Hi,
You can create a logical column in repository BMM Layer in that Fact table using AGO function so that you can display previous month\qtr\year level values.

SSRS Expression Help, Default to Current Month UNLESS it is the First Day thru the 5th Day, then go to previous month?

Hello,
I need to write an expression for the default month parameter for a report.
Report data is imported on the 5th of each month for the previous months data.
currently my expression is this =IIf(Month(DateAdd("m",-1,today ()))
I need an iff statement that says if todays date is 1-5 then set the default to (Month(DateAdd("m",-2,today ()))
Ill then display a otherwise hidden text box that reads the previous months data is not availble untill after the 5th, displayed is data from 2 months ago, or something to that effect.

Getting data in a query on last date of all previous months

Dear Experts,
I need your help with a query.
I am trying to create a query which when run should pick the number of Open Sales Order on the last date of all the previous months from the start of company.
I could create the query for fetching the required data on last day of the previous month, say today is 25th June 2014, so my query only fetches data for May 31st 2014 but I need data for all previous month, May 31st 2014, April 30th 2014, March 31st 2014 & so on.
Please advise how to achieve this is SQL query.

Defining last day of previous month in ABAP

All,
I am a BW guy and hardly know ABAP. I have a requirement where I have to calculate last day of previous month and use it in the routines of the transformations.
I have decided to define the Last day of previous month in Start routine and then use the global variable in Transformations to calculate further.
The logic that i have used is outlined below.
         Define G_DATE in global declaration for further use in Transformations.
In the Routine section,
        Assign G_DATE to SY-DATUM
        G_DATE + 6(2) = '01' (Replace last to field of date with '01' to establish first day of the current month)
        G_DATE = G_DATAE - 1 (To get to last day of previous month)
My dilemma is to implement this in ABAP in Start routine of transformations. Please include the exact ABAP code that would be needed in Declarations and Routine section.

Go with the function module: LAST_DAY_OF_MONTHS
So, Just determine the last month from the sy-datum and then use above function module and pick the last date of the month.

How to Include previous Month/Year in Transformation

Hi,
From Source System (DB Table;DB Connect)
Location_ID,EMP_ID,AMOUNT
There is no date field avaliable in the source system.
The Data load to BW will me Monthly frequency...I,e:Data will be loaded once in a Months on 1st of every month.
My requirment is to Include a date field in BW transformations which input previous month/year data for every record
How can i do that and wether do i need to write a start or field routine in transformations

You could use the following code to achieve this:
DATA: v_calmonth(6) TYPE c,
v_month(2) TYPE c,
v_year(4) TYPE c.
v_month = sy-datum+4(2).
v_year = sy-datum+0(4).
IF v_month = 1.
v_year = v_year - 1.
ENDIF.
IF v_month = 1.
v_month = 12.
ELSE.
v_month = v_month - 1.
ENDIF.
CONCATENATE v_year v_month INTO result.

Parameter for Current Month and Previous Month

I'm trying to create a parameter for current month and previous month based on the ex_date, but not sure what i'm doing wrong.
where ex_date = @SelectDate
I created a second dataset below for the values in the parameters.

Once I preview it I get "Conversion failed when converting date and/ or time from character string" I changed the data type to "date/Time" but that did not make a difference. The date is convert (varchar(10), ex_date, 101) so looks like
11/12/2014.
I've also tried expressions like =month(now()) to pull current month with same error so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. Any ideas?

i tired this real simple report
in the first dataset - my main report query - select name from sysdatabases where month(crdate())=@month
in the second dataset - select month(getdate()) as Month1
in the parameters - choose int data type and available values - select the second data set
in the first data set- add this parameter..( i am assumming you know this, since you have done)
in the preview you should get the drop down with current month number - 3
and if you run the report, it will display the database names that were created in march. remember we are no checking year, so will get all that were created in march across the years.

I'm looking to have the dropdown say "Previous Month" and "Current Month" as a option. I know how to get the information in SQL, but not sure how this translates or put into a parameter.

Please tell me how to add the records of last 7 days of previous Month for the same report.

