing me my mind
i have a document with a jpg background. over this background, i got some coloured
vector shapes, letters, boxes etc - all with a "color-burn" effect, making the background shimmer
through and look pleasant.
now the thing is: i want the background to be only visible at the places, the objects are placed,
basically leave the rest of the background (around the vector shapes) blank.
is it somehow possible to crop the background around the objects?
i'd be gracious.
bPathfinder. It's hard to tell you any more than that without seeing a screenshot of what you're doing, but basically make a large "blank" box that covers all the shapes, select it along with the shapes and hit a button in the pathfinder panel. Not what you want? Undo and hit another one. Repeat as necessary.
Like I said, if you supply a screenshot you'll get more precise instructions... -
Copy/paste shapes from Illustrator also brings in a black background. Why?
When you copy/paste a shape from Illustrator into Muse, it also brings in a black background. Why does this happen and how do we delete it?
Thanks!It's a bounding box when you copy Vector from Ai and paste it into Muse the file gets converted to a Raster image.
you should copy the vector shape into Photoshop and scale to the size you need then export it. (Still Raster)
But you can also Export it as .swf and import that into muse and it scales nicely looks good in preview even after you resize the shape... (No bounding box)

I saw Corey Barker do a demo a few weeks ago where he extracted an image from the background, then used a technique I was not familiar with to clean it up. You selected the area, then did something that involved going either to edit or select, then there was a dialog box that allowed you to dial it in, depending on the color background you were removing. I can't find this anywhere. Can't remember. It's driving me crazy! If someone can help me find this, I would be very glad and grateful. Thanks! Laura
In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her. -

I would say either using the pen tool or the quick mask tool but without seeing how complex the image/background is I can't give you a complete answer...?

We need to extract data from a query to a flat file periodically, but each time 10 separate executions based on 10 profit centers, to get the separate files.
So, we have PC1, PC2, ... PC10 Profit centeres.
We have Query1, with profit center variable.
We have created 10 variants for Query1 so that we can execute for 10 profit centers.
Now, we have used RSCRM_BAPI to execute the Query1 and write to a flat file. Now we are having a problem in getting this feature used to execute the query automatically for 10 different varaints.

1. Loop Shape: SharePoint Designer 2013 support two types of loops: loop n times and loop with condition.
Loops must also conform to the following rules:
Loops must be within a stage, and stages cannot be within a loop.
Steps may be within a loop.
Loops may have only one entry and one exit point.
2. Utility Actions: It contains many actions, such as ‘Extract Substring from Index of String’ and ‘Find substring in String’.
Three scenarios
We need to loop through the string returned from the look up column and look for commas. There are three
scenarios:
1. No comma but string is non-empty so there is only one country.
2. At least one comma so there is at least two or more countries to loop.
3. In the loop we have consumed all the commas so we have found the last country.

There are two things to note:
1. "Find string in string (output to Variable:index)" will return -1 if doesn't find
the searched for string.
2. In the opening statement "Set Variable: Countries to Current Item:Destinations" set the return
field as "Lookup Values, Comma Delimited".

This is the brand new BI 7.3 system. Implementing the PSCD and TRM.
I have used the standard business content objects in FI-CA (dunning history header, item,activities) and standard Datasource (0FC_DUN_HEADER ,0FC_DUN_ITEMS, 0FC_DUN_ACTIVITIES). I have extracted data till the DSO level . when I try to pull the data to info provider level(cube) using DTP . I am getting fallowing error.
my observation: when ever I use the DSO as source to any target like another DSO or cube. its throwing same kind of error for any flow including simple Flat file .
please suggest any one whether do I need to maintain basic settings since its a brand new BI 7.3.
please help me out on this issue . I am not able to move forward .its very urgenthello

Bridge CS6 not creating preview extractions for .mp4, .mov .wmv or .avi
In all versions up to now when I would cache my folders with video files they would create preview extractions so that I could scroll through the video in the Preview Pane.
The only files that are doing this now are the .flv files (which ironically do not create a thumnail image, and never have in Bridge, but that's another topic altogether.)
I looked through all the preferences and I don't see a way to turn preview extractions on or off.
How do I "force" Bridge to create the previews and why did it not do it automatically like all previous versions have?

