Prints are not near as crisp as shown on screen

Hi, I am new to the digital camera. After uploading my images and working on them in photoshop, the image looks clear and crisp on screen. When the print is complete, it looks a bit blurry and milky. I'm printing on both Epson 22oo and 2400. What am I missing? Thanks!

Trish, open your image in Editor, and then go to Image>Resize>Image Size. Copy down the information about the image, because that number you grabbed for the pixel dimension is pretty useless for this purpose. We'll have more to work with if we get either the dimension of the image in pixels (example, 3073 wide X 2304 high), which is toward the top of the screen, or give it in inches and the resolution number that's showing in the box. All is even better, so we can see what you've been trying to work with.

does anyone know how to fix this? I also use C1 pro and get much sharper results but prefer the colour in Aperture

As far as I am aware the card is read by the computer as it is without any form of enhancement and sent to the computer and printed.
If I print from the Photo Gallery the prints are as sharp as above.
I would have expected printing from Photoshop to be the same.
No, that's not that simple. Printing means resizing (resampling) most of the time and depending on your printer type/printer driver, a default sharpening is generally applied.
By the way, more sharpening does not necessarily mean better quality. That's the advantage of being able to control both resizing and sharpening from the editing software. There has been many books written on the 'art' of sharpening.

  • Printing.  My prints are not printing at the proper size.  If I designate 5x7 it prints at something around 4x3.  I have set all the parameters.

When you saye a you have set all the parameters, does that include the cell size in the print module? Are you printing on 5 x 7 paper? And, if you are, have you set that paper size in the page setup?

  • Custom options in Adobe PDF printer are not showing up in "Default Settings"

    Hello,
I am using Windows 7 and I am trying to create custom "Default Settings" in my Adobe PDF printer. When I make edits to an existing setting, click "Save As..." and save with a new filename, the new settings are not showing up in the "Default Settings" drop down box in the "Adobe PDF Settings" tab of the "Adobe PDF Document Properties" dialogue box. I can confirm that the new settings are indeed saved on my hard drive and are located in:
    C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings
No matter how many different custom settings I save as described above, they are simply now showing up. This works for me on other computers, but just happens not to work on my current one, which recently had an OS reinstall from scratch. Prior to the reinstall, it worked just fine on my computer (an ASUS UX31A laptop). The included pictures demonstrate what I'm talking about.
    Any thoughts?

I finally solved this. The path for the Adobe PDF Settings was set to the follwing in the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\PDF Settings):
        C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\
Even though "%USERNAME%" should work, it doesn't. I just replaced it with my actual username and it worked.

  • Firefox and printer are not talking

I upgraded my system to Windows 7. I reloaded the newest Firefox onto the new system. Now my Canon printer and Firefox are not communicating. I request a print out and receive a blank sheet of paper. My printer works fine in all other programs - including Explorer. Help! I would prefer to browse with Firefox but am thinking I may have to return to Explorer. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Margins on print copies from HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer are not aligned with original document

My HP Office ject Pro 8600 Printer is not printing the same margins as my original document.  The left margin on the print copy is 3/4" too far to the right.  The margin on the right is too far right and the text is being printed off the page! The problem seemed to start when I loaded Avery Labels to print. I run a non-profit and need to make copies asap for a sponsorship letter for a fundraising event.

  • CR Viewer tool bar images are missing; Export and Print are not working

    Hi There
I used Crystal report 10.5(VS 2008 base crytal report -- CRRedist2008_x86.msi), i developed ASP.net application using VB.net  program(i used .net 3.5). One of the pages in the application is having crystal report viewer, which is calling a crystal report to populate the result. The report is working as expected on development machine (Win Vista). Hence, I moved the application onto Server (Windows Server Web; 32Bit OS and IIS). I installed the CRRedist2008_x86.msi, which added the "aspnet_client" under default website. As my site is a made as an application under default webiste. I tried...
    a) By copying the aspnet_client folder into the website folder
    b) By adding a virtual directory called "aspnet_client" under my website pointing it into the folder under "default website"
None of the trials are working for me.
When I click on Print or Export buttons (although their images are missing), I get the error sigh on bottom left (status bar) of the browser and the popping up the same giving me below error details

