Problem binding applet parameters

Hi,
I need to pass dynamically generated parameters to applet in ADF Faces page. I need something like this: <applet><param name="n1" value="#{...}"/>. But parameter value doesn't support EL. How can I walk arround this?
Thanks,

I have the same problem. In the contrived example below my applet will only work if the EL statement #{row.email} actually gets resolved to the database value, but at the moment the EL text is what is ending up in the applet parameter value. Any further assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.
<af:column headerText="#{bindings.DepartmentsdepartmentCollection.labels.email}"
sortable="false" sortProperty="email"
binding="#{backing_deptEmp.column2}" id="column2">
<af:outputText value="#{row.email}"
binding="#{backing_deptEmp.outputText2}"
id="outputText2"/>
<f:verbatim>
<jsp:plugin type="applet" code="com.atrium.agis.AGISApplet" archive="ATRIUMgis.jar"
height="500" width="750">
<jsp:params>
<jsp:param name="method:init" value="'#{row.email}','basemap','http://192.168.10.8/mapviewer/omserver',524966,322570, 750, 400, 81989, 'devplan_jdbc_datasource', 1250,'http://atriumdev/mapviewer/watermark.gif'" />
</jsp:params>
<jsp:fallback> This browser does not support Applets. </jsp:fallback>
</jsp:plugin>
</f:verbatim>

  • Problem while Binding multiple Parameters to View Object[Solved]

    Hello,
    I am facing problem while binding multiple parameters with different data types in View Object query. For example suppose I have following query in my view object.
    SELECT Header.ADDED_BY
    Header.BATCH_ID,
    FROM BATCH_HEADER Header
    WHERE :1='deptAdmin' and Header.BATCH_ID
    in
    select batch_id from batch_header_dept_mapping where dept_id in(SELECT * FROM TABLE(CAST(:0 AS TABLE_OF_VARCHAR)))
    I am able to pass the Bind variables of Array type for : 0 , using Steve's ArrayOfStringDomain example. (ArrayOfStringDomain) .
    But after passing value to second bind parameter ie.. :1 .
    I am getting the error as follows.
    ## Detail 0 ##
    java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CHAR.
    I tried to set
    setWhereClauseParam(1,11); // 11 is Number
    setWhereClauseParam(0,arr); // arr is arr = new Array(descriptor,conn,deptid); for in parameter.
    But of no use , Please let me know if any thing missing form me or have any another solutions. Also please provide me any example if have.
    Thank you,
    Sandeep

    hi.
    but when using non-Oracle named parameter binding styles as you've done (ie. , :1), regardless of what number you give each bind variable, they are sequenced 0, 1, 2 etc. As such your bind variable :1 is the 0th parameter, and your bind variable  is the 1st parameter.Your statment is correct.
    :1 i used was actually on 0th position and :0 was on 1 position. Like you said in sequence 0,1,2 etc. Now i get the answer and i corrected My mistake by assigning right values to right binding variable. and problem just solve.
    Thanks Chris.

  • Bind on parameters performance problem

    For some reason when I select bind on parameters in toplink I get a major performance hit for certain queries. I've enabled the toplink performance profiler to log the sql queries.
    I wrote a little Java class that executes these queries using a statement and using a preparedstatement. The prepared statement is fast, so I'm thinking something in toplink is slowing it down. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Iam quessing it could be a combination of 3 things.
    1st the Airport Extreme Base should be the Master and the Express should be the Remote.
    2nd the speed of the XP machine is 1.2Ghz the Mac is 800Mhz and slower.
    in prosessing speed.
    3rd The iMac has an Airport Card that is 802.11b which is slower in transfer rate than the 801.11g of the XP.

  • Reading Applet Parameters

    Hello,
    this may appear to be stupid question but I need a solution anyway. My problem consists of two parts:
    Part1:
    Applet-Parameters which are set in the HTML-Applet Tag in
    <param name="name" value="value"> are read from within the applet by using getParameter("name"). The documentation says that a String is returned.
    Part2:
    When I want to set the text of a JTextArea I use the setText("someText") method. If I set the text by setText("Test\nTest") the Text is set with two lines each containing one "Test" (this is what the \n is for) like this:
    Test
    Test
    Now if I do the same by using setText(getParameter("name")) and the "name" parameter's value is "Test\nTest" my Text will exactly appear as
    "Test\nTest"
    in the Textarea.
    Does anyone know of this problem?

