Printing with presets

Hello Community,
i want to print from AI through a script. No problem so far, but always the windows standard printer is used. But i want to use another printer for some printings, or use other presets. There are several named printer presets defined in my AI, "Standard", "OKI_C_9500", "OKI_C_9650" and so on.
After a search i found a solution to print with presets from Indesign, but not from Illustrator. In AI are no aceesible "PrinterPresets" like in Indesign.
So how i can print with named presets from AI? Other solution could be just to change the active printer within the script for the actual printing.
Best regards
Torsten

Hi,
yes this is it. After i changed my Computer i lost the PDF "illustrator_scripting_reference_javascript". And in the "ExtendScript Toolkit" Folder it is just "JavaScript Tools Guide CS4" and "Adobe Intro to Scripting.
Now i found the PDF´s again :-)
Thanks a lot

  • Acrobat 9 Pro-Is it possible to script Print with Preset?

    Hello,
Does anyone know if this is possible? From what I understand, even if you create a batch to print, you have to set the print presets in Acrobat to how you want the PDFs to print. Sometimes we need duplexed pages, sometimes we need marks, etc. I can't imagine I'm the only one who has dealt with this, but I can't find any scripts that are even in the ball park.
If anyone has a script available or can create a script to print with a preset or print with static settings, I will try modifying it to my needs.
Thanks for any assistance with this.
    Danny

The options availible for scripted print settings are all shown in the entry for "PrintParams" object in the Acrobat JavaScript Reference.  Have you looked to see if these options fit your needs?  If they do, and if the script can detect which PDF requires which options, then  you're in business.  But if the options you need are not there, then your only option is to set the batch process to display the print dialog for every PDF.

  • Duplex printing with officejet pro 8000

I am using this officejet pro 8000 to print up some newsletters.  When printing a two sided copy (duplex printing) something happens which changes my border setting.  Printing the exact same document, but electing one-sided copy renders a perfect border.  I would not have a problem copying just one side, then re-loading those in order to make two-sided copies, but the friction caused by the ink on the pages causes mulitple sheets to feed at the same time, jamming the printer.  Has HP ever come up with a fix for this?  I have seen this problem on the net, but the best folks have done (that I have seen) is to upload drivers for older machines.  This has rendered good borders on duplex prints, but diminishes the quality of the print copy.  Whatcha think?

Since updating to Snow Leopard, I have had serious problems duplexing. Under the print dialogue window, there is no option to duplex. H.P. blames Mac. Mac blames H.P. I can duplex by going to "layout" and where it says "duplexing off" selecting "long-edge binding" will work. How dumb. Mac Help senior customized my settings by adding "duplex printing" to the "Presets" list.
Are you using the latest drivers from HP? If I set up a printer with the HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809 Series PPD, I can see Two-Sided to the right of Collated if the HP Two-sided Printing Accessory (Duplexer) is checked in the Print & Fax -> Options & Supplies -> Driver tab. If this is not checked, Two-Sided won't appear.
MAC HAS TO CREATE A PATCH TO SIMPLIFY THIS SNOW LEOPARD ERROR!
Apple doesn't write the HP software.
    Hope this helps.

  • Printing with cmd-p question

Hi, when I use cmd-p in Finder to print a document, it doesn't print using my last preset printing preferences (inc. double-sided).
If I open the doc in Word and print, it's fine. But the cmd-p shortcut only prints the default settings, not my preset settings, which include double-sided printing. Can anyone tell me, please, how to make cmd-p work with my printing presets?
    Many thanks,
    David

Hi, I'm trying to print with Word 2011. When I go to Finder and highlight a .doc, then press cmd-p, it opens up the file briefly and prints, but it prints using the default settings (single-sided), not my last used preset (double-sided) and I can't find a way of setting it to print from my last preset. If I open Word and print using the Print command on the File menu, I can choose my preset, but that takes longer.
    I appreciate your help, thanks.

Does anybody knows how can I solve this?

    Hi
I found this article on the apple website to be super helpful. I now get the most accurate prints from Aperture, noticeably superior to anything other program I've tried printing from..

  • CS6 - my print booklet presets keep disappearing

I just recently installed CS6 on my computer. I had to set up all of my print booklet presets again (I use them frequently to print booklets on our printer). I saved them, just as I had previously with CS5.
And for awhile, all was right with the world. Then today, I tried to print a booklet and all of my presets have disappeared.
On top of all that, I have noticed that some of the dialogs that I turned off (you know, the check mark that says "Don't ask me this again") have been reappearing as well, on occasion. I can't help but think these two are connected.
Any ideas? I also can't seem to find where these presets would be saved in the program folders so I could reload them in the Print Presets dialog box.

