Printing AGAIN

Hi all, I know this subject has been covered ad nauseum in this and other forums. SURELY there is someone out there, read Adobe?, who can suggest a bunch of settings for my Windows XP,Samsung monitor, Lightroom 1.3, Epson 2400, setup, that can at least get close to the prints I get from PS CS3. I have spent MANY hours on this and other forums trying to achieve the seemingly impossible. Last year I was fortunate enough to be commissioned to photograph 12 major African cities, in which my client has substantial business interests, to produce a calender which has been distributed worldwide. Through PS CS3 I can produce prints which match the "printed calender" without blinking an eye, yet though LR, I am unable to achieve anything even reasonably close. My client requires many inkjet prints of the images taken for internal and promotional use, and being able to print from within LR would make the task much easier. On reading some of the many posts in this and other forums, I have tried amongsts other things to : reduce print density to -12, changed various colour/contrast brightness settings, tried to rename ICC profiles to ICM (not sure if I got that right), even as a last resort printed with my thumbs crossed!! I know there are issues with prophoto/adobe rgb/sRgb profiles, printing from nefs, not an issue in this case as images are all 16 bit tiffs, but SURELY there is a bunch of generic settings that can get you reasonably close???? I never had issues like this with PS 7, CS 2, IView Media pro and even ACDCEE PRO. Now that I have thown my lot in with Lightroom I dont seem to be able to get even close to prints that are acceptable.HELP please???????
I am not looking for the panacea to all printing within LR, just a workable solution that gets me reasonably close to th images I see on screen.
Kind regards
Kevin Wright.
PS, Samsung 226 bw montor is profiled using Syder one, although I dont believe this is the issue as prints from CS3 are near as dammit to what I see on screen!

I also had problems printing proper prints from LR with my Epson 890 printer when using color management in LR on an XP PC. But it has not always been so.
I have had nice prints with that printer made when I used earlier version of LR (with color management on in LR). I now use the latest LR version 1.3.1 and have struggled a lot with it until I finally got it right. BTW, I use a calibrated Lacie monitor.
My problem is that I do not really know what fixed it, but I wrote a message on this forum about what I did prior to getting it right. You can read it here:
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05b95b
I never got any any feedback though. Don't know if people thought it sound too strange or weird to try out, but my color management now works in LR. So I'm happy now.
And no, it was not just a simple setting in the printer driver or LR that I had to change to fix it. Something is obviously going on behind the scenes. I do suspect that LR does not always (?) setup the print setting as they should, even though they appear to be.
I admit I have not read all threads in this forum about printing problems from LR, so please excuse me if following has been proposed before. But this is what I would try (don't know if it works though):
1) Close all open applications in Win XP.
2) Turn on the printer.
3) In Win XP Start menu select [Printers and Faxes].
4) Right click on the printer you have the problem with.
5) Select [Printing Preferences] to open printer driver window.
6) Make a setup that you absolutely won't use and click [OK] button.
7) Re-select [Printing Preferences] again.
8) Now, make the setup you want to use when you print from within LR. That is, you must select No Color Management and the paper, resolution etc. you want. Then click [OK] button.
9) Open LR, select a photo to print and go to Print module.
DO NOT SELECT ANY TEMPLATE in the Template Browser menu
10) Adjust your photo size by dragging the margins to a size large enough to be able to check the color (no need to make a huge print as long as you don't know the result)
11) In LR Color Management: select the Printer profile that corresponds to the paper you previously selected in the printer driver.
12) Click on [Print] button and select [OK]. If you have print preview on, don't mind if the color seems strange in the preview. Just print.
If this doesn't work, I would try variants of this procedure. As I have already mentioned, I don't know if this will make any difference, but it shouldn't do any harm either. It's worth a try. LR print module is very very nice - when it works...

