Problem in Importing  DC in Web dynpro

Hi All,
I am not able to import a DC project in web dynpro.
I followed the help guide according to which i opened the development configuration perspective and local view inside that.
Problem is that the DC folder which is to be imported is not visible in the MyComponent tree. I have copied the folder in .dtc/local development.
Please help me out. Purpose is to integrate 3 modules into 1 which have been developed at 3 different systems.
Thanks in advance!

Anubha
If you are using  NWDI you must login and then you will see active , inactive and local tabs.You have to open the local tab and then if you open the Mycomponents tree you will find your DC for importing.
Award points if useful !!!

  • Error when importing an old web dynpro project

    Hi all,
    I've have upgraded my Sap Netweaver Developer Studio from 2.0.13 to 7.0 .
    Now when i try to compile my old WD project it returs the seguent errors:
    1)The project was not built since its classpath is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for java.lang.Object. Fix the classpath then try rebuilding this project
    2)This compilation unit indirectly references the missing type java.lang.Object (typically some required class file is referencing a type outside the classpath)     PackagePointer.java     Project/gen_ddic/datatypes/com/sap/function/model/types     line 1
    Where can i find the java.lang.Object?
    thanks, Daniele

    Hi all,
    maybe is too late.. but I wish to share my humble experience with you.
    I encounter in a similar problem...
    When I'm working with Web Dynpro (Messagge Pool) suddenly the NWDS seems to be crazy and give me the error "this compilation unit indirectly references the missing type java.lang.Object "
    I read many post, this one too, but still got the problem.
    Compare the current WD project with another one I found that my project didn't have rt.jar ibrary in its library list.
    So I add in WD project - properties - Java build Path - Libraries  the rt.jar library.
    In my case it was in C:\j2sdk_dir\jre\lib\rt.jar.
    So I build project and the problem desappear.
    I hope this experience will be usefull.

  • Problem with external libraries and Web DynPro

    Hello,
    we're stuck here.
    We're trying for a week now to include external libraries(e.g. Hibernate) into our Web DynPro Project, without success so far.
    We read every single forum and blog entry we could find on this topic.
    E.g.: /people/valery.silaev/blog/2005/09/14/a-bit-of-impractical-scripting-for-web-dynpro
    We're running Netweaver 2004s SP9 Trial Version.
    The biggest problem is, that when we deploy an J2EE Server Component Library DC exactly like described in the blog entry above, although it is deployed correctly an lists under Server->Libraries in Visual Administrator, the external hibernate.jar doesn't get deployed onto the server. It's just an empty container named hib/lib without any entries in "Jars Contained". The sda file of the library DC also has only 2K and doesn't include the hibernate.jar which we added as used dc...
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Or is there a simpler way to include external jars into Web DynPro Projects and deploy them to the server? (We already tried putting them into the lib folder without luck, we always get "NoClassDefFound...")

    Hallo Christian,
    this is a bug which should be fixed in NW 7.0 SP9 patch1: [Look at this forum thread on the same issue: External Library DC in NW2004s SP09|External Library DC in NW2004s SP09].

  • Problems using remote debugging for Web Dynpro applications

    Hello All,
      Have anyone ever encounter the above mentioned problem ? I am not able to step through my codes nor break @ my breakpoints using the debugging features despite many attempts following the tutorial on "Debuggng Web Dynpro applications". The problem always occur when I click on the Run -> Debug -> "Click on Debug". The debug perspective will show the threads running but my application window dows not appear. Should attempts  be made to "Terminate All" threads and relaunch my apllication again, I will get an error message   saying "Deployment of archive file already running : XXX.ear" Then I will need to wait some 15 mnutes or so before I can try again. Any suggestions ? Thank you.
    The status of my J2EE engine is as stated in the tutorial:
    1) State = "Debugging"
    2) Debug Mode = "On"
    3) Restricted Load Balancing = "Yes"
    4) Productive Use = "No"
      I have posted similar queries under "JDI" and "Web AS General" but did not receive and sugestions.

