Problem in mapping from  import manager  to Data manager

hi friend's....I got a problem while mapping the data from import manager  to Data manager .The problem is the data in import manager (i.e source hierarchy) will map to single filed in data manager ( i.e target hierarchy)..
Help me it will be great full to me

Hi Ana,
If you have a hierarchy in this format:
N1            N2                 N3
A              A1                 A11
A              A2                 A21
A              A3                 A31
B              B1                 B11
Then u have to follow these steps for import.
1. Select source file and destination hierarchy table at top of import manager.
2.  Go to Partitions tab (Second tab) Just above the tabs, if u click on the plus sign against your source file, you will see N1, N2 and N3. Cick on N1 and in partition tab, add N2 to right side by double clicking on N2.
3. Now add N3 to right side by double clicking on it.
4. Go to field mapping (Third tab). There you will see a field N1(Partition). Map this field to yourhierarchy field on destination side.
5. In value mapping (Below the field mapping), Expand your source hierarchy. Select all (ctrl + A). Click on "Add" button. Select "Add Branch as child" option.
6. Go to Matching tab (Fourth tab). only one field will be there. take ity on the right side. and select the import action as "Create".
7. Go to last tab. Click on import button.
Your hierarchy has been imported. You can check it in data manager (in hierarchy mode).
Hope this solves your problem.

Dheeraj.

    Dear Experts,
I have two questions regarding the data manager.
Q1.Is it possible to import "Comments" from the csv file via Data Manager?
We'd like to import the amount with "Comments".
    My image of csv file is like below;
    ACCOUNT,CATEGORY,TIME,ENTITY,INPUTCURRENCY,AMOUNT,COMMENTS
    1100000,ACTUAL,2010/06,LC,30000,This is comment
Q2.Is it possible to import the dimension "members" from the csv file via Data Manager?
We have a user-defined dimension named "Project"
and would like to import the members, instead of maintaining them in BPC administration manually.
I found an online help information which says "Import Master Data from a Data File Example",
but I could not find any relevant sample package for this.
(I tried to import the members by using "Import" package, but it failed...)

    Hi Fumi,
In this case, I would suggest you to create a customized SSIS package which will fill-in the "Comment<APP>" table, according to the csv file you have. I do not know any standard package that allows you to import comment the way you would like...

  • How to view the key mapping when viewing Hierarchy in Data Manager

Hi! I previously posted a question on doing value mapping using the hierarchy code rather than the name. I have got that working now using concept of remote key. When I first loaded the hierarchy with remote key and check in Data Manager, I can see the hierarchy structure with the key mappings. However, when I subsequently went back to the hierarchy to have a second look, the keys are gone. Does anyone know how I can view hierarchy in Data Manager with the key mappings?
    Cheers!
    SF

    Hi,
Go to Record mode, and open Hierarchy table. Now to select click on any hierarchy node record and then right click and select "Edit Key Mappings". This will show you existing keys as well as allow you to manually modify keys. You can only Check Remote keys on hierarchy in Record mode and in Hierarchy Mode "Edit Key Mappings" option will be disabled.
Please revert if you face any issue.

  • Syndication process - Tags in Data manager Selecting the map in Syndication

    Hello Experts,
I am supporting a repository in MDM 7.1, and there is a part of the syndication process that i don´t know how does it work. This is the process what i mean:
The repository works with 3 different maps, the map is selected in  MDM Data Manager belong a 'syndicatable' tag. Two of the maps are selected inside Qalified tables.
What i need to know is where could i see the configuration for that automatic mapping (it is performed belong MDSS), could anybody help me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mariano Pinkava.

    Hi Mariano,
In addition, please go through page 223 (mds.ini) & 272 of Console Reference Guide.
    Syndication File Location:
When MDSS completes a syndication to a port, it places the syndication file in the portu2019s Ready folder. The Ready folder is part of the following fixed directory structure, located beneath the MDM Serveru2019s distribution root directory:
    root/DBMSinstance_DBMStype/RepositoryName/Outbound/ RemoteSystem/PortName/Ready
    where:
u2022 root is the distribution root directory (set in mds.ini).
u2022DBMSinstance is the network identifier used to specify the DBMS instance name and DBMStype is the four-character identifier for the DBMS type (i.e. MSQL, ORCL, IDB2).
u2022RepositoryName, RemoteSystem, and PortName are the values entered in the Code property for each item in MDM Console.

  • Governance and Data Management

    Hello,
We need to know about governance and data management, from this week I am working as master data coordinator in Empresas Polar (Mass Consumer Products Industry), where the role of this function is to assure the creation and maintenance of the master data, as initial activities we are raising statistics to know the most important information of the master data in all SAP modules, and the idea is across own developments in R/3, Portal, Workflow and Tools that exist on the market to simplify Update of the information on the part of the user, we know that in SAP the information is created in different views or transactions, which makes very difficult the opportune update of the data.
I am interested to know about MDM or any tool/application which eolud help us,
    I appreciate your help,
    Thanks

    Hi torres,
The MDM system for master data management and single-source cross-media catalog publishing does more than just database management, asset management, or even database publishing. It uses an industry-standard SQL-based DBMS as a u201Ccontaineru201D for the repository database. But then it goes much further to implement an elegant and seamless combination of many different technologies, concepts, and minute details to create a comprehensive solution to an
age-old problem. Many of the features incorporated into the MDM system are unique.
    ADVANTAGES
End-to-end solution. The MDM system provide an end-to-end
solution that automates the entire process of managing master data from start to finish, including bulk data import, centralized master data management, and published output to a variety of media.
u2022 Database-driven system. MDM layers a thick shell of functionality on top of a powerful SQL-based DBMS so that the MDM system is fully scalable and the master data is fully accessible to other SQLbased applications and tools.
u2022 Large capacity. The MDM system efficiently manages master data repositories containing up to millions of records.
u2022 Superior performance. MDM breaks through SQL performance
bottlenecks to deliver blazingly fast performance that is measured in milliseconds rather than seconds and is literally 100u20131000 times that of a SQL DBMS alone. No other system on the market today delivers comparable performance.
u2022 Powerful search and retrieval. All of the MDM modules include
powerful search and retrieval capabilities, so that an entire repository of thousands or millions of items can be easily searched and any item or group of items located in a matter of seconds.
u2022 Cross-media publishing. The MDM system is the only one on the market today that includes tightly integrated functionality for both electronic and printed output, for Web, CD-ROM, and paper output from a single MDM repository.

