Problem in forums.

These days a lot of problems are being seen in forums,
Clicking on blogs dont open them, then manually i have to edit the address to remove s from https, to make the link work,
clicking on posts given back in search too face the same issue.
after logging as soon as go to forums at top right i'm being shown as guest and i wont be able to login or reply to posts for sometime.
I guess everybody might be facing these kind of problems, what has happened to the forum. why has it become so messy

The saga continues... Had to logon manually again, it ignores the certificate. Two more reports of the problem:

hitting forums first = not logged in
Hope someone is looking into it.
P.S. Well, at least the font size looks great now, ha-ha!

Problems with Forums publication on ISA server

I installed portal 7.0sps 14 and published it on Microsoft ISA Server. Now I faced with the problem - JIVE forums dont't work at all. If I try to work with portal without ISA using internal link, forums work fine. What I see working with ISA - it cuts part of the index.jspa, and forums don't work. I think it can be due to Content-Length attribute which appears only when I'm working with ISA.

Problem with forum user name

I appear to have been 'bitten' with the user reset problem. My original id is now "nealeh-Y42Jq8" while my original "nealeh" now appears as a brand new user. I recall others having this problem in the past. How do you get it put right?

I noticed that, as was going to point you to the Forum Comments forum, where Adobe-Admin (John) would be able to help you, BUT the forum was so very wonky today, that it was taking me six log-ins, just to read the PrE forum.
It looks like you have the "real" Neale back, and I'm glad.
For the fix, just post to the Forum Comments forum, with your log-in details (sans PW). John will fix things for you.

Another user with login problems to forums

Whenever I come directly to the discussion boards by typing in discussions.apple.com in Safari (1.3.2) address bar OR typing support.apple.com and then clicking the discussions link (in the purple bar) I'm greeted as guest. I click login and Safari helpfully fills in the details then several things happen (no pattern found yet).
1. I'm prompted for my login again and told the user name or password was wrong. It will then accept the next autofill by Safari. Forums function normally.
2. It greets me "Welcome Marlinespike" in the sidebar and prompts me to login again. Clicking any other link (e.g. My Questions, or iTunes) takes me to the forums and I'm not prompted again. Forums function normally.
3. It greets me "Welcome Marlinespike" in the sidebar and says "you only have read (or was it guest?) privileges and presents me with a page to create an account. Ditto 2 in that I can click anywhere and bypass the "please make an account".
The problem occurs every time I navigate to the forums home. If I leave SAfari running but close all windows, it'll happen.
I don't know if this is related to recently getting Safari 1.3.2. My Safari was 1.2 until last week. This login issue has only started for me in the past week. Also, I can click a link in the forums and will get a 404 not found error, but if I refresh the page (CMD-R), I get it.

FYI, since downgrading my OS back to X.3.8 and Safari to 1.2 I've not had any login difficulties yesterday or today. Also have not had any threads "not found" to be found upon refreshing. Perhaps there's some weird java thing going on with the forum logins that affects SAfari 1.3?

Problem with forum handle

As you can see if you click to view my profile my forum handel is "Ivan Ćurić". First and last letter of my surname is ć or in unicode "c with acute" (uppercase: U+0106, lowercase: U+0107). Due to some problems in your forum software my surname is displayed as "Ivan Ćuri&..." - last letter of my surname is replaced with "&" sign.
I supose it is a bug in character counting and conversion from unicode to HTML entities.
Please, will you consider repairing this?

It's a known problem that happens occasionally.
The loss is not permanent, your handle will return once the necessary server/service is back to normal.

I have confirmed the disappearance of the search function. It is a flaw in IOS 7. I tried in Safari after upgrading to 7.1 and it does not appear. There is nothing we can do about it. Suggest you get help from Apple in their support forums.

Thanks for the images to help explain the problem. What happens when you hit F5 (refresh the page)? What happens if you hit Menu? What happens if you hit the AVSIM icon and let the page reload? I doubt there is a fix for this but Tom, the owner and garbage cleanup maintenance worker here at AVSIM Headquarters, will have to take a look to confirm. I’m guessing that your I-Pad browser is trying to conserve space and shrinking the Icon which contains the search engine. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. As far as I know you are the only one who has reported this problem which indicates to me the issue is with your I-Pad browser.

I now have screenshots of exactly what I'm talking about...
As I log in, the "VIEW NEW CONTENT", and search text box shows up, and then disappears.
I used IOS7 in both circumstances on my iPad Air
In one case Safari, and in the other case Chrome ...same deal with both.
...unfortunately there's no way to include them in this venue...where can I submit the screen shots showing the problem?