    Hi
    You should Create and Deploy if you want to reflect the code changes that you just did. However if you just want debug to an existing code then you need not Create and Deploy.
    This can also be done as a two step process where you first deploy from NDS and launch Debug without create and deploy.
    Is the issue that after you launch debug that it does not launch the application window.

  • Problems using Visual Composer with Web Dynpro runtime

    I am currently trying to build a Visual Composer iView and we need to use the Web Dynpro runtime rather than Flash because it needs to work with a screen reader for users with sight problems.  Which is a pity because Flash works fine. But when I use Web Dynpro runtime I'm getting the following problems:
    a) When I define fields and pushbuttons in forms where Align Contents is set to Absolute, they do not appear at runtime in the positions in which I've placed them - all form elements are aligned vertically.  The only other options are to align all fields vertically or align all fields horizontally.  This lack of flexibility makes it rather difficult to create a good screen design; the only option seems to be to create a separate form for each set of differently aligned fields, which leads on to the next problem.  .
    b) When I define more than one form on a page, again at runtime the forms do not always appear in the positions in which I've placed them; the compiler seems to calculate how much space it needs to display the screen elements and then re-sizes and  re-positions the forms accordingly, ignoring what I've told it to do.
    c) Toolbar pushbuttons do not appear on forms (they do appear on tables).  Irritating, but at least I can still create pushbuttons on the form itself.
    There are other issues, but the main problems is that it appears that when I use VC with Web Dynpro I cannot trust the editor layout at all and the only way I can build something that looks decent is to fiddle about with  field / form sizes and positions, checking every change on the output, until hopefully I get it looking ok.  Having to do this will dramatically increase the time taken to develop VC applications.  Has anyone else experienced these problems with VC and Web Dynpro?  Has anyone managed to overcome them?

    Thanks, but neither of these describes the problems I've been having.  And they are misleading since they say that you can use VC with Web Dynpro only with Web Services ie not directly with BAPIs / RFCs, but using it with BAPIs / RFCs is one of the few things that works well in our system.
    The most recent problem I've found is that if you make a form or table read-only it will stay read-only in Flash but the fields are editable in Web Dynpro.  The individual field disable option does work for Web Dynpro, but it turns the fields from black to a vey pale and almost invisible grey (this doesn't happen in Flash).  And you can't seem to change this.
    It does seem to be a bit pathetic that input fields can't be made read only.  I've tried expression boxes, which are read-only anyway, but they appear in as pale a grey as the disabled input fields.  And although plain text fields can be added to tables, they are pretty useless since they can only hold a single value and so all the lines will contain the same value.
    I guess I should resign myself to the fact that I am never going to be able to produce a decent screen using VC and Web Dynprp.

  • Problem with FQDN when creating Web Dynpro App

    Hi @ all,
    when create a WDA the url is set like this: HTTP://SAPVM1:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/z_wda_sample.
    I defined the icm/host_name_full and the SAPLOCALHOSTFULL correct*, but it did not work. I have also restarted the system more than one time. I searched a lot, but found no solution here on sdn.
    *correct means : sapvm1.mydomain.de
    Even if I try to start a default wda example the wrong FQDN is set. But if I start the wda at the SICF (test service) it works, the FQDN is set right.
    thx in advance.
    Timo

    Hi,
    it seems that the httpurlloc table was the problem. The host entry in this table was no FQDN, I changed it into FQDN and it works. Now the generated url of the web dynpro applications is correct.
    Maybe this helps somebody else.

    I used two views and one customer-controller . I put some value in the first view to set search condition.and the second then appears and have the download UI element. Are there any additional codes I should use? pls help!

