  • N8 Maps problem after hard reset

There have been some cases where users have used the 3-fingered hard-reset method on their N8 devices and lost Ovi Maps in the process. If you find yourself in this situation, you can now resintall Maps via the software update feature in Ovi Suite. For other apps, you may need to refer to your nearest Nokia Care point.
Please note that it is not wise in general to use the 'three-fingered suicide' as a method of troubleshooting issues with your phone, this procedure is intended to attempt to revive a device that will not boot, in which circumstances you already know that everything is going to be lost before starting.
If this or any post answers your question, please remember to help others by pressing the 'Accept as solution' button.

The following is an official statement from Nokia concerning this matter:
    You
should not use the "three finger" reset (pressing volume down + camera key +
menu key and pressing power button) to hard reset the Nokia N8-00 device. Doing
this will delete some applications (Ovi Store, Ovi Maps, some preinstalled
    widgets) which cannot be restored.
If the device needs to be reset, try the following methods
instead of the "three finger" reset:
Press down the power button for 8
    seconds.
Restore the factory settings by selecting Menu
    > Settings > Phone > Phone management > Factory settings >
    Restore.
The "three finger" reset should be used only
as a last resort if the device cannot be booted up in any other way.
    If
successful, the device can be used after the reset but some of the applications
are missing. The device needs to be taken to a Nokia Care point for reflashing
to get the original applications back in the
    device.

  • Time capsule setting up problem after factory reset

What's the next step after factory reset to set up my time capsule again???
i did factory reset for 4-5 times and i cant use my time capsule to create a network, join an existing network or anything else.
i also tried normal reset but still nothing can be done.
There is always a message at the end " an unexpected error occured. Try again"

Plug the TC into the computer by ethernet..
Make sure the computer has no other network running and nothing else is plugged into the TC.. just TC Lan port to the computer ethernet.
Now press reset and open airport utility.
Generally you will have no issue once it is isolated. Do the setup and then you can disconnect and put it back in the network.
If it doesn't work, is the LED on the TC flashing amber or what??
Is the ethernet port connectivity LED on?

  • Problems after hard reset

OK, did not get my phone booting up, and I need my phone (especially the next days) so I did a "hard reset". Programs on E: drive was not uninstalled. But all on the C: drive. Maps installed OK. And everything seems to work except 3 things: 1) Nokia Store will not install (says "Cannot install!"). Tried installing the "notification support package" that fix store the time Nokia messed up (release an update to early). But that refuses to install as well. Anyone know why these will not install? What do they need that is not there? 2) "Social" install wrong. Didn't get one "Social" app i the list, but one for "Facebook" and one for "Twitter" and a bunch of widgets (that looked ok). But nothing is working, and I can't get to the settings (in the version I had before they were in the "Social" icon I do not have now....) 3) The Office apps are gone. Both "Quick Office" and the PDF-viewer. And that's a crisis!!! So do I have to wait till I get an answer from Nokia and have the reflash my phone again? Or is there anything I can to to fix these three problems (there's gotta be someone out there that knows what the problems are - you are so clever - can imaging no one has a solution :-) Well well... The phone is working again at least for now :-) Until next hang or till Nokia re-flashes it (hope they can re-flash it with Anna then, so I can get rid of this Belle trouble :-)

WoW !!! You seem to have had a terrible time ? Usually when I do a hard reset and then a software update it all goes really smoothly, and the update works fine, which is what happened with Belle, and the whole thing is working smoothly and is very customisable !! Maybe you should try to re-install from Nokia Suite ?
If I have helped at all, a click on the White Star is always appreciated :

  • Hotsync problems after hard reset

I have a Palm T/X it was turning itself on and running the battery down. I got on your fourm and found someone else was having the same
problem which the advise was to do a hard reset. I followed this advise and to a certain extent it worked, my only problem now is I can't
get the Palm to hotsync to my computer any more. Has anyone got any advise I have tried everything I can think of!!!
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Without really knowing the extent of the problems you are having it is hard to say.
You can visit http://kb.palm.com solution id 2630 for the Hotsync troubleshooter guide.
If that doesn't resolve your issue, I am going to need to know what problems you are having, what errors you are getting and what exactly occurs when you attempt a hotsync.

