Problem creating connection to DB

I get the following error : "Test failed: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection"
Database version: 12g
Application Name:     jdeveloper 12
Description :
while creating connection in jdeveloper with the database 12g , under the schema name 'HR' , to whome i m connecting successfully while using 'sqlplus' , i encountered the above stated error.
From : Oracle User

Thanks for that. That actually worked (well in a roundabout
sort of way). I'll explain: It turns out that the initial
connection string that I was using also works as well!! This was:
Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=[MACHIINE NAME];Initial
Catalog=[ANY EXISTING DB NAME];Uid=[ENTERPRISE MANAGER
LOGIN];Pwd=[ENTERPRISE MANAGER LOGIN PWD];
HOWEVER after doing a bit of further investigation, I
discovered that Dreamweaver didn't like my PASSWORD!! I'm reluctant
to say this is a bug before someone else can verify this for me.
Basically, Dreamweaver doesn't like the substring "$$" in the
password!! A single "$" is fine, but not "$$" !!! I've not tested
it with other (sub)strings so I'm not sure how "widespread" this
problem might be. I admit it would be a rather obscure bug to
uncover but, pretty significant I believe.
The fact that passwords of this nature work fine in SQL
Server/ Enterprise Manager would lead me to conclude that this is
not a problem with SQL Server 2000.
If you could give that a quick check and let us know that'd
be really good.
Thanks...

• Problem creating connection pool to mysql database

Please, do not ignore this message and help me, if you have any Idea
I have Sun Java System Application Server 8.1 installed on my computer, I installed also MySQL Connector/J to access MySql Databases through JDBC
But now when I try to create new connection pool, an error comes:
Following parameter were used:
Name: MYSQL1
Resource Type: javax.sql.XADataSource
Database Vendor: mysql
Datasource Classname: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
serverName 192.168.0.152
port 3306
networkProtocol
user testuser
password ***
databaseName test
datasourceName
After saving and then klicking on Ping button, following error comes: "An error has occurred.
Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
I checked the logs of MySql, there was no attempt to access given Database or MYSQL-server at all
What Am I doing wrong? How can I create MySql connection under Sun Java System Application Server 8.1?
Any help will be appreciated

The driver is in right place
Originally I placed him in wrong directory and got an error, indicationg, that Driver class is not found, but then I corrected it, The problem is in connection to database - it doesn't work.
I tired to load the same driver into Netbeans and could easyli create a connection to database, but I get it not working ander Sun Application server

Hi. there's no line continuation stuff after the driver line.
Try:
weblogic.jdbc.connectionPool.demoPool=\
url=jdbc:sybase:Tds:10.20.30.50:4100/dbsrvr,\
driver=com.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver,\

props=user=dbdev;password=dbdev,\

and make sure there's no whitespace in the properties file after any of
the '\'s in these lines.

• Problem with EJB and JMS - Failed to obtain/create connection

hello ejb and jms programmers,
My problem is my topic MDB keep on retrieving the same message when there is a database connection failure. Maybe somebody could help me how to prevent to retrieve the same data?
Given:
- I purposedly turn off the pointbase database because im testing my error handling.
- Im using SJSAS 8 as my application server.
- My message Driven Bean of topic type.
- Im using CMP for my entity bean
Here is the scenario of whats happening - step by step:
1. A separate application publishes a message to JMS queue server
2. My MDB retrieves this message and do some processing then inserts a record (transaction history) in my database
3. But my db is turned off or down
4. My MDB sends a successful processing reply to the JMS queue server
5. Then i noticed that my server.log keeps on growing so when i opened it, the record was not inserted and printed the stacktrace below "RAR5117 : Failed to obtain/create connection. Reason : javax.transaction.SystemException" (complete stacktrace below)
6. I understand the cause of the stacktrace is because the DB is turned off. But what i dont understand is that my MDB keeps on reading the same message. Since my MDB is of topic type, isnt a topic MDB supposedly reads a message only once???
So my questions are:
1. how do i handle insert database error?
2. how can i stop my MDB from processing the same message?
3. any better suggestions?
Thank you in advance :)