    Hi Hao,
    Try this out
    Suppose the file name is test.doc in c drive in server
    create a context attribute filedata of binary type
    bind it to data property
    write the following code
    try
       File input = new File("C:
    test.doc");
       int length =(int)input.length();
       //Create a byte array b to hold the file
       byte b[] = new byte[length];
       FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(input);
       //Reading the file to a byte array b
       in.read(b);
       in.close();
       //Setting the data from the byte array to the context element.
       wdContext.currentContextElement().setfiledata(b);
    catch(Exception ex)
      wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Error in File
      IO"+ex.toString());
    // Structure information of the context attribute
    IWDAttributeInfo attinfo = wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("filedata");
    IWDModifiableBinaryType binaryType = (IWDModifiableBinaryType) attinfo.getModifiableSimpleType();
    // Default File name which appears when opened on client machine
    binaryType.setFileName("testing.doc");
    //Explicitly setting the file type
    binaryType.setMimeType(WDWebResourceType.DOC);

  • Problems with tutorial: "Creating a Web Dynpro Tree"

    Hi!
    I'm a rookie and therefore I'm practicing on compleating some tutorials like "Creating a Web Dynpro Tree" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0ec6622-8da5-2a10-349b-868b6a553efa)
    I did just as the tutorial told me to (I think) but still I get a java.lang.NullPointerException when I deploy and run my application.
    In the bold line is where it is something wrong:
    public static void wdDoModifyView(IPrivateTreeView wdThis, IPrivateTreeView.IContextNode wdContext, com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDView view, boolean firstTime)
        //@@begin wdDoModifyView
           if (firstTime) {
                IWDTreeNodeType treeNode = (IWDTreeNodeType) view.getElement("TreeNodeType");
                /* parameter mapping from parameter "path" to
    parameter "selectedElement"
                treeNode._mappingOfOnAction()._addSourceMapping("path", "selectedElement");
                /* parameter mapping from parameter "path" to
    parameter "element".
                treeNode._mappingOfOnLoadChildren()._addSourceMapping("path","element");
        //@@end
    What I don't understand is what the function/meaning of the parameter path is. The parameters selectedElement and element I do recognize and have written. And I don't understand why there is a difference between the two underscored line of code (see above) even though the comments claim that it does the same kind of mapping.
    Best regards
    /Johan

    I tried to get "addSourceMapping()." underscored so people would better understand what I was referring to but it didn't work and that's why it looked weired.
    Thanks for your help Armin, now it works fine.
    It was as you said.
    if (firstTime) {
    IWDTreeNodeType treeNode = (IWDTreeNodeType) view.getElement("TreeNodeType");
    When I changed "TreeNodeType" to it's real ID, "TheNode" I didn't get a nullPointerException. I think it must be wrong in the tutorial because I followed the instructions which said to name it "TheNode" but then the author mus have forgot to change it from the default ID ("TreeNodeType").
    Best Regards!

  • Importing EJBs into web dynpros

    I have created EJBS and I would like to use these EJBs in
    web dynpros. How do I do it.
    I think I can create a jar file for the EJBS and reference them in my Web Dynpro project but I think that is not the right way to do it.
    Thanks,
    PKK.

    Hi Simon + Praveen,
      I will try to walk you through how to do it but I think you may need a bit of experience with EJB's, Web Dynpro and NWDS to understand it right away. <i>The following assumes you have created a session and entity bean.</i>
    First you need to make sure your table is deployed in the database that you created(dictionary perspective).
      Second deploy your EJB (.ear file) to the J2EE engine (J2EE development perspective)
      Third switch to Web Dynpro perspective and goto your project properties (right click on the project and click properties)
       Now goto Java Build Path - libraries - add external jars and add the EJB-Jar file. then choose the tab called "order and export" and move the jar file to the top.
    <b>THIS IS A LITTLE TRICKY</b>. Next you need to add the sharing reference. In the same properties wizard where you add the java build path select Web Dynpro References and then select the Sharing references tab. Click on Add and enter the vendor name and name of the ear file like this <vendor name>/<name of the ear file>, This is how your web dynpro knows where the ear file is on the j2ee engine. <b>IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT IT IS</b> you need to access the J2EE visual administrator. and goto SERVER 0/Services/Deploy then select the "runtime" tab then look under <i>Server 0/EJBContainer</i> save all your meta data. your WD application now accesses your EJB logic.
    Good luck!!

