Printing: JDE BIP & Troy Font

Environment: JDE & BIP
Printer Type: HP (PCL type printer)
Troy Font: Troy E13B.ttf
Why utilize the Troy font .... security. The Troy font is where it appears in reverse locally but the printer will convert it to the correct font.
History:
1. After configuration changes & testing the “Troy E-13B” font with JDE/BIP it was determined that there was an issue.
2. I did some research on the web & tested the following scenarios on the network, leaving out the JDE & BIP components:
a.     MS Word -> successful with new TTF from “Troy”.
b.     MS Excel -> successful with new TTF from “Troy”.
c.     PDF generated from a MS Word document then printed on the printer -> UNSUCCESSFUL
After talking with "Troy" support, it was explained that the “Troy” fonts do not translate because it cannot see the fonts within the PDF file to translate. I.E. It views the PDF format as a picture.
It looks like since JDE only generates PDF output, it looks like the “Troy” font cannot be utilized.
Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences that they can share.
All insight would greatly be appreciated.

The Operating System supports that font. We are running this on a Windows 2008 Server and the drivers are install [Troy Driver Support|http://www.troygroup.com/support/drivers.aspx].
I found these suggestions on another thread:
- Install the Troy 64 bit universal print driver on the server
- For 32bit client access, select the Troy printer, select Sharing and add the 32bit universal printer driver
- Install the fonts on the Troy printer and the Crystal Reports development computer
- Open the .rpt and first select the Troy printer via File > Print, then select the Troy E-13B font for the MICR field, and then change the MICR field's character spacing from 0 to 9
I'll let you know if one of these solves the issue.

  • Using Troy font in Java

    Hi,
    I am using the Troy fonts which I had installed from MICR by TROY (EX).zip like Troy CMC7 ,Troy Auto-Protect (screen).ttf Troy OCR-A (screen).ttf etc.
    We are developing a java program to generate .ps output based on the font settings selected using an user interface developed using C#. I am able to generate the .ps files using all fonts in windows other than
    Troy. But in the C# user interface I am able to see the preview with the
    respective Troy fonts (working fine) , and the font selections are
    reaching my java program , but when java generates the .ps file what
    ever text is marked using Troy font is not getting displayed in the .ps file.
    I tried setting text with Troy fonts in a word file and generated a .ps
    file which is too generating proper output. To get output ,. I am not using any physical printer but just opening the .ps file using a GhostViewer (GSView) and see how it appears. (the .ps generated using OKI C7400 v1.7 for XP virual PostScript printer).
    Can you please confirm whether if there are any limitations in JDK 1.4
    processing Troy fonts?
    Thanks in advance
    Kind Regards

  • Print Module - Set Explicit Font Sizes

    In the Print Module Identity Plate can Lightroom set font size explicitly instead of using only a % scale factor?
    The scale factor is a great idea but it would be a lot more convenient at times to set the font size explicitly to 10 or 12 or whatever so it could carry over to other titles if you want all your titles to print in a specific font size (e.g. 12 points). That's already possible with Vibrance, Recovery and a host of other settings (including the Identity Plate scale factor itself!) and it's very valuable to be able to have those exacting controls.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Ian,
    I'd be very pleased if I'm doing something wrong. From what I see the Identity Plate supports only one font size, and only for the most recent photo. When I choose Edit and type in a new title of a different length Lightroom changes the size of the font (the longer the title, the smaller the font and vice versa). Try this:
    1) Open Identity Plate and title the picture "Hello".
    2) Change the title to "I just love Adobe Lightroom so very much!"
    The title will be smaller. Lightroom seems to disregard the Identity Plate font size.
    I just tried your recommendation and no matter how I changed the Identity Plate font size in the Print module (e.g. from 38pt to 8pt) the photo's title text size barely changes, I have to use the Scaling slider every time. That font sizing functionality only works for me in the Library module when I'm creating my actual Identity Plate.
    Every time I change pictures I have to re-do this step. The way I'm dealing with this is changing the scaling factor (or with your recommendation, the font size) every time for every different-length title and/or enlarging/shrinking the title box for each photo.
    As I explained in my other reply to your other post, this is very time-consuming when you're printing 50-100 titled photos in a single day/weekend (not to mention the fact that it's physically impossible to set every scaling factor so all titles print exactly the same size font).
    It would be a lot better for Lightroom to automatically save all the print parameters the way it saves all other of the picture's metadata.
    If you could share an easy way to make that much faster I'd be quite grateful.