  • E72 problems after hard reset

    Hello...
I recently had to reset my phone because an app wouldn't install properly, and couldn't be uninstalled to allow another try.
I chose to do a hard reset (holding the keys on startup), and now I'm adding all my apps and games back on.  Half of the games fail to install (Ferrari GT, Ferrari GT2, Rally Championship), and the other half install OK (micro pool, Par 72 golf).
I tried installing QT 4.6.3, in case that was missing, but that didn't help (maybe I didn't install all needed components?)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Whilst applications should have a SmartInstaller to ensure that this doesn't happen, Viber is one such application that springs to mind requiring manual installation of QT_installer_4.6.3.sis (~11.5MB) with solution in my post here:

  • AirPort Extreme (Dome Style) problem after hard reset

Our AE quit responding so I did a hard reset and now the AE asks for password when trying to set up. Enter "public" as stated in instructions and receive "unknown error (-6753)" Now I can't change any settings on it and can't use it until I change settings. I have reset this unit many times and have never had a problem. I hope it hasn't cratered...the new ones don't work on dial-up...this one was perfect!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    try this:
.Take a note of the IP address that is displayed for the AEBS.
.On your PC, go to Control Panel and open Network Connections.
.Select the Wireless Network Connection and select the Internet Protocols (TCP/IP) properties.
.Select "Use the following address" and enter an address in the same subnet as your AEBS (offset the AEBS address by 1 - if your router is 10.0.1.1 enter 10.1.1.2 as your laptop's address).
    .Use the default subnet mask
.Enter the router's IP address as your "Default Gateway"
Close your your network settings windows and you should now be able to download the config of your router. Update your config to what you want it to be and reload the router.
Once it comes back to life, go through the above again and set your laptop to accept addresses via DHCP (select "Obtain IP address automatically").
You should be good to go now and be able to manage the AEBS normally.
    Good luck!

  • Font quality problems after Firefox reset

Since resetting Firefox fonts sometimes display poorly at default sizes, but if I zoom in several levels then zoom back out, the problem usually goes away. Solutions?
Update: I've found that just clicking on the Desktop also makes the problem go away.

Try to set the gfx.content.azure.enabled pref to false or if this didn't help disable Direct2D by setting the gfx.direct2d.disabled pref to true on the about:config page and leave hardware acceleration otherwise enabled.
You can also try to uninstall Windows update KB2670838 if you have this update.

  • Problem after I reset Safari ... revisited

    Hello,
This is Francie1939. I wanted to tell Barry and Starman and any others who tried to help me that today the color of my websites that I had visited NOW show in a different color, just as I wanted. What did I do to solve his problem? Not a dang thing! Why is it suddenly working? Who knows? I just am happy, will count my blessings, and move on. What a weird situation.
My original message was posted on July 7th.
    Francie

    Hi Francie
Glad you were able to get back on-line. Easier to respond to these things here in the forum than by e-mail as a running dialogue occurs in the thread that brings other people, such as Barry, into the process. More heads are better than one, that's for sure.
What to do next. Link activity on a web site (read vs not read) ought to be straight forward. When you reset Safari, you did the following:
    - clears the history file of all entries
    - empties the cache (think of the cache as a storage bin that helps speed up page loading from sites you've already visited during a session or more).
    - removes Cookies - (those little files some web sites use to keep track of your personal information, as well as browsing activity within a specific site
    - removes your Auto-fill information such as sites visited requiring name/address information, or passwords
So you can see, the reset is like wiping the slate almost clean (your bookmarks are preserved rather than erased). When you reset it, activity showing the links you had accessed disappeared too.
Safari Enhancer lets you alter the color of the read and unread links. The standard colors of "blue" for unread, and another color for "read" may not be to some people's liking. I thought by using Enhancer, you might revive the link colors. Didn't seem like this had its intended effect.
Have a look at your Safari Preferences in the Safari Menu, or press the Apple Key + the comma key (shortcut for opening preferences).
In the Auto-fill panel, make sure the "other forms" and "user names" are selected.
Also, restart the computer, then open Safari and try Google again. Let me know if it's showing the link activity.

