Printing problems on Windows.

I've successfully set up my Airport Express to wirelessly print from my iMac & MBP but cannot get my Windows PC and Windows Laptop (both Vista) to do likewise. Whenever I "send" a document to print it just remains as pending. I've installed the software that came with Airport Express on both Windows machines but still cannot get any reaction.
Any advice as to what I'm doing wrong greatly appriciated.

I am having similar problems too, and cannot seem to fix them. Here's the situation:
I have a HP Photosmart 7150 printer connected to a Mac airport express. My girlfriend's macbook computer is able to print to the via the airport with no problem. My Dell PC running Windows XP connects to the internet via the airport, and everything works fine. Now I would like to print wirelessly to the same HP printer, but my computer cannot locate it. I took the printer and hooked it up directly to my PC via the USB port, and the printer was installed and able to print without problems. I then disconnected the USB connection, and once again connected the printer to the airport. Now I am still not able to locate the printer wirelessly from my PC computer. I downloaded Bonjour, and it is checked as a firewall exception.
What is the next step to be able to select the printer for printing?

  • Printing problem on Windows 7 - 64 bits

I have problems printing some PDFs to Windows 7 - 64 bits. (Reader X 10.1.1)
I'm attaching a picture of what I see on the screen, and the garbled characters that come out of the printer.
    On screen:
    Printed:
This looks like a font problem. So I checked the properties and all the fonts have "Embedded subset".
    Also note that:
    1. The same document prints perfectly on an XP machine that has the same fonts;
    1.b. The same document prints perfectly on a Windows 7 - 32 bit machine;
    2. The same document prints perfectly using Foxit Reader;
    3. The same characters are printed on both paper output and XPS output.
I've been banging at that issue since over a month, deforesting a large part of the tundra in the process (that is, until I confirmed that XPS printer had the same problem...)
    - I've reinstalled the fonts several times;
    - I've rebooted the machine often;
    - Everything is at the latest version.
    Any help would be welcome.

  • Printing problems on Windows server 2003

    Hi All,
I was printing perfectly on my shared printer (HP Laserjet 1000) on my Windows server 2003 with a domain.
Since this week I can't print anymore. I keeps failing with failed authentification. Nothing changed on my server or iMac except the latest security patches on the iMac.
The event log shows up user _lp that is trying to access the printer... not the user that I'm using...
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the printer on the iMac without success.
Anyone has an idea how to fix this ?
    Thanks,
    Pascal

I'm having the same problem now with printers on Windows 2000 systems. The print queue (which worked forever on 10.4 and initially on 10.5) now gets access denied from the SMB server. The "add authentication" thread doesn't fix it as the latest update seems to send user ID "_lp" to the SMB server rather than the user credentials set up in CUPS.
I tried "smb://user:password@server/printer" and it still doesn't work.
Again, it's worked for a long while and just recently broke due to Leopard or an update.

  • Network Printing Problems with Windows 8.1 and HP 8600 Officejet Pro

I can not print or scan from my Dell 2720 after the system has gone to sleep.  My printer shows as connected to my network.  Most time I have to completely restart my PC to get it to work but even that doesn't correct the issue most time.  I have removed and reinstalled the printer at least a dozen times and updated the drivers several times.  Also another oddity - my router is a dual-band (2.4 & 5 GHz) and my printer only connects to the 2.4 GHz connection which I understand is normal but any device attempting to print must be connect to the 5GHz band or nothing will print.  So essentially I have two problems.  Any suggestions?

    Hi @mhmost,
I would be happy to help you print to your 8600. Running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
    Connectivity:
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.
Source:Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows
Click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor> >>>>> www.hp.com/go/tools
If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.
As for the frequency, you are correct, the printer will not work over the 5.0GHz frequency, only with the 2.GHz.I suggest disabling the 5.0 frequency, and running on only the 2.4.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Home network printing problem from Windows 8

I have 3 PCs on my home network:
    1.    Windows XP desktop (Pro SP3) with HP 6500 E709a USB printer.
    2.    Windows 7 desktop (Ultimate SP1 64 bit) with HP 1018 USB printer.
    3.    Windows 8 (64 bit) laptop.
Both printers are NOT Ethernet printers.
All computers can see each other and share folders on the home network.
Computers 1 & 2 can freely print on their own printers, as well as on each other's printer.
The problem is with computer 3 (Win8): it can see both printers, but can't print on either (in fact, I can print a test page on the HP 1018 printer from the printer driver on the Win8 machine, but I can't print anything from any application).
I tried to install HP 6500 driver on the Win8 machine, I turned on Network Discovery in the Advanced Sharing Settings on it, but it still doesn't work.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Is there any "general puprpose" driver for HP 6500 E709a, something to replace the WIN8 driver that fails?

