Printer output does not match screen

Photoshop CC (recently installed)
Windows 7
Canon i960 printer
Samsung SyncMaster 2494 monitor
I am having problems getting acceptable printing results.  All prints are highly magenta.
I have tried both printer and PS color management and all the available i960 profiles.
I have also run all the printer maintenance tests.
The screen has been profiled with Spyder 2 Pro
This printer has worked fine in the past with PS CS5
I am out of ideas.  Help!

OK romad, the memory problem isn't the Macs but it could be the printers. I have seen this many years ago.
You could also create a test page with one long line from top to bottom and print it. Does the problem still show?
Does it happen if you print a full page photo from i.e. iPhoto directly.
Do you still have AW on this machine? can you paste the content of your problem page into an AW page and print? What is the result?
Somehow we need to do tests to pin down from where the problem is emanating from.
I agree that AW does have a lot that isn't implemented in iWorks, but there are other features that are much better in Pages.

  • Final print size does not match screen view.

    Hi
I am having problems getting my final prints to match the screen view.  Most recently I have had this problem:  I have an image that is sized to 5X7.  I have it on a 5X7 template in the print module of Lightroom.  The image dimensions in Lightroom say 5X7.  I print on 5X7 paper (I actually measured it to be sure).  ON the screen they look perfect, match the the templates and measure out fime with the onscreen rulers.  Without fail a portion of the print is cut off on the final print.  The long side of the print is the most effected.  This is not just limited to 5X7's, it happens across the board.  Is this a common problem or I am I doing something wrong?  In the 5X7 example above the print comes out 5.2 X 7.3 give or take.  I am using Lightroom 5.3 on an iMac running OS 10.9.1.  The printer is a Canon Pro 100.
I welcome any help with this.
    Thank you
    Joe

If the problem is that the printed image is being scaled larger, this is a very common side effect with borderless mode settings in print drivers. Typically, (though sometimes you can prevent this where alternative borderless options are given) - an extra unrequested scaling % ensures that any physical mis-registration or inaccuracy of the paper size, does not leave any accidental white edges.
That's nothing to do with LR's end of the process, if so.

  • Numbering in printed output does not match that in source after about 500 pages (RH 7)

    Hi There,
I have just upgraded to RoboHelp 7 and have created a new
word template. As with the HTML source I work with, this template
has a numbered style called "step" which has nothing much special
    about it.
I just published a word doc (*.doc) and noticed that - at
around pg 500 in the output doc - the numbering stops matching that
in the source document: each topic in the source doc starts at 1,
but after a cut-off point in the printed document each numbered
step starts to continue the preceding list (so if one topic ends
with numbered step 15, the next begins with numbered step 16).
I have compared the source files for topics that are "as
expected" and "not" and I cannot see any difference between the
    HTML therein.
Has anyone else seen this / is there any known solution?
    Thanks,
    Chrissy

I can make the numbering correct throughout by selecting to
output not as a single document, but as separate chapters compiled
    into a single master document.
This is not ideal, but is a satisfactory work-around. If
anyone knows any better solution, please reply!

  • Printer colour does not match screen colour in Adobe 9, but does with Adobe 7

I have just upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.  My colour documents look
different when printed from 9 than when they do printed from 7 even when the same document is printed on the same printer from the same computer.  What settings do I need to change in 9 so that the documents print out the same?  For example, in one document I have dark blue sky which is fine in 7, but prints out as deep purple sky in 9.  On screen it is dark blue when viewed in both 9 and 7.  All help greatly appreciated.  Thanks

The same document prints our perfectly from Adobe 9 on another colour printer so the problem is obviously between Adobe 9 and the original printer.  The original printer is due to be replaced shortly so we will not try to resolve this issue.  Thanks for your help.

  • Printer output does not match Print Preview

I'm just starting out with this and did a layout of some photos I took with captions. Using File>Print and then clicking "Preview in the resulting dialogue box shows that everything fits on the sheet of paper. HOWEVER, after printing the page, the bottom is cut off. What is the problem? The printer is an HP DeskJet 5150. As a work-around I've started doing the layouts as if the paper is 8" x 10".
Also, what does the "Soft Proof" check box do in the Print Preview window?

OK romad, the memory problem isn't the Macs but it could be the printers. I have seen this many years ago.

  • Minidump filename and .time output does not match

    Hi,
I have a few minidumps from different machines. As far as I know, the filename of the minidump indicates the date of dump creation and so does the .time command in windbg. But in my case these do not match for the same dump. THe date in .time is one day
    later than the minidump filename.
Is my understanding correct about the minidump filename and .time output?
    thanks
    Kunal

    Hi Kunal,
Can you please check if there's a difference in the date/time between the dump filename and the "Date Modified" for the dump files. You can check the "Date Modified" in windows explorer.
    Hope, that'll answer your query.

