Problem in Loading a report

Hi there,
We have a problem on loading a report.
For some users, when they try to load the report the system prompts for username/ password.
This is a Web application system, where we use Windows authentication and impersonate=true.
I suppose that this problem might occur since users do not have access to C\Windows\Temp.
Thought for security reasons we do not want to give access to the users in this directory, and we do not want to change the temporary directory of windows ( from changing Temp Environment Variable)
We have also try thr bellow solution with no results:
"To change the CR temp folder, in registry, set the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Crystal Decisions
Report Application Server\InProcServer\TempDir "
Is tehre any way to change the default loading path for reports from C:\Windows\Temp to somthing else?
Thanks for your help.

Hello Maria,
the reg key you are describing is for inproc RAS. In my opinion this has only limited importance for your problem as you more likely have a user authentication issue.
Please try to narrow down the problem that 'some user can / others can't log in'.
What is the difference between these users ? Please check the database settings / possible roles for these accounts.
Please also see if these user can access the reports in the designer or if they get the same database issue. Is it just one report / a group of reports or all reports where you face that issue ?
Thanks a lot

  • Problem in Loading - Invalid Report File Path

    Post Author: a_Mohammad
    CA Forum: .NET
    Im using CR which came as a bundle with VS2005. I deployed my ASP.NET project on online server. Sometimes, When users try to load the reports, they got an error says "Invalid Report File Path" appears at the top of the report, and no data shown. If i reset the IIS, it return to work fine again.
    Usually i got this error when there is a lot of hits on the server and reports..
    Can you plz advice on that???

    Hello ,
    The formula must always return some value. When a conditional test produces no result and this code is responsible for the RETURN in a formula, the error occurs. Make sure that the condition returns a value in all cases (trap errors).
    Example:
    Problem code
    function CF_1Formula return Number is
    begin
    if :deptno = 10 then
    return(10);
    end if;
    end;
    If deptno is not 10 , this does not return any value .
    Correct code
    You can write the function as:
    function CF_1Formula return Number is
    begin
    if :deptno = 10 then
    return(100);
    else
    return(200);
    end if;
    end;
    Thanks

  • Performance issue of loading a report

    Post Author: satish_nair31
    CA Forum: General
    Hi,
    I am facing performance related problem in some our reports where we have to fetch some 1-2 lakhs of reports for display. Initially we are passing the dataset as the source of data to the report. It takes hell of time to load using this technique. After that for improving the performance we are only passing the filter condition through the report viewer object. This way we have improved a lot but now also its taking some time to load reports which is not acceptable. Is there any way to improve the performance.

    How could you possibly know if you're in the same situation, the original poster didn't include the software or the version being used, whether it's the RDC, etc. Very likely the reason why they received no responses.
    They also referenced 2 different methods for retrieving the data, which are you using?
    The trick is to make sure that you are passing all of the WHERE conditions in the SQL to the database.
    You can probably check this using a database tool, but again, nothing technical in your post about the database either, you certainly shouldn't expect quality help.

  • Problem on using Crystal Report Viewer on windows application ("specified type is not valid ")

    Hi
    I am having problem on using Crystal Report Viewer on one of my windows application.
    I am not sure how to put the Crystal Report Viewer 11 Control onto the tool box.
    I could found a Crystal Report Viewer control on my computer, but it is version 8.5.
    I have also found another one which is Called Crytal ActiveX Report Viewer, i don't think it is the one I can use. As when I try to load a dummy report on to the Crytal ActiveX Report Viewer, It return an error. "specified type is not valid"
    Please see the Code sample below.
    private sub loadReport()
         Dim r as New ReportDocument
         'v is the name of the Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control
         r.Load("C:\Report1.rtp")
         v.ReportSource(r) <---It throw error on this line.
    End Sub
    Could you give me some advice about what have I done wrong, How to check if I have set up the Crystal Report Component correctly in my Visual Studio 2005 Standard edition.
    Thanks in advances.
    Many thanks
    Chi

    VS 2005 Standard and Express editions do not come with Crystal Reports; only the Professional and higher editions will have CR bundled. However, I believe you can purchase CR XI R2 Developer and it will give you the components you need to create a VS .NET 2005 application using the Standard edition.

