PrintScreen() Function Causes EXE to QUIT

Hi -
We've been using the PrintScreen() function in a CALC icon to give the participant the ability to print a report that is displayed on the screen.
We've been able to successfully use it on a number of computers, with the challenge being that an 800x600 screen size prints small on an 8.5x11 inch piece of paper. In most cases, by changing the page settings on the printer, we can get it to fill the page (depending on the printer and available print setting options).
Here's the challenge:
At one site, clicking on the Print Screen button (which contains the CALC and the PrintScreen() funtion) brings up printer settings and in this case it appears the printer may not be set up correctly....the user changes to select a new default printer...and when returning to the Authorware file they click on the Print Screen button again and it quits the Authorware program.
It's my understanding that the PrintScreen() function will print to the default printer with the default settings.
In cases where we had no printers at all installed, we get an Authorware warning...but can continue fine and the program does not quit. (It just doesn't print which makes sense.)
Apparently, they were running the EXE file over a network, so I suggested they put it directly on the hard drive. They say that the program still quits even if it is run from the hard drive.
Any suggestions as to what would cause it to quit?
Here are my thoughts so far:
1. Could there be any virus protection software that is considering the attempt to 'PrintScreen' as something 'suspicious' and it's closing the file?
2. Does the default printer get stored in Authorware's memory somehow while it's running, and the process of trying to change the printer causes it to quit?
3. Is there a better way to try to provide a printed report from Authorware than the PrintScreen function?

I use this feature to jump to an HTML file that is provided with the course.
When it's time to print, I read in the HTML file with ReadExtFile.
In the HTML I have already embedded some text that is to be replaced at runtime, with some simple tagging, e.g.
Congratulations , you have completed the course with a passing score of %
In Authorware I use replace functions to replace the text with the actual values stored in Authorware, for e.g.
Html:=Replace("", userName)
Then I write the HTML file to the user's profile folder, and use JumpPrintReturn to print it.
The erase the HTML file.

IWeb widget causes Safari to quit.

I've had my own iWeb site for quite some time now and decided to add a widget to the home page. A simple music player created on Project Playlist. Now whenever I attempt to navigate away from the home page of my site Safari quits unexpectedly. I'm fairly sure that the widget is the cause of this because after removing it Safari behaves as it normally would. Is there anyone else that has this problem and is there a fix?
Any help/comments is greatly appreciated.

Without seeing a Safari crash report it's difficult to say exactly what's causing Safari to quit.
Try troubleshooting third party add ons > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
How much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
If you haven't done so, run Disk Utillity in case the startup disk needs repairing > Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
Keep in mind a Mac running Panther has a much older version of Safari which may have problems accessing certain features on the web.

Capture worked perfectly before, but now causes FCE to quit.

Suddenly now, using the "Capture" command causes FCE to quit completely, without even the message "The application..." appearing.
Up until now, my setup worked fine, and I was able to capture perfectly with this setup:
OS X 10.3.4
QuickTime 6.?
Final Cut Express 2.0.3
Sony DV camera in one FireWire port,
External HD in other port (turned off)
For two years, the above setup worked perfectly and I was able to capture DV from the camera with no trouble.
I recently upgraded the system software and now I am using:
OS X 10.3.9
QuickTime 7.1.3
Final Cut Express 2.0.3
Sony DV camera in one FireWire port,
External HD in other port (turned off)
I also recently added AT&T/Yahoo DSL service, but that is on the Ethernet port so I don't see how that could affect the FireWire port or Final Cut Express. The camera and hard drive have not changed. All that has changed is upgrading to OSX 10.3.9 and upgrading QuickTime to 7.1.3. Now, when I attempt to capture, Final Cut Express simply quits without any messages at all. Any suggestions?

I think you may have lost the ability to capture because of updating your software. Try what the above link instructs, then report back.

Lion update causes Safari two "quit unexpectedly"

Most recent Lion update causes Safari two "quit unexpectedly" on 2 of my iMac's and my Macbook. Has anyone else had the same problem, and/or can anyone help with this? Firefox is working fine.

