Print options when opening report in acDialog

I have a report where, on the close event, I ask the user if they want to post the records. The user's response is captured to a public variable that is then used to branch logic back on the form from which I open the report.
Consequently, I think I need to open in acDialog so that the code on the form after the OpenReport line does not continue on to the branched logic until the report is closed and the above response is available.
However, in dialog view, I do not have access to the standard report ribbon--which is how I intended to allow the user to print/export. Yes, I know I can have the user press Ctrl-P, but that is an extra step an end user should not have to know. And yes,
I know I can use right-click options.
So my question is twofold. #2 will not be necessary if there is an elegant workaround for #1.
Is acDialog the best (or only) way to accomplish the wait-for-response in my code on the form?
How would I get print & export buttons (or the whole default Reports ribbon) available when the report is open acDialog?

Lawrence,
The form is where I concatenate the SQL that is the record source of both the report and the subsequent record updates. So the form is always open before the report is opened (that is where the code to open the report resides and is run), and it must remain
open while the report is open to maintain the value of the variables, including the WHERE clause of the SQL statement that will be used for the posting process when the user closes the report. That is, the SQL used to open the report MUST match the
SQL used when posting the records, or the user could change some selection parameter and post records not on the report.
And I open both the form and report modally to prevent a user from inadvertently running the report's Close event outside the context of the form, with its variables all set for the posting process.
I know I could pass all of this to public variables, but I am trying to keep it as clean and as close to the Form -> Report -> back to Form as I can.

No "save" option when editing report, only "save as" in  2007 A PL30

Yes you are all correct guys, but i'm aware that i can't edit the system report.
What I did is i assigned a template for my query, then the system will automatically assign a template with the same name as my query. but the problem is when i open the layout, and make any changes, save button is not enabled, the system requires me to "save as". I dont encounter this problem in other version, but only in 2007a.

  • Default Print Options when issuing output

    Dear Experts:
I came across a issue regarding print options when issuing output from the billing document.
my first question is, this default print options seems to be coming from my output record as for print immediately option. where does Recipient come from?
my second question is, is it possible that I make the "print immediately"  option default by user own settings in SU3?
    Thanks in advance.

The recipient normally is the person which is logged in, during the NAST-Entry is saved.
I know, there are several options available in the customizing, but I'm really not sure, so perhaps you can work through the official help located here:
Output Determination (SD-BF-OC) - SAP Library
The "print immediately"  option cannot be set to the user-parameters via customizing. I think you have to use a userexit in the messaging to put some lines in there to make this work, but also please work through the official documentation.
If you doesn't find a solution, I think this space match better for such a question:

  • Print option in BI Report

    Hi
When i click on the print version in the portal, i can take the printout of the report in the PDF format.
When i have only 6 columns in the report then all fit in one page. But if i drill down and add one more column to the report and try to do the print (Landscape), I get only first 6 columns in the report.
Is there any mechanism where in we can say fit to one page or shrink to the page in portal?
    Regards

    Hi
    Thanks for the replies
Fit to page option is not working. Its not displaying all the contents in one page
When i say print by default its opening up the PDF file in which there is a report data.
Where do we do the setting that PDF to be generated when a print option is clicked in EP?

  • Word 2010 - "Connecting to printer" message when opening documents at Server 2008 R2 Terminal server

Our users experience sometimes the message "connecting to printer" while they open a document in Word 2010 (32-bit) on our Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server. This is behavior
isn't consequent but random. The default printer in this environment is a Net2Printer-printerdriver (1.16) which redirects the print jobs (in PDF-format) to the local client's default printer. This feature works well. We don't want to change the default printer
because this is the right one to use by our users.
After a long seeking trip on the internet I've found the Microsoft hotfix KB974991 which can fix this issue for Word 2007. My question is, is this also usable for Word
2010 (32-bit) and if not, is there maybe another fix for the 2010 version available?
Any other suggestions or workarounds are welcome!

