Proble with file reciever adapter

Hi ,
File reciever adapter is writing empty(Blank) files ...i.e there is no data when transfer mode is text and illgible when transfer mode is binary.However in communication channel monitoring I see ...my message under message content ...audit log things look fine as well The message status set to DLVD..However in message monitoring (mdt ) there in details it shows general error and no details of this error.

Please check your processing parameters for str, because as you said str is message type,do not use for it.if str is node then use endseparater.
and if record structure is having multiple occur, then use resord,*

How to ignore columns in CSV File with File Sender Adapter

Hi,
I have a CSV File that I need to load with XI. The File contains 10 columns but I only need the data from 3 columns, let's say column 1,4 and 7. Can I configure the XI File Sender Adapter in a way that it only loads the data for the required columns and ignores the rest?

Dont think so. Why not create Dummy fieldName for these columns you want to ignore.?

Pick up a specific file with File Sender Adapter.

Hi guys,
I would like to know how I can pick a specific file in a file pool (folder)? I would like to choose this file by name, like FileA or FileB, etc.
Im asking this because I have an asynchronous file scenario (BPM) with a receiver adapter that put the File with a specific name (variable substitution) in a folder.
And I would like to do something like this:
In another asynchronous scenario (BPM), a File sender adapter picks up this specific file (using the name). The correlation is made trough an IDOC that XI receives before pick up the file, this IDOC has payload field with the name of file to be picked.
Is it possible receives the IDOC, read the field with the name of the file to be picked and choose this specific file? In a Sender File Adapter how I can do something like variable substitution like receiver adapter does.

No this is not possible. The only dynamic thing you can do is use wild card characters like *.
So, maybe you can pick a file like . or AA. and so on...

Dynamic file naming with File/FTP adapter

Hi all,
I have a requirement for writing files with names of the files based on a customer ID.... a dynamic name based on a value retrieved from the customer DB.
I have already tried using the dynamic file naming suggestion in the bpel dev guide, it does not work. I followed the instructions, the process fails to compile and throws "part" and "undefined variables" errors etc.
Has anyone succesfully used file/ftp adapter to write files with dynamic file names (using a varibale), not %SEQ% or %datetime% formats?

You can create a header variable that will allow you to set the outbound file name inside the process. This variable is a message type. From the type chooser select:
Message Types
Partner Links
Outbound Partner Link
Outbound wsdl
Message Types
Imported WSDL
fileAdapterOutboundHeader.wsdl
OutboundHeader_msg
This variable will have a part filename.
Set this part to whatever you wish your file to be named.
Select the invoke to your outbound file/ftp partnerlink. Move to the adapters tab and select the header variable you created as the Input Header Variable.

How to split big xml-messages with file inbound adapter

Hello,
we have big xml-messages in our filesystem, which are processed by XI 3.0 (SP11). We are using the file inbound adapter. Now we want to split these big xml-message into some smaller messages.
Exist there a corresponding function to the "xml.recordsetsPerMessage" which is working with xml-files?

Problem with file sender adapter and endSeparator

have the following situation: with a sender File adpater i have to receive the same structure of data but in two mode.
1) First mode : each recorset is defined as a file line
   Example (not fields separator):
   fielda,fieldb,fieldc
   field2a,field2b,field2c
2) Second mode : recorset of the same line without end
    separator and fieldseparator
   Example (not fields separator):
   fielda,fieldb,fieldc,field2a,field2b,field2c,......
I configured the adapter as follow.
structure.fieldFixedLengths      1,2,3
structure.fieldNames             field1,field2,field3
structure.lastFieldsOptional     YES
structure.processFieldNames      fromConfiguration
structure.endSeparator           'nl'
PROBLEM
Mode 1) works but mode 2) doesn't work.
Could anyone solve my problem??

Hi,
Try using two differnt record structure name for each mode.for eg give it as structure1 and structure2.then u give the content conversion parameter for both the recordset depending on ur requirement i.e, with and without end seperator.

Can any one expalin step by step procedure(after installation of see burger adapter in SDM) using sender see burger adapter with the port details?
For this do we need to write any adapter modules in integration directory?
Also pls give me clarification on 850 and 997 messages?