Cmd+W and cmd+Q non-functional. Must force quit Logic 9.1.4 (SL 10.6.8)

Upgraded from 10.5.8 all the way to 10.6.8 via combo update.
The only app that has been adversely affected is Logic 9.1.4 in both 32-bit and 64-bit modes.
It's really only two items regarding closing and quitting.
Frankly, it seems only the shortcuts and functions under the "File" menu are causing it to either crash or have no effect at all.
All other key commands and menu functions work as expected. AND this is the only app where it happens.
In summary:
cmd+W will not close a window and neither will clicking the X button at the top left of the window. cmd+Q will not quit the app. I must force quit.
cmd+N will make a new project and use the other shortcuts it seems.
I've removed all audio units and any other plugins.
Details:
At first, it would launch and pause for a few seconds. The screen would softly flash white and the app would quit.
I then tried to repair permissions, and attempt the methods discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2375
Logic would launch and function -- except that I couldn't close a project and required a force quit to exit the app.
So I removed the app and prefs again and went into var/db/receipts and removed the Logic associated items (.bom and .plist) which forced a complete re-install but it was to no avail.
Now, as before, it crashes with the soft white screen blink before I can do anything.
I would like to avoid a complete blow-away since Logic appears to be the only app on my system causing any problems in 10.6.8.
Is this a symptom any of you are familiar with?

DLL causes error when quiting LabVIEW 2009 on WIN7

Hello,
I have reduced the problem in my EXE application to the following attached code (see attachment). Somehow the DLL (To User32.dll) calls are creating a problem when quiting Labview 2009. The Application stays resident in the Windows taskbar and after a while an error appears about that there was a problem closing the application and that it can be reported to Microsoft if desired. Then a second error message appears before the application dissapears from the taskbar. If I remove the DLL:calls from the code then the problems dissapear.
Should I unload the DLL calls on a special manner before quiting LabVIEW?

Another potential problem not mentioned in that article is that you have included your user32.dll explicitedly in your built application. Doing that creates 200% for sure trouble as the kernel32.dll, user32.dll and others are always residently loaded into memory anyhow and mapped into the system memory section of any process. If you tell an application to load this DLL again by explicit name, you end up having two copies of it mapped in your process memory space and that will cause very weird problems.
To avoid this problem make sure the library name inside the Call Library Node only specifies the DLL name without any path information. Then close the dialog and save it. If you reopen the dialog it will show the full path but still save the name only until you make a modification in the path control at which time you can end up having a full path again.

Filter on evaluate/db function causing error in OBI report

Hi,
I unable to filter the report on EVALUATE function shown below

above code is one column out of about 20 columns and report is working fine without filter but I want to see the data with work_days >29

Hi Jay,
As you are getting an ORA- error, there is nothing wrong with the OBIEE report or with the fact that the you have used Evaluate in the filters.
This seems like an error while parsing a particular row value for the parameters (Booked Date and Line Status Date) you are passing to the work_days_between_ADS function. Pick up the physical sql and fire it directly on the database and try to identify what values are causing the error (probably at line 8 of the function def).

Every new function causes (not responding), takes a long long time for each operation, everything else on new I7 laptop is fast.

I installed firefox 4 and it starts slow but every function I try causes the term (not responding) on top and it can take several minutes for the function to finish executing. My PC is only 6 mos old with I7 processors, run Panda security software, I did all that your Troubleshooting instruction said to try but still not working correctly.

Spreadsheet functions causing 100% CPU usage

Running ColdFusion Enterprise 9,0,0,251028 with JVM 1.6.0_14 on a Windows 2003 server. I am finding that when using <cfspreadsheet> and the spreadsheet functions to build a spreadsheet the server CPU maxes out at 100% while the spreadsheet object is being built. The spreadsheet is not overly large or complex: 10-15 columns and 400-500 rows. This behavior is consistent - it happens every time, even when building a simple spreadsheet with 1 column and a few rows. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it a known problem with a fix? I was able to root cause the excessive CPU usage to a single-CPU virtual machine. When I ran the same code on dual-CPU virtual machines the CPU usage went to 50-60% but never reached 100% and stayed there as it does on the single-CPU virtual machine. So there appears to be an issue with JRun and Apache POI on single-CPU machines. I simply had my system administrator add another CPU to the virtual machine and the problem no longer occurs.

Viewing Sent Mail Causes Mail to Quit Unexpectedly

I am on an iMac, OS X 10.6.8 using Mail 4.5. I have two different email accounts that I use. No problems with sending messages, but I can not view the copy in the Sent folder for either mailbox. When I try to open a Sent message, Mail crashes with a message 'Mail has quit unexpectedly' and no other information. I really need to access copies of my Sent messages! This happens with both email accts.

I have this too and it's driving me crazy. Wish some expert could address it, 'cause I'm not finding solutions anywhere.
Bit since you posted about this a long time ago, did you figure a fix? Do you remember what it was?

Incorrect Usage of timestamp function cause DB to ignore indexed column.