Hi annie,
Wherever you are handling database transactions,
you'd not be able to create a Connection if database
is closed (I think you mentioned turning off the
database) then at this condition, you should
certainly throw a System level exception and stop all
processing with some meaningful flow to indicate a
failure (like display message on UI). Even
network problems are handled by exceptions... so I
don't see a reason why you didn't wrap it in the
first place.
Anyway, try handling specific exceptions rather than
the general Exception... this will give you a better
idea of what to do in case of an exception.Yes i know this. I am practicing this in my non-j2ee server applications. But the j2ee app im making, i just pass the db url in the descriptor and the app server automatically creates the connection for my app. So where would i put exception handling?
2. how can i stop my MDB from processing the same
message?Guaranteed delivery is not supposed to stop
processing. It will continue to process the message
after certain intervals till the message is
delivered. You shouldn't deliver it at all, if you
are able to detect that the database is off
The problem here is that my MDB automatically retrieves the message from the JMS queue server. Im not the one retrieving the messages manually.
My assumed behavior of topic MDB is once the a certain MDB retrieves a message it will not retrieve the same message anymore.
thank you in advance.

• Problem with creating Connection pool and JNDI, driver is not detected

Hi,
I have an issue with creating Connection Pool and JNDI.
I'm using:
- JDK 1.6
- OS: Linux(ubuntu 8.10)
- Netbeans IDE 6.5.1
- Java EE 5.0
- Apache Tomcat 6.0.18 Its lib directory contains all necessary jar files for Oracle database driver
- Oracle 11g Enterprise
My problem is that the Oracle database driver is not detected when I want to create a pool (it works pretty well and is detected without any problem when I create ordinary connection by DriverManager)
Therefore after running:
InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
Context context = (Context)ic.lookup("java:comp/env");
DataSource dataSource = (DataSource)context.lookup("jdbc/oracle11g");
Connection connection = dataSource.getConnection();and right after dataSource.getConnection() I have the following exception:

As many suggest, I also tried to put context directly in the server.xml (instead of my application context) and referencing it by <ResourceLink /> inside my application context but it didn't work and instead it gave me the following message:
org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create JDBC driver of class ' ' for connect URL 'null'
Has anyone succeeded in creating a connection pool with JNDI by using Tomcat 6 or higher ? If yes, could kindly explain about the applied method.
Regards,

Hello again,
Finally I managed to run my application also with Tomcat 6.0.18. There was only two lines that had to be modified
in the context.xml file (the context of my application project and not server's)
Instead of writing
<Context antiJARLocking="true" path="/WebApplication2">
type="javax.sql.DataSource"
factory="org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory"
</Context>we had to write:
<Context antiJARLocking="true" path="/WebApplication2">
type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
factory="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory"
</Context>- No modification was needed to be done at server level (niether server.xml nor server context.xml)
- I just added the ojdbc6.jar in $CATALINA_HOME/lib (I didn't even need to add it in WEB-INF/lib of my project)
- The servlet used to do the test was the same that I presented in my precedent post.
For those who have encountered my problem and are interested in the format of the web.xml and context.xml

• Problem: Socket connection is not creating in machine, through utility program (MFC Dll), on ListDisplay service port - 3334 (on separate machine), while we are able to telnet on same ListDisplay service port - 3334 from same issue machine on same time

Problem: Socket
connection is not creating in machine, through utility program (MFC Dll), on ListDisplay service port - 3334 (on separate machine), while we are able to telnet on same ListDisplay service port - 3334 from same issue machine on same time
Environment: -
OS:
Windows XP SP2/7
Code:
VC 6.0
Dll: MFC
Problem Description: -
We have written a utility program which create socket (Using windows standard method [MFC]), and then make connection with another service (List Display) running
on port 3334 in different machine and retrieve the required list data. This program was working fine in almost all the machines.
But, we have received a severe intermittent issue on two machines. Client is facing issue in displaying the list data from port 3334.
Attempt: -
First we tried to debug code, and we come to know that socket is not creating in utility program. So we tried to telnet on ListDisplay service port 3334 and we were surprised that we were able to telnet, then we opened some more
telnet window on same port 3334 around (6 to 8) window, and each cmd connected properly. But we were not able to create socket from utility program.
Problem is severe because issue is intermittent.
We have tried all the way, but we are not able to figure it out, that what can be the exact problem and what are the conditions, when utility program will not
connect with ListDisplay service on port 3334.
Kindly assist to resolve this issue. For any help, we would be really thankful.

Hi,
According to your description, it seems that you have created an utility program which is making connection with another service port 3334, however, two clients are facing issue in display the data list from port 3334.
Port: 3334/TCP
3334/TCP - Known port assignments (1 record found)
Service
Details
Source
directv-web
Direct TV Webcasting
IANA
Since the port 3334 is used by directv-web service, I'd like to suggest check this service it is working well on the problematic clients.
1. The client can be resolved in DNS well? Please run "nslookup" in the prompt command.
2. Is there any 3rd party application interrupting? Do test in clean boot.
2. Strongly suggest you run process monitor tool to analysis it.
I am looking forward to your reply if you have any updated on your side.