Hi,
Deploy the standard seeburger mapping provided by see burger on XI .Then you need to call that mapping in the adapter module which does the conversion from EDI to XML and XML to EDI. You need to call the BIC module in the communication channel configuration and configure the module parameters like
bic- destSourceMsg = MainDocument
bic- destTargetMsg = MainDocument
bic- mappingName-something like ....See_E2X_ANSIX12_850_V4010
Once if you are able to convert the edifile to xml, then the remaining proxy configuration will be same as just for normal scenarios.

You can use the standard BIC module or you can very well write your own adapter module to convert EDI to xml and configure it in the communication channel.

850 is purchaseorder EDI document and 997 is the functional acknowledgement

Configuring the sender FILE adapter 
The sender file adapter is configured to pick the normal payload (file1.xml), which is specified in the File
access parameters, and the additional image file (file1.jpg) that is to be sent as an attachment is configured
under the Additional File(s) as shown in the screenshot below. The file type would still remain binary.
Since, by default, XI sends payload and attachments in XML format, we need to call two beans, namely the 
MessageTransformBean and the PayloadSwapBean to help us is transforming the content to jpeg format
and also change the file extension.
The PayloadSwapBean module is used to replace the application payload of the XI message that holds the
data with another payload which is appended to the message as an attachment. In our case, the payload
would be file1.xml whereas the attachment would be file1.jpg
The swap module is denoted in our scenario with the module key swap. It has two parameters from the
MIME header. They are

File Reciever content conversion header line

Hi all,
I want to convert a XML to a CSV-file using file reciever adapter.
Doing this I want to add the
The parameter for content conversion:
recordset: ET_AWB,item
parameter list:
item.addHeaderLine = 1
item.fieldSeparator = ;
ET_AWB.addHeaderLine = 1
ET_AWB.fieldSeparator = nl
The file is created successfully but the header line is not writen. Could it be that the header line is only created if the recordset is a single type?

thanks for the information!
My scenario is a RFC-Message with more than 1 table which is mapped into several RFC-Messages (Message split).
Because I use RFC-functions for mapping I do not want to change the XML because then I would need an own DT/MT.
Probably because the record type is not a single recordset it doesn't function.
Unfortunately also the option from Prakash with explicitely defined header names doesn't function. Has anybody one more idea? Or is this what I want to do impossible?

How to use the Run Operating system command after message processing option in the parameters tab of the file receiver adapter.
I am working on a scenario wherein a batch file needs to be invoked after the file is written on the file system.
So how do i invoke this batch file from the file reciever adapter ( Run Operating system command after message processing ).

File sender adapter is not working

Hello All,
We are facing a problems with file sender adapter. Communication channel is not picking the files from the directory, but the status in RWB for that channel is 'Functioning'. We are not sure whether the channel is locked or any other problewm with adapter. (In Alternate option, we have created copy of that channel and when it is activated, it picked the file )
Can anyone help us how to identify whether channel is locked and any other solutions in this case.

The file adapter ( The respective channel) is definitely locked in PI . Ideally for each polling interval a lock is being created and once the processing is over , the lock should be released/deleted automatically to allow further polling interval. If the lock is not released by the system automatically,further polling will not happen as expected. ( This may affect all sender file adapters as well. I would recommend to do a check in al sender file communication channels)
You can see/delete the locks in Visual admin.
Go to Server>Services->Locking adapter and click refresh
The entries for file adapter ( with name $XIAFFileAdapter) should be deleted by selecting those particilar entries and click delete selected locks.
If you have more than one node, then same should be done in all server nodes.
The temprory solution would be creating/copy the existing channel in ID with same properties and assign it into particular sender agreement.
But, the lock may be created again which potentailly stops all your file based interfaces. Hence i would suggest to use Timeout parameter avialable in file sender adapter which termiates FTP session as you defined, This should solve your issue permanently.
The FTP server do have thier own time out settings but if you don't defne any particulat time out in PI, the FTP server forcefully disconnects the FTP sessions which created locks in PI.
Hope this solves your issue.
PS: The same bahaviour would expected for all sender JDBC adapter as well

Problem with FIle Adapter

Hi
We r facing typical problem with file adapter.
Lets say there are 30 files to be processed by placing an copy in arichive folder by file adapter based on pooling
parameters.
All the 30 files are picked up and we can see the copies in archive folder.
But when we go to RWB and check the audit log,
there we could see only 25 files , the 5 files are missing.
no trace found therre about the 5 files.
This is happening only some times and not to all the files placed in the FTP. Later when the same file is placed back from the Archive folder to the Source folder, the file is being picked and processed succesfully.
unfortunately this is happening on Production server
Any pointers which could trouble shoot this issue.

