Problem in calling single entity bean from other beans

Hi,
I am implementing session facade with SUN's J2EE 1.3 deploy tool for JBoss server.
I have a entity bean UserBean which creates users in database ( create() )and tells if user exists or not ( findByPrimaryKey() ).
Initially, I had implemented UserBean with remote interfaces. So, any servlet ( my client ) which needed to use UserBean would make a remote call to it. It was used by 5 different servlets.
Now I am going for Local interfaces. So, I am packaging UserBean with other beans which need it.
Problem is, if I package UserBean with , say , ChatLogsBean ( Stateless bean ), it works fine. But when I package it with WebLogsBean ( Stateless bean ) also and deploy all beans together, JBoss gives error messages that instances of UserBean are already created.
How should structure my beans sothat I can avoid these duplication problem ?
Present flow is as follow:
Servlet Stateless Bean Other beans
ChatLogs Servlet --> ChatLogsWrapper --> ChatLogsBean ( Stateless bean ) & UserBean( Entity bean )
WebLogs servlet --> WebLogsWrapper --> WebLogsBean ( Stateless bean ) & UserBean
WordLogs servlet --> WordLogsWrapper --> WordLogsBean ( Stateless bean ) & UserBean
All servlets are packaged into corresponding WARs.
ChatLogsWrapper , ChatLogsBean ,UserBean are packaged into 'ChatWrapper' JAR.
WebLogsWrapper , WebLogsBean , UserBean are packaged into 'webWrapper' JAR
and similarly for WordLogs.
Any help ?
Regards,
Suraj

I suggest you post to one of the forums on jboss.org. There should not be a problem AFAIK having remote and local interfaces to the same EJB. I assume that you gave these unique names (FooHome/FooLocalHome..etc...) for the home and remote interfaces and declared both in the ejb DD.

  • Can CMT Session Bean call BMP Entity Bean in WebLogic 6.0?

              Hi
              Does anybody successfully use CMT Session Bean calling BMP +CMT Entity bean in
              WebLogic6.0? I have the following problem.
              Any idea will be appreciated.
              --Winston
              Let's say we have a Session bean SB, it uses container to manage the transaction.
              A method of SB will call an Entity Bean EB which adopts bean-managed persistence.
              Both SB and EB use CMT and all of their methods use "required" in the descriptor
              file.
              1. If the connection con.getAutoCommit() is true in the EB, then the transaction
              within SB cannot be rolled back as the ejbCreate() has already commit into the
              database.
              2. On the other hand if Connecton of EB con.getAutoCommit() is false, then container
              cannot successfully commit the transaction from SB's method, as EjbCreate and
              EjbStore() in EB are likely using the different database connections, which causes
              EbjStore() fail and the following error message will be sent to the Console:

    We did receive a 4.5.1 / 5.1 interoperability patch - but it wasn't quite 'seamless'.
    We never tried to use it.
    SOAP? Isn't that around 50 times slower than RMI?

    I have the same question - and more. Last year we were told that wecould
    not use
    RMI (and ejbs) between 4.5.1 and 5.1. Which seems kinda weird becauseI've
    heard
    of people using WL ejbs from Tomcat. This issue has caused us to avoidusing
    WL ejbs in any future development which has any chance of ever beingused
    by any
    app server (WL included) that is not under the direct control of thedata
    center.
    I've been trying to convince the Architecture team here that we canuse WL
    EJBs
    and we can call them from other app servers - but can't seem to getany
    supporting
    statement from BEA (maybe I haven't tried hard enough).
    Anyway, a response from BEA would be appreciated.

  • Character conversion problems when calling FM via RFC from Unicode ECC 6.0?

    Hi all,
    I faced a Cyrillic character convertion problem while calling an RFC function from R/3 ECC 6.0 (initialized as Unicode system - c.p. 4103). My target system is R/3 4.6C with default c.p. 1500.
    The parameter I used in my FM interface in target system is of type CHAR10 (single-byte, obviously).
    I have defined rfc-connection (SM59) as an ABAP connection and further client/logon language/user/password are supplied.
    The problem I faced is, that Cyrillic symbols are transferred as '#' in the target system ('#' is set as default symbol in RFC-destination definition in case character convertion error is met).
    Checking convertions between c.p. 4103  and target c.p. 1500 in my source system using tools of transaction i18n shows no errors - means conversion passed O.K. It seems default character conversion executed by source system whithin the scope of RFC-destination definition is doing something wrong.
    Further, I played with MDMP & Unicode settings whithin the RFC-destination definition with no successful result - perhaps due to lack of documentation for how to set and manage these parameters.
    The question is: have someone any experience with any conversion between Unicode and non-Unicide systems via RFC-call (non-English target obligatory !!!), or can anyone share valuable information regarding this issue - what should be managed in the RFC-destination in order to get character conversion working? Is it acceptable to use any character parameter in the target function module interface at all?
    Many thanks in advance.

    hey,
    I had a similar experience. I was interfacing between 4.6 (RFC), PI and ECC 6.0 (ABAP Proxy). When data was passed from ECC to 4.6, RFC received them incorrectly. So i had to send trimmed strings from ECC and receive them as strings in RFC (esp for CURR and QUAN fields). Also the receiver communication channel in PI (between PI and  RFC) had to be set as Non unicode. This helped a bit. But still I am getting 2 issues, truncation of values and some additional digits !! But the above changes resolved unwanted characters problem like "<" and "#". You can find a related post in my id. Hope this info helps..