If you have more than a year data in your database then your formula will return wrong results. ie. If your data consist of 2012,2013,2014 data then below formula will return all 8th month data irrespective of year. So, you need to check year also here
month({PROBSUMMARYM1.OPEN_TIME})=month(currentdate) and
Year({PROBSUMMARYM1.OPEN_TIME})=Year(currentdate)
Now add Abhilash second statement in OR so, your formula should look like :
(month({PROBSUMMARYM1.OPEN_TIME})=month(currentdate) and
Year({PROBSUMMARYM1.OPEN_TIME})=Year(currentdate))

Is it possible to post the Excise invoice previous month date.

We want to post a excise invoice with previous month date. Is that possible?
We have created a billing document (VF01) last month (October) and not created Excise Invoice (J1IIN).
Now our finance people requirement is to create the excise invoice with last month date.

Yes quite possible provided your FI period is still open. Once you execute J1IIN and clicked the tab "Billing", you can see a field Posting Date where you maintain the billing document date itself if FI period is open.
But from excise point of view, this is wrong due to the fact that excise returns should be submitted on or before 3rd of every month in which case, the excise team would have submitted the returns for October.

Month name displayed in month calendar view for previous month

In iPad IOS 7.04 iCal month view the month name displayed at the top of the window is incorrect. The previous month name show when viewing a calendar month. Test by selecting year view and the any month from the year. The month view will be for the selected month, but the month name will be for the preceding month. The incorrect month name in month vie is also displayed if the month view is scrolled to new months.
I observe this on my iPad II.
Ha s anyone seen this error? Does anyone know if Apple has seen this and has a plan to correct it?

Imhave the same exact problem on my iPad2. It was not fixed in the recent iOS 7.1 release, even though modifications were made to the calendar app. Very frustrating, since this is such an easily observable problem.

How to Get Previous Month Salary for a particular employee?

I am developing a report to get the Net Pay Difference from Previous month.
I am using logical database pnp.
My question is how can we get the last month (Previous from current selected month) salary of perticular employee. I read the thread which is related to this but I can't understand the reply's. I think it is due to that I am new in ABAP and my experience in only 22 days. If someone reply with code example then it will more helpful for me.
Also If you can tell me the table name from where we can get the salary of particular month of particular employee then it will also helpful for me.

Payroll data is stored in cluster tables.
You can either use macro for retrieving the data or Function module.
1. Use FM -CU_READ_RGDIR for getting the RG directory values.Pass
employee Number and molga.You will get all the sequence Numbers from this
FM.
    The last record will be the latest one.
2. Then Use FM - PYXX_READ_PAYROLL_RESULT for getting the payroll
     results table.Pass cluster ID- 'IN' ,pernr ,sequence number for which period
      you want (In your case ,current period minus   1) and
      READ_ONLY_INTERNATIONAL            = 'X',
3. You will get all the results from PAYROLL_RESULT                     = it_result
Then you can loop this internal table like LOOP at it_result-inter-rt into wa..
Get the net pay value(/560 wage type)

How to get previous month data from current month values

I have made one universe from BW Query in which Fiscal year period is entered in interval.
I have made a universe from that and want to develop webI reports on top of that.
In my webI reports, i have used one cross tab. In Rows section i have added Company Code and in Column section i have used Fiscal Year/Period and in Value section i have added Sales Value. I want this value of previous month.
Requirement:
Ex.
                        Feb'09          Mar'09     and so on...
Comp_code1   Sales of Jan'09         Sales of Feb'0f         and so on....
I am getting this.
Ex.
                        Feb'09          Mar'09     and so on...
Comp_code1   Sales of Feb'09         Sales of Mar'09         and so on....
I hope i have clear my requirements.
Please help as soon as possible.

Hi Rishit,
Follow the below steps to get the desired result.
Step1: Convert your fiscal year period from char to a date in your database or in your designer however its feasible.
to_date('substr('009.2009',2)','mm.yyyy')
you will get the result 01 sep 2009
Step2: Convert this format to 01/09/2009 by using date functions.
Step3: Create a Detail associated to the 'date' field (typically your fiscal period).
Step4: Create a cross tab Like : Rows section should have Company Code and in Column section should have 'date'(created detail) and in Value section should be Sales Value.
you should get the following result.
01/02/2009 01/03/2009 and so on...
Comp_code1 Sales of Feb'09 Sales of Mar'09 and so on....
Step5: Use the following formula in your Column (date) formula bar.
=(<date>-1)-DayNumberOfMonth(<date>-1)+1
You will get the following result:
01/01/2009 01/02/2009 and so on...
Comp_code1 Sales of Feb'09 Sales of Mar'09 and so on....
Format the cell according to your reruirement.