  • Printing problem in Windows 7

    Dear All,
When we take the printing from SAP, in Windows XP  system prints perfectly font size, font type etc. are ok.  But from windows 7 system prints very small size.  I have chacked with various possibility by changing device type and access method. But problem is same.
    Our Setup
    Kernel 720_EXT Version : 401
    Device Type : SAPWIN,
    Access Method : G
SAP GUI : 730 with latest versin.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nirav

    Dear Deepak,
    Thanks for your reply.
On XP we are using THSAPWIN.
In windows 7, THSAPWIN - Very Very small font and font type is also not redable.
So we have changes it to SAPWIN, now it comes with at least redable format but fonts are slighly bigger than THSAPWIN.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Printing problem with Windows : Win32PrintService

    Hi,
I wrote a program which I run under Windows, and prints a .gif image with some text.
I have tested it vith various printers, and it works well.
But with a specific printer (Datamax Allegro, driver by Seagull) I get this exception :

I have downloaded the whole source for j2sdk 1.4.0, but did not find the source for

Does anyone know where I can find that source ,
... or has any idea on how to avoid that exception ?

    Hi,
But with a specific printer (Datamax Allegro, driver

I have downloaded the whole source for j2sdk 1.4.0,

AFAIR you have to download the sources separately somewhere from sun.
... or has any idea on how to avoid that exception ?it tries to access an elment of a non-existing array.
(guessing: the array should contain some media information and the printer driver does not report any media data?)
    from memory, something like:
    aset.add(MediaSize.ISO_A4);
may help, if this does make sense for you.
I posted a bug to sun, so lets wait and see...

  • Airport Extreme - printing problems with window desktops

    Hello everyone;
I a mac book and 3 more pcs (window) at home. I recently bought a airport extreme router in order to able to print from my mac book via wireless. everything is nice when I print from my mac book buy I'm not able to print from the pcs. This is annoying. I really need to get this working. Please send me step by step how to this thing works.
    thanks,

    Hey there BobKier,
It sounds like you have a printer connected to your Airport Extreme and you cannot print from it. I suggest the troubleshooting steps from the following article to help troubleshoot the printer:
USB printer troubleshooting for AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1253
    Check for software updates
Be sure that you have the most recent OS X or iOS software updates, and the latest firmware for your AirPortproduct before trying to print.
Note: Printing via an iOS device requires an AirPrint enabled printer. Refer to AirPrint Basics for a list of AirPrint enabled printers.
    Disconnect and reconnect
Disconnect the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme or AirPort Time Capsule from a power outlet.
    Turn off the printer.
Be sure the USB cable from the printer is connected to the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme or AirPort Time Capsule.
    Turn on the printer.
Reconnect the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme or AirPort Time Capsule to a power outlet and wait for it to become ready.
    Try to print.
    Check your printer driver
Check the website of the printer's manufacturer for the latest driver version.
    Reset Printing System
Use these steps on your Mac if the above steps do not help.
Open System Preferences > Print & Fax preferences.
Control-click or right-click in the Printers section on the left.
    Choose Reset printing system....
    Click OK.
Click the + button to add your printer again.
    Try to print.
    Still not working?
If your printer still doesn't work with AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme or AirPort Time Capsule printer sharing, but does work when directly connected to your Mac, contact the printer manufacturer for additional information and to verify that printer sharing is supported.
    Additional Information
Refer to this article for additional help setting up a USB printer on your Wi-Fi network.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • LR 1.3 printing problem in windows XP

I experience severe colourproblems when printing from LR 1.3. The prints look nowhere near what I see on screen. Exaggerated reds, turning to a fierce purple-ish colour. Other colours look more saturated and darker.
Printing the same file from photoshop with the same settings produces a perfect print matching my calibrated LaCie screen.
My printer is a HP9180, on original HP papers, win Xp sp2.
In LR 1.2 everything worked fine.
    Thank you for any suggestions.