I have a brand 2 month old top of the line iMac with all the latest software and plenty of free space. This is definitely an issue w Bridge, not my computer.I was having an issue very similar to this. I tested it on CC, CS6 and both did the same thing. No previews and if i tried to purge the cache, it would stop responding all together. Then I noticed I had an eps file with no file extention. I went ahead and removed it from the folder and now everything works like it should. If the above option of purging does not work, try to remove the files and see if one of them is an issue.

Need to pre-populate and Extract data from static PDF form
Hi Jasmin or Jayan or anyone else that can answer.
I have a requirement to use Digital Signatures. Because of that, the forms must be static PDFs and the form variables will be “document form”. I want to pre-populate the form via an SQL query and custom render process and render it as PDF so that the submitter can apply a digital signature when he/she is done and ready to submit for approvalSubsequent approvers will also digitally sign the form. I know that I will specify the custom render to render only once and thereby preserve the signature(s) on the form. I do, however, need to extract data from the form to control the business process. I cannot access the data in the form the same way I do with an xdp and I also cannot pre-populate the same way I do with an xdp.
Any suggestions on how to attack this?Parth, one problem with your approach is he will submit PDF and therefore you won't be able to put the PDF in a variable that's suppose to contain just xml.
The prepopulation should be the same. If you start off with an xdp, then you will call a render service that merges data with your xdp to create a PDF.
Now when you submit, you will submit the entire PDF back in the Document Form variable. In Workbench, you can use the FormDataIntegration service to extract data from that PDF that's being stored under Document Form var/object/document and put it in an xml variable. Then you can just use xPath to do your condition.
I'm assuming you'll just pass that same Document Form variable to the next step, because if you do any change to the PDF it'll brake the signature.
Let me know if I missed anything.

Performance issue while extracting data from non-APPS schema tables.
Hi,
I have developed an ODBC application to extract data from Oracle E-Business Suite 12 tables.
e.g. I am trying to extract data from HZ_IMP_PARTIES_INT table of Receivables application(Table is in "AR" database schema) using this ODBC application.
The performance of extraction (i.e. number of rows extracted per second) is very low if the table belongs to non-APPS schema. (e.g. HZ_IMP_PARTIES_INT belongs to "AR" database schema)
Now if I create same table (HZ_IMP_PARTIES_INT) with same data in "APPS" schema, the performance of extraction improves a lot. (i.e. the number of rows extracted per second increases a lot) with the same ODBC application.
The "APPS" user is used to connect to the database in both scenarios.
Also note that my ODBC application creates multiple threads and each thread creates its own connection to the database. Each thread extract different data using SQL filter condition.
So, my question is:
Is APPS schema optimized for any data extraction?
I will really appreciate any pointer on this.

Is APPS schema optimized for any data extraction? I would say NO as data extraction performance should be the same for all schemas. Do you run "Gather Schema Statistics" concurrent program for ALL schemas on regular basis?

If there are SAP Retail & AFS system with different master data and transactional data , how can I extract master data and transactional data from these two system into SAP BW?
For example , if i want to extract the stock management data , how do I create the two Souce system in BW, both as SAP souce system or not?

Yes, both should be created as SAP source systems.
2. If I want to extract the master data of 0MATERIAL , should I do the extraction job from the two source system with "0LOGSYS" ?
You have to understand the business process of how material master data flows across these two systems with the help of the functional team.
In our scenario, we have not used '0LOGSYS', because the same material code coming from both the systems were one and the same.
3. If I want to extract the transactional data of stock movement data from both systems, which infocube in BI content can I use?
I suggest you implement standard business content ( 0IC_C03, I guess ) and utilize that for one source system ( Say AFS). Copy this cube into Z cube called ZIC_C03 and connect the retail data sources to this cube. If you want to combine stock reporting from both the systems, you can create a multiprovider on top of this.