    Yeah this is a possiblity I have thought of as well. But this appears to me to be a Java bug, because a String is a String, right? And if I do a setText("someString") it should always behave the same way, no matter where the string comes from, whether read from an applet-parameter or whatever. It's a bit strange.
    Thanks for your help
    Best regards

  • Rewriting java applet parameters

    I am attempting to get a java applet to work through the portal. Of
    course it
    does not work "out of the box" The applet is a menuing applet and it
    gets is
    text for the menu options (and the associated links) from the applet
    parameters. I have read the documentation for this and, in typical Portal
    Server documentation fashion, it has been less than helpful.
    Here are the details: The asp page that loads the applet is loaded from
    /menu/menu.asp Here is the HTML that loads applet and sets some of the
    parameters:
    <td><APPLET name='1' code='imgMenu.class'
    codebase='class/'height='17' width='124' id=Applet1>
    <param name='xloc' value='0'>
    <param name='yloc' value='17'>
    <param name='upimage' value='/menu/images/bbusinessunit.gif'>
    <param name='placement' value='right'>
    <param name="item1" value="0|ACT - Alaska Consolidated Team">
    <param name="item2" value="1|ACT Home">
    <param name="URL2" value="http://alaska.somewhere.com/act|_top">
    <param name="item3" value="1|ACT Badami">
    <param name="URL3" value="http://alaska.somewhere.com/cns_badami|_top">
    <param name="item4" value="1|ACT Endicott">
    I configured the rewriter like this:
    /menu/menu.asp imgMenu.class upimage
    /menu/menu.asp imgMenu.class URL*
    so that the upimage parameter would be rewritten as well ad the URL*
    parameters (there are URL1 all the way to URL53). This does not work.
    Has anyone gotten the Java applet paremeters rewriting working? If so,
    what I am I missing?

    sig and J.C. Westin-
    I used the Adobe Flash UNinstaller, and then installed Adobe Flash Player v10.0.12.10. No improvement/it did not correct the problem. Power E*Trade Pro (a Java Applet) still won't start properly (since Apple Software Update installed Java Release 7).
    I even did all the Repair Permissions steps before and after Flash UNinstal/reinstall (suggested by J.C. Westin; even though they did seem somewhat excessive; Note: all permissions were set properly before installing; Permissions DID need repair AFTER installing Flash; guess that Adobe doesn't get the permissions right in it's own installer!).
    To be honest, I did not really place much hope in solving the problem via an update to a BETA version of Flash. The problem occurred when I updated Java (per Apple's Software Update), not when doing anything with Flash. More to the point, I don't believe the Java applet that's having problems now uses Flash at all. Placing hope in a Flash BETA seemed to me like being told to replace my brake fluid after complaining the engine wasn't running.
    I'm (still) looking for a (non-draconian) way of reverting back to Java Release 6. Someone has to have some steps for trashing specific files/binaries to Remove Java Release 7, then installing the full Java Release 6 anew. Please? Anyone? Trashing the entire OS then performing a clean install is a huge amount of work. I just need to trash Java Release 7.
    Thanks in advance to anyone who can help here.

  • Caching problem in Applets - Java Control Panel

    I have a problem of applets being cached in Java Control Panel. Is there a way in Java to stop caching applets programatically in the Java Control Panel.
    There is one way to stop caching files by unchecking "Keep Temporary Files on my Computer" under Java Control Panel --> General --> Settings page.
    But I want to do this programatically using some Java programming/Java Scripting/some parameter in applet tag.
    Some solutions like setting cache_option = No, cache_archive= jar file name in PARAM tag in applet and classloader_cache="false" have been already tried. But noting is seeming to be working out.
    Can somebody please provide a solution.

  • How to bind korean parameters in XSQL????

    Hi,
    I am binding english parameters in XSQL very well.

    Please help me in this regard.
    How to bind name in korean in XSQL servlet..
    Regards,

    Do you have nlscharset_12.jar in your classpath?
    what web server are you using XSQL with?
    Have you tried using real bind variables like this:
    <xsql:query bind-params="name">
    select * from emp where ename = ?
    </xsql:query>
    Does a query like:
    <xsql:query bind-params="name">
    select * from emp
    </xsql:query>
    return the korean data to the browser correctly?