• Failed to obtain/create connection from connection pool after redeploy

I have a web application (.war) that uses a jdbc connection pool. The application works fine, however after I redeploy it using the administration console I get "Failed to obtain/create connection from connection pool [ Datavision_Pool ]. Reason : null" followed by "Error allocating connection : [Error in allocating a connection. Cause: null]" from javax.enterprise.resource.resourceadapter and I am forced to restart the instance. I am running Sun Java System Application Server 9.1 (build b58g-fcs)
using a connection pool to a Microsoft SQL 2000 database using inet software's JDBC drivers. I need to be able to redeploy applications without having to restart the instance. Any help is appreciated.

I have turned on some additional diagnostics and found out some answers and a work-around, but I think that there may be a bug in the way JDBC connection pool classes are loaded. The actual error was a null pointer in the JDBC driver class in the perpareStatement method. The only line in this method is "return factory.createPreparedStatement( this , sql );" and the only possible NPE would be if the factory was null, which should be impossible because it is a static variable and it is initialized when the class is loaded. The problem occurs because we deploy the JDBC driver .jar file within our .war file, for use when a client doesn't have or want to use connection pooling. Apparently, the connection pool must have picked up some of these classes and when the .war was redeployed, the reference to the factory was lost for existing connections (not sure how). If I remove the JDBC .jar file from the .war, it works, but that wasn't an ideal solution, the other way to get it to work was to change the sun-web.xml file to have <class-loader delegate="true">. We previously had it set to false in version 8.1 because of interference with a different version of the apache Tiles classes, which has now been addressed in version 9.1.
I still think there is an issue, because the connection pool should never use the application specific classloaders. Am I wrong to believe this?

• Error Message while creating connection pool

Operation 'create.Jdbc.ConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message :
JdbcConnectionPool Already Exists: cannot add duplicate.
But the connection pool for the SQL Server was not there in the list.
What may be the possible reason for this error.
i was trying to deploy a BMP entiy bean using the Sun Application Server.
Prior deploying i just tried to create connection pool and test the connection using the Admin Console
Please help me by providing a solution.

Can anyone help me out in this regard
Regards
KritiHi. I am no expert, but it sounds like a problem with the privileges the user
has... The best thing is to step back to a simpler environment. Can you try
connecting to DB2 with a simple program like utils.dbping? Please look at our
driver docs for the DB2 driver, because there are several variations in connect
properties depending on the type of DB2 you are connecting to...

Solution
(generate seperate url for SERVICE NAME)
jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521/SERVICENAME
------------------------

It is so clear: host not found error for network connection and the other SID servcie name not found means your oracle instance name is not up. check with srvctl status for given servcie name or node, else check CRS_Stat -t if you are using RAC.

• Problem on connect to two servers with SSL

Hey all!
I've got a problem with connecting to two different servers via SSL in one Application. Every Connection works fine on its one via SSL.
But if i try to initialize a new connection it fails every time.
My thought is that the problem is the DriverManager. I'm not quite sure how this DriverManager works, but what i know is that it's a single-ton Class and with that maybe stores some parameters from the first connection which didn't get reloaded when trying to make a new connection.
Here's the way i create the connection ..
String host="best.host.ever";
int port="3306";
String MYSQL_URL="jdbc:mysql://"+this.host+":"+this.port+"/";
DBName="db_foobar";
sqlProps = new Properties();
sqlProps.setProperty("user","foo");
sqlProps.setProperty("password","bar");
sqlProps.setProperty("zeroDateTimeBehavior","convertToNull");
sqlProps.setProperty("useSSL","true");
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", trustStore);
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword", "trustpass");
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", keyStore);
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword", "keypass");
System.setProperty("javax.net.debug","ssl");
printDebug("[Konstruktor] : Connecting to "+MYSQL_URL);
try {
Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver").newInstance();
this.conn = DriverManager.getConnection(MYSQL_URL+DBName,sqlProps);
connectionCount++;
initOK=true;
//Catch stuff following...Is it possible that the System.properties i'm setting are only readed one time by the DriverManager (if it's readed by the DriverManager at all)?
So when i initialize a new Object with different System.properties they may not get used again.
Hopefully somebody has an explanation or a solution for this.
Besides: If i launch the programm twice it's no problem to have to differen SSL connections at the same time.
Thanks for reading and in advance for trying to help!