    Hi,
    I think you are trying to test the Hello world EJB example shipped with the product. As a first
    step I would recomend you to go through every line of the document on deploying this application,
    since, I too have experienced many errors while trying to deploy the sample applications, but on
    following the documentation, I subsequently overcame all the errors and have been working with the
    applications. So please follow the steps in documentation and let me know, if you still encounter any
    issues.
    Regards
    Raj

  • Problem in calling BW web templates from Netscape 7.0

    Hi all
    I have a problem in calling BW web template from Netscape 7.0, it gives an error " port number not accepted for security reasons" .
    It works on Netscape 8.0 and ie.
    regards
    Paul

    This is the very frequently asked question about Netscape.
    http://ilias.ca/netscape/browserfaq/#portaccess
    Solution is:
    find the file <b>c:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\defaults\pref\all.js</b>
    and append the following string to this file:
    <b>pref("network.security.ports.banned.override", "1080");</b>

    Hi friends,
    Can i call a pdk portlet from other pdk portlet when an event happens.
    Scenario:
    I have a pdk portlet with 10 html links. When anyone clicks on a link then a new portlet should be displayed in the same page.
    Is it possible to call one portlet from others.
    Please help me out with ur ideas or any workarounds.
    Thanks & Rgds,

    Neeraj,
    Let me state my requirements very clear to u.
    1)I have a search portlet at top right corner.
    2)Below there is a region with 3 tabs(say A, B, C).
    3)When anyone searches for anything in the search portlet then the results should be displayed in new search tab(say D).
    4)If any one navigates to other tab(ie A or B or C) then the search tab(ie D) should not be displayed.
    This is my requirement. Can u please suggest me with how this can be achieved. I am just a beginner to Oracle portals10.1.4 and i am using JPDK to create portlets.
    Please do reply ASAP.

  • Calling Local Entity Beans from another Application

    Hi,
    I packaged all my Local entity Beans in 1 single Application (APP1.EAR).
    I then I have another Application (APP2.EAR) which is made of Session Beans which require access to the APP1 application.
    I'm using this code to achieve this:
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "manager");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://<host>/APP1");
    context = new InitialContext(env);
    ... (BeanLocalHome)context.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/BeanLocal");
    I get the Following Exception:
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: java:comp/env/ejb/BeanLocal not found
    1) is there any problem with this code?
    2) can local interfaces be accessed by another Application (or can they be accessed only by the same application) ?
    Regards.
    giuseppe.

    Hi ,
    thank you for your answer.
    I'm still in trouble:
    these are the steps:
    App1.jar entity beans.
    App2.jar Session bean.
    I embedded the App1.jar into the App2.ear
    dir :
    App1.jar
    App2.jar
    application.xml (added the App1.jar)
    then I added this in the ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptor for App2.jar
    <ejb-link>../App1.jar#BeanName</ejb-link>
    for each entity bean.
    But I still get :
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: java:comp/env/ejb/BeanNameLocal not found
    java.lang.Object com.evermind.server.ApplicationContext.lookup(java.lang.String, boolean)
    ApplicationContext.java:110
    java.lang.Object com.evermind.server.ApplicationContext.lookup(java.lang.String)
    ApplicationContext.java:66
    java.lang.Object javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(java.lang.String)
    What am I missing ??
    Thanks.
    giuseppe.

    Hi,
    The Transaction Rollback exception may be due to the SystemException thrown in your findUserRoles() code which force the container to rollback the transaction. catch the generic exception in your findUserRoles() code and veriy what went wrong.
    i hope this helps.

  • Somehow ejbCreate method of an Entity EJB is not inserting a record into the database. I'm using BMP and calling the Entity bean method from a servlet. I'm using NAS 4.0 sp5 on Win 2k.

    Also if I call the insert query from within the servlet it works fine. I have disabled global transactions. Am I missing something out ? Please
    any help would be greatly appreciated.

    May be your servlet is not able to lookup the EJB. You can use some print statements and see whether lookup ok or not.
    Just a guess.
    Plese get back, if any queries.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh.