I didn't reset my preferences, I know that for a fact. And even if I did, I would've had to do it about half a dozen times since that's how often my dialog boxes keep being reset (not even talking about the print presets). I think my prefernces file keeps getting corrupted for some reason. I don't print booklets on a daily basis, maybe monthly, so this has probably happened at least 3 times since the beginning of this month, again just judging by the amount of times my dialogs reset.
And believe me, to reset my preferences without knowing it would be a feat indeed. It's hard enough for me to get my fingers on those buttons fast enough when I mean to reset preferences, I can't imagine doing it accidentally.
I've been reading some other posts on similar issues, I guess my best bet is to reset my print presets AGAIN and figure out how to save them as a copy somewhere safe that isn't in the InDesign folder.

  • Problem printing with Epson 3800 and Photoshop CS5

I came across a problem trying to print with my Epson 3800 in Photoshop CS5.  I recently upgraded to Photoshop CS 5 (and Lightroom 3).  I tried to print using my Epson 3800 with CS5 but could not adjust Print Settings, Color Mamagement, Paper Configuration, Expand Border because those options are unavailable and there is a line crossing through them. I get a message that says "The bundle 'Print Setting' could not be loaded because it does not contain a version for the current architecture".   It then says to contact the creator listed here for the latest version: PrintSetting version 3.57, Copyright SEIKO EPSON CRP 2001-2006.   I can print through Photoshop CS4 as usual, but CS5 is a problem.  I haven't tried printing though Lightroom 3 yet, and have not typically used Lightroom to print, but I wonder if that will be a problem too?
    Any help will be appreciated.

If you run CS5 or LR as a 32bit application you will have all these option available to you. You can then save these options as presets that can then be applied when you are running the applications in 64bit mode even if you can not access them individually.
Also you might want to check Epson's download site especially the European site to see if there are newer drivers or updates for your printer. The newest drivers for other printers like the 7600/9600 support application running in 64bit mode.

Also, from Mac Help there is this:
Print a document without opening it
In the Finder, you can print a document without first opening the app that created it.
    HidePrint a closed document
In the Finder, select the document’s icon and choose File > Print.
The app in which you created the document opens and your document prints, using your default printer and preset printing options.
To use a printer or options other than the default, you must open the document before printing it, or drag it to the destination printer’s icon in the Dock.
    HidePrint a document by dragging
If you’ve created a desktop icon for a printer, you can print documents by dragging them to the icon. To create a desktop icon, see this help topic:
Create a desktop icon for a printer
To print a document with the default printer and options, drag the document’s icon to the printer’s icon.
To change print options before the document prints, hold down the Option key as you drag the document’s icon to the printer’s icon.
Documents in common formats, such as PDF, PostScript, JPEG, GIF, and text, are printed immediately. Other types of documents open in their apps and are then printed.

  • Another "Dark Prints" with Lightroom discussion

Ok, i've read every post on the internet on this topic. I've tried EVERY combination and solution out there. I have an Epson rx580 photo printer with iBook G4. Prints great in PSE4 and other apps (iphoto, etc). When printing in Lightroom...everything is really dark. Not just a tad. I've used epson profiles, managed by printer, managed by lightroom, changd color profiles, no color management, epson vivid...you name it. The only thing that comes close is choosing colorsync. My monitor is calibrated thru color vision Spyder system. I've reformatted HD, reinstalled lightroom, epson drivers, software. eliminated all non epson drivers. Hooked directly in USB slot on laptop...cleaned heads, alighned heads....changed cartridges. What gives???? I should not have find printing anymore difficult in lightroom than PSE 4. Oh yea..I only loaded lightroom when reformatted HD (no PSE4). Did I miss anything else? Please don't reply with any obvious answers that are already all over the net. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Abery-
I've previously posted a thread similar to yours. I use an Epson R2400 with a MacPro using OS 10.4.10. Every print came out darker than what appeared on the screen. I too tried "every" solution mentioned, which I won't repeat here. Alas, while roaming the forums I came upon a solution that appears to solve the "dark print" issue, although I'm not completely sure why. Here it is. With a photo selected from Library, select an appropriate template in Print. In the Print Job select the appropriate paper Profile in Color Management. Use Page Setup to select your printer and the appropriate paper info. Next select Print Settings to select your printer AGAIN and make sure the Preset is STANDARD. Select Print Settings, then appropriate Media Type. In the same box I've selected the Mode-Advanced, Print Quality-Best Photo, checked High Speed and Finest Detail. Under Color Management (especially important) select No Color Adjustment. All of the above has been mentioned in many previous threads. What comes next is the critical part I found recently one dark night when I was too tired to remember where, although I wrote down the procedure to try later. With all the above set up the suggestion was to then HOLD the OPTION key and select Print. This apparently bypasses the subsequent printer dialog and sends the info from LR directly to the printer. Therefore there is no double management as has been mentioned in other threads. The process results in the print being as nearly identical to the monitor as I have ever been able to produce.