    Hello Eddie,
    please post some more information about your problem.
    What is the name of your CRM app?
    Who developed this app?
    Did it never work or do you get this error only now?
    Always or only sometimes only?
    In what versions and on what patchlevel are you working ?
    Thanks for some more info

  • Can I edit the rpt file & change the datasource before loading the report?

    We are an ISV and our application has a lot of reports.  Our reports use a SQL Server database as the data source and each SQL Server at our customer sites has a different name.
    In our testing we have determined that ReportDocument.Load tries to connect to the SQL Server that is saved in the RPT.  If it can't fine the SQL Server saved in the RPT the load take about 60 seconds while it is waiting for the SQL Server Connection to time out.
    We are using the Visual Studio 2008 version of Crystal Reports.  This did not seem to be a problem with VB6/CR8.5.
    We would like to edit the RPT and change the data source to the appropriate SQL Server before we call ReportDocument.Load.
    Is it possible to edit the rpt file and change the data source before loading the report?
    Or is there some way to tell Crystal not to try connecting to the DB
    during the report.load?
    In our case we will NEVER use the data source that is saved in the RPT, we will always change the data source using ApplyLogOnInfo.
    Thanks

    HI Todd,
    You Can Not edit the report document before ReportDocument.Load() because if you dont load the report then you dont have anything to Edit
    But as far as changing the datasource is concerned you can change that at runtime.
    For changing the datasource following code will help you if both databases have a same schema :
    Code for changing the database
    ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    crConnectionInfo.ServerName = "SERVER";
    crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "DATABASE";
    crConnectionInfo.UserID = "USERID";
    crConnectionInfo.Password = "PASSWORD";
    // Loop through the ReportObjects in a report and find all the subreports
    foreach(ReportObject crReportObject in crReportDocument.ReportDefinition.ReportObjects)
         // Check the kind of the ReportObject, if it is a subreport
         // proceed. If not skip.
         if(crReportObject.Kind == ReportObjectKind.SubreportObject)
              // Get the SubReport in the form of a ReportDocument
              string sSubreportName = ((SubreportObject)crReportObject).SubreportName;
              ReportDocument crSubReportDocument = crReportDocument.OpenSubreport(sSubreportName);
              // Use a loop to go through all the tables in the main report
              foreach(Table crTable in crSubReportDocument.Database.Tables)
    // Get the TableLogOnInfo from the Table and then set the new
    // ConnectionInfo values.
    TableLogOnInfo crLogOnInfo = crTable.LogOnInfo;
    crLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo;
    // Apply the TableLogOnInfo
    crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crLogOnInfo);
    // Set the location of the database. This value will vary from database to
    // database.
    crTable.Location = "DATABASE.OWNER.TABLENAME" or crTable.Locations;
    The sample for doing this is available on support site.
    Thanks,

  • Problem in loading images when i am connected on company network

    Hi friends, I am using firefox since last 4 months on my windows 8 pro laptop.but since last month I am facing problem in loading images when i am connected on company network but same time it is working fine with ie10. But all these thinks are working well at my home when I am using broadband.

    I don't completely understand your issue. Does this issue occur on 1 network and does not occur on another? Have you tried clearing cache and cookies and making sure your plugins are up to date?
    Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
    Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
    #Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    #Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    #From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
    #Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
    Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
    Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the [http://mozilla.com/plugincheck Mozilla Plugin Check site].
    Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
    If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
    To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

  • Problem with loading native library in java version "1.5.0_05"

    My application uses a native coded drawing. With java version 1.4.xx it was working just fine but with java 1.5.xx it gives the following error at the time of loading native library:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /home/abyzov/tmp/friend32-1.6.02/libfriend.so:
    /home/abyzov/tmp/friend32-1.6.02/libfriend.so: undefined symbol: XtWindowToWidget
    I assumed that java loads all necessary X-libraries at start up but it seems to be not true for version 1.5.xx. Does anybody now about this kind of problems? Should I report it as a bug?

