Problem accessing applet with images

I created a JApplet with images and icons in it. (The images are on my C drive). When I add the applet to an html page, and run it, the applet isn't loaded, but I get an IO error saying that I don't have security permission to access the images. Is there someway to switch of this security, or to put the images in a jar file and access the images from the jar file?? Thank you for your help!!

By default applets can't read files off the hard drive.
The easiest way to handle this is to put the images and other resources (such as properties files) in the same jar file as the classes, and then use Class.getResource or Class.getResourceAsStream to load them.

Java 7: Problems launching applets with jars on "file://" location

Hi,
We are experiencing a problem when updating our client's JRE from Java6 U 21 up to Java7 U 55.
We have developed an Applet which is composed by several JAR files. Some of those JARs must be stored in local drive, and the JAR with the main Java class is stored on server.
Let's supose we have a similar scenario like this:
https://blahblahbah/bar.jar
https://blahblahbah/test.html
C:/foo.jar
The code of test.html:

This code works fine on Java 6 and Applet is correctly loaded.
However, with Java 7 a security exception is raised when trying to load JAR files from "file:///" location during Applet launch:
java.lang.SecurityException: Permission denied: file:/C:/foo.jar
    at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2Manager._loadJarFiles(Unknown Source)
We have tried several tests using a java.policy file which grants all possible permisions:
grant codeBase "file:/C:/foo.jar" {

permission java.security.AllPermission;
We also tried to low Java's security level to "MEDIUM", with no success.
We finally only managed to run the Applet if we explicity disable the "Next-Generation Plugin" with Internet Explorer 8. However, that's not a suitable solution, and still does not work with Mozilla family browsers.
Eventhought with Mozilla browsers is still not working.
Is there any restrictions in Java 7 that prevents to read jars from being loaded from local drive when launching Applets?

I had read the whole message before posting mine. It's not the same problem. I'm able to run the sample signed applet always having the jar in the same location than the HTML page serving the applet via JNLP:

However, the security exception raises when trying to read that jar from local drive:

I have even tried to decompile JNLP2Manager class, without seeing anything useful on that loadJarFiles method
The only way I managed to avoid the problem is unchecking the New Generation Plugin and running the Applet with IE. Not a suitable solution for me at all..

Problem accessing applet methods since 1.4.2_06

I'm working with ie 6.0
I'm accessing applet methods from javascript
My applets were working fine until I installed the JRE 1.4.2_06 (I tested them with JRE 1.4.2_05 and it worked)
Now, when I call an applet method from javascript, I have a javascript exception, as if the applet is not loaded, but I think it is : I can see it in the traces in the java console !
I didn't modify the code, just the JRE.
It doesn't work with jre 1.5 too

When you open the page it should say "this is init" in the java console
if the test button doesn't work try the getElementById way.

I would suggest you to check the driver site of toshiba

search for your machine and download the wlan drivers. If you dont know which one you need just download all of them and install em, one of that drivers MUST work. ;)

Is anyone having problems accessing WIFI with their iPhone

Just noticed that yesterday I can't access WIFI with my iPhone 5s. Happened at my office and at home. WIFI works both places as Macbook works. Anyone else finding this ?

I don't wnat you to have any issues with your device, tracybayne! Let's get to work to make sure we get you up and running. Have you been able to try to reset the network settings in your phone? The best way to do that is to go into Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. The phone will power cycle and then you will need to re-type in all the wi-fi passwords again. Once that is done, please re-test it out. Keep us posted.

Security popup accessing applet with https

I have a website that serves everything over https. One of the things being served is an applet. I've found that just before the first request is made for the applet's .class files, I get a popup from the Java plug-in saying:
Warning - Security
The web site's certificate has been verified. Do you want to continue?
I'm not sure what this is trying to tell me, is this a problem or just a friendly message? I look at "More Information..." and it says that the cert being used was issued by a trusted company, and that it is valid.
I'm lead to believe that Java is just being nice and telling me that I'm interacting with a site that has a good certificate. My problem is this stupid popup is going to ruin my demo. I want to turn it off, or do whatever is necessary not to get it. I've gone through the various Java settings, and can't figure it out.
I do see that the second time I go to the site (after I clear the popup) I don't get a popup again. However, this doesn't help me because I'm generating certs on the fly, and every new one causes the popup to reappear.
Any ideas on what I can do? I see that I'm using JRE 1.5.0_09 as my Java Applet Runtime version.