  • Problem after CMOS reset K8T NEO FIS2R

    Hi,
After messing around with my memory timings, I could no longer boot my system, so I decided to reset my CMOS using the jumper.  After doing so, my system gets stuck at the SATA drives not detected BIOS not installed screen, and I can no longer access the BIOS.  I'm fairly sure that the BIOS not installed message is in reerence to the SATA controller and not the main BIOS itself.  I have tried reseting the BIOS a couple of more times with no different results.  My D-Bracket reads red LED in location 1, green LEDS in 2, 3 and 4.
    System:
    Athlon 64 3000+
    K8T NEO FIS2R
    Radeon 9700 pro
    Audigy 2 ZS
    400W PSU
    Any ideas would be welcome.
    Thanks

    Hi
Try removing the Ram sticks when resetting Bios, remeber to earth yourself first, also remove power cable, and leave for a couple of minse, to allow all chips to discharge, then replace mem sticks, the cmos jumper and the power cable. Try to get into bios at start to reset the timings you have changed.  If still having a prob, use Ctrl + Home as you boot, holding them down will initialise the bios. You will have to reset the bios settings.
Failing that you will need to use a recovery floppy.
    Good luck

  • Nokia N8 maps problems after hard reset.

I quote the sticky with the same title
    quote
There have been some cases where users have used the 3-fingered hard-reset method on their N8 devices and lost Ovi Maps in the process. It is not yet possible for N8 users to redownload the application from nokia.com/maps, a situation that will be fixed in the near future with a new release of the Maps application.
In the meantime, if you find yourself in this situation, please contact the Nokia Care line for your country, copies of the necessary SIS installation file have been distributed to contact centres to pass on to N8 users until the Maps web page is updated.
Please note that it is not wise in general to use the 'three-fingered suicide' as a method of troubleshooting issues with your phone, this procedure is intended to attempt to revive a device that will not boot, in which circumstances you already know that everything is going to be lost before starting.
    unquote
So I went to the local Nokia care line center nearby.  The technician told me in order to re install Ovi Maps on the phone I had to leave it for a few days under repair.   When I mentioned that it was purely software installation (and I only needed the SIS file) and not a technical repair and I could not leave my phone behind for several days the manager mentioned this was Nokia policy.  Obtaining the SIS file was not possible.
The manager himself mentioned "that is why I use an Iphone" and me as unpleased customer left this Nokia "we do not" care line center.
So be aware the if you want to have the ovi maps app reinstalled on the phone, it could well take a few days.
    Nomic.

Perhaps if you go over to Nokia Beta Labs: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-maps-306
and ask nicely in the correct thread, you might find that kee takes pity on you. However since release of .sis file to Nokia Care Points whom can't be bothered with N8 woes as they consider carrying out a "hard reset" an own goal, they (Nokia Beta Labs) might now expect resolution via this method.

  • Problem after I reset Safari

How do I tell my computer to show the websites I have opened in a different color? I just now reset my Safari and Googled a topic. I got the list of websites regarding my topic, then looked at one of the websites. When I hit the "back" button and returned to the page that had all the websites on my topic, the website that I finished looking at did not show in a different color. Thus I could tell not which website I had been to and which I had not opened yet. Before I reset my Safari, websites that I had opened showed in a different color. I hope I am making myself clear.

  • HP Deskjet 3510 Wireless Network Problems after Password Reset

The password on our wireless router was recently changed, and I have not been able to get my printer working since - this has actually happened before and I WISH I could remember how I fixed it last time, but this time it seems no matter what I try (deleting the printer and any related software, reboot, reinstalling software and hardware), nothing seems to help. I managed to print a wireless network test page and there it tells me that the "WPA security passphrase configured on your HP printer does not match your wireless router setting". Now that much I already know, and the solution makes sense as well, to re-enter the wireless network WPA security passphrase, except I am drawing a blank as to how exactly I am supposed to do that. Oh and I should also mention that unlike last time now the blue wireless control light and the white e-print light on the printer control panel are blinking constantly as soon as the printer is turned on and started up. I would really appreciate any help anyone could give me. Thank you!