    Hi,
Please change following options test if it works:
    Ÿ
    Print proofs quickly
Enable the Draft output option. When you use this option, the document prints with minimal formatting. Therefore, the document
may print faster. This option is ideal for printing proofs.
To enable the Draft output option, follow these steps.
Note Some printers may not support this option.
    Start Word.
    Click File, and then click
    Word Options.
In the Word Options dialog box, click Advanced, and then scroll down to the Printing
    section.
Click to select the Use draft quality check box, and then click OK.
    Ÿ
Use the background printing option that best fits your requirements
When background printing is enabled, you can continue to work in Word while your document prints in the background. Background printing uses additional
memory, and your document may print more slowly.
When background printing is disabled, your document prints faster. However you cannot work in Word until the print job is completed. If you do not have
to continue to work in Word while your document prints, disable background printing to speed up printing.
To do this, follow these steps:
    Start Word.
    Click File, and then click
    Word Options.
In the Word Options dialog box, click Advanced, and then scroll down to the Printing
    section.
Click to clear the Print in background check box, and then click OK.
    Best regards

  • FEATURE REQUEST: 'Select Printer' option when printing envelopes or labels

I have a Samsung laserjet printer that will not print labels properly with the default paper type setting...the toner smears. So I have created a second printer object for the Samsung device with 'Labels' selected as the default paper type and I've named
it 'Samsung Labels'. I can select it as the printer in Word 2010 and it will print labels correctly for that session. I've read the discussion about Word 2010 only remembering the printer preferences during the current session. That is unfortunate, but I consider
this to be even worse: when you click the 'Print' button after creating your label or envelope, Word just prints to the default printer without displaying the print control panel. This prevents me from selecting the printer object that I've created to print
labels correctly with my Samsung. I use a number of different printers and I don't want to necessarily use my default printer for Word. I want to be able to select a different default printer for Word and also have the option to select a different printer
for a particular print task in Word...like labels. I don't want to have to go into Word's print options every time I want to print a label and make sure that everything is set correctly. It makes no sense that I can't select a printer object when I hit the
print button. There are a million 'features' built into Office that I would never think of using, but one that seems so obvious is missing. Arg!
I doubt that I'll hear back from someone with a simple work around for this, but I'd love it if I did.
    Thanks in advance,
    Wayne
Wayne S. CompTIA A+ CompTIA Network+ Microsoft MCP

I would like to second Wayne's suggestion but I am concerned with printing envelopes, not labels. I have been a PC user (and even an instructor) since the days of VisiCalc, Lotus 1-2-3, and the first Microsoft products. It has never ceased to amaze me
that, as mentioned by Wayne, the most fundamental needs are overlooked. It wastes a lot of my time to constantly have to change the printer just to print an envelope or to print something on letterhead. We have a lot of documents that include one letter on
letterhead followed or preceded by several pages that need to print on plain paper. I think I should be able to tell Word that page X is letterhead, and the others default to the plain paper tray or printer. I also should be able to tell the print envelopes
feature that envelopes are on printer X or tray X. Then every time I need to print such a document, I just click print for the doc and envelope print for the envelope (I keep an icon for this in my toolbar). We use a legal software package in our office that
lets you specify the appropriate printer and tray for reports, general checks, trust checks, labels, receipts, deposit slips, bills and pre-bills! Super easy and convenient. Word processing should be SMART so we don't have to be bothered with these very mundane
and never-ending printer issues!! Please, please, take this to the top! Please send your developers to actual real-world users and find out our needs!!!

  • Database logon failed when opening report with parameter values in CrystalReportViewer

    Hi,
I designed 2 crystal reports: report A contains parameter fields and report B did not contain any parameter
I can open both reports in development site using CrystalReportViewer control. When I open the reports in testing site,
I can open report B but can't open report A. It display error message "Database logon failed". When I set EnableDatabaseLogonPrompt
to true and try to open the report A again, it shows database connection data which was created on report.
In addition, it is strange that it displays error "Database logon failed" when I click an item in group tree panel of the report B. This indicates that it can load data from database
in testing site but it connect to development database when clicking items in group tree panel

  • "Software Usage Metrics initialize failed" error when open Report Manager, after moving ReportServer from SSRS 2008 to SSRS 2012 (Native Mode)