  • How to use same transaction when calling CMP entity beans and  DAO (JDBC)

    We are currently using Weblogic 8.1 SP2 with an Oracle 10g database (using XA thin and non-XA drivers).
    We have a session bean that invokes an entity bean and a DAO (data access object pattern) in order to add data in 2 separate tables (account and history). Rows are added to the first (account) table using a CMP Entity bean while inserts are done in the 2nd (history) table using a DAO. Here is some pseudo code:
    addHistorySessionBean (trans-attribute="Required")
    begin
    Step #1 - call addAccountEntityBean (trans- attribute="Required")
    Step #2 - call addHistoryDAO (get datasource, connection)
    end
    The 2nd table (history) has a foreign key constraint to ensure that the corresponding key exists in the first (account) table. Unfortunately, DAO inserts on the 2nd (history) table fail with a foreign key constraint violation (INTEGRITY CONSTRAINT VIOLATION - PARENT KEY NOT FOUND!) since they cannot see the row added to the 1st (account) table in step #1 by the CMP entity bean.
    How does one ensure that all this is done in a single transaction ? It appears that the app server creates two seperate transactions (one for the session bean facade and the entity bean and a 2nd transaction (when we retrieve a connection using the same data source JNDI name) for the DAO.
    A post on server side suggested using a "<resource-ref>" in the session bean to tie the two potentially separate transactions together, but that does not work for us. However, I am not sure if we are doing that correctly. After we define the resource ref in the session facade bean, do we use the resource ref "name" attribute to lookup the datasource or do we still lookup the datasource by JNDI name ? Do we need to define the resource-ref tag in the entity bean also ?
    Does Weblogic allow using a single transaction for this type of a scenario ? How does one specify within Weblogic that the same transaction should be utilized by the entity bean and any subsequent DAOs?
    People have also suggested that we defer constraint checking until the transaction(s) are committed but that sounds like a work acount without addressing this issue. Would postponing the constraint checking in Oracle cause any additional overhead ?
    Any suggestions with specific examples or documentation on how to address this issue will be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, this does not work since it appears that there are 2 separate transactions going on here. One, the original one initiated by the session bean and used by the entity bean and the other initiated by the DAO. Any other ideas appreciated.

  • Problem with Read-Only Entity Bean

    Hi All,
    I have an Read-Only BMP that just read data from 20 tables and stores them in a Collection. In a 'Read-Only' Entity bean, the ejbLoad() is supposed to called periodically as defined by 'read-timeout-seconds' parameter in 'weblogic-ejb-jar.xml'. But this doesn't happen. Every time I invoke the EJB, ejbCreate() and ejbLoad() get called. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

    Yes, it calls ejbLoad() at intervals defined by read-timeout-seconds, but only when bean
    is requested by the client, and the cached copy is old. If bean just sits in the cache
    unused no ejbLoad()'s will be called.

    Rajesh,
    Thanks for your reply. I&#8217;m using WL6.1 sp1. When I log the methodcalls,
    this is what I see on the server console.
    SetEntityContext()
    ejbCreate()
    ejbPostCreate()
    ejbLoad()
    As you see, the ejbLoad() doesn&#8217;t get called every 5 sec, eventhough I
    set the &#8216;read-timeout-seconds=5&#8217; in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml,
    Do you have a working example for Read-Only BMP on WL6.1? The examplesdirectory

  • Problem with cache refresh entity bean / server node

    Hello,
    ive got a big problem and not found answer in sdn until now.
    Ive got a job that gets data from maxdb by sapjob - jco - session bean - entity bean - database.
    this job works daily. the data to work with is written directly to database from external.
    on first execute it works, but second etc not. i search for answer and i guess something:
    entity bean is cached (increase percormance?) with results of the select and do not know about new database entries when they are written directly to database. so second select says: there is no new data (but they are there).
    i only get this new data when i restart netweaver server node, then it works, but only for one time. then result is in cache and then i have to do same procedure before it goes (restart server).
    how can i get this data? is there any setting for force node to refresh cache? or any other settings to affect something like this?
    we have to go live with this in august.
    thx for help.
    Version: NW04, SP21

    thanks at first.
    OSS was the next step i consider, enforcedly.
    I hoped that there was a kind of timeout in visual admin or somewhere else where (for example) i can set a special time (seconds?) for refreshig the cache. Or i can set a flag for "do not cache entity beans".
    Someone else any idea?
    Nowadays on test system whe have made a task that starts windows every night so that netweaver also is "fresh". a kind of resolution but not the best and no resolution for the productiv system. or whe have to write a kind of batch job that only restarts server node once a day.
    New Info:
    I think cache was filled directly after restart.
    when we restart, then data are written, and then our application wanted to read them, they are also not seen.
    The data are only seen by bean when the restart takes place AFTER the data are written into db.
    So we change restart time to point after data are written. so we will test if this works, on monday we will see.

  • Problem with transaction with Entity Beans in R2

    I had a transaction (initiated by a session bean (requires new)) that takes two entity beans (two bank accounts) and trasfer funds from one to another. It looks like the container is waiting for the transaction, i don't know, here comes the exception I get (this code used to work with a lot of simultaneous clients with R1) :
