Print labview imaq image without border

I'm trying to print a labview imaq image by opening it in a new vi which is set to print on opening.
This works fine but, the size of the image can vary and the way I do it now, if the image does not completely fill the image frame, a grid is displayed in the area which is not filled by the image.

Hello Arend,
I attached a vi which you can use to read the size of the image you acquire and than scale the IMAQ Image Display according those settings. I also build a small example which shows how to use the subvi. They are both in the zip file. They are both written in LabVIEW 7.1 so if you're using an older version please tell me which and I will save it back.

I have recently started having this problem in PSE8. The Adobe workaround
did work, but I don't fancy having to re register each time I use it.
What I have discovered is that it's nothing to do with the image metadata as it occurs before any image is opened.
It SEEMS to only occur if you use file/open with to open an image in the editor - IE start PSE with that command.
If you close elements down, and start it using programs/PSE/Elements (or your desktop shortcut) - the panorama feature magically works.
Each time I've opened the editor 'automatically' using image/open with, it seems to create the problem.
    Hope this helps

  • Saving intensity image without border

I am trying to save an intensity graph to an image file, so what I've done is used the "Invoke Node" -> "Get Image" to capture the control display.  The image is then wired into "Write BMP File" to save the image.  The problem is that the indicator's border still shows up.  After I hid the X, Y, Z, label, etc from the intensity graph, it still does not capture the graph data by itself.  The border shows up, so when I made the indicator transparent, the background of the vi shows up.  Is there a way to get JUST the image out of the intensity graph?
My prior solution was to use the "Flatten Pixmap" function to save the image, but the color scale settings weren't preserved so my intensity images were very dark.  Maybe an alternative solution is to find a way to preserve the color table scale when saving?  Is there an easy way to do this?

    Hi AntLee29,
I am not quite sure of what you would like to extract from the intensity graph. Could you please post some screen shots of what you would like to see and what you would like to not see, I think that these would help me to better understand the question. Thank you and have a great day!

    Hi,
Attached is my VI (using labview 8.5) and am not sure where it is getting the color info from, but it saves the image as jpeg/bmp/tiff with colormap (confirmed by imread in matlab). Can someone help me save these images without colormap info.

    Hi Maverick269,
I noticed that you posted this question over on the Machine Vision forums as well. That will definitely be a better place to get this question answered, so let's work on the issue over there :

    thanks.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @horda ,
I read about how you are trying to borderless print on A4 size media and it's not working out so well. After checking the printer specifications (below), you can see that this model of printer does not support borderless printing.
I hope that helps clear up your concern!

  • Adding an "IMAQ Image.ctl" to the "Display State.ctl" of an XControl prevents LabVIEW from creating a probe of "Display State.ctl"

I am working on an extended IMAQ Display control using LabVIEWs XControl capabilities.
I need a copy of the original image passed to add some overlays which must not affect the original image. To achieve this I am creating a backup image in the "Init.vi" and deleting it in the "Uninit.vi". I am storing the reference of this image in the "Display State.ctl" which is part of every XControl.
As soon as I am adding an "IMAQ Image.ctl" to the Display State cluster, it is no longer possible to generate a probe of the Display State cluster for debugging purposses. I am always getting the message: "Failed to load or create probe."
Deleting the "IMAQ Image.ctl" from the cluster makes the probe working again.
Is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?
I am working with LabVIEW 8.5 and Vision 8.5.

    Hello Mr. Bartsch,
is it possible for you to post a small example to reproduce the behaviour? It would be helpful to get a description in which way you use the typedef files.
I found a example/knowledge base where some informations were included to XControl and LV but not with Vision.

  • Print image without resizing

I need to print some PNG images which are larger than one page.
Preview won't do this without resizing, but that will make the image unusable.
How can I print images across more than one page?
I tried AppleWorks (yuck) but images come out all fuzzy (and unusable).

I think PageStream & maybe even GraphicConverter could do it... PageStream could do it on my Ataris since about 1989, haven't tried such in the latest though, but did try printing out a square acre with it once... decided I couldn't afford the paper, but it was coming out true for the 1st 200+ pages!