When printing a list in Address Book, how can I select more than the default Attributes and keep them selected when I print again? I want to print ALL information for contacts so I have email address, notes, phone, company, title, etc all on one page. I don't want to have to check off an additional 5 or 6 attributes each time I print out contact information. Is there a way to change the default setting for printing lists, so it is not just "phone," "photo," and "job title?"

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

  • Wireless MacBook Pro to wired C7280: Deleted offline printer queue, can't add printer again

I posted about a year and a half ago about connectivity problems with our C7280 all-in-one, and PrintDoc gave me some great suggestions to get me back on line again--thanks again!
I've had problems off-and-on again, but I've been able to get back again until now, and I can't get the usual tricks to work.
    Here's our set-up:
Printer:  Photosmart C7280 All-in-One, connected to network via Ethernet, static IP address 192.168.1.200 (confirmed via printer's display as well as the printer's web page)
Router:  Verizon/Actiontec MI424-WR (Verizon FiOS) with
    * Ethernet ports
    * 802.11b and 11g with WPA encryption
My Laptop:  MacBook Pro, Mac OS 10.6.8, wireless connection
Every now and then, the printer goes off-line.  (Our cordless phones and our WiFi occasionally hit the same channels, and our printer hiccups seem to happen after WiFi hiccups.  My theory is that a WiFi hiccup somehow screws up the print queues, possibly if it happens in the middle of a print job.  Haven't been able to prove it, though.)  I'm usually able to fix it by cycling power on the printer and/or resetting the print system (by right-clicking the list of printers in the Print & Fax window).
That's not working this time.  I reset the print system, but when I try to add a printer, I don't see my printer in the Add Printer dialog.
    I've tried various combinations of:
Cycling power on the printer (sometimes by cycling the power button off and on, sometimes by unplugging the power cord while powered on, and sometimes by unplugging the power cord while powered off)
Resetting the print system again (sometimes by itself, sometimes followed by log off/on, sometimes followed by reboot)
Powering down the Mac, then the printer, then the router, then powering them back up in reverse order.
But I still can't see my printer in the Add Printer dialog.
Somewhere along the way, I tried following the Mac OS 10.6-10.7 instructions from here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02205477&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3204785#N86...
...but Solution 1 assumes that the printer queue is still there; unfortunately, I'd already reset the print system by then.
Since I'm using OS 10.6 which already has the printer drivers built in, I'm assuming that I can't uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers as in older versions of Mac OS X.  (Er, right?)
The long-term solution (if my theory is right) is to get cordless phones that don't use the WiFi frequencies :-)  In the meantime, are there any tricks I'm missing?

Today I tried to "add printer" again...and lo and behold, there it was!
I wish I could tell you what fixed the problem, but I haven't got a clue.

    Yes, I did try it.
I completely uninstalled Firefox (including personal settings, bookmarks, add-ons etc.) and then I installed Firefox 24 from scratch. The outcome is unchanged. Namely, it installs it and then right when it is about to start for the very first time, it hangs. If I run the task manager I can see the process firefox32. It shows as if it is running. But in fact it is hanging doing nothing. It is almost as if the process is waiting for something to happen and that never occurs. Note that this should not have anything to do with, say, an incompatible add-on/plug in because I had them all removed. I also removed adobe flash prior to the installation and run the malware removal program too.

Acrobat on OSX does not use printer preset. Every single time I have to print I have to click printer and then print to load the preset and then click print again from the main dialog. I am printing to a Xerox that has the copier code in the preset so if I don't do this it will not print. This has been broken for in every version I have tried. This extra clicks are taking years off my life. Did I remember to do the extra clicks? I don't know, I guess I will run down the hall and check. Please fix this.

What operating system are you running? I assume they had you install the latest BIOS. True? If it were mine, I would suggest forcing it to use integrated graphics (in the BIOS) to rule out a problem with the NVidia driver.

  • I used to be able to print stuff like coupons or patterns from websites but now for the last few months I get an error code 30 message. I have added nothing new, same printer, etc but I have let Firefox update. How do I fix this so I can print again?