Yep, it's the standard authentication failure message. (The error code is 1045).
The Exception which is thrown is a SQLException with the message:
Access denied for user 'username'@'p54BB743D.dip.t-dialin.net' (using password: YES)
errorcode: 1045
The code i'm using runs well with one connection and even with multiple connections as long as not more than one connection are using SSL.
To explain:
The user has the possibility to run the application with a user defined data-source (the connection). You can add a new connection and the application will then add a tabbed pane with the same gui but uses the other data source then.
This runs fine with multiple connections (I managed to work on 3 differen intranet servers and 2 different servers online, one of them using SSL)
So all together 5 Connections. Now i wanted to add a 6th server with SSL two and thats the point where it crashes. (Both SSL Servers run perfect on their own with my application - only both together doesnt work).
About that: Class.forName, yes i'm using it every time when i make a new Connection. This is wrong? Could you explain why?
Anyway thanks for your answers so far!

• Problem in connecting JCO destination in web dynpro

HI all,
I was installed sneak preview of Net weaver 6.4,
I want to do some web dynpro (java) programs which connect to back end systems.(R/3 system).
The R/3 system which I want to connect is at remote place, i have connectivity to that R/3 system using VPN connectivity. With this I am not having any problem. Since I am able to connect using User name and password, and able to do some transactions like RZ70, etc.
I developed an application which calls COMPANY_CODE_GET_LIST (BAPI function).
for the above requirement what I did was
(1)I created SLD setting.
(a)Web as Java (I am not having any problem to
Create this.
(b) Web as ABAP.
When i am trying to create
This, there are some steps like i need to go to SAP log in and I need to run the transaction RZ70. For this i need to create an enter in visual administrator>JCO RFC Provider>runtime-->Bundles i need to create an entry for RFC destination as well as Repository.
under RFC destination there are some fields which i need to enter those are (a)Program ID as mySLD (b) Gateway Host as 10.10.10.125 (c)Gateway service as sapgw00 (d)Number of processes as 1
Under Repository (a) Application server host 10.10.10.125 (b)system number as 00 (c)Client number as 100 (d)Language as en (e)user as ABCD (f)password as 1234
I haven't choused the check boxes Local bundle and Unicode and pressed the set button. So like this i created the RFC destinations. under the properties tab there is a property called RFC_DEFAULT_DESTINATION by default it was false so i made it as true. .
I also went to SLD Data Supplier,under Runtime tab , HTTP Settings , I mentioned
(a)Host: pava-vis75
(b) Port: 50000
(c) user: administrator
(d) password: abcd1234
RFC Settings, I mentioned as
(a)Gateway Host: 10.10.10.125 (which is SAP R/3 system)
(b)Gateway Service/Host: sapgw00
CIM Client Generation settings, as
(a)Host: pava-vis75
(b)Port (http/https):50000
(c) user: administrator
(d) Password : abcd1234
I tested the CIMClient Test by click the the button. I got the successful message.
Then I came back to HTTP settings and clicked the button with tilted arrow mark [This triggers data transfer to system landscape directory], for this also I got a successfully message.[data transferred successfully]
Next I been to SAPLOGON and went to RFC Destinations by using sm59 transaction. There under TCP/IP connections i been to SLD_NUC , opened this by double clicking that and under Technical settings for Program ID I had given the ID which I created at visual administrator [JCO RFC Provider] which is mySLD , under gateway options for Gateway Host as 10.10.10.125and Gateway service as sapgw00 then i tested the connection, it was also successfully.
Then I opened the SLDAPICUST and i created a new entry for maintaining the SLD Access Data by giving some couple of entries as
(a)Alias: vissldtest
(b)Host Name: pava-vis75
(c)Port: 50000
(d) user: administrator
(e) password: abcd1234
Then saved it.
Next I created sapmsUV0 3600/tcp entry at
WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services file, and also there are some required entries which are already existing those are sapgw00 3300/tcp to sapgw99 3399/tcp , another entry starts from sapdp00s 4700/tcp to sapdp99s 4799/tcp , next entry starts from sapgw00s 4800/tcp to sapgw99s 4899/tcp and sapmsJ2E 3601/tcp .
I restarted the system, as well as server.
Now my problem is when I was trying to create JCO destination at web dynpro content administrator. For that I navigated as “create JCO Destination Deployed Contentlocal-local/CompanyCodeGetList-Applications CompanyCodeGetList
I Choosed the JCO Connections tab- there are 2 entries those are
(1) COMPANY_CODE_MODEL
(2) COMPANY_CODE_RFC_METADATA
So I started creating connection for COMPANY_CODE_RFC_METADATA.
First one is
General data Name : COMPANY_CODE_RFC_METADATA
Client : 100
I didn’t changed any default JCo pool configuration.
J2EE Cluster
There is a check box called “Use Local J2EE engine J2E on pava-vis75’ so I choosed that.
Connection Type
Dictionary Meta Data and application Data
I choosed the first one.
Then
Msg. Server Connection
Security
After these, I tried to test the connection by clicking the ‘Test Connection.
It is saying the error as
First time
com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to message server host failed Connect_PM TYPE=B MSHOST=v011 GROUP=DEFAULT R3NAME=UV0 MSSERV=sapmsUV0 PCS=1 ERROR service 'sapmsUVO' unknown TIME Fri Jul 01 07:20:41 2006 RELEASE 640 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 37 RC -3 COUNTER 1
second time
com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (102) RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION: Connect to message server host failed Connect_PM TYPE=B MSHOST=v011 GROUP=DEFAULT R3NAME=UV0 MSSERV=sapmsUV0 PCS=1 ERROR service '?' unknown TIME Fri Jul 01 07:20:41 2006 RELEASE 640 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 37 RC -3 COUNTER 1
Can any body please help me to solve this problem.
From past 1 week on wards I have been trying to resolve this. But in vain.

