why does calc dim does not work when xref function is used in account hierarchy......
while i was trying to use the said command essbase was giving error which specified "login credentials do not match"
and the log which created was" Error retrieving user by identity"

Calc Dim Problem

Hi gurus,
i have a calcscript to clear data(replacing data with #missing) in particular combinations and aggregating the period dim by using Calc Dim.
Problem is,when i cleared data first time in Halfyearly2 it is only clearing data For Idesc of H2 and aggregating correctly with H1 data to YearTotal.
Now second time when cleared data in Halfyearly1 data clear is succesfull but comes to aggregation still i have data in Yeartotal though
descendants of H2 data and H1 data is missing.
Why i'm still having data in yeartotal though Idesc of H1 and Idesc fo H2 data is missing and also aggregating the period dim.

Hi Kailash - this all sounds like normal Essbase BSO behaviour. You can control whether missing values aggregate up using the SET AGGMISSG command / 'Aggregate Missing Values' database settings. Check out the Tech Ref / DBAG / EAS Help sections:

The brief explanation is that with AGGMISSG ON, where all child values are #Missing a calculation will roll them up to a #Missing value at the parent. With AGGMISSG OFF, where all child values are #Missing a calculation will not alter the parent value.
You have to be careful with using this globally if you sometimes load data directly to non-level-zero members, as values can then be overwritten.

Facing Problem while executing a command through WLST

Hi,
Iam using Weblogic 11g(10.3.2).Whenever I execute the below command in WLST on windows it is working fine.
reassociateSecurityStore(domain="base_domain",admin="cn=orcladmin",password="welcome1",ldapurl="ldap://<hostname>:389",servertype="OID",jpsroot="cn=jpsroot_idm_idmhost1")
But whenever i execute the same in Linux,it is throwing the error as below:

I am facing issue in executing commands through VC++ application.
My application is a dialog based MFC application in VS2008.
I want to execute below commands programmatically.
devenv D:\TestApp\TestApp.sln /rebuild release
devenv D:\TestApp\TestApp.sln /rebuild debug
But I am not able to set the current directory path as "D:\TestApp\" programatically.
Through which API I can execute multiple commands on command prompt programmatically same as we do manually on cmd.

Problem during executing Command Prompt

My current code is executing system commands through java programme,like �dir�,�date� itc.Whenever I run the code the desired output comes.But when I am running the code continuselly then lots of command prompt open regularlly.
Is there any way to stop the code from execution untill unless the command prompt get closed manually?Here is my code.

Problem with Calc Dim

Hi, I'm getting pretty confused now... I'm trying to correct a modelbuilt by someone else a while ago (not much is working). Ineed to do a calc dim on a budget center dimension and for whateverreason, I receive an error message each time. I don't seeanything weird with that dimension... and I'm receiving an errormessage saying it is an Invalid Cal script syntax (but there is noerror in the syntax). Any idea??? So to resolve this i have created a script .. and passed arguments to that script and chaged command as follows :

Then it is executing fine. But in my scenario iam restricted to use scripts.

How to speed-up CALC Dim and/or AGG Dim

Hello Everyone,
I am new to Essbase and apologize for such a generic query. I came across a calculation script that takes more than 10 hours to execute. The crux of the script is CALC Dim (DIM) where DIM is a dense dimension with 11 levels (and a lot of calculated members). Can anyone guide me about the approach to be adopted to optimize the script. I was fiddling around with CALCCACHEHIGH parameter in essbase.cfg file and the SET CACHE HIGH declaration in the script. Will that help?
Some details of the original script are outlined below. The basic optimization parameters are in place (like the dense dimensions are at the end of the FIX list etc)

Thanks for your suggestions. I will definitely try to implement them and post the results. Meanwhile, here's another script which should not take too long to run. However, this script runs for hours. Any suggestions would be great (this does not have the cache options implemented yet). I have added some more details about the dimensions involved.

Why CALC DIM work so long? When I use AGG execute time is more then 1800sec!!!!
I try to play with dim order, I move LegalEntity, LegalEntityICP, EntityICP on top (under dense dim) but result still the same.

Wow, you are covering a bunch of different issues.
Here's the issue -- the number of blocks the code touches. The more it has to address, the slower it goes. There's no way round that.
There are a few things you can do:
1) Introduce parallel calcs (I am assuming a calc script, not a user-run Business Rule). See the [Tech Ref|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/esb_techref/set_calcparallel.htm] for more information. The DBAG also has information on this -- you should understand the theory behind it before you go full speed on it.
2) Adjust your data and index cache (this one is only going to help a little). See the DBAG for more information on this. Do not dedicate your life to this one -- there are some quick hits that can help; going beyond will be an exercise of increasing effort for decreasing results.
3) Make sure you FIX on level zero of all of your other dimensions.
4) Think about what's in your block. Accounts and Time don't have to be the only ones. Do you know how densely populated your other dimensions are? Search this board for techniques to figure that out. The denser the dimension, the more likely it is to be in the block. Blocks size becomes a lot more plastic if you're on 64 bit Essbase.
5) Btw, you have the right idea when it comes to limiting the scope of the calc to get better times. I use that approach for different purposes in Planning Business Rules as shown in my blog.

You've proved that the fewer blocks your code addresses, the faster it runs.
However, since you need to calculate this data sooner or later, I'd go with one of the general recommendations (and I am sure others will chime in, too) and start working with those approaches.