    Hello All.
I am excited to let you know that the issue is being resolved.
Here is steps that lead me to resolution and solution..
I installed Fiddler2 and looked into every the debugging details of the transaction while running the report.
Learned that the crystal report is using the aspnet_client foler under "Default website" NOT under the crrent website.
Hence I tried to access the image via http path from local machine
    http://myserver/aspnet_client/system_web/2_0_50727/CrystalReportWebFormViewer4/images/toolbar/export.gif.
(Notice, "mysite" folder is been removed)
I was expecting to see the gif on my browsers' body. It gave me an error.
Investigated further more on the error and found that the "Managed Pipe Line" of the respective application pool is to be changed to "Classic" instead of "Integrated"
    changed it .. Boom...
Tool bar is showing up with proper images and as well the "Export" and "Print" functions are working as expected..
Hope this helps to those in the same situation.
Again.. this is one of many many solutions on this issues.
    Thank You

  • Emails I print are not legible. How can I fix this ?

The text when I print emails come out with spaces between the letters of all words.
How can I get my emails to print correctly?
This does not happen if I print using word. This does not happen if I print the same email using explorer .

If it was fixed in the nightly's on 2-28 then I would be able to print again. I hope there is a fix before long, this is a bad issue for alot of us.

  • About viewing images that are not the same dimensions as the iPod screen

I sent some images to my iPod via email. I saved them to my photo library. When I went to look at them, I noticed something odd was happening: my iPod is sort of 'stretching' the images so they fit the entire screen of my iPod, even if that means a) cutting off parts of the image (either top and bottom or the two sides), or b) is stretching the dimensions of the image to fit the screen--I can't tell which is happening, though I think the former.
I can view the image correctly by pinching it a bit, but if I move to another image and come back, it's back to being stretched.
I know that in Photoshop I can add a black boarder (either top and bottom or on the sides), so the image with the border matches the dimensions of the screen, but that seems like a pain in the rear to do with each image. This seems like an odd quirk of the iPod, given that they are trying to use the camera and image viewing as a selling point.
Is there any setting on the iPod so I can keep it from doing this (I noticed that it does this even with photos I take with the iPod camera, because they have slightly different dimensions than the screen)? And if not, does anyone know the ratio (side to top) or resolution (in pixels) of the screen so I can match it.
    Thanks, David

So generous people; thank you for your time.
I visited the camera store and we discovered that my camera lcd was set to the maximum brightness level which completely distorted any understanding of my exposure. What I now see on the lcd in terms of ligt and shadow is very similar to what I see on my computer screen.
Maybe you can shed light on this:
I also may need to just upgrade my imac. On the camera store's late model imac my images were tac sharp but on my imac they look quite soft and still have less light.
There is also still some difference in terms of color settings. My camera's colors have a brighter pinkish tone and on the camera store's imac and mine the tone is yellowish orange.
I will try DPReview and Nikoncafe. My first step is to reset my cameras to factory defaults and then upload and compare.
Thank you both for your help

  • How are the WWDC08 keynote iPhone demos shown on screen?

    Hi,
Does anybody know how the live iPhone demos during the WWDC08 keynote were done? When the demonstrators drive a real iPhone, how does the iPhone screen get shown on the big screen?
    Thanks!

During the original (MacWorld 2007) iPhone demos, Steve Jobs mentioned the demo unit was modified to output to the screen, and you could see a rather ugly box with a cable coming out of it on the back of the phone. I don't know if they explicitly stated that for the iPhone 3G demo, so it's possible they were using unmodified (or less-modified) phones.

  • Icc profiles are not being recognized by epson printer from LR 5 in Mac OS 10.10 yosemite

After switching to Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite) my epson 3880 is no longer recognizing the icc profiles. Is anyone else having this issue?
I've already reinstalled all epson drivers and printer options to no avail. I'm thinking that lightroom and the printer are not communicating the icc profile info?

    Striebig wrote:

That's not how it works. If LR does the color management, it converts the image from its working space (linear ProPhoto RGB) to the space defined by the ICC printer profile that you have designated in the Print module and sends to the printer that (converted) data. The printer driver should be set to "No Color Management" and therefore has no need to know the ICC profile. If you set LR to "Color Management: Managed by Printer", no profile is designated in LR, the data is sent unconverted, and you have to set the driver interface to the appropriate ICC profile - again no communication of the printer profile, although LR does send data that describes the working space so that the driver can make the conversion.