  • Dynamic Form Print Dialog Presets

For a Dynamic form, is it possible to define the Print Dialog Preset for Page Scaling?
In Acrobat, the option (File > Properties > Advanced ) is disabled for Dynamic forms, and there doesn't seem to be a way of setting it in Designer.
Is there some way to trick it (i.e. by setting it in some xml in the xdp that is not documented)?
It's a real pain having dynamic forms that get shrunk when printed.....

    Hi,
Yes, it is not a pretty (or complete) solution!!
I don't think you can disable the File/Print or Control+P (nor would you want to). In Acroforms you can set the print parameters, but as far as I know you cannot do this in LC Designer XFA forms.
This probably is not going to help you but in any one session after the user prints using the button and then subsequently goes File/Print or Control+P, then Acrobat will "remember" the "no scaling".
Some of our multi page forms are split into sections, so to encourage users to use the print button we have buttons in each section, which are set to print that section only (this is useful to the user 'cause they do not need to work this out). If the user wants all of the document, they can click the radio button in the print dialogue. We also colour the print buttons green (with white captions) as a positive / go colour.
Someone else may have a more elegant / efficient solution that sets the print parameters on opening the form or prePrint.
I don't know what Adobe are planning, but you could add it to the wish list: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_next/feature_requests
Sorry I could not be of more help!
    Good luck,

  • Unable to print with my Canon PIXMA IP 4700 and JetDirect network appliance

After many tries I decided to post my question.
I have a Canon PIXMA IP 4700 connected to the network with a Jetdirect 175X box. So I tried to add a new printer with a "HP Jetdirect Socket" port. I have previously installed the driver from the official website. The test page is staying on the spooler.
I also tried with LPD port (supported by the Jetdirect box) and IPP but nothing is working.
When the printer is directly connected with USB, it's working fine. Printing from my others Windows computers is working fine too since many months.
    Thank your for your help.

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Your problem is being caused by the Canon driver. It cannot be used when the printer is connected to the USB port of a 3rd party print server, or if shared by Windows.
The solution is to use a driver like Gutenprint or PrintFab. Gutenprint is preferred because it is free (it ships with OS X) however the iP4700 is not listed as a supported model. The iP4600 is listed so you could try selecting this model in the Print Using menu (shown as Canon PIXMA iP4600 - Gutenprint v5.2.3). If the iP4600 Gutenprint driver does not work that well then you could look at using [PrintFab|http://www.printfab.net] which does support the iP4700. It costs €49 but there is a 30 day trial so at least you can try it before committing to buying.
Another option would be to use a Airport device, like the Express, instead of the Jetdirect print server. With the printer connected to its USB port you can then use the Canon iP4700 driver on the Mac.

  • How to print with HP Deskjet 2510 with Imac G5 on Tiger ?

    Hi Folks
I desperately need some helping hand....
Today my old trusty printer died (HP 1510 print/scan/ copy) and I ran to buy another one because I need to finish some tax paperwork.
In a mad hurry, I didn't pay any attention to tech specs and I went home with brand new HP DeskJet 2510 All In One device. But !!! : ((
In my home office I still use Imac G5 with 10.4.11 which is still pretty good comp for office work but I found out that the HP 2510 don't officially support my Imac with Tiger. Only from 10.6 and later.... I know that Imac G5 can't run nothing above 10.5.
So, is there any way to "force" HP 2510 to somehow recognize my Imac G5? In "about my mac" on USB port, the HP 2510 is visible ....
    Many thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Sven

So, is there any way to "force" HP 2510 to somehow recognize my Imac G5?
You may be able to get it to print with something like this:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
although i do not see taht modle on the "Supported Printers" page. You might look again.
BUT that workabout does not support scanning, only printing.
I think you need to return the printer and look to either Canon or Brother. Brother especially has been better about suporting older Mac OS versions but you'll still need to get a model number and search the maker's site BEFORE buying to see if they show older drivers for download.
