Problem Authentcation CiscoWorks LMS 4.1 with ACS 5.3

Dear
i have a problem authenticating cisco LMS user through ACS 5 whenever tries  to run a DCR Job  verification it fails to telnet , however it used to work with the pervious ACS 4 but after upgrade , it seems to be a problem , and when i tries to login with this specific user with third party terminal it works fine.
here is logg in the ACS monitor
Failure Reason > Authentication Failure Code Lookup
Failure Reason :
13031 TACACS+ authentication request missing user Password
Generated on:March 12, 2013 7:09:37 PM AST
Description
The TACACS+ authentication request did not provide a user Password
Resolution Steps
The  device is sending a TACACS+ authentication request that is missing  information needed by ACS. Check the device to verify that it is working  properly and has up-to-date software

I'm running the latest version of both, and it's running fine for me.  You may have to change your TacacsPromts.ini file to include the right prompts.  I think it's:
[TELNET]
USERNAME_PROMPT=
PASSWORD_PROMPT=
You'll have to put in your own prompts, though.   Whatever your prompts are, is what goes afterward.
If my prompt is Myspecialprompt: and pass is Myspecialpassword:, I'd use
[TELNET]
USERNAME_PROMPT=Myspecialprompt:
PASSWORD_PROMPT=Myspecialpassword:
If you have more devices with different prompts, just use a comma after the colon.  Btw, you don't need the credentials in there, just the custom prompts.

  • Problems performing CiscoWorks LMS 3.1

    Hello,
I had previous problems running Daemon Manager, I fixed up that problem already but now the problem is that whenever i want to configure anything within any module, then it shows errors about communication with DCR server or other engines and in some cases it says i have to run the license server.
I looked over the license server log and shows an error "Unable to launch JVM".
I also revised my services and all of them appear as started.
    Any suugestions???

I configured the services as you requested and after that restarted the server tried to open the LMS portal but it shows "the page cannot be dispalyed" so revised services window page and noticed that the following services are down:
    CiscoWorks ANI database engine
    CiscoWorks RME NG database engine
    CiscoWorks Web Server
    CWAWFEngine database engine
    CWCS Cmf database engine
    DFM dfmEpm database engine
    DFM dfmInv database engine
    DFM dfmFh database engine
    OpxXMLRuntime
only CiscoWorks Tomcat Servlet engine appears as started...
aren't services supposed to start "automatically" eventhough they're set up as manual???

Thanks Reidar.... hmm very strange. I really wish an expert would respond to this thread as it will help a lot of people who might be planning to deploy these versions and they can help put this matter to rest once and for all. Not sure why LMS 3.2 will not support ACS 5.1 and it might help to know when it will (updates etc). Kindly let me know if you get any further information. My deployment is so large that setting a local username and password on all the devices is not an option unfortunately .......

  • CiscoWorks LMS cannot add PIX/ASA in software repository

    Hi,
I can see that LMS in RME Software Management cannot add PIX/ASA software saying not supported.
    Any configuration issues.
I have got another problem. CiscoWorks LMS need to download IOS on cisco router, the process fails in RME Software Mgt. But the LMS is nated when it goes through the router.
i guess the script does not know the natted ip when running it on the router. If there is a way that I can specify the natted IP of the LMS. Fortunately, it is a nated static IP.
    Thanks,
    Ashley

    Hi Joseph,
It is working fine. My mistake, issue with TFTP source interface.
However, I had got a small issue.
I have got a cisco router which RME accesses with ip natted ip, which you have indicated and It is working fine with RME. RME can manage the router perfectly.
However, DFM is leaving this router in questioned mode. So, the SNMP Credentials must be ok since it is good with RME.
Do I have to specify the Natted DFM ip as well for this router? Or something else must be done.

  • Ciscoworks LMS 4.0 – Email Notifications Issue

We currently use Ciscoworks LMS 4.0 with over 1000 devices in the database. I'm a LMS novice. And have been assigned the task of minimising the amount of email notification’s we receive, as if one device goes Operationally Down all devices off that switch also send alerts to the email notification group, which in turn overwhelms the mailbox.
The ports are configured not to log or send snmp traps.
    no logging event link-status
    no snmp trap link-status
So any advice on how we can limit these alerts being generated would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Nessie,
Go to Monitor > Fault Settings > Setup > Fault Device Details
select the device and click on view  then Click on the hyperlink or the device name\ip address
that will bring a new window from there click on Interface and chanaged the Managed state from ture to FLASE for those interfaces for which you do not want ALERTS.
    Thanks-
    Afroz

  • CISCOWORKS LMS and CISCOSECURE ACS Authenticate any user with HD role

    Hi:
We are using CiscoSecure for authentication and authorization for differente apps.
Specifically, any user already in the ACS database is authenticated to log in CiscoWorks LMS, with HD role (this happens although none of the CiscoWorks apps have been checked for this group).
    Why is this happening?
We don´t want that any user (although they are only permitted the HD role) could login.
    Thanks a lot
    Julio

Follow the ACS integration guide to ensure the group you don't want to have access to LMS have the roles set to "NONE" instead of the default HD roles.