Hi,
Couple of thing which you can try....
1. Use EOIO QoS and check if you still face the issue.
Is some program or application writing files to the directory? If yes I would recommend the use of a temporary name to write the files and then rename them.
Sometimes when an external application connects via FTP and transfers the files...
The file could be picked up by the adapter poll even before the transfer of data is done.
Which is why you will find that the file is archived but there is no xml message created for the same in the Integration engine.
Try increasing the poll interval. This helps sometimes.

Problem with file content conversion in receiver file adapter

Hi All
I have a problem with file content conversion in receiver file adapter.
This is my recordset structure: Header_Record,1,Claim_Record,*,Check_Rec,1
These are the content conversion parameters:
Header_Record.fieldSeparator = ,
Header_Record.endSeparator = 'nl'
Claim_Record.fieldSeparator = ,
Claim_Record.endSeparator = 'nl'
Check_Rec.fieldSeparator = ,
Check_Rec.endSeparator = 'nl'
In SXMB_MONI, i can see that the data is correctly extracted from proxy, and correctly mapped to receiver message, and i see a checkered flag (success).
But, Adapter status is RED with the following error message:
Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found: Parameter '1.fieldFixedLengths' or '1.fieldSeparator' is missing
In communication channel monitoring, i get the following error message:
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Channel has not been correctly initialized and cannot process messages
What is going wrong here? Can anyone please tell me?

Using file receiver adapter with a different user

Hello.
I have a simple question (at least I think it is)
Can I use a file receiver adapter (where the transport protocol is NFS - not FTP)
so that a different user will access the directory (not the usual SAPServiceSID)?
I don't see any place for using username and password, and using the FTP protocol is not possible
because of security reasons.
Any help Appreciated.

I have a microsoft network share on a different server then the PI.
When I use the path:
server\share
I manage to successfully put a file via the file receiver adapter, with NFS as the transport protocol.
However in order to do this, the owner of the share had to give credentials to the user: SAPServiceSID of my PI system
which is an active directory user.
The owner wants me to use a local user instead.
Can this be done with a local user?

Cant do a file get from external server using file sender adapter with ftp

Hi all,
Up until now our company has only used the file sender adapter with ftp protocol to get a file from our XI server for processing and input the file into an integration process
I have a requirement to do an ftp file get from an external server
From our XI development server I can ftp directly to the external server and view the required directory using the command window via a DOS prompt (FTP open ...). So all firewall issues and communications are fine
Unfortunately I cannot currently pull files from the external server using the XI file adapter with ftp protocol from the XI development server AWB017
FTP Connection Parameters: External server name using port 21, Data Connection is Passive, No security, I supply a userid and password
Processing Parameters: Processing Mode is Archive (I tried test but this did not work either)
No messages appear in the RWB
Is there something else that I need to set up in order for the external ftp get to work via the XI file adapter?

I have found the error messages in the File Adapter Monitor
Scenario 1
When I prefix the source directory with a forward slash, eg /Folder/Subfolder the error message is as follows
EST: Error: Error connecting to ftp server 'ip address': FTPEx: /Folder/Subfolder: The system cannot find the path specified
Scenario 2
When I DO NOT prefix the source directory with a forward slash, eg Folder/Subfolder a different error message is returned
Error: Retrieving file 'FILENAME.XML' failed unexpectedly: FTPEx: Folder/Subfolder: The system cannot find the path specified
At least in this scenario the adapter has been able to identify the file on the external FTP site but cannot retrieve it
Questions
I thought that the backslash prefix for the source directory was mandatory but I am receiving an error in each scenario
I receive the same error message whether the Processing Mode is 'Archive' or 'Test'
The logs on the external ftp server seem to indicate that I am simply connecting, sending username and password then quiting straight away. I am not issuing any commands that they can see
I thought that being a Sender adapter it would inherently execute a Pull or Get command
To recap, from our XI development server I can ftp directly to the external server and view the required directory using the command window via a DOS prompt (FTP open ...). So all firewall issues, communications, userid and password are fine
Has anyone experienced these issues?
Please advise on next course of action?