    Hi,
    If the import fails with the message that certain instances of the CIM class SAP_AssociatedContext were not imported, repeat the import. These errors are caused by an incorrect sort order in the export file. When starting the import again ignore the warning that data already exists. Choose Import anyway.
    Also go through this Document.

    Hi,

    I get the "error" unable to convert data and the transaction is terminated.
    I dont have any idea why.
    Help
    Thanks,

    Hi
    Are you getting the problem  while saving the Adobe form  or while saving the webdynpro application.
    Could you please elaborate your problem.
    Regards
    Naresh

  • Organise import error in Web Dynpro Java .

    Hello Experts,
    Once you done with the application based on RFC and maintained some code in wdDoInit() it wil give some error , where you have to do some step to debug that error .
    step :
    1)  Click on the Error line and right click for options
    2) Select Source >> Organise Imports
    3) once you select the Organise imports then it will remove the error point to that line in WDJ .
    In this case , step no. 3 is not happening , where there is no typo error.
    and the error message is "Bapisfldst cannot be resolved or not a type" .
    Please advise.

    Hi Yash021,
    This is clearly due to missing import.
    If you are following the tutorial, it is clearly mentioned in the doc as below:
    You need to create two instances of class Bapisfldst in order to populate the DESTINATION_TO and DESTINATION_FROM parameters.
    Regards,
    Vijay.

  • No data from a RFC imported in a Web Dynpro project

    Hi all,
    I'm experimentig an issue in an app that calls a RFC, the RFC is returning nothing, no message, no error, no data. I tested the RFC in R3 and is doing what is supposed to do, it was tested also in the SLD content manager and it responses well to the ping and test command.
    This is what am i doing in the component controller called Rgsm_Reload_Comp
    this in the wdDoInit:
      //@@begin javadoc:wdDoInit()
      /** Hook method called to initialize controller. */
      //@@end
      public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
         try {
                   Z_Ep_Ess_Gral_Get_Empl_Data_Input input = new Z_Ep_Ess_Gral_Get_Empl_Data_Input();
                   input.setP_Usrid("GRAMIREZ");
                   wdContext.nodeEmpl_Data_Input().bind(input);
                   wdContext.currentEmpl_Data_InputElement().setP_Usrid("GRAMIREZ");
                   //input.setP_Usrid(wdContext.currentEmpl_Data_InputElement().getP_Usrid().trim());
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   IWDMessageManager msgMgr = wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager();
                   msgMgr.reportException("Error al inicializar la RFC de datos personales " + e.getMessage(), true);
        //@@end
    This in the execute Bapi method called from the view:
      //@@begin javadoc:executeBapGetDataEmpl()
      /** Declared method. */
      //@@end
      public void executeBapGetDataEmpl( )
        //@@begin executeBapGetDataEmpl()
        //Traemos los datos del empleado comunicandonos con la RFC Z_Ep_Ess_Gral_Get_Empl_Data
              try {
                   wdContext.currentEmpl_Data_InputElement().modelObject().execute();
                   wdContext.nodeEmpl_Data_Output().nodeHr_Personal_Out().invalidate();
              } catch (Exception e1) {
                   msgMgr = wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager();
                   msgMgr.reportException("Error al inicializar la RFC de datos personales " + e1.getMessage(), true);
        //@@end
    And last this in the Rgsm_Reload_ComView the view controller, the action to call the execute method in the component controller:
      //@@begin javadoc:onActionfindEmployee(ServerEvent)
      /** Declared validating event handler. */
      //@@end
      public void onActionfindEmployee(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionfindEmployee(ServerEvent)
        wdThis.wdGetRgsm_Reload_CompController().executeBapGetDataEmpl();
        //@@end
    I've followed all steps in online tutorials I found, but I don't know what is wrong, if somebody can help me on this I'll really appreciate it.
    Best regards,
    Ramien.-

    Hi Kranthi,
    Yes I'm pretty sure of the input parameter, because P_Userid y conformed by first letter Name and followed with complete last name I.E "RROSILLO".
    Also I've found in a note how to activate log details in the Was I set it to all instead ERROR (as default shipped). On one of log files I found an exception:
