Previous server email

Did switching my internet to FIOS somehow disable my previous ip server email?  I can access my email from my previous server but I am not able to receive emails since the switch to FIOS today?  Coincidence?  Is it just a problem with my previous server email account or a block by verizon fios?

It has been mentioned lately that do to spam filtering issues, Verizon is blocking outbound mail to other providers mail servers, unless it comes from the verizon mail server. Webmail being an exception. TCP Port 25 for SMTP to be exact. Getting POP3 mail from other servers should not be a problem on TCP port 110. But outgoing mail will need to go through outgoing.verizon.net.
This is not only Verizon. I know where I work all mail must go through a secure mail server. Many networks have blocked outbound port 25 and other ports from making connections. This not only prevents spam but also makes the network more secure from hacking and viruses. All though I do not agree with the concept of blocking and feel you should be responsible for your own security. Many ISPs are tightening the belt.

  • My iPhone 5 suddenly started re-downloading all previously deleted emails from my POP accounts

    Yesterday, my iPhone 5 started re-downloading all previously deleted emails from my POP email accounts. I use the native Mail app and have three POP emails set up on my phone. The number of messages downloaded across all of them is over 1,000 so far and date back over several months. One of these is a Yahoo account, the others are work email accounts provided by two different hosting companies. I have not changed anything on any of these three accounts at the server/hosting level. I also run an IMAP account on my phone, which has not been affected, so this is obviously a POP-only issue. I started to delete the messages only to discover that older messages were downloaded in their place. There appears to be a cap of 250 messages downloaded at a time, but there's no way to change this in the phone's settings (this used to be a feature, but disappeared some time ago).
    I'm on iOS8.3 (upgraded a month ago with no affect on email). I have not changed any of my phone's email settings, so I don't understand why this has happened out of the blue. I have checked the phone's email settings and there doesn't seem to be a way to limit the number of messages downloaded.
    Does anyone know:
    a. why this has happened, and
    b. how I get it to stop?
    Thanks!

    Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
    First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
    Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
    When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
    I hope this helps, because it was incredibly frustrating. Good luck!

  • HT1277 My previous server address for me still appears in the list of my present address. How can I remove it from my computer?

    Every email I send automatically lists my old server email address, so with each email I must change my present email address as well as my CC email address (one is "sender", the other is CC). There must be somewhere in the computer where the old address is still stored. Can anyone help me. It's a bother to have to change the sender and the CC for every email.

    If you are running 10.6.8 (this forum) I'd suggest in the Mail menubar at the top, click on the  Window item and scroll down and select Previous Recipients.
    Locate your old email address and delete it.
    I don't know if 10.8 is the same, but you could try it and see. If not post back and I'll get your topic moved to that forum.

  • Why can't I use my previous MobileMe email address instead of creating a new one?

    Why can't I use my previous MobileMe email address instead of creating a new one?  When signing up for iCloud I'm asked to choose an email address [email protected]  I am already using an @me address via moblileme.  When i input that address it states that that address is already taken.  Try picking a new one.  I don't want a new one I want to use my mobileme address.  How can that be done?

    It appears you set up a new iCloud account rather than migrating your MobileMe account over to iCloud.  I migrated everything over this morning and am still using my old MobileMe email address.
    Check to see if you can migrate rather than open a new account.

  • Removed Facebook App - Lost all of my previously synced emails

    Hi All,
    Not sure if im posting in the right section but if not please let me know.
    Got a Curve 8900 in the uk on orange and was having a few problems with the calendar (when you added a new appointment it showed as a facebook calendar appointment no matter which book you used), so i removed the facebook app to see if that was causing the problem.
    Once i had restarted all of my previously synced emails have gone including all of my saved messages, is ther any way i can get this information back? Any ideas why this has happened?
    Thanks
    Robb

    ok, so do this:
    On your BlackBerry device, go to:
    1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.
    2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
    From your handheld device:   http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402
    Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.
    From your desktop PC:  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
    North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
    WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list
    3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.