Yes. In the printerdriver colourmanagement is turned off and the papertype is set for the paper I use, in LR I am using a custom profile.
These settings were already saved in the previous version of lightroom and worked fine.
    I even recalibrated my monitor.
The effect doesn't look like a double profiled print. It's some colours behaving badly.
The effect is the same on all papers I tried. All of them with their specific profiles, papersettings and driver settings (ps manages colour)loaded.
In fact the first print I made with LR 1.3. was on Ilford smooth pearl, using a new profile I got for that paper. After the print came out I blamed the profile for being so terrible. When I reprinted the file on HP paper (with it's own profile and settings) the results were exactly the same.
Printing the photo with the same settings from PS CS3 gave perfect results.

  • Pdf printing problem on Windows

I make flyers and tech sheets for my company. I produce a document in Pages '09 and export to pdf and send file to my office via mail. .mac account. Office prints the pdf. and gets shaded boxes around masked images and alpha images. They only show up on colored backgrounds not white backgrounds. And, it doesn't matter if it's exported good, better, or best. Sometimes invisible text boxes show up as well. And, there are no outlines or fills on the text box.
    Any help would be appreciated.

This feature is clearly described by Apple since at least 2005/05/03
Apple's technical note does not say that Apple saves transparency into PDF 1.3 when transparency is supported only in PDF 1.4 and up, nor does Apple's technical note say that a PDF consumer according to the PDF Reference Manual has a mechanism that permits the functionality in PDF versions up to and including the version supported in the PDF consumer to be imaged while functionality in versions above the version in the PDF consumer is merely omitted.
Apple's note specifically does not say, "We save out PDF 1.3, and we should be saving out PDF 1.4. Your PDF consumer should be Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher that supports PDF 1.4 and higher." One can argue that treatment of transparency is not closely tied to PDF version number, and that e.g. Adobe does not implement as if treatment of transparency is closely tied to PDF version number, but whichever way one argues what Apple's technical note says is the following, and what Apple says does not provide the poor enduser with any way of working out what action to take:
"When you create a PDF file from an iWork application, please note that drop shadows within the PDF document may not display in all PDF readers.
"The drop shadows in Pages and Keynote are generated by a component of Mac OS X. When you view iWork-generated PDF files in Preview, you'll see these shadows. However, if you view the PDF with a third-party reader that doesn't use this component, the shadows will be missing."

  • Printing problem with forms 4.5 on windows xp

    Hi,
We have an application using forms 4.5 on DB version Oracle 9207 running on winxp.
Recently the clients were formatted for virus infection problems.
Now when a print job is fired from a client to a shared printer, system flashes error
*" NO PRINTER PORT FOUND IN REGISTRY "*
The same job print to a local printer , also all windows test page printing print ok to the same shared printer .
This error is flashed only when the print job is fired from Forms 4.5 to a shared printer on the network
    Please Advise urgently
    Altaf

Urgently restore a backup of the registry.
Urgently do not use the word 'urgently' in a forum of volunteers.
Also it can not be urgent, as Forms 4.5 dates from the Flintstone age, and probably isn't even certified on XP.
However, the error message is very clear: Apparently Forms 4.5 uses the registry to store printer info: you need to get that entry back. That kind of info is usually documented. Documentation is likely still online.

  • Problems Printing to Shared Windows Printer Via SAMBA (foomatic error 255)

I can NOT print from my MacBookPro to a printer that's shared out from my Windows PC. Of course, printing to this same printer from my PC works fine.
Please help me resolve this printing problem.
Read on for more details regarding my printing woes!
I can successfully setup my printer on the MAC side using the Printer Setup utility. I see the shared out printer on my MAC; I can pick the printer's manufacturer and model. Everything looks ok regarding the setup of the printer on the MAC side.
However, when I try to print a file from the MAC, the printer never prints. The print job appears to get queued on the MAC side. However, after a few seconds, the printer queue displays "foomatic-rip stopped unexpectedly with error 255" (if I selected a foomatic printer driver from the hpijs). Otherwise, it says "NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY" error (if I selected a gutenprint driver instead).
The PC's Windows event logs show no problems. Indeed, the Security event log shows successful authentication & access to the printer.
The MAC's CUPS error_log displays the these error messages:
GutenPrint fails with NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY error, then says Cannot connect to SAMBA host
hpjisGhostscriptFoomatic fails with "The process 'foomatic-rip' stopped unexpectedly with status 255"
Later, I will post the exact entries from this log (I am currently separated from my MAC laptop until later this evening).
My Apple MacBookPro is running MAC OS X 10.4.11 ("Tiger"). The printer is an HP DeskJet 5150 connected via a USB port to my DELL 8400 PC. This desktop PC is running Microsoft's "Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2").
Based on reading other posts (here) and at the Linux Open Foundation (printing), I have already done the following:
    Installed gutenprint;
    Installed foomatic (foomatic-rip v3.42.2.15);
    Installed ghostscript (espgs v7.07.1); &
    Installed hpijs (hpijs v2.7.10).
NOTE: This is NOT the same problem that I posted earlier regarding inability to print to a shared printer with Leopard (MAC OS X 10.5.0). Today's posting deals with my inability to print to the shared printer from Tiger (MAC OS X 10.4.11).
NOTE: This may be a "red herring" but you may need this additional background to help resolve my printing problem. Originally, I ran "Tiger" (MAC OS X 10.4.10) on my MacBookPro laptop. Of course, networked printing worked fine at this point. On October 28, 2007, I upgraded to "Leopard" (MAC OS X 10.5.0). Leopard was a "disaster" for me (printing, networking & many other problems). On November 9, 2007, I "punted" and re-installed "Tiger" (MAC OS X 10.4.10) from Apple's original CD. On November 15, 2007, I upgraded to MAC OS X 10.4.11 via Apple's software update utility. I vaguely recollect that networked printing was working after I returned back to Tiger.

