Prioritize a service

Is there a possibility to prioritize integrated services or application?
I mean if an user 2 users starts 2 different application via portlets in my portal and the server is pretty busy - do i have the possibility to configure that some applications or services are more prioritized than others?
thanks for replying

  • This is what BT have come to

    Spent 1.5 hours on the phone to BT this morning discussing their poor broadband performance. This is the umpteenth time over the past two weeks, following a period from 23rd May when the performance has not achieved what they stated. After they tried to fob me off again, I said that I would not be able to speak any further and politely said goodbye. Since then they have been ringing my landline and mobile and leaving messages of VERY loud 'on hold' music. It is an obvious act of revenge from the Indian technical (laugh) help centre. (I have kept the messages as evidence). This is what BT have come to. I have requested a MAC number. This is after >20 years with BT, during which time I hadn't realised that the letters stood for British Trash! Maybe it should be renamed IT. You can use your imagination for what the 'I' stands!

    Hi Montyponty,
    If you go to another service provider/ ISP that uses copper cables then that ISP/service provider is likely to use BT Wholesale's network. The majority of the UK's copper line infrastructure is maintained and rolled out by BT Wholesale (BTw) and BT Openreach.
    BT Retail (a service provider/ ISP who are equal to any other like TalkTalk, Sky, Orange, etc...) do not maintain BTw's network so it is likely the problem will still exist with any other service provider / ISP.
    There have been many problems with the telecommunication infrastructure in the UK during the last month. This has been caused by flooding and severe weather that has caused problems with connections and BT Openreach are having to prioritize there service to those who have lost complete connection. This has caused a slight backlog.
    Hope you get it fixed soon,
    James

  • Will the iphone 4s be slower if it is updated to ios 6

    will the iphone 4s be slower if it is updated to ios 6

    To Whomever:
    Wow, I saw this the other day and it got me thinking.  I don't know if this will make any sense, but I am going to give it a try. Please forgive me in advance as i am somewhat technology deficient, but trying!  There are many varied things that can happen with the iPhone, but I have also learned there are simple tweaks that sometimes assist in resolving situations. As when the phone is getting warm, for whatever reason unbeknownst to me, deleting my email accounts and then putting them back in again, helped with the warming of the phone and battery drain.  Which begs the question for me, is there anything we can do to counter the slower activity after upgrading to iOS 6?  And, if so, without shutting off every feature on the phone, would anyone have any suggestions of a prioritization of services that may counter the slowed activity to be shut down after upgrading to improve utilization?  Thank-you!

  • No network connection after a reboot sometimes

    Well i didnt try to assign them out IPs from outside the dhcp pool yet. I dont really want to change the WD's IPs becuaase i have several scripts, rsync, webdav along with transmission that runs on the drive using the specific IP im using right now. Changing the IP of the drive will casue me quite a bit of headache and it would have to go around the house updating computers that map drives to this drive, etc...firewall rules. Just too many things.. However i'm trying something again that i had tried in the past. I've disabled the static lease for the drive from the router however i've configured the drive to use the same static IP address using the WD dashboard. So far i've rebooted 3 times and the drive has back online with no problem. That being said, with this config i used to have anothr issue with the drive that others on this forum have also talked about often. That issue is "the drive disappeards from the network" after some random time. At that point visually everything looks fine on the drive i.e solid blue led, good networking leds in the back etc.. however the drive is not accessble, pinagble, ssh'able etc at that point. Will see how it goes this time. Wil keep you updated...

    Hi again..
    Well the scrip does get run via corn. I have cron log enabled and I can see the script being called.
    I had initially started off with network restart instead of a reboot ..didn't try with if down and if up though..
    I still think that the reason for the drive not rebooting as per my script when I run into this problem might be the fact the script is not readable at that point...perhaps the data partition is not mounted?
    I guess I will try moving the script to / or something...  What its worh this is messages log after the drive recoverd by pulling the power and powering it back on..Issue occured at 14:03, i got home and power cycled it at around 18:05.. The last line for the 14th hour, shows the network link coming up but then it stopped there...Now that i think more about it..so if the logging stopped right there, the drive never proceeded to mount the paritions and thus it seems that the OS never loads completely in this situation and thus my script doesnt even come into play...   Jun 25 14:04:43 nas1 kernel: [ 43.849187] PFE binary version: pfe_nas_2_00_3

  • Qos DSCP value 46 gone, after enabling Remote Desktop Services on Windows 2012 R2 Standard