    I have this exact same problem. I developed an application all along using 1.4.2_08 to be exact no problems. I was forced to switch to 1.5.0_06, now when I try to run the app I get:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: <path to library>/libcomlib.so: <path to library>/libcomlib.so: undefined symbol: yp_get_default_domain
    I have tried compiling it in both 1.4.2_8 and 1.5.0_06 and it compiles perfectly but when I run with 1.5.0_06 it messes up.
    If you found the problem with this or anyone else has any advice please let me know.

    I got a procmon log file and examined it. I have the file and I could also provide you with that or screenshots of it.
    There is nothing unusual about it. I can see entires in which CR has successfully opened the report and has cached in a c:\windows\temp.
    However there is one or two non-successful entries that may be related, especially that examining the stack trace brings us to a call to get_ProductLocaleID():
    - A call to read reg entry HKU\S-1-5-20\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Locale fails with NAME NOT FOUND.
    - immediately after that and from the same process (w3wp.ex) there is a call to open directory "c:\" which is logged as ACCESS DENIED.
    Any subsequent unsuccessful calls seem to be results of exception handling in the debug code.
    Does this point to any setup issues with CR? We always run the redistributable x86 runtime when installing it.

  • Reproducible error when loading many reports (Load report failed - Not enough memory for operation)

    Environment:
    Win 7 SP 1
    Visual Studio Pro 2012 Update 4
    Crystal Reports for Visual Studios Service Pack 10 (13.0.10.1385)
    Report created in Crystal Reports XI Release 2 (11.5.8.826)
    Targeting x86 .NET 4.0
    Scenario:
    We have a program that runs and creates a large number of reports before the process is ended. When running after many hours we'd get a Load report failed/Not enough memory of operation exception. I kept removing code and found i could reproduce just using the report.Load call. I simplified the report to a completely blank report to make sure it was nothing specific to a report I was loading. (Opened Crystal Reports XI Release 2, Save As, "Blank.rpt".). I then created, loaded, and disposed of this report in a loop. I was able to cause the same exception after 32,764 iterations on my machine. I also tried using .NET 3.5 same result. I added a counter to our main program and it also went through 32,764 report loads before the same exception was thrown. Main program uses 15 or so different reports with a variable number of subreports in each.
    Sample Code to illustrate the problem:
    I did this as a WinForms project since our main program is using winforms.

    int = Int32. No it's not the "counter" that's causing the problem. The max size of an int32 is far far larger than 32764.
    I am disposing and cleaning up the datasets in the main app. That is why I didn't include them in this test; they aren't relevant.
    I'm unsure why this test program is completely irrelevant. It throws the same exception, at the same count, as the main program. It does it in substantially less lines of code than our main program. I spent days running long tests to figure out exactly what I needed to make the problem appear so I could post a clean and precise post on these forums. I then created the test program to illustrate that.
    The "real" code as I said does stuff in sections and in a certain order.
    For each report I need to export based on rows in a table
    1. Creates a new Report Document
    2. Loads the report document with the report
    3. Creates a dataset of the data to display
    4. Calls SetDataSource
    5. Calls Report.ExportToDisk
    6. Disposes DataSets
    7. Closes/Disposes Reports
    To help isolate the problem I first took out the export to disk part (Step 5). The problem still occurred. I then took out everything related to our data. (Step 3, Step 4, Step 6). The problem still occurred. And yes I commented out this code in our main real program. This left me with:
    1. Creates a new Report Document
    2. Loads the report document with the report
    7. Closes/Disposes Reports
    At this point i had to prove it was not dependent on the report. This makes sure it's not a database connection, or pulling too much data into the report. The most efficient test for this is a blank report.
    So my order of operations becomes...
    1. Creates a new Report Document
    2. Loads the report document with a blank report
    7. Closes/Disposes Reports
    So you'll see this is exactly why I wrote this test the way that I did.
    I've had a run where it error on iteration 32761. My last runs have errored on 32764. I have had many runs over many weeks that all error with the same exception.
    There are no temp files left behind, With a test running you can see the temp files being added but they are immediately removed.

