Printer and stereo in different locations...

if i want to plug in my printer to the express AND my stereo to the express, they would have to be in the same room with the express and the cable modem..
it makes sense to have the printer in there.. but i want my stereo out in the living room where it is currently. only other option would be to get a base station AND an express.. or get 2 expresses.. right?

I want to send music (particularly Internet Radio) from my Mac to my conventional stereo.
The Airtunes service only supports music from iTunes. To listen to other sound you would need Airfoil .
Wouldn't the best choice be an Extreme for the base (for future wireless connections), plus the addition of an Express right at my Stereo?
Yes that would work. Any wireless router could be used as the base in this situation.

  • Printer and stereo in different rooms

Up to this point we have used our Airport Express as an extension of our wireless linksys network to share a printer. We recently wanted to use iTunes over our stero which is in the living room, and the set up worked fine. However, since our printer is in the office, we lost our shared printer after moving the Express to the living room by the stereo unit. Is it possible to have two Express units, one in the living room for stereo and one in the office for the printer? Or is there an easier way to accomplish this? Thanks.

  • Set The Secured Files, Not allow printing and saving to another location

    Dear Sir / Madam,
    Please help...
Possible to set the security permission for share files, not allow end users to printing and saving a PDF to another location.
    Thanks,
    Alex Tai

    Hi Alex,
Possible to set the security permission for share files, not allow end users to printing and saving a PDF to another location.
Based on my tests, users can save the document with only Read permission, which is by design. If you don’t want users to print files, please do not give the print permissions on printers.
    Best Regards,
    Amy

I currently have two servers for CER, a pub and a sub.   The customer wants to put these two servers at different locations for disaster recovery.  I know exactly how to configure a Pub in Sub for CER but I'm wondering what are the network requirements for this type of design.  I've been through all the Doc's on CER but I'm not finding anything.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

    Sandip,
I remember seeing this post from you before.  I would urge you to follow up on your posts and check the replies before posting them again.  This is mainly because if you keep posting the same questions again inspite of getting answers you might lose credibility in getting replies.  I am saying this in your best interest.
Please see my reply for your previous message
As per what I know you can setup a default Printer for a document (PLD). Also for your situation you should save the same PLD with two different names and default one to each user. Now you have two PLD's for two of your users.
Open the first PLD template and from the design mode of PLD.
    In the Top Menu
Print layout designer > Display document properties -- go to Paper format tab and select the Printer you want the document to print for this PLD user.
Do the same for the other user.
I am not sure how this will work in a distributed environment where you are using CITRIX. Please check with your Network associate.
    Thanks

  • Printer and Computer have different ip addresses

I have a Mac running OS 10.6 with an ip address of 192.168.1.2  and I am trying to connect it to an hp deskjet 3054 j610. The printer shows ip 192.168.1.7.  Can anyone tell me how to change the ip on my printer so the two can find each other?  I tried plugging the printer into the back of my router (netgear) but that did nothing.

Just like houses on the same street, devices on a network MUST have different IP addresses.  SInce they have the same structure (192.168.1.X), they are on the same network.
Type the printer's IP into a web browswer.  Can you see the internal settings of the printer?
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Is it possible to store indesign swf and resources in different location than html

I am using an email blast program to create a micro-site, but it doesn't let me store the html file with the swf and resources. When I upload the swf and resources to an external server and go directly to the swf address, the swf plays and the sound works. When I reference the swf in an html document on a different server  than the swf and it's resources, the swf plays but the resources don't (sound files). Is there a way to make this work?

  • Airport Extreme and Express at Different Locations

I have a very basic question that I would appreciate help on.
At our home I have an Airport Extreme that I use for wireless capability for my Powerbook, used primarily for internet surfing. In the summers we go to our "fish camp" where I would like to also have wireless capability. I have DSL at both locations. My question is can I purchase an Airport Express and have it work at our "fish camp" and leave my Airport Extreme at home and have it work when we return home? I would like to not have to move everything.
Or, any other suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you so much.

Yes, you can use the AirPort Extreme at home and the AirPort Express at the "fish camp."