    Hi,
    After installing a clean Windows Server 2012 R2 with
    all Windows updates I have setup Policy-Based QoS for tagging defined traffic,
    in the test case all traffic to one specific ip address. Whireshark logging
    displays the correct configured (46) dscp value so the group policy is
    working fine. After installing Remote Desktop Services the Policy-Based QoS is
    still in place but Wireshark results that the value is 0.
    Can somebody explain why this happens and how to solve
    it?
    Regards, Edward

    Hi Edward,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Did you find any related error for your case?
    By default, Windows traffic has a DSCP value of 0. Network routers use the DSCP value to classify network packets and to queue them appropriately. The number of queues and their prioritization behavior needs to be designed as part of your organization's QoS
    strategy. For example, your organization may choose to have five queues: latency-sensitive traffic, control traffic, business critical traffic, best effort traffic, and bulk data transfer traffic.

  • On a 3750 enhanced services port, are hierarchical queueing and standard queuing features mutually exclusive?

    When you configure hierarchical queueing on an enhanced services port, should one also configure the egress queue chararcteristics such as buffer space and thresholds, shaped/shared weights, egress priority queue, etc., that is all of those characteristics that one would configure if one were configuring a port for standard QOS.  In other words, on an enhanced services port, are the hierarchical queueing features using the modular QOS CLI and the standard egress queueing features supposed to be used together or are they mutually exclusive?

    Hi Christine,
    Answer to your confusion is in the following document.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/metro/catalyst3750m/software/release/12.1_14_ax/release/notes/OL464603.html#wp58682
    On an ES port, you can use LLQ (enabled with the priority policy-map class configuration command) and the egress priority queue (enabled with the priority-queue out
    interface configuration command). By using these two features, you can
    give priority to a class of traffic and avoid losing traffic when the
    switch is congested. In previous releases (before the egress priority
    queue was supported), you could put a traffic class into the
    strict-priority queue, but congestion at the egress queue-sets could
    result in the dropping of that priority traffic. The priority-queue out
    interface configuration command enables you to prioritize the same
    traffic class at the egress queue-sets, ensuring that priority traffic
    reaches the hierarchical queues and is processed with priority.
    you can also fine tune the Queue-sets for your desired results.

  • Books and resources teaching J2EE 5 (and creating web services using it)

    Hi!
    I'm starting a new job next week, developing a J2EE 5 system. I have a solid background in J2SE 1.4 and know most of the new syntactical and semantic stuff in J2SE 5.
    What I need is a good book teaching J2SE 5 to someone inexperienced with J2SE in general. There isn't a need for me to study J2SE 1.4 as we won't be using it. Also, we will develop some web services using the platform. As time is of the essence I'd prioritize learning about those within the platform, at first.
    I don't need to read the entire book in one week, of course. But I need something to study and also have as a reference by my side when programming.
    As the offerings in J2SE 5 books seems quite low, I need some advice from you, more experienced people. What book or web resource do you recommend? Thank you for your time reading this post!
    Best Regards,
    Kent

    Hello Kent!
    I have found "Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0" by by Richard Monson-Haefel and Bill Burke really interesting. If you have some knowledge about Java EE in general go for it it's really good one!

  • Using NBAR to Prioritize Citrix Traffic

    Hi can anyone help, I am trying to set up NBAR to prioritize Citrix traffic using the ICA tags in the Citrix frame header. But I cannot get it to work.
    We are using version 6 PDLM, IOS 12.3(4)T on a 7206 when we check the policy map stats there are no matches, we have also sniffed the citrix traffic to check that it is being marked. The configuration is as follows (the gig0/3 interface is the main interface of a 802.1q VLAN trunk i.e. the traffic we want to mark is coming in over the sub interfaces)
    class-map match-all Citrix-medium
    match protocol citrix ica-tag "1"
    class-map match-all Citrix-high
    match protocol citrix ica-tag "0"
    class-map match-all Citrix-background
    match protocol citrix ica-tag "3"
    class-map match-all Citrix-low
    match protocol citrix ica-tag "2"
    policy-map ABCCITRIX
    class Citrix-high
    set dscp ef
    class Citrix-medium
    set dscp 11
    class Citrix-low
    set dscp 11
    class Citrix-background
    set dscp 11
    class test
    set dscp af43
    interface GigabitEthernet0/3
    no ip address
    ip nbar protocol-discovery
    service-policy input ABCCITRIX
    duplex auto
    speed auto
    media-type rj45
    no negotiation auto

    Have you tried assigning your service-policy input to the subinterface where traffic is received rather than to the main interface?