  • Queries regarding Printing in BIP

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where the reports generated in BI Publisher needs to be directly send to the printer.The BIP is integrated to an application and we use BIP only for generting the PDF and excel reports.
    I am trying to understand how the printing works in BIP and have a few queries regarding them. Listed below
    1) The code that invokes the print functionality, is it something that resides on the server which hosts BIP?, or is it more a client side code (application that calls BIP)?
    2) Do I have explicitly set my printer properties like host name , port #..etc in the code? I saw it being done in the documentation
    ------------From BIP Documentation -------------------------
    // set IPP printer host
    req.addProperty(DeliveryPropertyDefinitions.IPP_HOST, "myhost");
    // set IPP printer port
    req.addProperty(DeliveryPropertyDefinitions.IPP_PORT, "631");
    // set IPP printer name
    req.addProperty(DeliveryPropertyDefinitions.IPP_PRINTER_NAME,
    "/printers/myprinter");
    3) Do we need to know the printer details of each user prior to printing?
    4) If the userbase is quite large, how can we set the printer properties for each individual users?. Is this a property set for each individual user?
    5) Can we extract the printer details from a client machine and send it across to BIP for it to set the property and do the printing?.
    Any thoughts ideas..and answers are welcome
    Thnx in advance

  • Printing html text and font styles

    Hello,
    when I try to print html text in serif with italic or bold text style the output on a printer incorrectly shows the bold and italic parts in arial or something. Underlined text is printed correctly.

  • When printing from firefox, the page address prints in an illegible font. Same font also appears in certain field windows in the browser.

    Why would the fonts in the page address print in an illegible font? It's a black background bar with a white jumbled cartoon-style font. The same font is present in certain field windows when filling out forms. I checked the fonts in preferences and it all seems to be correct and normal. Could this be a Mac issue?

    There is a known bug involving printing in beta 12 that has been fixed in the Firefox 4 release candidate which is due out soon.

    - Have Microsoft Office 2010
    My issue is as the following:
    When typing a document and chose font type "Adobe Arabic" then click on print, the printer power light will only blink and no paper is printed! When changing the font to other type then the printer will print out the paper.
    Is it something can be fixed? it is not critical choosing this spcific font type for me but would be lovely if someone know how to fix this.
    Thanks,

    Hi Raed_B,
    Thank you for answering my question, and trying the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Sorry it did not work for you, I do have some more suggestions to try:
    Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
    Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
    Make sure the firewall is disabled. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
    Make sure antivirus is disabled. Disable antivirus software.
    Re-install the software using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
    Hope this will help resolve your issue, and have a good day!

  • Text in Print module - changing the font?

    Does anyone know how to change the in the Photo info in the print module? I'm using this to make PDF contact sheets which is perfect for sending to clients but I'd love to be able to use a different type face but it doesn't seem to be possible?

    Font substitution can alter the space occupied by the text which, in turn, can cause it to run longer or can affect things like how it breaks depending on assigned keep options.

    The same is true for excel.
    MS Word Version: 2007
    Printer model: HP 1510 All-in-one Series
    Can I know the reason why this happens only for this particular font?

    I'm also suffering the same issue. I checked the Mime Types in ifsmgr but they appear to be correct.
    I'm a little bemused as to the cause.

  • How do I get a webpage to print in a larger font?

    When I increase the size of the font in internet options, it helps the printed page, but increases the size of the webpage so much it is way too large. How can I increase just the size of my printed page?