I used to be able to go to a website and click their print button and it would print just fine. The only programs I will always update when they are available are Firefox, Avast Free Anti virus, and Malwarebytes. I think I may have updated Java too but it was after my printing problem began. I have the latest printer driver update installed which is the same version that I have been printing with before the error began. My printer is an Epson Stylus NX210 series All in One printer. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L650 series. I used to get the error message every time I tried to print a Michaels coupon but I was able to print from any other website I tried. Could someone please help me figure out what to do so I can start printing things again? Thank you!

If you are getting Siri when you double tap, then your home button must be sticking. Siri comes up when you hold the home button. Try tapping quickly twice. When that happens, the multi-tasking list comes up and you will see the app icon and then a thumbnail, or reduced size view of the app above it. You put your finger on that thumbnail and swipe upwards with your finger.
For that issue, you might want to do a reset of the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. This will not affect your data.
To be honest, your novel is a little difficult to read, and I think you put too much information in there, and a lot of it is unnecessary. Be to the point and just add information necessary to understand the issue.

  • Print Checks, select "Not Printed", and print again... without trace!?

    Hello all:
I have already sent this to Product Support, but they requested me to open a thread in this forum. So here's the issue:
In SAP Business One it is possible to print a cheque, in the confirmation window select "Not printed", and then print the cheque again with another number (on unnumbered check stock paper). This creates a hole in the cheque numbering series, that is not explainable to auditors, and creates the possibility of fraud (hey, print two checks instead of one, but have one outgoing payment only). Of course in one way or another it has to be possible to print a cheque again, but my problem is that SAP B1 creates no trace of it whatsoever. The ACHO (cheque history) table is completely empty, the CHO2 table also doesn't have the "Not printed" cheques, and in OCHO only the last cheque number is stored.
I also can't block the "Not printed" option, because the SBO_SP_TransactionNotification is not executed when you print cheques or confirm cheque numbers.
As a workaround for audit requirements I have thought of setting up a trigger to log all updates to OCHO so I could create reports from this, but creating Triggers is not allowed either, so I'm kind of stuck.
Am I the only consultant being confronted with this situation, or how are your clients dealing with this issue? I definitely need a solution for this...
    Thanks and best regards,
    Joerg.
PS: Using the following query I am identifying the skipped numbers:
    SELECT
         T0.AcctNum,
         'Missing from' = (SELECT MAX(CheckNum) FROM OCHO WHERE CheckNum < T0.CheckNum AND AcctNum = T0.AcctNum) + 1,
         'Missing to' = CASE WHEN (SELECT MAX(CheckNum) FROM OCHO WHERE CheckNum < T0.CheckNum AND AcctNum = T0.AcctNum) + 1 <> T0.CheckNum - 1 THEN T0.CheckNum - 1 ELSE 0 END,
         'Qty. missing' = T0.CheckNum - (SELECT MAX(CheckNum) FROM OCHO WHERE CheckNum < T0.CheckNum AND AcctNum = T0.AcctNum) - 1
    FROM
         OCHO T0
    WHERE
         (T0.CheckNum - (SELECT MAX(CheckNum) FROM OCHO WHERE CheckNum < T0.CheckNum AND AcctNum = T0.AcctNum) <> 1
         AND (SELECT MAX(CheckNum) FROM OCHO WHERE CheckNum < T0.CheckNum AND AcctNum = T0.AcctNum) <> 0
OR (SELECT MAX(CheckNum) FROM OCHO WHERE CheckNum < T0.CheckNum AND AcctNum = T0.AcctNum) IS NULL)
         AND T0.PmntDate > '20090901'
         AND T0.Canceled = 'N'
         AND T0.Printed = 'Y'
    ORDER BY
         T0.AcctNum,
         T0.CheckNum

    1) I tried Print Therapy and after I had repaired Permissions the problem was solved (some permission problems were found) until the next restart.
    2) Then I tried to stop and start again the cupsd process and again the problem was solved until the next restart of the computer.
    3) Then I replaced the cupsd.conf file with a new one but the app asked to restart the computer and after this the problem was back.
    4) Print Therapy does not find any problems neither in the properties of the root user nor in the current user or any other group.
    5) Also the verification of the temporary files find no problems.
In conclusion I think that the problem lies in the cupsd process because when stopped and restarted (we can forget that by Repairing Permissions actually we restart cupsd) I have no problem until the next restart of the computer.