  • Using IMAQ Image controls in LabVIEW steps

    Hi guys
So far, I was using TestStand 4.0 together with LabVIEW 8.5 and Vision Development Module 8.5 with no problems. Recently, I've updated to LV 8.6 and VDM 8.6. I've started to experience weird problems when using LabVIEW steps with inputs/outputs containing IMAQ Image controls. When I try to click on such a step in seq editor, or try to insert a new step into the sequence, the step initialization takes a very long time (tens of seconds) or freezes completely. I've also tried to upgrade TS to version 4.1, but no difference. Also, my colleague experiences very similar symptoms on the same software setup. The only difference is that on his machine, it takes only a few seconds when you click on the vision step. However, the steps not containing an IMAQ Image control behave normally, i.e. you can't experience any "initialization time" when clicking on them in the sequence.
To illustrate, I'm attaching a simple VI containing nothing more that a single IMAQ Image control. If you don't link it to the connector pane, the VI works fine when inserted as a TS step. If the IMAQ Image control is linked to the connector pane, TS freezes when inserting such a step.

    Hello Vladimir,
Thank you for posting on the NI Discussion Forums. This was reported to R&D (#123249) for further investigation. The only workaround I can offer for now is to work with the VIs from version 8.5 of LabVIEW if they have vision controls linked to the connector pane. Thanks for the feedback!

  • LabView 8.6 Imaq Image.ctl error when trying to probe wire.

I just installed 8.6 from 8.0. Now when I try and probe a wire I get a dialog that wants me to find the IMAQ Image.ctl file. If I cancel out of the window about three time it will finally set the probe. I do not have vision or IMAQ on this computer. Has any one had this problem? Is this another one of the times I get to uninstall and reinstall LabVIEW?

Does this happen for all of your wires that you try probing, or just one particular data type?
It does happen for all of the wires types.
Does the dialog look similar to the dialog that appears when you load a vi that can find the associated files, or does it appear as something different?
If I right click I get a dialog that looks very similar to the dialog that pops up when the associated files are missing.
I might reccomend installing vision acquisition software (only install the IMAQ driver, not IMAQ-dx) and see if this fixes the problem
Is this avaliable if I do not have a license for vision 8.6?

  • Printing individual slides without border problems

    Hello,
I'm trying to print out my slides that I have created in Keynote 9 so each slide will print to A4 width x height constraints(842x595 pixels). I wish to print the slides WITHOUT a border because the slide background has a colour right to the edge of the slide. When I go the print dialogue box, I uncheck ALL options so the preview contains no borders, margins, the slide will print to the edge of the page... great! But.... oh no, wait...... it's not that easy... when I print my fabulous design a border/margin of about 0.5cm all around the sides appear! It's even worse for my client who sees different margins when they print it on their printer. Yes, paper in printer is properly aligned.
Thoughts on why my document has margins appended to all sides when I print is MOST welcome, and how I can stop this will be even MORE welcome.
    Cheers

File > Page-Setup > Layout > A4 borderless (admitedly, not all printers will facilitate borderless but at least the template will facilitate it if the option is detected. (thanks Jerry)

  • How to convert imaq image to a 2D array without vision development module

    Hi,
I'm looking for a way to convert an Imaq image into a regular picture (2D array) without using "Vision development module", nor saving it to a file (I need a refresh rate of about One frame per second).
    any ideas?
    thanks,
    Gilad.

    Greetings,
If instead of attempting to acquire the image as the raw data as per the last example, are you looking for something then like the IMAQ Image to Array? I made some research and initially I believed this VI was part of the Development Module, but I was thinking of the Array to Image VI, which is why I did not bring it up earlier.
Finally, how exactly will you then be manipulating that array? Or will you simply be interested in displaying it?

