Problem accessing iPhoto after Upgrade to Yosemite

After upgrading to Yosemite on my MacBook , the result I get when trying to open iPhoto, which I use a lot , is : our photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.
What does "not readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade " ? Am I not going to access my photos ?

Thank you Niel but I just found out that my back up to my Passport for Mac is not the same as before and am having problems with it .
I go to settings, select time machine , turn it on and it starts  backing up .
Now it is asking me to choose between My passport for Mac and Other airport time capsule .
When I choose My passport for Mac , it gives me the  choice  : REMOVE DISK or Cancel .
If I choose the other one , it gives me the choice : SET UP or cancel .
I don't know what Other airport time capsule is and not sure if I have to set it up .

  • Can't access IPhoto after upgrade to Yosemite

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Yosemite and can't access iPhoto.  I've tried to install the upgrade, but it just sits there saying Installing, but nothing is working.  Tried the IPhoto Upgrader without success.  It says that it was not necessary for me to use the upgrader.  Help!  I need access to all of my pics!

Use Launchpad to cancel the download and try again.

  • Where is my iphoto after upgrading to yosemite??

Where is my IPHOTO after upgrading to yosemite ??

Ok so here's what you gonna do. (had this problem myself today, and after some fiddling figured out what to do.)
Find your old iPhoto with a cross through it, right-click it and select 'show package contents'. A folder will open. In that folder go to Contents>MacOS and there will be three little things there. Click on the one called 'iPhoto' and terminal will open. Leave terminal open and wait four seconds and VOILA! iPhoto opens. Leave terminal open until you are finished with iPhoto, because if you close terminal, iPhoto will close with it. THX! ENJOY! Hope it works.
    P.S.
You can close terminal once you close iPhoto. I also suggest backing up your iPhoto library while you can.

  • How to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

how to install iPhoto after upgrading to yosemite?

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested.  You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases.  It will be free.
What iPhoto version did you have prior to the Yosemite upgrade?  If it was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll also have to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 on your library before opening it with iPhoto 9.6.

  • Fix for iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

After upgrading to Yosemite I was unable to open iPhoto. I moved it to Trash (do NOT empty trash after moving it here!!!) - then go to App Store and download iPhoto. You'll want to make sure you then go to your Finder and click on the iPhoto download app in order to complete the download. When you open iPhoto it may say you need to upgrade - go ahead and do so then your photos will appear again with a new icon in your dock (remove the old one since it won't work now - the new icon will look different if you had an older version of iPhoto).
    Hope this helps!

  • Cannot update my iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

27" iMac, 2.93 GHz i7 processor, Yosemite 10.10.  Can no longer use iPhoto after upgrading.  I get a message that this update is not available for this Apple ID because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.  How do I fix this?

You must be logged in using the Apple ID used to purchase iPhoto or to set up your Mac - If you are logged in with the Apple ID that was used to purchase iPhoto or to set up the computer if it came preinstalled then quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library  and drag the iphoto application to the trash (do not empty the trash yet) and then go to the App store and install iPhoto
If this does not allow you to upgrade then you need to contact App store support  - link i son the right of the app store window

  • Unable to print from iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite?

Whenever I want to print from iPhoto, the application on the IMac becomes unresponsive and will not print. This all started after upgrading to Yosemite. My printer is updated, so now I have no idea how to make this work again. Any help would be great.

Rebuilt iPhoto, it is updated, but still is unresponsive. I get the spinning wheel that never goes away until I force close the app. The printer works on other applications.
OK and I see the issue is only with iPhoto. The only thing I can think of is resetting the printing system and then re-installing the printer(s). DO NOT use any of the printer's software for installing, simply follow the directions for adding a printer in Mac Basics: Printing in OS X - Apple Support.
To reset the printing system, open System Preferences - Printers & Scanners - locate the device in the window on the left and right click the offending printer and select Reset Printing System....
After you have reset the printing system and re-added the device then shutdown (not restart) the computer for about 30 seconds and restart and then test.

  • PDF problem in Preview after upgrading to Yosemite in MacBook Pro Late 2011

After upgrading to Yosemite , i have a problem viewing PDF's.
When opening high resolution PDF's  e.g. 2588 x 3368, it will display  distorted image or distorted characters.
and scrolling normal resolution PDF is very slow.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thank you very much!