  • Slow Loading Crystal Reports

    Post Author: mel
    CA Forum: .NET
    I am using CR XI R2 SP2 and I am experiencing slowness when accessing a report within my application.  Though the report is always displayed faster the second time, the first time the report is displayed can take anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds.  Overall, the time it takes to display the report is inconsistent.  I was able to trace the source of the slowness to the ReportDocument.Load(ReportPath) call.  Can anyone please offer suggestions as to the cause of the slowness, and how to improve the speed?
    Thank you.

    Post Author: ole
    CA Forum: .NET
    Yes, I have same problem. When using CR in .NET-Application the first time, the initialisation is very slow. To work around I made a background threadafter starting the application with some CR operations like ReportDocument.Load(). When user will start CR really the initialization is done. Another fact: On users machine database connection has to be set dynamically by application at runtime. On Reportdocument.load the report looks for developper database (of course not reachable). Of course that is extremely slow. I made a workaround to load report once slowly, change database connection, and save report with new database connection for the next time. Next time loading is much faster.I don´t understand, why CR is looking for an useless database server when loading before I can set the real connection. Nevertheless: Performance of CR.NET should be improved.

    A similar problem was reported before on this Forum - see
    Re: not able create connection to timesten
    checking the Release Notes I can see 11.2.1.8.0 has been tested against Glassfish 3 but I
    can't see any mention about Glassfish 2 in the v7 or v11 Release Notes (albeit only on a quick
    search).
    In my full install on XP, ttJdbcCS1121.dll is in C:\TimesTen\tt1121_32\bin

  • Having Problems with loading a ReportDocument

    Hello all. I've developed an ASP.NET 2.0 application in C#. As per documentation I've previously, my app loads a report based on a file path string. It then sets the logon credentials. When the user views the report, the report sets the necessary parameters accordingly and the ReportViewer sets the ReportDocument object as its datasource.
    The problem I'm having is that the ReportDocument.Load() method seems to take considerably longer than the other functions involved in generating the report. This function takes roughy 20-35 seconds to execute and consequently degrades the performance of the web app. Is there anything that can be done to speed up this method? If not, are there any other methods of generating a report to display in the ReportViewer? I tried using the ReportSource control and it was very unstable. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello Mark:
    You are seeing a "normal" behavior, if this is the case on the load of a first report. Subsequent reports should be significantly faster. Only way to make the first load appear faster is to load the CR assemblies and dlls on app start. E.g.; load a fake report on app start. Unfortunately, those 20+ seconds will now move to the initialization / load of the app...

    BTW., downloading the latest Service packs is never a bad idea and may help a bit, but not 10+ seconds for sure.

  • Hide the database connection window when load a report in a viewer control

    When I load a report in viewer and the datasource is empty always appears a window for connect to database. How I can hide ALWAYS that window. Is possible? I did see some ways for do it, at before versions of CR, but seems don´t works in last version of Crystal Reports for .NET.
    Anyway, is possible show a default text in viewer for information to user than don´t exists data?
    Many thanks for the help, and excuse me my poor english.

    The structure of XML is that: http://slexy.org/view/s20h0LVX1b
    The XSD showed is used for the design of report.
    In the empty datas the prompt dialog appears. The XML is different depend of context from application.
    When I have the XML then load it in a DataSet object, and call the SetDataSource method from ReportDocument. In that moment ReportDocument don´t have any information over his state? Exists some way for know if will need extra information from user through the prompt dialog? In that case I could load another report with "NO DATA" text, but I don´t have info.
    For example, is possible override the behavior from Crystal report viewer for show a different window? I did see events but nobody works for me.
    Many thanks for the help and excuse me for my poor english.