    Good news, my file is printing correctly.
    Even though I installed the printer driver update once without any resolution to the problem, I decided to reinstall it again without any immediate success.
    I have to admit I've tried so many things to find some what I was doing wrong and to be truthful things got kind of confusing. One thing seems pretty clear (as clear as things can be at this point) is that when I installed the updated drivers a second time things still weren't working.
    In looking into the matter deeper I went to the printer set up utility there I found 2 listings for my printer but one had some language about being generic post script. I chose that printer from the print dialogue box and that still didn't work. I decided I was going to delete all the printers except the one that I think was there when I began (I say I think because this was the first time I had ever been to this screen) and try another reinstall of the updated printer drivers. Before I did however I decided to run a test and that's when to my delight things printed beautifully.
    Thank you so much for your help. I'm glad things are working, but curious what combination of things made it so. I know I should just be satisfied that things at this point are well and not question why or if they will be so in the future. I guess if they're not there are always good people like you to help.
    I learned a very important life lesson here - the value of asking for help, not being afraid to seem stupid and not disturbed by having to persevere.
    Thank you again every one.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401a Laser Printer Not Saving Downloaded Fonts

    Hi,
    we have recently purchased an HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401a Laser Printer which needs to be used with a system that downloads fonts for correct style printouts. The problem I am having is the fonts download initially which is great, but they are not saved by the printer after 1 printout so the user is having to download the fonts everytime she wants to print something.
    All other printers in the office are HP2055 and work as expected saving the fonts after the initial download. I have asked the support team of the application to have a look at the situation and they say everything is setup correctly so it may be an issue with the printer. Printer is installed on a Windows XP SP3 PC.
    Firware version: 20121205 (15 Dec 2012)
    Driver Version: 61.140.04.14138 (1 Jan 2013)
    Any help would be appeciated, thanks.
    Robert

    If the downloaded soft fonts are definitely not being saved (despite the download presumably terminating with a 'make soft font permanent' escape sequence), then the problem must lie in the firmware - and the only resolution is if HP releases  a new version with a fix.
    To be certain about which PCL5 fonts are resident in the printer, you have presumably printed off a  'PCL5 Typeface List' via the relevant front panel menu (assuming this printer has one).
    Or you could send the following direct to the printer to invoke that report:
    <Esc>%-12345X@PJL COMMENT Print PCL Font List
    @PJL DMINFO ASCIIHEX = "040004010105020402015E"
    <Esc>%-12345X
     where <Esc> represents the non-graphic) Escape control-code character (the character with decimal code 27, or hexadecimal 1B), and each PJL statement is terminated with a LineFeed control-code (decimal 10, hexadecimal 0A).
    Assuming that the printer is USB-connected, you could send the contents of the file (name, say, testfile.prn) holding the above to the printer using the copy command in a command-prompt session:
    copy /b testfile.prn \\computer-name\share-name
     where:
    computer-name is the name of the host workstation
    share-name is a share name of the installed Windows printer instance.
    I don't have access to your model of printer, but I do use a LaserJet Pro 400 Colour MFP 475dn (MFP equivalent of M451 printer), and this does appear to retain downloaded 'permanent' soft fonts - but only until the device goes into 'sleep' mode!
    So it is probably a common 'fault' (or 'design decision'?) across this family (LJ Pro 400) of printers.

    Happy Birthday USA!
    Last week I loaded 10.4.10 to Mac mini and eversince I have not been able to print pdfs from Adobe Reader or print desired fonts from Word.
    (I have overcome default to US letter problem in Word)
    I have loaded latest drivers from HP site/ installed original drivers from HP disk but these appear to be for OSX rather than 10.4.10.
    Any suggestions?

    First of all I would try running Repair Disk Permissions. This can help with printing issues, especially after updates.
    If you are able to print the same pdf's from Preview that you cannot from Acrobat, then you could try deleting its plist with it closed. If that doesn't help then try deleting and reinstalling Reader.
    Re Word, are you getting Courier substitution for the fonts that are not printing or is the line blank where the text should be?