Calc Dim vs Agg

to my understand when you want to agg up a Dense dimension you use Calc Dim in the Calc Script, and when you want to agg up a Sparse dimension in the calc Script you use the AGG statement
what is the different in the to process

Does the definition of AGG not help from the documentation
"The AGG command performs a limited set of high-speed consolidations. Although AGG is faster than the CALC commands when calculating sparse dimensions, it cannot calculate formulas; it can only perform aggregations based on the database structure. AGG aggregates a list of sparse dimensions based on the hierarchy defined in the database outline. If a member has a formula, it is ignored, and the result does not match the relationship defined by the database outline."

In the case , I found that "TO_CHAR(PLAN_DT, 'MM/DD/YYYY')" is alaised as a
column name in the resultset. So I am using this as a column in Jato
Descriptor for Plan_Dt. Now it is working fine.

Problem using extension manager CS5 with command line

Hi All,
I had posted my question here : http://forums.adobe.com/message/4695419#4695419, but was advised to do so here as well..
I have a requirement to get the path of all the installed Extension Managers on any Windows system for the purpose of installing an extension.. I thought, there would be no problem in getting the path from the registry. There was no problem in Win XP, but the same does not work for Win 7.. I googled, and found alternate ways to get the path.

I created a jsx file named "Result.jsx", which I saved in my D drive, with the following code,

If I run this directly from ESTK CS5, there is no problem, and I get the result.log file. I tried to execute this script via command line as shown in the screenshot,
On executing the above, I got the following error,
What is going wrong?

I am sorry for the poor documentation of Extension Manager which causes you so much trouble.
1. You can use BridgeTalk API to ask specific version of Extension Manager to do something. There is sample in packaging_extension.pdf about this. You don't need to know the installation path of Extension Manager. One thing to note is that the value of bt.target is version specific, i.e. "exman-5.0", "exman-5.5" send this message to different version of Extension Manager, so you can change this value to install/enable/disable/remove extensions using different version of Extension Manager. More detailed documentation of BridgeTalk can be found by clicking "Help" menu then clicking "Javascript Tools Guide CS5" in "Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS5".
2. Specific version of Extension Manager only manage extensions for corresponding version of product. You should use Extension Manager CS5 to install extensions for Photoshop CS5. The reason that the extension you installed for Photoshop CS5.1 using Extension Manager CS5.5 is displayed for Photoshop CS5 in Extension Manager CS5 is that two versions of Photoshop specified the same directory for Extension Manager to manage extensions. This is a defect and will cause some problems if multiple versions of Photoshop co-existed in one machine. But "to find previous (CS5) extension manager and to enable it" should work for you, I guess you use command line to enable it and specify wrong product name (see #3) so that it doesn't work.
3. When using command line, you should specify "product" attribute with the name displayed at the left panel of Extension Manager. So "Photoshop CS5 32" is correct. Remember to enclose it with double quote because of existence of space character.
4. As above mentioned, use display name of Photoshop, and call proper version of Extension Manager by BridgeTalk.

Problem in executing report using rwrun.sh with runtime/lexical parameters

My problem is as follows..
I'm using SuSE8.0, with Oracle DS installed..
I made a rep file to execute a report from command line using rwrun.sh.
For the first time I got problems with single quotes and later I solved it by using \ as escape sequence and I can generate the report.
I have 2 lexical parameters.
1) atable --> for table names
2) whereford --> for WHERE condition
When I make the following command I execute it successfully and get the report .

If I don't use \ for escaping braces it doesn't work and also for spaces and single quotes.
I use braces as I get sometimes mixed conditions..
But when I make a condition like for eg: emp.emp_id = dept.emp_emp_id it is not executing..
i mean primary key is referd to foreign key of another table.
so in the same way the error prone command looks like this

when I had a look at the trace.log file I see that particular condition is transformed in to
MESSWERTE.mess_id = 'SD_DIAGNOSESYSTEME.mess_mess_id'
but this is completely awkward.
Then I made a batch file and tested it on windows and i put the whole condition in double quotes and it worked always fine..
It seems the problem is with the shell ..or ??
In my rwrun.sh th elast line looks like this..
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwrun $*
I also tried to chaneg this to
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwrun "$@" and also $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwrun "$*"
but no progress..
If some one could help me it would be gratefull for me..

Here's the relevant portion from the Bash manual:
Enclosing characters in double quotes preserves the literal value of all characters within the quotes, with the exception of $, `, and \. The characters $ and ` retain their special meaning within double quotes. The backslash retains its special meaning only when followed by one of the following characters: $, `, ", \, or <newline>. A double quote may be quoted within double quotes by preceding it with a backslash.
So basically stop escaping the single-quotes with a backslash, and instead enclose the entire argument value in double-quotes. Add the single-quotes only if you want them literally, don't escape the parentheses, etc. Let's know if it works for you.

can any one guide me how to run the test casese in JFCunit ? as when i tried to run thru command prompt its not recognising the main class at all.
Now i m trying with eclipse problem here is that it is showing error to this line of code
DialogFinder dFinder = new DialogFinder(loginScreen);
error is constructor is undefined?
So looking for some solution.

I've some troubles to execute specific "real" VBS command lines in DIAdem script:
e.g.:

Using other writings as

don't help, I always get error messages. It seams, that DIAdem has problems with recognition of := .
How can I include such kind of VBS command line in a DIAdem script without getting problems?