  • Certification course and exam in different locations

    Hi,
I am currently in USA and gave oracle apps supply chain expert consultant -purchasing exams recently. However, I am yet to complete the online course. I will be leaving to India in few weeks. Can I take up the online course in India and submit the course completion form? Will there be any issue in obtaining the certificate if I do so.
    Please advice.

Please advice.AFAIK the requirement is your body needs to be resident in the country where you take the online course.
And whereyou you take an authorised course if will count.
The issue is if your body was physically in the USA and took and online course in India, Oracle University would take a dim view on this ... possibly due to export/tax reasons but mainly due to loss of revenue ... and could nullify the pass for certifcation puroses and treat one as a no-show .... leading to no satisfaction of certification requirement and no show. I expect anyone who simply tries this, and I suspect some have, will have found themselves barred from the course.
All of this response is my best (but possibly incorrect) understanding only, I am not authorative and I do not work for Oracle.
If you absolutely need an authorative answer raise a support call, though Brandye will usually answer, but she may be busy or enjoying a 3 week retreat on Innishmurray or the South Pole for all I know.

  • For 3 years my iMac and miniMac both communicated with a Canon printer and the internet using an Airport Extreme.  Last winter, the miniMac lost printing via the Airpor and now can't communicate with the network at all.

For three years my iMac and Mac mini were networked via Airport Extreme with a printer and the internet.  More recently, I added an iMac and iPhone.   PROBLEMS:  A few months ago the Mac mini lost its connection to  the printer, and now it cannot locate the network at all.

If you use the extreme as a router then the tc should be connected via its wan port to one of the lan ports on the extreme. Tc should be set up in bridge mode. Basically you could set it up to create another wireless network beside the one created by the extreme. There is no need to use WDS or extend the other network.
Use the same SSID and password for both machines. Computers will connect to the strongest signal.

  • Stop it from using photo black ink for black text printing and where has the color ink gone?

My HP Photosmart Prem C310 series all in one is using the Black Photo ink cartridge for text printing instead of the XL Black that I put in it for text printing. How can I get it to use the right cartridge for printing? Also, even though I have NOT printed ANY photo's and very few pages of text the new set of color cartridges I put in it a few months ago are almost empty. Why? How could they be almost empty when I have NOT printed anything in color? This is getting ridiculous replacing ink cartridges every few months WHEN I HAVE NOT BEEN PRINTING ANYTHING!!!
The set of ink cartridges that came with it lasted for several months. Since then I've gone through two sets in less than a year. That's 3 sets of ink cartridges when I have only printed 3 photo's when I first set it up. And have only used les than a 1/4 of one package of printing paper. I've only put paper in it twice. Each time it was about a 1/4 inch or 3/8 of an inch thick stack of paper in the tray. I've even tried shutting the printer down when its not being used for a long period of time but the ink is still disapearing. Where is it going? Why is it going there? How do I stop it? This is rediculous. I may as well junk the thing even though it still works because I cant aford to keep feeding it ink when its just sitting there doing nothing most of the time.
    Thank you
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I just got another email from HP about this problem wanting to know what I found for a solution to this problem. From all of the suggestions from the HP tec support all of them pretty much kept saying the same thing. That it is my fault that it's using so much ink because I have it on the wrong settings. One tec did slip and say that it doesn't matter what settings you have it on it will always use the Photo Black cartridge for printing plain black text and it doesn't matter if you have a X-Large Black cartridge in it for text printing because it was made to always use the Photo Black for text and even use some of the colors to blend with the black to make it stand out. Why anybody would need this when just printing shipping labels and things like that I don't know.
Any who, The only solution for this problem is,,,, junk the printer and get a different brand & model of printer. Research it before buying to find out how much ink it wants to waste and if it will still print black text if it only has a black cartridge in it. I was going to get rid of mine by giving it to a friend since they don't have a printer. But since I want to keep him as a friend I decided not to give it to him. Since it cant be traded in for a different one even though it still works, Its going to the target shooting range the next time I go out shooting. Maybe I'll take a few video's clips of it getting blasted to pieces with a Ruger 10-22 .22 cal. rifle with 25 shot clips, a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle shooting .223 cal with a 30 shot clip, a Chinese SKS 7.62 with a 30 shot clip. And maybe use my Ruger P89 9mm pistol and put a couple 15 round clips of 9mm in it. If there's anything left I'll finish it off with a few 3" magnum loads of #2 steel shot with my 20 gauge shotgun.  Then I think I'll do the same thing to my Westinghouse 46" flat screen HDTV that just died.
Then maybe I'll come back and post the video's of my "solution to this printers problem". It may not fix the problem, but it will be an entertaining way of getting rid of the problem.