  • Output does NOT match the layout in Oracle Report Developer

    Good afternoon,
I am extremely frustrated. I have been designing a report that has boilerplate text that is a list of questions and possible answers. Those choices typically are "Not Answered", "Yes","No", and "Unknown". I placed a box beside each choice and place a capital X in the appropriate box, based on the results in the database. When I run the report, the text overlays text above, the grey boxes do not show and in general, the output doesn't match the layout.
Sometimes, the questions may relate to other things and there may be as many as 10 or 12 choices. Some of those choices will be exclusive (only 1 of the 10) other times, the answer would be a "Check all that apply" type of condition.
It appears to happen when a report reaches a certain level of complexity although I can't determine just where that threshold is at.
I can't seem to paste an image here to show the layout and the results.
Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this?
I've opened an SR with Oracle Support, but don't expect a quick answser.
    Thanks,
    Don.

    DC,
EUREKA!!! It works. DC, you rock. Oracle Support is still stewing about this one. I'll update my SR to let them know. It seems a silly thing, but the "biggest" change I made was changing the 'X' from a fixed-based-font to a variable-font (was courier and I changed to Times New Roman and selected a smaller font size). Although, just for insurance, I expanded the box a tad also.
Thanks. It shouldn't be this hard, but sometimes, it is.
ps: I'm a 'DC' also, whatever that's worth...
    Don.

  • Resolve input/output does not match

I've used Audition for years, but I'm unable to record in the new version that I just downloaded.  I get the error message that input / output measurements to not match.  I've been in and out of preferences and made changes to no avail.   Thank you for your help.

We need a few more details of your system. Are you on a PC or a Mac? What operating system are you using? And what audio interface?
Since you say that you have used Audition for years I assume that this means on a PC. In which case it is probably Windows that is giving you the run around with setting up the soundcard correctly for Audition. This FAQ may be of help.

  • Output Does Not MATCH Word Document

Everything is fine till it reaches page 76 (of my 388 page document) and the phrase: District of Columbia.
The original document does not wrap District of Columbia, but the PDF file does.
I am using the PDF printer.
The problem is that District of Columbia is a bookmark linked to the table of contents. I see that during creation of the PDF file, Word goes into a mode that shows hidden text in bookmarks, etc. This makes the phase District of Columbia even longer than it normally is.
A work around I am considering is choosing an oversized page for printing, but the names are criptic and I'll have to look up each to find out which would work. I'm very stuck. I have three other programs that can make a PDF out of the document in just minutes, but the links/bookmarks don't work at all.
Creation using Acrobat (v XI) takes six hours. There are that many bookmarks in the document.
    Any suggestions?

My guess is that you are looking at the DOC file with a laser printer or any other printer attached in the print menu. WORD reflows documents to be consistent with the attached printer. You are probably lucky that you made it through 75 pages before there was a problem. The 6 hours is also unreasonably long for the processing of 388 pages, unless everyone might have been a graphic. But even then, that is a huge amount of time.
You are probably using PDF Maker (create PDF menu), but you should still attach the Adobe PDF printer and go through the document before printing or using PDF Maker. Also, go through the preferences in the create PDF menu to select only those things needed. Tags are good for recreating the DOC file (but it is better to not get rid of the DOC file in the first place). The other use for tags is accessibility -- that is often needed, but you might want to try turning it off to see the results.
So, bottom line is to attach the Adobe PDF printer in the print menu and then go through the DOC file to check for the format you are concerned about and see if that duplicates what you are currently getting on p. 76. If it is the same, then you are seeing a standard process by WORD.

  • Printed PDF does not match what is on screen

Not sure this is the right place to post (have just posted on Adobe's equivalent of this - belt and braces), but I am having an issue with PDFs when printed vs. what they look like on screen.
In short, when they are printed, it is as if there are some margins someplace that result in the printed image being reduced in size. I do not know if this is an issue with Acrobat Reader 5 on OSX, an issue with how Reader is reading the PDF, or what, so ideas would be welcome.
The PDF's are being created in Illustrator 9.x running under Classic and there are no margins coming through from that application (they have been removed, just in case). I know that upgrading to OSX versions would be smart, but it is very expensive and the PDF, if it lives up to its name. ought to behave properly!
I am looking at this MO, because my OS9 compatible printer died recently and there are no drivers for OS9 for the new one, so i cannot (reliably) print directly from the OS9 apps to the new printer, hence going via PDF. The problem was present with the old printer as well, but as I could go direct from the apps to that, it didn't matter.
Happy to clarify further if needed.

Try using the "classic" PrintToPDF @ http://www.jwwalker.com/pages/pdf.html
This way you will be creating a PDF file using classic instead of OS X's Print To PDF.