  • ICal Server email invitations - how to test and get this feature working

    iCal Server email invitations - how to test and get this feature working
    Thanks Apple for introducing this nice little feature into iCal but then completely neglecting to write any sort of useful manual that can explain what to do when it doesn't work after you set it up for the first time.
    At long, long last we have finally got there after about 6 months of fiddling on and off, so I thought I had better post up the process since many have similar issues and it is hard to ascertain what is going on.
    Using an external email server was just a waste of time and it still wouldn't handle the replies properly even though it was supposed to handle '+addressing'. In the end I set up a special gmail account for the iCal server and finally got it working. I list here the process of configuring and testing the system to check that each little stage is working.
    Set up a Gmail account in Apple Mail to access and test in the usual way for any email account (e.g. [email protected].);
    Set the iCal server email to access the same email using the following settings:
    IMAP
    SMTP
    [email protected]
    smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 993 [x] Use SSL
    Port: 587 [x] Use SSL
    User & Pwd
    Login
    User & Pwd
    To test the settings:
    send out a test email from Apple Mail to a non-server email address that you can access to check it has been received;
    send out a test email from your non-server email account to [email protected] and check that it is received;
    this tells you that the GMail account is setup correctly and working
    Testing iCal:
    I noted that iCal was deleting any emails that arrive in the inBox in Apple Mail as soon as they arrived (this is to be expected);
    test that the invites are being sent from iCal by setting an event in iCal and inviting your non-server address (you may not see any sign of this in Apple Mail but you should catch it in the iCal server log and possibly in the Gmail sent mail box);
    check that the invite is received at your non-server account and Accept it in iCal on another machine - the reply is automatically sent back;
    the replies appear in Apple Mail but are quickly deleted by iCal. But their record for you to see is left in Gmail under 'All Mail';
    Accepted invites appear as a notification button on the top left hand bar on iCal where you click to acknowledge them and then the attendee is shown as a green circled tick instead of a grey circled ?.
    this shows that iCal invitations are working correctly. Whenever an event is updated, all invitees should be updated by email automatically.
    I hope this helps anyone - I could certainly have done with something similar when I started with looking at this.

    The Error and Access logfile in the Server app under iCal server are very useful in determining any errors. I got lots of imip errors when I didn't quite have the settings right. The port is critical and it won't tell you this is the problem if it fails.

  • IOS5 has restored over 7000 previously deleted emails to our i-pad. Is there any way of deleting them other than 'edit' and ticking them all off? It'll take days!

    iOS5 has restored over 7000 previously deleted emails to our i-pad. At this point, we cannot find a way to mass delete them. Anybody got any ideas?

    Problem solved by emptying deleted file on the computer and then deleting and re-installing email accounts on the i-pad.

  • How to delete ALL previously sent email addresses from *iPad*

    I use my Apple ID to set up my kids' iPad Minis, which in retrospect was not so bright.
    Now when my child starts typing the recipient's name for an email all of MY previously sent email addresses come up, many of which are work-related.
    I know I can click on the blue "I" and remove them one by one, but I have over 1,000 contacts - so one by one just isn't practical. Is there a way to delete them all in one go?
    Again - this is on the iPad mini, NOT laptop/desktop. I know how to do it on my MBP but can't find anything out there for the bulk deletion on the iPad.
    Thanks!

    Any idea how the addresses "synced" on there to begin with? Surely there's an "unsync" feature?
    My email addresses are not being used on the iPad so it must have something to do with my Apple ID.

  • Delay downloading Exchange server email

    I use an iMac with an ethernet link to cable internet service. Using Mail, I have a strange delay of 1-2 minutes before email downloads from an Exchange server. Interestingly, my MacBook, also using Mail, downloads the same Exchange server email almost instantly using an Airport Extreme with the same cable modem providing the cable signal.
    In fact, I just switched from a 2007 iMac to a 2010 iMac, used Migration Assistant to transfer everything from the 2007 to the 2010 iMac, and I have the same delay of about 1-2 minutes before email downloads from the Exchange server.
    The email always downloads--it's the delay on the iMac that's puzzling.

    It's hard to say based on what you posted.  I would guess that the VPN connection doesn't provide the complete name resolution you get when connected to the network internally.

  • What happened to my previous TB email system? Suddenly it's changed and I DO NOT LIKE IT.

    How can I go back to the previous TB email system? This new release is very difficult to use. I can no longer delete a message without opening it. When my mouse hovers over a message in the inbox, it does not open. I cannot immediately see that there's a new message; now I must notice that an existing message has been lightly underlined, then click on the arrow by that message to see the new message. I did not ask for this and it has thrown a major monkey wrench into an already stressful week.

    I use Saved Searches, or '''View|Folders|Unread''' if I'm in a hurry to find new and unread messages. But then when I've read a message, I file it. So I rarely have to sift through many previous unread messages to find the new ones.
    But all of your complaints about "new" behaviour, apart from the mouse-hover thing, seem to me to be entirely normal Thunderbird operation. So I'm very puzzled by what you see as changes.

  • TS3276 Mac Mail in Mavericks is randomly resending previously sent emails

    For some reason previously sent emails are getting randomly resent. This seems to happen most when the program restarts as my computer reboots. Is there a way to stop this from happening? This is confusing and annoying for my clients!

    Mail is not in my log in items. It opens, because it was open when I shut down.