I've asked this question in SQL Server Upgrade forume, I'm asking here as well:
    Your help is highly appreciated!
After migrating ReportServer db from 2008 to 2012, when access Report Manager throughhttp://myserver:80/Reports, I got the error below:
ui!ReportManager_0-3!11d8!02/04/2013-15:19:12:: e ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed
    The process is below:
•I successfully installed SQL Server 2012 (64-bit) Enterprise as a Native Mode on a server who runs Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64-bit).
•I restored "ReportServer2008To2012" and "ReportServer2008To2012TempDB" in SSRS 2012 from the db files backed up in SQL 2008. In SSRS 2008, I have SSRS Model, ad-hoc reports based on model, and I also have canned reports built through BIDS
    report server project.
•I reconfigured both databases' Compatibility level to SQL Server 2012(110) from SQL Server 2008(100).
•I configured SSRS through Reporting Services Configuration Manager as below:
      > I chosen "Use built-in account:" as Service Account
    > In "Database" tab, I selected "Choose an existing report server database" and choose "ReportServer2008To2012" db, I used "Windows Authentication" (my login has the System Administrator priviledge). I got all 4 parts
success: Verifying database sku = Success; Generating rights scripts = Success; Applying connection rights = Success; Setting DSN = Success.
    > I went to "Scale-out Deployment" to check if the initializing succeed, I found nothing there.
Here are what I did from different approaches:
A •I went to "Encryption Keys" and restored the key I backed up from SSRS 2008, after retoring, I got two initialized instances: One is on my current server (SSRS 2012), the other one is from the old server (SSRS 2008).
I deleted the old one(SSRS 2008) through "Remove Server" action and kept the one on my current server(SSRS 2012).
After I restart SSRS service, and tried to connect Report Manager, I got "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details."
I checked the log file, the error is actually "ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed"
B •I also tried to "Delete Encrypted Content" and did see the SSRS was initialized through checking it on "Scale-out Deployment", however when I tried to open Report Manager, I got the same error.
Anyone had the same issue? Any solution? Thanks in advance!

I was trying to figure out which part of EMET was causing Visual Studio to lockup for a few seconds when opening the debugging menu the first time, and this happened:

  • Customizing Print Options for Webi Report

    Scenario:
    Environment: BO Xi R3.1
Webi report having around 10 tabs in a Single report and all report tabs are built on 1 query.
    Requirement
1)Need to have print pop up box which will give the same functionality as Office tools to the end users.
i.e., need a way to bring the Java Report Panel (Edit mode) print dialog box to the DHTML (View Mode) so that End Users have more options for printing.
2)Need to have an option to print report tab selectively.
3)Need to have an option to print reports for multiple filter selections.
Any pointers, suggestions to the above requirement are of great help.
Appreciate, if the Specific SDK class details are also mentioned with any possible options.
    Thanks in advance
    Vijay B

    Lawrence,
The form is where I concatenate the SQL that is the record source of both the report and the subsequent record updates.

  • How to set printer options when direct printing from Linux AS Sevr.?

We have a problem like this: Our app server is a 10g R2. We want to DIRECTLY print reports to a HP LaserJet 1320 PCL 6 which is attached to a Windows print server.
We can print the reports from the Oracle Forms (we use reports builder to create a PDF in a directory and then using HOST command we print it).
The command we use is lp -d LaserJet sicl_rcpdebtnt_5.pdfProblem is the printout comes with the top 10% of the page not printed. i.e. the printing starts from about 10% of the PDF. The header and top information is not printed.
We tried the scaling option: lp -o scaling=75 -d LaserJet sicl_rcpdebtnt_5.pdfBut that also has no effect.
What can we do to print the entire PDF in ONE page. When we open the PDF in Windows and prints it we have to say Fit to printer margins for the printer's page scaling property.
How to set this in command line Linux???

Since you are not printing directly from Reports (destype=printer) this is not really a Reports issue I guess. Maybe you should ask this in a Linux forum.
    However:
we have to say Fit to printer margins looks to me that there is a mismatch between your Report design and paper format. Check page size and margins in Reports Builder.