We upgraded the OBIEE version from version 10.1.3.2.1 to version 10.1.3.4.0. we have a column with type timestamp ( the column characteristics were not changed during the upgrade) and this column is indexed in the database.
In the old version when querying the database the BI used the function to_date which used the index of the column. In the new version the BI uses the function TIMESTAMP which doesn't use the index and thus causes severe performance problems.
I use dynamic repository variable that holds the last value of the column

What is the datatype of SNAPSHOT_DATE_TIME column in the physical layer in the repository?
This happens only for default date prompt value (repository variable) or after you set value also?
What is the filter in Answers, SNAPSHOT_DATE_TIME is prompted?
Maybe you can write manually filter like SNAPSHOT_DATE_TIME = TO_DATE(@{p_v} , 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS') if p_v is TIMESTAMP or DATE (default from initialization block and from drop-down list or calendar).

HP Imaging Device Functions causing errors on LAN

I have 4 computers on my LAN.   For months now, I have been seeing errors on the Ethernet interfaces of 2 computers (netstat -e). The errors occured at regular intervals and seemed to be asscociated with the HP Printer SW associated with the Photosmart C7280 which was configured as a network printer.     (TCPVIEW showed the only network connections being made at the time errors occurred were to the printer.)    The performance of the Internet Explorer was poor and as other networking activities such as sending e-mail were very slow.
When booting the machines in Safe Mode with Networking, the errors do not occur and the performance if IE was significantly better.    I finally got around to investigating this.   My first attempt was to turn off all printer shareing to stop communciation between machines.   This made no difference.    However,   as soon as I uninstalled HP Cutomer Participation Progam 10.0 and HP Imaging Device Functions 10.0 and restarted , the errors completely disappeared.   IE 8 ran like a charm and email clients stopped reporting errors when sending.   I suspect the problem is related to the Digital Imaging Device Functions but I am reluctant to reinstall lest the problem reappear.
Does anybody know the root cause?

After further investigation, I have narrowed this problem down to the Pml Driver HPZ12 service    By disabling this service and rebooting, the problem with errors appearing on the LAN interfaces go away and browsing the Internet is fast.
Along the way I noticed several things.   This problem may be related to the specific Windows Version or aggravated by other SW installed that uses the network.   I installed the complete suite of All-In-One Printer SW (V 10.0.1) on a freshly installed and updated XP Home Edition (SP3) machine with no other SW installed and  no errors occurred on the LAN interface even when I left the system running for days.      However, I un-installed and re-installed the same SW on an XP Professional (SP3) machine which has AV SW, Skype and other SW that uses the network and the errors appear as soon as the Pml Driver Serv ice starts after booting. If I disable the Pml Driver Service and reboot, there are no errors.   Now here is the weird part.    If I manually stop/start the Pml Driver Service, I do not seem to get the errors.
If the Pml Driver service is enabled so that it starts automatically, you get the errors, but typically the count grows to between 50 and 100 and then stabilizes.   However, if a program like Skype (which also uses UDP) starts automatically at the same time the Pml Driver service starts, then you get many more errors and the number keeps growing over time. My guess is that the Pml Driver has a bug in its initialization but I cannot guess what it might be?   Port conflict?

RSS Feeds cause Mail to quit

Whenever I click on the RSS feeds or try to modify or delete them, Mail quits immediately. Any ideas what is causing this?

When an application crashes (i.e. quits unexpectedly), the system writes information about the state of the application at the moment of the crash to a log file. That information is called a crash report and makes troubleshooting easier. In order to find and post the relevant part of the crash report here, proceed as follows:
1. Open ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Mail.crash.log. The whole crash log appears in a Console window (you can also open that file with any text editor). It may contain many crash reports. We only want the latest, which is located at the bottom of the file.
2. Look for a line that begins with “Date/Time:” as close to the bottom as possible, and another that says “Thread N Crashed:”, where N is a number. Select everything from the “Date/Time:” line to the lines immediately following “Thread N Crashed:”. Copy that text and paste it in your post. Do not post the whole crash log, and do not include anything beyond the lines immediately following “Thread N Crashed:” either, just the relevant part.

IT IS COMING ONLY SOMETIMES WHEN EXECUTING A STRORED PROCEDURE
WITH 10 STATEMENTS.
OUT OF THEM ONE REFERES TO REFCURSOR FOR OUT PARAMETER,
THAT QUERY IS LIKE

So is this inline view statement causes for such errors?

CS6 duplicate function causes Run-time error in VB6

After upgrading from CS3 to CS6 the duplicate function is now causing runtime error "Type Mismatch". Error occurs on the last line of code.
All am I trying to achieve is to duplicate a rectangle containing an EPS from one document into another document. The method appears to work but assigning a pageitem value as a function fails.