I have had this a few times recently. Me too. Bloody annoying. I didn't even bother reporting it. What's the point? Somehow, "Your login page is broken," will get babelfished to, "Please add some more useless whiz-bang bells and whistles while ignoring all the broken functionality and poor usability issues."

Weird Safari problems with Forum

I've been having random problems with the forum and Safari. When I am not logged in I see this:
Every user, every post is the same except for the occasional (see the 7th row) odd one. I'm also not able to sign on. The login screen comes up but when I enter my un and pw the next page just reloads in a constant loop during the redirect. This is happening on 4 different computers 3 with OSX 10.8.2 and one with the lateest version of OSX 10.7. All have the latest version of Safari...

The forum database crashed a few days ago. There's all sorts of oddities. Not browser related (though of course you could always use a "decent" browser ).

Problems with forum posting editor

Many times that I use any text formatting or (not sure what), when I try to preview or post the reply, I get error:
Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied.
Can anyone confirm they've seen the same issue?
Where should this bug report be directed?
When that error msg appears, nothing is ever been removed. The same text formatting & all content are the same, but it still doesn't allow submitting or previewing it.
It also doesn't highlight the errors,so they can be corrected. Just lets you guess.
When previewing or submitting this post, it gave the error. The 1st time, I found an extra blank line (a blank line?). Removed it, then I could submit.
To further test, I added basic formatting (bold, italics) & changed color of a word. Once, it accepted that. Another time, it didn't.
I removed all that formatting (by most editors' process) - still didn't like it.
Found it was the text color. It was removed on the page, but still a problem. I deleted the word & re-typed (no color). It accepted it. Takes too much time guessing - like a blank line.
If it requires plain text - OK. Just remove the wysiwyg & don't allow any imported / pasted content to be anything but plain text (remove all formatting).
I don't have this problem on any other forum that I remember. Thanks.

Thanks, but nope - it's too inconsistent. Very. In the same post / reply, within a few min. span, or different days & posts or replys. Doubt that's related to moving up ranks?
Besides, how long do you have to be a member, how many posts, etc., before it allows using HTML, that 90+% of all forums allow the 1st day?
It's too much trouble, just to see Preview (no other forums work like this). Just because I accidentally hit Return twice?
I'd rather ditch rich text - but don't seem to be able.
I turned it off in CP settings & saved (it's still disabled in settings, after logout & login).
Logged out, closed page / tab.
Cleared all cookies, cache, etc.
Logged back in. Rich text still showing in the Post or Reply editor, though is still disabled in CP.
Most every forum will remove extra blank lines, spaces (if doesn't like them) - not force users to review every space.
If formatting (any) doesn't work, or if user hasn't achieve proper rank, just disable formatting toolbar.

Problems accessing forum.

I haven't been able to log in to this forum since they updated it. I have been forced to use another computer to log in, but I can't use Netscape Navigator on it. I am wondering if someone could tell me what the problem is. I think it might have something to do with a web browser that I downloaded around the time that this forum was updated. It's called Opera and is from http://www.opera.com

A website http://www.sickdeath.com loaded fine in IE and Netscape untill I tried it in Opera,then it stared to load http://www.searchshack.com and now every browser I have does it too! Apart from the problem which Alvaro put up few days back, there is another big wrong-thing I observe on forums. There is lot of repitition of the questions. The same question is asked again and again. I request people to search through the forums first and then post the qurestion.

Unfortunately, there is no way to stop this happening! Several times in this forum this has been raised, and suggestions have been proposed, but most of them are either too strict (over moderation) or rely on the members doing the "right" thing.

Problem with forum

I had been away from the discussion boards for a while, and when i tried to log in got a "This ID has been suspended for security reasons' error. I figured I might be using the wrong username or password (hey, it's been a while) so I chose the "Have you forgotten your username" option, entered my info and e-mail address, and got a link sent to me where I could go to renew my passowrd.
After renewing the password I went to a page that asked me to set up a new account and choose a new alias, etc. Sure enough, when I logged in it was to a new account, no record of my previous membership and no listing of my previous posts.
I'd like to ask an Apple admin if I could get my information transferred from my previously existing account to the new one. Could someone let me know how I can contact the board moderators (other than posting some speculative comment on new products ), or could an admin post to this topic.

I see the link "Search for all user messages" but after I click on the link what do I search on to find my previous post to the App Exp Forum?? I have tryed every thing I can think of under the "Forum" and "User" tab and nothing works. The search Results show only 7 messages going back to Dec 23, 2008. I know I have a lot more posts to the form in 2008. I'm still not finding what I need.