  • How can I use or convert a imaq image to plot images back on waveform graph

    Hi
I am currently opening and manipulating (rotate and resize) a PNG image using IMAQ Vision in LabView 8.2.1 This works well and I can display the Image on the front panel using a IMAQ Image Control.
In addition to this I would now like to display the image as a background on waveformgraph. I can do this with the original PNG file by reading it and then flatten it to a pixmap ie make it a Picture but this is of little use as I need to use the manipulated IMAQ image.
Therefor I would like to know how to convert the manipulted IMAQ Image to right Picture Format (without resaving) in order to use it on the PlotImages.Back property node of a wavefrom graph.
I very much welcome your suggestions as I feel it should be easy yet can not seem to solve it. Thank you for your time!!!

    Hi Randall
Apologies for replying somewhat late but I have been out of the office for a few days.
Your suggestions and code helped me greatly and led to solving my query so thank you for that.
There is one more thing (well many many more but I will place new posts for those  however that you might be able to answer for me.
Following your suggestion to use the image to array function I searched through more examples and found the code that did exactly what I wanted to do. Please see attached.
In this code a For loop is used to add 65793 to the color table. It works very well but I do not know why it is used exactly. Can you exlplain? I also realize I never made it clear that I use grayscale PNG files rather then color images.
Thanks again for your excellent help, it is much appreciated.

  • Print part of image in CS4?

I recently upgraded from CS3, and I seem to have lost the ability to print part of an image.
I'm sure that in CS3, if you tried to print an image that was larger than the paper, you got a warning saying it would be cropped, but you could still move the image in the print preview to get the part you wanted. How do I do this in CS4, without cropping?

You can still do this in CS4.
In the Print dialog,  Center Image and Scale to Fit Media must both be unchecked, and Bounding Box must be checked.
Then you can slide the image around in the preview window as much as you like.
You can also drag the corners of the bounding box in the preview to manually scale the image.
Unfortunately, many printers will not print an image that extends past the printable area. If this is the case, you'll be able to go past the warning message, but the page will probably come out blank. If you can set your printer to print bleeds, then you can probably print the portion of the image that falls within the printable area.
(I was also going to explain how to set a pre-sized selection and then print just the selected area, but the "print selected" checkbox in the print dialog seems to be broken at the moment. So here's a pretty useful work-around that you may need to use if bleeds are a problem.)
    1. Select the Crop tool (C / Shift-C) and enter the width and height of your printer's printable area. You can enter "8.27 in" or "2750 px" etc. If you don't know your printer's official printable area, just allow about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of border (e.g., 8 in x 10.5 in for letter size).
    2. Then, in the settings bar, enter a reasonable pixels per inch for your printer (300 should work fine) in the Resolution field.
    3. Then drag the crop marquee over your image and position or size it as you like. Because the Width and Height are not blank, the crop area will retain the correct proportions. Note that whatever size crop area you create, the crop operation scales that portion of your image to the specified Width and Height.
    4. Then press Enter or Return or click the big checkbox on the settings bar. Don't save your document!
    5. Print the cropped document as usual, and after the print dialog closes, press Ctrl-Z (Command-Z) or choose Edit / Step Backwards to undo the crop.

  • How do I get AI to print a large image across multiple sheets of paper?

I'm pretty innexperienced with AI newer than a decade ago.  Anticipating that the software would be able to print Artboards as sheets, I created my image to cover more than one artboard.
I've read various related help topics and I still can't get one image to print over multiple sheets without space between: i.e. borderless.
I begin by choosing a 8.5 x 11 borderless in media but it still prints with a border even with "Don't scale" or "Fit to Page" turned on.
I tried tiling with some trepidation because it requires "Ignore Artboards" to be on and wants to reorient the paper the other way if on auto-rotate.  If I specifically specify landscape orientation that seems to fix the problem except for one thing: it still prints with borders! If I tile "Imageable Areas" which seems silly since the printer is perfectly capable of printing borderless, it will have to scale the image down a bit, which I don't want.
There are settings for "bleed" and "overlap" but those don't seem to be what I'm looking for and I don't need to waste more ink.

Try using the document setup from the file menu. You can set up the artboards to any size you want and cal include a negative gutter which will meant that with proper spacing you can get the file to print with the needed overlap and not have to use the borderless setting. Most borderless printers actually expand the print 1 or 2 percent to make sure that it goes beyond the paper. You might not want to do that.