    Sounds like Notifications app.
Maybe some other app. In SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItems tab: remove all entries with the minus sign underneath. This will not uninstall anything, you have to start those apps by hand now. Restart.
    Still there?
Yes: Restart again while holding the shift key, this will start the mac in SafeMode: only the necessary items are loaded to run.
    Still there?
Yes: Make an etrecheck list and post it here.
No: Restart, put the items in the LoginItems back, one by one, restart after each entry, and you will find the "culprit"
Please report accordingly. I will be back in 24 hours.

  • Anyone having problems with Safari after upgrading to Yosemite?

Safari takes over 2 minutes to open after upgrading to Yosemite and once open it is not responsive.  What is wrong?  I have redone the download and it still has the problem.

I found this workaround and it worked for me.
"According to Hontz, the issue seems to be affecting only iPhone 4S users. Hontz has provided the following workaround to fix the issue:
    1) Open the Phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number. 2) When the system answer press 1 for “Program or activate your phone” 3) Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating something like, “Settings updated.” 4) Open the Task Manager (double click the home button) and kill the Phone, Message, and Contacts Applications 5) Wait a few minutes (I waited 3 just to be extra safe) 6) Open the Message App to verify the fix.
If you are still broken, kill the Message App again, then reboot your phone.
Did iOS 5.0.1 also mess up your iPhone Contacts? Let us know if the workaround helped."

  • Not able to access mail after upgrade to yosemite

After upgrading to Yosemite.  I am unable to access my email via MACMAIL.  I have confirmed settings with ISP have unchecked SSL...still keep getting prompt for the password.  Yesterday I removed anything from the ISP in the keychain.   I am still unable to access email.   I continue to be prompted for the password which continues to reject.   I am able to access the same mail via webmail so the password is good.    I need help!!!

Last night it has been working for a few hours now it's down again since thee hours ago.
It's so annoying. Apple isn't able to operate a working e-mail system, doesn't provide any (free) support (not even to paying MobileMe customers ...) and doesn't provide any kind of information. Instead their status page is showing that everything is working just fine while many people on the forums, twitter etc. are complaining that mail isn't working.
I don't even know how many e-mails I should have received are simply lost ...

  • Cannot update iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

I have a Macbook Pro which I upgraded to Yosemite but now I cannot access iPhoto because it says I need to upgrade. The problem is that it won't let me upgrade because it says that it was either bought by a different user (I am the only user of this computer) or the item was refunded or cancelled. None of these are applicable. What can I do?

In that case you'll need to contact the App Store support personnel via this website:  http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/

  • Problem with Airplay after upgrading to Yosemite.

When I disconnect AIrplay Apple Tv(3), from my macbook pro (early 2011) can't connect again. The icon of Airplay remains blue and no actions  can be taken unless restart laptop. Then with the 1st conect/disconect same problem. This problem started after the last upgrade to Yosemite.

I have the same problem. I connect to Airplay with MacBook Pro 2012 running 10.10.1 to a second generation Apple TV. Sometimes, the performance is poor, audio does not come through, etc. Then when I try to disconnect, the menubar icon stays blue and indicates that I am connected. The display system preferences also shows that I am connected. I see multiple screens on my MacBook. Need to restart the MacBook to get out of airplay mode.

  • Cannot upgrade iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

It tells me I cannot open iPhoto until I upgrade iPhoto (to a compatible Yosemite version).to upgrade.
I try to upgrade. It prompts me to log in with my apple ID and password. I do. Then it tells me it cannot continue because --
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
This is the same Apple ID I have always used for years and years.
    What do I do???!

Perform the following, stopping with the first one which works:
    1. Open the Mac App Store's Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept it and the other iLife/iWork applications into your Apple ID, do so.
    2. Move them out of the Applications folder(they may need to be put into the Trash temporarily), and then see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If you're asked to buy them, see #3.
    3. Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
    4. Buy them.

  • Cannot open iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I am unable to open iPhoto.  When I click on it a message appears saying  'this version of iPhoto is incompatible with Yosemite', and directs me to the App store to upgrade.  I then get message saying that 'the product you are looking for is not available in the UK app store'.  I live in Singapore but prefer to use the UK App store.  Is it as simple as needing to change to a different country, if so which one? Or is there maybe a simpler way round this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