It does not necessarily mean that you have to change that parameter. I read that blog as I had a similar problem, and after reading it and understanding the reasons and possible causes for the error, I found that my particular problem was that I was using "PUBLIC" as the logon group in my JCO destinations, but such a group does NOT exist at my backend. I went to transaction SMLG, had a look at Logon Groups, noted that there were none other than SPACE, figured out that I had to include that information in SLD (Web AS ABAP tech. system --> Message Server --> Logon Groups), put it there. Voilá. It works.
Edit: That SPACE logon group is the one I had to use at JCO destinations. Sorry I forgot to mention that one...
Regards,
Eduardo.

I have configured a DSN with the name "fadd" on the machine with the application server and it used NT authentication. I have supplied an NT userid and password that has appropriate rights on the database "cashbook".
When I write a java standalone program, it does connect but via a servlet it does not connect.
Can some guide me with this problem please ?
Anything one might have observed in the past ? (may be specific to iPlanet ?)
Thanks a lot in advance
~Sunil

I'm using iPlanet App server as well and experiencing similar problem. I load my SQL Server driver by Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"), then use DriverManager.getDriver() to obtain the Driver.
However, the Driver returned is not the SQLServerDriver as expected. The Driver returned is com.netscape.server.jdbc.Driver! And then when I do Driver.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://MyServer"), it throws an SQLException saying that it doesn't accept a jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver subprotocol. Well, of course it doesn't, it's not a microsoft Driver at all.
I suspect the problem is that the netscape Driver's acceptsURL() method ALWAYS returns true in iPlanet app server, thus when you getDriver(), the netscape Driver is always returned (and always returned as the first one since it's default?). Thus even though the same piece of code works fine as a standalone application, it just doesn't work on iPlanet app server.
My work around is:
Class.forName("my.Driver");
Enumeration enu = DriverManager.getDrivers();
Driver useThis = null;
while (enu.hasMoreElements()) {
Driver d = (Driver)enu.nextElement();
if (d.getClass().toString().indexOf("my.Driver") > -1) {
useThis = d;
Mind that my above code does not have an performance issue. If you look into the source code of how DriverManager get a Driver for a particular URL, it also loads the whole set of available Drivers, then call acceptsURL() method on each of them to find the first "suitable" one. Thus time complexity is the same.
I know this is not a very elegant solution and it defeats the purpose of having a DriverManager. Does any one else has a better way to solve this problem, like a way to specify the priority of each Driver so that SQLServerDriver is returned before the netscape Driver?
Thanks a lot.

2. Created a RFC destination in both server.
3. Assigned an RFC user.
What is the next step I need to proceed. I struk up with the following steps.
1. Transaction EWFC0( Configure Action Box)..Created the transaction group (J1f), Created the transaction J1FM.J1F is the namespace for my ADD-ON in R/3.Selected BOR.Given logical system.It asks for the object type and method.
My doubt is,
What object type to be selected or Do we need to create the object type for customer specific transaction...if so where?
After assignening what are the steps I have to do.