Applet with Image not working in Browser, works fine in Appletviewer

Hi,
I encountered a problem , running my Applet in a browser. (IE and Firefox, ame problem).
When I use an ImageIcon, it doesnot work. in a browser.(When I remove the icon, it's oke)
In Appletviewer it works fine. In the browser I first got a security-exception.
I dealed with that by signing the jar (with the test certificate).
Now the browser's java console is not showin any faults, but the applet is showing no picture at all.
Only the text of the label is shown.
Can someone help me?
I downgraded the class to a very simple form, shown underneath. This runs fine in Appletviewer, but not in a Browser.

I have recently had the same problem, after lots of searching, I found that only Java 1.1 is supported by browsers, leaving out everything else including swing. So if you cant play the applet through your browser you need to download the appropriate patch i think about 5mbs.
You should find one at java.sun.com/getjava/download.html

Problem printing Report with Image in BI Publisher 11g

I am working with BI publisher *11g* but I have problem printing images. Everything works fine if I do not include any images however when I add a image I get following problems.
When I tried printing PDF in output I get

Isn't there a way for you to do this via a Package/Procedure versus having multiple queries?
Per the BI Publisher guide,

While multiquery data models are often easier to understand, single-query data models tend to execute more quickly. It is important to understand that in parent-child queries, for every parent, the child query is executed.
You should only use multiquery data models in the following scenarios:
To perform functions that the query type, such as a SQL query, does not support directly.
To support complex views (for example, distributed queries or GROUP BY queries).
To simulate a view when you do not have or want to use a view.

Size limit of access database with image files stored outside database

I have read 2GB limit on size of Access database. We are using Access 2013 database with fields that are data type attachment and storing attached images outside the database. Does the size of the folder that is holding these images count
in any way toward 2GB size limit?

As far as I know, Access database limit size 2GB based on itself, not related to the folder size. Attachment data
type is similar to attaching files to e-mail messages. We need to control the Access database size is smaller then 2GB.
When a field is defined with the attachment data type, you can store one or more files for each record in it.
Attachments can dramatically increase the size of the database, but since the attached file is stored as a part of the dabatbase, you are not dependent on network drives being available as you would be if you inculded a hyperlink to the file. As a matter of
fact, feel free to backup the origainal file to other disk after you attach it to the database.

Have you tried signing your applet?
to sign an applet , you can approach 3d parties like Thawte or you can sign them yourself.
Package your class file into a .jar, Create your own keystore, sign the jar file using this keystore.
Then you will be able to open it in a browser.

Problem accessing iPlanet with Firewall

We have iPlanet 4.1 SP9 webserver installed in Solaris 8. The server is configured with IP address 10.98.23.17. We are able to access our JSP web application successfully thru intranet without any firewall.
But, we face problems while accessing with Firewall. I will explain the situation below :
We have another network with ip range 193.1.1.XXX. There is a firewall between 193.1.1.XXX and 10.99.23.XXX.
When the user in the 193 network types URL as htp://193.1.1.38/test which is the firewall IP, the firewall does the NATting and handover the request to 10.98.23.17. The reply from the iplanet to the user is coming back as http://10.98.23.17/test. Since, 10.98.23.17 is not reachable from 193 network, he is not able to access the web application.
I want the reply from iPlanet to the user to come as http://193.1.1.38/test. How to solve this problem ? Kindly help me ?

It sounds like you need to modify the ServerName line in the config/magnus.conf configuration file to reflect the externally visible hostname or IP address. In your case, the config/magnus.conf file should contain the following line:
ServerName 193.1.1.38

Problems importing keywords with image

I have exported keywords from another program (IMatch) to both embedded iptc and xmp files. The problem is that I can't get LR to assign the keywords to the pictures when importing, or when trying the "import meta from xmp file" option. I have tried with both jpeg- and cr2-files (cr2 is raw from EOS 20D). The strange thing is that all keywords assigned to the pictures shows up to the left in the keywords panel, so LR somehow reads the keywords from the files and knows about the existence of these keywords, but, as I said, does not assign the keywords to the keywords field of the respective images. The keywords show up perfectly fine in Adobe Bridge.

Can't say, as I don't have Aperture installed- actually did, but trial ran out- to test definitively.

Problems Accessing Website with Safari 4.1

We have a person that cannot access www.fowa.org using Safari 4.1 using Mac OSX 10.4.11 - any access problems we need to know about? Access is no problem on multiple other versions of Safari, Firefox, MACS and PCS. Cannot replicate the problem.

Try this. From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies Delete all cookies associated to that site. Click the Autofill tab. Click the Edit button next to: Other forms. Delete .fowa.org
Relaunch Safari. Navigate to that site and see if that helped. If not...
Quit Safari. Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the fowa.org keychain. Relaunch Safari. Navigate to the fowa.org site. Login with the user name and password as usual. Click Yes, when prompted.