  • HP Laser Jet 1020 printing again the last job

    Hello there!
I have a printer HPLaser Jet 1020 which, after reboot, of the computer when switching ON the printer, it immediately begins printing the last job that was sent to the printer before the computer had been switched OFF.
I have checked the printing queue before turning OFF the computer and it is empty.
This problem does not happen every reboot, but happens very often and I haven't been able to find the pattern, nor the cause. I've tried it in two different computers and the same problem occurrs. Has anybody else had the same problem?
By the way, I have Windows XP in both computers and the drivers have been downloaded from the HP web-site.
    Thanks!

  • HP Photosmart premium C309g-m not printing AGAIN

HP Photosmart premium C309g-m printer is not printing.  I use Vista.  This product will print when it wants to.  But every time I need to print from Quickbooks for a deadline, it refuses to print anything at all.  But if I have no deadlines, no problem!  I can print anything from anywhere anytime I want.  But the minute I need to send out an invoice from Quickbooks, like today, I'm screwed.
    I have:
tried to print.  message is Error Printing.  No reference number, nada, zippo!
restart printer.  reprint document.  same as above.
reboot laptop & printer.  reprint document.  (This usually fixes the problem) but sorry, same as above this time.
tried to refresh printer from control panel.  Nada.
tried to restart printer from printer list.  Screw you it yells back at me.
I try to use the Tech Help line for HP and they tell me.  "We can get it working.  But we charge $99."  And I say "Screw you, I don't have any money left."
My deadline is in two minutes, and the invoices are not done.  I have to go into a 2 hour appointment.  But I'll be back.  So maybe some kind hearted soul will send a message back on how I can fix this problem.  It is frequent and irritating as hell.

is anyone able to help with this WON'T PRINT problem???????

I downloaded the software and installed it.

  • 5520 Windows7 - Black ink not printing AGAIN!

This is the 2nd HP home printer that this has happened too.  It works fine until the ink gets low.  Buy new ink.  All colors and black.  Black does not print.  VERY FRUSTRATED because I am trying to print off info for my daughters college applications, etc.  The first printer that I had did this very same thing.  DIfferent model.  I finally spoke with someone on the phone and then sent this one as a replacement.  I have tried all the online trouble shooting steps with no results.  I can't beleive these printers do this.  Must be some type of mfg defect after they print for a while.  I would really appreciate an HP person to call me on my cell: [Edited for Personal Information] so  I can get this going.  I can't buy another printer at this time.  Of course it is just out of warrenty.  Assistance is needed please. Thank you for your help and I can only help I get the type of service I received last time this happened.  That is what kept me with HP.

There a few things to check.  I would suggest going through the troubleshooting steps in the document here, be sure to check the vents as shown in solution three..

  • Acrobat 8 Won't Print - AGAIN! Need Help!

I'm running Acrobat 8 on Windows 7 64 bit. When I installed, I also installed that dll file you need, set it to print to file, everything worked fine for 2 months. This morning, I wake up, go to print a pdf, no go. I remembered that it updated about 2 days ago, so I remove the program, reinstall, nothing. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting my printer, nothing. This software is expensive and it only creates headaches for me. Does someone know how to fix this? I have work to do today. Thanks

You are trying to print a PDF opened in AA8 to what? Have you updated AA8 to the latest update? The canned answer is that AA8 is not certified for Win7 (particularly x64) and you would need to upgrade. However, several folks have AA8 running with Win7 and think some of those are X64. More information about the printer and the subversion of Acrobat would help. AA 8 is currently at 8.3.1.