How to show a report for 'Previous Month' Data

Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement, where i have to default my report to show previous month data.
Scenario:
My prompts by Default are set to CURRENT (current year,quarter,month). once the user logs in, the report should display data for month 'Nov' instead of 'Dec'.
I tried using TIMESTAMPADD() in the formula , but it didn't work, though i don't see any error. Not sure if i 'm missing something.
Is there a way to achieve this.I 'm using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.
Any help is highly Appreciated ! Please.

From what you wrote I am assuming the user can manually save the report results to the Excel file.
If your report uses ALV Grid it is possible to export the data to a spreadsheet (one of the functions available in the ALV tool bar).
If you have used WRITE statements it is also possible to save the output as a spreadsheet (menu System -> List -> Save), but the latter will not produce as nice a spreadsheet if the data don't form a matrix. In other words, some work may be necessary in the spreadsheet afterwards before it has the format your user wants.

First day of previous month

Hi,
I created a data parameter and I want my date parameter default value to be the first day of previous month, the expression {$FIRST_DAY_OF_MONTH()$} is pointing to the fitst day of current month and when I tried {$FIRST_DAY_OF_MONTH()-1$} it is just subtracting a day(thought to go back one month)...Is there way I can point my default value to first day of previous month.?

How to show Increase/Decrease of Sales Amount compare to Previous Month.

My users need to view the percentage decrease/increase of Sales $ compared to previous month, for each Month.
How can I create a Restricted Key Figures that show Sales $ Amount as of Previous Month (take note it is not just Previous Month from Current Month, but each Month's Previous Month). i.e
Nov 06 - Sales $ = 1000
N0v 06 - CKF_A - Variance Compare to Prev. Month: 100%
Dec 06 - Sales $ = 800
Dec 06 - CKF_A - Variance Compare to Prev. Month: -20%
(800-1000/1000)
Jan 06 - Sales $ = 1000
Jan 06 - CKF_A - Variance Compare to Prev. Month: 25%
(1000-800/800)
How can I create CKF_A and achieve similar result?
Most of the variables for 0CALMONTH or 0FISCPER seems pointing to one value only.
I don't want to create Restricted Key Figures for each and every month.

Sean,
You don't have to create RKFs for each and evry month. But you need to create just two RKFs.
Lets say that you want to display the months in rows and Sales in the first column and the variance in the second column. Just restrict Sales by the month characterstic with a user entry variable (range if it is more than one month the user wants to display), then in the next column create another RKF by restricting Sales with the same month characterstic. This time offset the first varaible by minus one (-1). In the properties of this RKF, select always hide option.
Now create a CKF (calculated key figure), by using the variance% formula option.
CKF = RKF2 "%" RKF1.

Help with Setting Previous Month Date Parameter for SSAS via SSRS

Firstly, any assitance is greatly appreciated.
Now, I am working on developing a report for a business area that will be sent on the first of every month. The report will contain data for all records created in the previous month, current year.
I have been able to successfully implement a default year parameter, which will default to current year-
="[REFERRAL LODGEMENT DATE].[CAL YEAR].&["+CSTR(Year(Today))+"]". However, when I attempt to set a previous month paramater it is not setting when the report is generated. The code I have used
is as follows:
="[REFERRAL LODGEMENT DATE].[CAL MONTH NAME].&["+CSTR(Month(Today)-1)+"]"

Before you spend more time trying to fix the parameter, let me suggest that you can write MDX to come up previous month data.
if you can't go that route, couple of things to consider for your approach:
1) don't subtract 1 from January that won't work. you'll need to handle it using the ssrs expression.
2) when you use the month function it's going to return a month index so effectively you are passing something like [REFERRAL LODGEMENT DATE].[CAL MONTH NAME].&[7] to SSAS, is that the current format?
you can use the MonthName function to get month names but again make sure that the formatting is right.
to see the parameter value, you can display it on the ssrs report and see if it's the right format.