  • PDF output does not match Frame TOC

My Frame TOC is accurate, the tags are correct.  My PDF output has the correct Units in place.  However, in the PDF TOC on the left nav,  the Unit 5 Lessons appear in Unit 4, the Unit 6 Lessons appear in Unit 5, Unit 6 has no Lessons, Unit 7 is correct.  I have spent a full day troubleshooting this.  Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Strange things can happen thanks to the PDF setup > Bookmarks tab, though I suspect you have already checked that. I've occasionally shot myself in the foot by using two styles for level 2, for example, and not noticing that one of them had decided to sidle into the .pdf navigation as level 3 …
Counsel of despair, if you have full Acrobat, would be to adjust the bookmarks manually so you can hand over the deliverable. Hope someone will come up with a more convincing answer, though!

  • Print not matching screen

    print does not match screen
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Most folks seem to have the monitor brighter than optimum.
I edit my prints in a room with no overhead lighting and use a desk lamp so that no light shines on the monitor. If I put my hand on the monitor surface the back of my hand is dark; no light shinng on it.
    Go to this website: http://outbackprint.outbackphoto.com/printinginsights/pi049/essay.html
and download the test image and see how that prints without making any adjustments. The test file is properly exposed and adjusted for color, so that will tell you if your printer is functioning OK.
I would also suggest you adjust the monitor brightness and contrast to 50% level as a starting point.
The ColorMunki isn't calibrating your printer, its calibrating your monitor.
As a test, adjust your monitor brightness up and down, print an image at each setting, and you will see that all the prints will look exactly the same since you haven't affected the digital file.
Calibrating your monitor sets it to the brightness that will replicate the printer output, so when you adjust an image in your processing software to look how you want on screen you will be sure thats how it will look on paper.
Here are some excerpts from a document that Canon supplies with the Print Studio Pro software.
Since you already have the calibration tool you should definitely use it. It is 30 minutes well spent.
I have the Pro-100, and I can tell you it makes stunning prints.

  • Print Res Unchecked, Image does not match native resoltuion

Many of my images already have their resolution and height/width dimensions set in PS. My understanding is that when the print resolution checkbox is unchecked in LR, then the image should be at its native resolution and size and will print the same size as when printed from PS.
However, I find that when I uncheck the resolution checkbox, the image size as shown in LR Print module does not match the native resolution and size. For example a psd file in PS CS3 shows an image size of 16 x 10.25 @ 200 ppi. In LR the same image shows a print size of 15.3 x 9.81 @ 209 ppi. I have checked both tif and psd files, and similar discrepancies exist.
I wonder if I am doing something wrong or misunderstanding something? Thanks for your help

That was Page Setup, sorry (which actually opens a Print Setup dialogue, at least on a PC). There you can choose printer and paper size. Then in Layout panel you choose how to arrange the picture(s) within the page, and the combination of the two will determine the print size, right?
Anyway, I believe I understand your concern now, which is about printing at 100% of the size indicated by the TIFF or PSD file, as PS can do. I did not find a way to direct LR to do the same.
The Print Resolution, when unchecked, doesn't behave like you expect. If you check it, LR will re-sample the image to print it at the resolution you indicated there, whatever the output size. If you un-check it, LR will not re-sample the image; still it will re-size it based on your Page Setup and Layour settings, and the printer driver/printer will do the needed re-sampling. At least this is my understanding.

  • Color does not match printing in preview

Printing a photo directly from iPhoto ('08) does not match the color on screen. Using an Epson 2200.
The colors are dark and saturated. Maybe the problem is setting color management in the advanced dialog box- I have it set to: "No Color Adjustment" as per Epson.
Is there a setting that is recommended? I can't find any help in help.
I'm well aware of color management problems printing via Photoshop with the Epson printer.

    Hi McJPP,
You're using one of the built in color setups for Photoshop, so no big deal there. Since you have your monitor properly calibrated and profiled, ColorSync shouldn't be having an issue handling the difference between the image's color space and your monitor's. Questions though. Is the image RGB? Does it have an embedded profile? If so, is it Adobe RGB 1998? I'm assuming that it does since that's your working RGB color space in Photoshop.
The grab on the left is the preview copy using:
By preview, do you mean the Preview button on the print dialogue box at the bottom left next the the PDF button? I'm guessing yes since I can produce the same kind of result. It's a bit hard to explain, but I'll try.
I took a simple grayscale image and made it RGB. I then did the same thing you did. Left image is Photoshop handling color for an Epson Stylus Pro 4000, using a profile I made for a DuPont paper. Then clicking the Preview button when the print dialogue comes up. Right image is letting the printer handle color and clicking Preview. The result is below.
Believe it or not, there's nothing wrong. Photoshop (more accurately, ColorSync) is showing you what it had to do to the pixel color values to adjust for how the inks perform on the chosen paper. The end result, with proper profiles, is that the printed image looks like what you see in Photoshop regardless of how it shows in Preview mode. The Epson driver doesn't make this visible cue even though you've turned ColorSync on there, so it simply shows you the same thing you see in Photoshop, even though it's making the same adjustment to the pixel color values.
You should get essentially the same final output no matter which way you print the image.