    Tony H.

As promised in my initial post regarding my printing problem, here are the actual error messages displayed in the Print Queue (Hp5150) and the "cups" error_log when I try to print any file to my HP 5150 that's directly connected to my DELL PC (Windows XP Pro) but shared out so that my MacBookPro should be able to print to it.
    Printer Queue Hp5150 window displays:

    /var/log/cups/error_log displays:

I [04/Jan/2008:20:25:17 -0500] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.

E [04/Jan/2008:20:28:17 -0500] [Job 3] Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...ERROR: Connection failed with error NTSTATUS_NOMEMORY
Again, the system Event logs on the Windows XP side show no error messages. In particular, the Security Event Log shows that authentication was successful; so, the MacBookPro's client process was granted access to the printer on the DELL PC side of the transaction.

  • Problems Printing to Shared Windows Printer

After upgrading to Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5), I can no longer print to my HP DeskJet 5150 printer from my Apple MacBookPro laptop. This Deskjet printer is NOT directly connected to the laptop. Instead, it's directly connected to my Windows PC (via USB port). This printer is shared out from the Windows PC.
I see the following error messages in the Printer Queue display every time I try to print something to that Windows shared printer:
    "Connection failed: NTSTATUS_CONNECTIONREFUSED"
"Unable to connect to CIFS host, will retry in 60 seconds..."
In addition, every print attempt requires me to enter my Windows authentication credentials:
    userid (on my Windows PC)
    password (on my Windows PC)
I am absolutely sure that I have entered those credentials correctly. Yet, the error message above would seem to imply that Windows rejected my credentials for some reason. On the Windows side, the Security Event log entries appear fine (no corresponding failure gets logged when the print attempt fails).
Of course, my printing to the shared out from Windows PC WORKED FLAWLESSLY under "Tiger" (Mac OS X 10.4.x). My problem started immediately after I upgraded to "Leopard" (Mac OS X 10.5) on October 28, 2007.
Please advise me how to resolve this printing to a Windows shared printer problem.
    Thanks in advance,

  • 2101nw print server (and LaserJet M1132 MFP) – installation problems on Windows 7 (64bit)

For two years, I've been a happy user of an HP printer (LaserJet M1132 MFP), wirelessly connected to my home network thanks to a HP Wireless G Print Server HP 2101nw.
A week ago, a new machine came in and – to align operating systems - I had to install Windows 7 (64 bits) also on my laptop (previously we were running Windows XP).
Then, I went on with the reinstallation of HP software, for the print server and the printer.
    And it was a disaster.
After the failure of the first installation ("Installazione non riuscita"), I went through a series of attempts of uninstalling and reinstalling, again and again, by various methods. Uselessly. Even Revo Uninstaller did not help.
Then, looking for information over the web, I read there was a known problem of incompatibility of the print server’s driver with 64-bit environment, and that HP was not going to rewrite it .
    You can imagine my disappointment.
Now, hopefully, I write in this forum to ask for help. My request is twofold:
    1) I would like to properIy clean up my laptop and remove all that bad installed sw (both of the print server and the printer), so that at least I can successfully reinstall printer software for using it via USB cable.
For this purpose, can you please give me your suggestions ?
    2) I would like to know: It is true that there is no driver available for use this print server on Windows 7 (64 bit) ?
I’m asking because I found these pages which seems to give some hope, but I’m not so sure  ... :

Many thanks in advance for your help