  • I am trying to install a hp officejet 45100 g510 printer and am unable to   please help

I am trying to install a HP officejet 4500 G510 without success.  please help

I'd generally suggest contacting HP support and see if they have any suggestions.  HP also have forums related to their products.  There are a couple of discussions here and (unanswered) here in the HP forums.
If you want to pursue this here, you'll want to provide some additional details on what's happened (or not happened), any diagnostics received and related.  Also any relevent information from the console logs (Applications > Utilities > Console.app), and whether you're using the network or the USB connection.
Alternatively, return the printer and select a different printer.

  • Mounting Documents, Music, Video and Picture folder to different location.

I would like to mount the documents, video, picture and music folders to a different location than \users\<username\. Anyone know how I can go about doing this? My goal is to have those folders default to folders on a shared partition on the drive. I am dual booting OS X and Vista and would like to share the folders I listed above so both operating systems can read and write to them. I have my drives setup as follows:
    Partition 1 OS X
    Partition 2 Vista OS
    Partition 3 Shared
I already have Vista defaulting to the correct folders on the shared drives but not sure how to get it done with OS X.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Moving the default folders may cause problems with installers and such that expect them to be where they normally are, and there may be various permissions issues. With that said, you should be able to create an alias or symbolic link to the desired folders and place them in your shared partition.

  • Can 2 people in different locations at the same time import, access, send, and receive the same messages from the same email account

I import messages into Thunderbird. I send and receive emails. One of the things I like about Thunderbird is that I can insert (image, link, etc) right where I want to, and I can Attach. But not just a simple attach file. No, I can also click Attach and choose Webpage. A lot of web-based emails are plain, simple, no frills - Attach file and that's it.
So I need to have my client be able to do the same thing I do when sending out emails, Namely sending out emails with an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) attached - which is to say, a webpage (not a pdf in our case). So, I need her to download, install, and use Thunderbird.
Here's the problem and my question. She needs to access, send, and receive from my email account. That would be easy if it was simple attach files - she could just login on the web, go to squirrel mail and bang it out.. Here it is: She needs to be able to import the messages to be able to reply to some messages - she needs access to what I have access to. She needs to use Thunderbird so she can take advantage of the features like insert image with link or attaching a webpage. My question is how will this affect my use? Can 2 people simultaneously and from different locations access and use the same email account or is it a case where her importing the emails would cut me off..Is it an either or thing? Basically, can her and I both import the emails or can they only be imported to one location at a time. Because every time someone sends me an email i get it right there on my Thunderbird application..it's imported to my Thunderbird..I want her and I to be able to do that without affecting each other. I don't want her to start importing to her desktop and then I can no longer import. If she says "point those messages to my computer what will happen to my ability to access them on my computer in the same manner I am currently?

I think there is a contradiction in your requirements. You want two people to share an account and you don't want either to interfere with the other.
The short and simple answer is to use IMAP to connect to the mail server. If your current email provider doesn't offer IMAP, find another that does. This is old technology already and it's disgraceful that some email providers haven't yet put it in place.
IMAP means that your messages are stored on the server and both of you will see exactly the same set of messages. And therein lies the contradiction; you will both see changes made by the other so you are inherently interfering with one another.
Caveats: some providers may not permit you both to access the account concurrently, and even if they do, things may become interesting if you both choose to work on the same message simultaneously.
Note that all of this is about email servers and protocols; your choice of Thunderbird as your email client has little bearing on the situation.