  • Ciscoworks 3.2 login issue with ACS

    Hi All,
I am facing an issue with login into Ciscoworks portal from the LMS server, which is integrated with ACS tool.
Now I am unable to login to the portal with the username and password, which is already configured in the ACS server.
I have ended up with reinstalling the ciscoworks software and restored the backup, still problem persists. Please let me know how to fix it.
If I again reinstall it, how would I restore the backup - since back restoration again gives the login issue.
If Im using only the dcrcli exported devices list after the reinstallation, all the devices gets stuck in DFM question status, hence I restored the proper backup. Now I am stuckup. please help.

You need to sort out your DNS get the lookup and reverse lookup working.
Say your device is a box with
    Fa 0/0 10.10.1.1
    Lo 0    172.32.1.1
If you get you dns to resolve the address of port Fa 0/0  (10.10.1.1)  to the DNS "name adevice.yournetwork.com".
Next you get your DNS to resolve the name "adevice.yournetwork.com" to 172.32.1.1 with happens to be to Lo0 interface of the device
Then you can get LMS to use the address you want as it is configured in DNS
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.0 Time Zone Problem

    Hi,
CiscoWorks LMS 4.0 timezone is VET. I know that LMS time is syncronized with system time. Hovewer, system time is correct but LMS's time is wrong.
-I restarted LMS CW Deamon Manager
    -I re-installed LMS

  • LMS PRIME 4.2 integrating with ACS 4.2

    Hello,
    i would like to integrate new lms prime 4.2 with acs.4.2 . .. !!
is there document or user guide for this version of lms?
    Thanks in advance.
    Marwan

IN LMS 4.2 there is nothing which is known as Integration (like LMS 3.x), since it added feature RBAC.
Now ACS can just be used as PAM to have ciscoworks authenticated for Tacacs+ or Radius. After the auth is done, you should have a authorization set in LMS locally for user, else it will be given a default HELP DESK access.
    For more details check :
Authentication Using Login Modules - Overview
    -Thanks

  • LMS 3.1 Slow after integrating with ACS

Dear All, have any one faced issue of slowness after integrating LMS3.1 with ACS4.2. I dont know how can I resolve this issue. Is there any patch to resolve it...
Any kind of help will be very helpful.

I'm using LMS 3.2 into ACS 4.0 and it actually seemed a bit faster after ACS integration. Nothing I measured but subjectively it seems faster. Both my servers are on Windows and the ACS is across the WAN from my CiscoWorks.
How do your devices fare with their ACS? You can debug tacacs at the router/switch level as one tool. I'm sure one of the cisco guys on here will point you to one of the many logs that LMS generates, possibly with debugging activated, to dig deeper there also.

  • CiscoWorks LMS problem

We are running CISCOWORKS LMS in our Data Network,
But right now getting below problem,
    1.    Unable to integrate Cisco-3925 integrated service router
    2.    Unable to integrate Cisco-2811 integrated service router
    3.    LMS cannot sense link status
    4.    LMS cannot auto discover link
Attached Image for your kind reference.Appreciate your concern about this issue.

    Hi Hafiz,
Kindly let me know how you are adding device to CiscoWorks LMS 2.6.
As a best practise, when you will add new device to CiscoWorks, you should not select the device type while adding the device to CiscoWorks. Let the ciscoworks collect the inventorty on device and identify it automatically.
To start with make sure you have the lastet MDF device packages install for Common Services and then install all device pachages for other components like RME, CiscoView etc but make sure to have lastest MDF install first.
    Thanks

  • Cisco Works LMS 3.1 Integration with ACS v5.2

    Hello Experts,
our customer has a working integration with the Cisco Works LMS 3.1 and an ACS v3.3 as it is described in this document:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/netmgtsw/ps6504/ps6528/ps2425/prod_white_paper0900aecd80613f62.html
Now we are changing the old ACS Servers to the new ACS v5.2 platform. Is it possible to integrate the LMS to the new ACS Server? We want to use a granular user access restriction for SuperAdmins, Hotline Users an so on...
    Thanks,
    Florian

    Hi Florian,
actually the ACS 5.2 is not supported in CS 3.2
here is a list of the supported ACS servers under LMS 3.1

  • Ciscoworks LMS 2.2 layer 2 trace problem

i have a 3745 (seed device) connected to a 2611xm via a 2950 switch but the ani server cannot discover the 2611xm or even properly recognize the 2950 switch. i have configured the required snmp parameters and cdp is enabled on all devices. i can also ping the 2950 and 2611xm from the ciscoworks server.
do i need special configs on the 2950 for the ani server to discover the 2611xm router?

To troubleshoot, go into the respective devices and execute "show cdp neighbors" commands.
If the devices all see each other as neighbors, the problem is in CW's interaction with the devices. If that is the case, make sure each device's credentials are allowing CW to correctly query it.
If not, then fix the cdp interaction on the devices and rediscover and then recheck CW's network view.
Hope this helps. Please rate helpful posts.

  • Serial Numbers with CiscoWorks LMS 3.2

    Hi all,
Is there a way to find the Serial Numbers of all your Cisco devices using CiscoWorks LMS 3.2?
    Thanks in advance,
    Carles

You can run a hardware report under RME > Reports > Report Generator > Inventory > Hardware Report.  However, some devices are not aware of their serial number electronically.  In these cases, you can add the serial number using the "snmp-server chassis id" command so that RME can pick it up.  You can check this link with details on how the serial number is obtained via SNMP.