  • Problem calling applet method using IE

    I've searched through the forum and can't seem to find anything that can help me fix this. I'm trying to call an applet's method using Javascript. This is working fine under Netscape, but not IE. • Problem downloading applet in W2K with SP4.

    Hi,
    We are using a Security Applet in our web application for validation purposes. We were using W2K Professional / W2K Server with SP3 and Sun JRE 1.3.x. The application was working as expected.
    We are now testing with W2K Server with SP4 (to upgrade to SP4). The current testing environment is W2K Server with SP4 and Sun JRE1.3.x. Now with the setup, we are facing a problem in downloading the applet (Security Applet). The downloading applet fails and the subsequent loading as well.
    Please advice. Does it requires any particular settings to be done at Client?
    The specs are
    Windows 2000 Server, SP4
    IE 6 SP1
    Sun Jre 1.3.x
    Problem:Downloading applet fails.
    PS: When we test with SP3, we can see the applet downloaded (CAB File), with SP4 it was not found.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Prakash

    Does the w2k sp4 server host your pages and applet?
    If yes then why install the SUN JRE 1.3 on the server, doesn't the client need this?
    Is the cab format supported by SUN jre or is it meant for msjvm and if so why is the client trying to open
    the cab with sun jre?
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/upgrade-guide/article-02.html
    What's on the server doesn't have anything to do with the applet. The server is
    just serving it. Forcing the client/consumer of the html page with the applet is trying to open an applet
    with sun jre while the applet is ment for msjvm causes the error.
    The client can fix this by opening IE and check under tools -> internet options -> advanced -> UNCHECK
    the use sun jre ... for <applet tag. For the XP machine you might have a problem. Some of the don't have
    the msjvm at all so there is nothing to run the <applet, I tried to download it at microsoft but was unable
    to find it.

  • Severe Problem in Applets

    I hav problem in Applets by use of threads.The prb. is that i am supposed to create three threads in applets.Thread one will read a file and extract a character array of size 10 from it and Thread 2 will display those characters in Textarea of Applets and after 10 seconds Thread3 will delete those chracters from textarea and next character set of Array of size 10 from Thread one will be assigned to Thread2 and process should go on untill it reads all character from file.Please sort this problem with source code.All are warmly welcome.
    Anuj.

    Thread one will read a file Since applets cannot read from the filesystem you have to use the URL object to read the file and place the
    file in the same location as your applet:
              try {
                   url = new URL(this.getCodeBase(), "yourfile.txt");
                   URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
                   InputStream in = conn.getInputStream();
                   ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                   byte[] buf = new byte[1024];
                   int len;
                   while ((len = in.read(buf)) > 0) {
                        bos.write(buf, 0, len);
                   byte[] data = bos.toByteArray();
    //               String dataString = new String(data,"Shift_JIS"); // depending on your file encoding
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace(System.out);

  • Need to bind 2 parameters on my onLovInit

    Hi again!
    Now I need to bind 2 parameters on my onLovInit.
    I call this function:
    function setBinding(params)
    //this works great
    params["bindParam"]=document.getElementById('VB_Adm110ProgrammesEleves1LKP_ETA_ID_NON').value;
    //Now how can I bind another parameter, something like:
    //params["bindParam2"]=document.getElementById('VB_Adm110ProgrammesEleves1LKP_SEE_ID_NON').value;
    return true;
    }And in my struts, I have something like:
    <set-property property="whereClause"
    value="TheTable.TheColumn=:1/>
    <set-property property="iterBinding"    value="ProGrillesCheminementsLov1LookupIterator"/>
    <set-property property="bindParams"               value="ProGrillesCheminementsLov1LookupIterator=${param.bindParam}"/>Here, how can I bind the second parameters?
    I hope you can understand! :)
    Thanks for any help!
    Martin

    Martin,
    You are well on your way!
    In onLovInit you have the right code, just uncomment the second line:
    params["bindParam2"]=document.getElementById('VB_Adm110ProgrammesEleves1LKP_SEE_ID_NON').value;
    In the struts-config, you only need to set the bindParams property (which by the way you can generate using the JAG). You can use a comma-delimited list of bind params:
    <set-property property="bindParams" value="ProGrillesCheminementsLov1LookupIterator=${param.bindParam},${param.bindParam2}"/>
    Now, in your View Object where clause definition, you must already include the where clause with bind params, something like :
    column1 = :1 and columns2 = :2

