Printing bold text in char mode report
Hi all,
I have developed a character mode report. I am able to print some text in big letters and some in condensed. But I am not able to print some text in bold. What printer cde should be used for printing in bold. Please help.
Thanks in advance
Murthy
Tanikella,
The escape codes might be different for different printers. You might need to check with the printer documentation and use that appropriately in the deflt.prt file of reports or the .prt file you use in desformat
Please refer to character mode printing chapter of

Print Bold Character in Character Mode Report
I design report in character mode. but i want to print one filed in bold character and one column with underline. i am using epson lq-2180 printer. i tried to use printer file code but it is not working. so can anyone help me. if possible than write me the code of printer file.
thanksHi Chirag
Use "Printer Code Before" and "Printer Code After" property against the object that you want to appear bold.
To find out the list of printer codes, refer the manual that came along with your printer.

How to modify & use Printer Defination files for Character Mode Report
How can use & modify printer defination files for changing formats & orientation in character mode report. I donot know how to use printer defination files I tried to set the system parameter (Desformat) but it doesn't work.
I m also faced same problem that u face,
If u want to make character mode report so plz follow these instructions:
1. Set the properties of Report Name Node in Character Cell is Yes.
2. Change the mode of the System Parameter Mode is Character.
3. Goto the Layout---> Main Section Properties and set the Character Report Width and Height like 132 and 66
4. Create Formula Column and write this code "RETURN(CHR(14));"
5. Goto Layout Model and map this formula column into Header of the Body Like If ur Company Name is "ABC COMPANY" attached with field and map Formula Column.
5. Goto Printer Definition File DFLT.prt open in NotePad and set width and hieght that u set in Main Section of Report.
6. At Last u Run the Report with Some System Parameter or User Parameter and View as Character Mode Report.
In My Case I used EPSON LQ2180 Printer
So, U Ask More Qustion and u have more knowledge About character mode report Plz Mail me at this address.

JaiHello
Search the Oracle Reports Online help for "Printer Code Before" :
Printer Code Before property
Printer Codes are references to printer escape sequences that define special printing instructions (for example, special font sizes or highlighting) for the object. The Printer Code Before property specifies the printer escape sequence to be executed before each line of the object. The printer escape sequences are inserted after the object is triggered to print but before it has actually printed.

Print in text mode to detect escape sequences
Hello,
We have got an issu, on our .NET print program using Crystal 12 SP3. The issue has concequences on :
- Barcode print on matrix printer
- Barcode print on thermal printer
- Other commands send to a FAX printer driver
Using the SDK, the print driver receives print data in graphical print mode, but it has to be text mode for the printer driver to detect the correct escape sequences. The escapes sequences are used by the driver to switch the font or receive a command.
Is there a way to force the print in text mode ?
The same report printed from Crystal Reports 2008 SP 3 "works", but not from the .NET sdk.
Here is a little example. We made a simple Report, containing 2 simple Text Objects :
Code Barres $ [ /
+$$;111;6;1;1;0;2 z +
$$?0h0123456789$$?0/
We redirected the print driver spool in a file. Here are the outputs :
Printed from Crystal Report 2008 :
[0;4 r+<[3;031w[3;032w[7s2CH
x[1;2xF5-
JÃ$Code Barres $ [ /
J-$$$;111;6;1;1;0;2 z
J$$$?0h0123456789$$?0/@[0;4 r
Printed from .Net application using Crystal Report 2008 SDK :

As you can see above, the characters contained in the report are sent "as this" in the print driver from Crystal Reports 2008. But the pixels represention of the characters are sent from the .Net SDK.Hello,
thank you for your answer.
I forgot to add the 2008 com+ API output, that is exactly the same as Crystal Report 2008.
- From Crystal Reports 2008 : WORKS
- From a program using the 2008 com+ Runtime API : WORKS
- From a program using the 2008 .Net Runtime API : DON'T WORK
You wrote that all the runtime print engine sends to the printer is essentially a picture. But It do send text using the com+ API.
Should I understand : The .Net runtime print engine can't send text ? -

Why text wraps to next line in Chacacter Mode Report?
I have developed a Character Mode report. I have followed all guidelines mentioned in on-line help topic 'Setting properties of an ASCII (character mode) report'.
The problem is that when I print the report, the printer prints around 80 characters and then wraps the remaining text on to the next line. Yes I have set Report Width and Height properties of the report to 132 and 66 resp.
Shows OK in preview.
Both Horizontal and vertical Elasticity are FLEXIBLE.
Result is same on different printers.
What can be the problem.
Pl. guide.
TariqHi Tariq,
If you are specifying some .prt files(printer definition files) in the desformat, please examine them if you have set the width and height to proper values.
Otherwise look at $ORACLE_HOME/reports/printers/dflt.prt (default file) and see if the width and height are set to proper values.
Thanks,

[email protected]Hi,
This sounds like a similar problem that I had (and still having). It was (is) a Bug. Go to metalink.oracle.com and reference this bug#1413754. See if this is your problem as well. My only work around was change the format of the file instead of using character mode I am now using PDF. Which is working fine for me.

Only bold text physically prints from a printer from a PDF created in Pro 11.0.2
Hi.
I have created a PDF of a Microsoft Excel spread sheet in Adobe Pro 11.0.2 but some of the text does not print.
Have tried two different printers but get the same results.
There seems to be a pattern in what does and does not print, but it does not make sense as only the bold text seems to print.
It is written with standard Calibri font in Office Pro Plus 2010 on Win7ProSP1.
It looks fine on the screen as all text is visible after creating the PDF
Any comments appreciated...
Tony GrayTry printing as a graphic. It may be that the fonts are not downloading to the printer -- a typical issue with HP printers for some reason.