  • Problem in Applet while communicating with Javascript

    Hi,
    I’m facing a problem with applet. Applet calls JavaScript methods and vice versa. Applet works fine with JRE 5 to JRE 6 up to build no 1.6.0._7 but it fails with build no 1.6.0_10.
    The problem description is given below:
    After embedding applet in my HTML page using <OBJECT> tag, I’ve to check either any problem during applet’s execution, I want to get the error reason by calling my defined method getErrorReason() in applet that returns the error reason, I call the getErrorReason() against the applet’s object in JavaScript immediately after embed applet code in my HTML page, a JavaScript errors occurs and my applet fails to perform its execution.
    JavaScript error: Object does not support this property.
    The error points to the HTML page area where I’m calling getErrorReason() against applet object.
    The above JavaScript error occurs after the successful completion of Applet’s init(). I’m facing this problem only in JRE 6 build 1.6.0_10-b33.
    Please suggest me any solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Israr Ahmed

    Hi Bharath,
    Even i got similar error and i tried deleting the below(Attaching the stack trace is always better way.)
    1) delete the folder ‘workspace’ or rename(including all files and subfolders) in the path D:\Documents and Settings\lzcr8r\Documents\SAP\workspace
    2) delete all .dtr/.dtc/.metadata directories in your personal folder (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\lzcr8r).
    Restart the IDE once you are done with the above steps.
    Second part to increase the virtual mem
    1) RtClick on the Shortcut of NWDS -->Properties and in the Target put the below
    "C:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\SapIde.exe" -vmargs -Xms512m -Xmx1536m  "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_08\bin\javaw.exe"
    2) You can also try  Creating a bat file with the complete path of your IDE and start your ide from the bat
       content in the bat eg: "C:\Program Files\netbeans-4.1\bin\netbeans.exe" -vmargs -Xms512m -Xmx1536m
    Here -Xms512m is the min JVM size and -Xmx1024m is the max JVM size.
    You can place this batch file anywhere and double click the batch file.
    It will automatically start your IDE
    3) if you are using Tomcat you can try creating an env variable and assign Value
    Variable Name:  CATALINA_OPTS
    Variable Value:  -server -Xmx800m
    please award points if usefull.

    I have the same problem. In the contrived example below my applet will only work if the EL statement #{row.email} actually gets resolved to the database value, but at the moment the EL text is what is ending up in the applet parameter value. Any further assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.
    <af:column headerText="#{bindings.DepartmentsdepartmentCollection.labels.email}"
    sortable="false" sortProperty="email"
    binding="#{backing_deptEmp.column2}" id="column2">
    <af:outputText value="#{row.email}"
    binding="#{backing_deptEmp.outputText2}"
    id="outputText2"/>
    <f:verbatim>
    <jsp:plugin type="applet" code="com.atrium.agis.AGISApplet" archive="ATRIUMgis.jar"
    height="500" width="750">

  • Problems with Array-Parameters when using Document-Binding

    Hi,
    I use the following environment:
    JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0
    WLS 10.3.3.0
    I created a small EJB (2.1), containing a simple method, which is using arrays as parameters:
    public String doTestArray(String[] aStringArray, int[] aIntArray)
    throws RemoteException;
    I exposed this EJB as a Webservice using JDev's Webservice wizard. I choosed Document/Wrapped-Binding. WSDL and mapping file are being generated. Made an EAR-Deployment-Profile and deployed the application to Integrated-WLS.
    I tried to test the Webservice with the WLS integrated test client, which is generating the following request:
    <doTestArrayElement xmlns="http://model/types/">
    <!--Zero or more repetitions:-->
    <arrayOfString_1>string</arrayOfString_1>
    <!--Zero or more repetitions:-->
    <arrayOfint_2>3</arrayOfint_2>
    </doTestArrayElement>
    Unfortunately, the invokation fails. WLS returns
    weblogic.wsee.codec.CodecException: Failed to decode message
    at weblogic.wsee.codec.soap11.SoapCodec.decode(SoapCodec.java:188)
    at weblogic.wsee.ws.dispatch.server.CodecHandler.decode(CodecHandler.java:139)
    That only happens in methods, which use array-parameters. Simple parameters are no problem.
    However, when I use RPC/Encoded as Webservice-Binding, everything seems to be fine.
    Does WLS have problems in general using array-parameters and Document-Binding?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Stefan