    - Data Manager for PackageExecute
    - Run specific package for PackageExecute
    - Run user package for PackageExecute
can anyone explain me these new steps?
Is it possible to link the data region from BPF to the Element selection in a specific package?
Exmple: in BPF i select a category, time and entity.
When starting a package, i would like to have these selections filled automaticly in the associated fields of the package.

    Hi,
    1) We use Import manager to import the spreadsheet  data. You can map the fields in Import Manager.
Once the data is imported ,you can see the data in Data manager. You can edit ,update certain records, validate them  in data manager.
2)Person resposible for importing data must have Import manager and Data manager  installed on PC.You can even automate the import process.Apart from this if you have any other role like approver then you can install Data manager only for them to approve via data manager
End Users can search using SRM .they dont need the clients intalled on their system.

  • NEW TO SAP BPC - Advice on Data Management Packages

    Hi,
I am an experienced Microsoft BI User, but am new to SAP BPC.
I am working on a project that has required me to create custom SSIS packages for my client. To date my packages transform / cleanse and format the source into a clean CSV file, that requires no further intervention from the user, other than to use the standard SAP BPC Import Routine, with a simple Transformation file.
In order to fully automate the process, I would like my Custom package to automatically invoke the Standard import package without any user based intervention.
    Can anyone advise on this?
I have considered writing further logic in my custom package that would completely bypass SAP BPC Data Manager, and insert the information direclty into the Fact Tables, taking into consideration any members that don't exist in the Dimensions. However, I would prefer not to go down this route unless absolutely necessary.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, so that I can call a clear routine from within my custom package, that would invoke a SAP BPC package /task to clear certain data from the fact table, and then call another Package / task that would update the Fact table based on a fully prepared csv file.
    Many thanks

You could modify your custom package to perform all the steps thru BPC import and have the user initiate the Package from the BPC Data Manager.  You would just need to add a MODIFYSCRIPT variable (see the standard IMPORT package as an example) and add the BPC tasks required to Convert/Load that data your package already prepares.
I have had prior success having a custom package initiated from within the BPC Data Manager extract data from an external data source (ie: Oracle), use user provided runtime input to customize data extraction parameters, manipulate the extracted data, and import it into BPC.
Unfortunately I've never attempted to initiate a BPC task without the package being initiated from within BPC.  But I would surmise that if you provide the proper values for the individual BPC Tasks (ie: Convert and Load) required properties (ie: AppSet, App, User,...), I cannot think why it would not work.

  • Central Master Data Management

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me about central master data management ?
In what way it is difference from consolidation and harmonization?
I have gone through several documents but i did n't get any idea on that topic.
If anyone have knowledge on CMDM, Please explain in their own words.
    Thanks
    Narendra

Consolidation and Harmonization procedures are very different from CMDM (central master data management), however often times CMDM is not very useful without considering the other two as well.
Consolidation essentially means creating identity around your master data across your landscape.  More specifically you want to identify duplicate records and merge them into one record.  Harmonization is the process of pushing the new cleansed data back out to your partner systems.
Central master data management is the process of creating and managing enterprise level attributes in one place.  One common mistake that people make is that central master data management means having one place to create your records and containing ALL data.  This is not correct, MDM focuses on enterprise level attributes.  In other words, which attributes are KPI's, shared across multiple processes in scope, shared across multiple systems, important for reporting, need ultimate quality, etc.  Once you have determined your data model then you begin developing the workflow (if needed) around the creation of master data.  This way you can easily keep your data clean and free of duplicates moving forward following a consolidation and harmonization process.

  • Using own SQLite DB in combination with Data Management

    Hi,
Currently on a huge project we're we are using LCDS 3.1 in combination with a AIR 2.5 client.
I've been reading "Using Adobe LiveCycle Data Services ES2 version 3.1" and I have a question. In the chapter "Building an offline-enabled application" it says on the very first line:
"You can use an offline adapter with an AIR SQLite database to perform offline fills when a desktop client is disconnected from the LiveCycle Data Services server. An offline adapter contains the SQL queries for AIR SQLite for retrieving cached items like an assembler on the server retrieves items from the data source."
However, in my experience that AIR SQLite database is not just any DB but one that Datamanagment designs and generates itself, based on the Dto the DataManagement destination is managing. The offline adapter doesn't work like an assembler at all, because the documentation says you can only override the methods pertaining to constructing the WHERE, and ORDER BY parts of the queries, not the SELECT, CREATE, FROM,... parts.
In our case, we have a database on the server, constructed according to a very specific ERD, and we have a SQLite database on the client, also constructed according to a very specific ERD. What we want to do is execute every fill, create, update, delete against the offline cache and only synchronize with the backend when we want it the synchronize (technically possible by playing with the autoMerge, autoSaveCache, autoConnect,... properties). So what part of datamanagement can we customize to use our DB instead of a generated one?
    Thx in advance!

You are correct in noting that Data Management does not allow you to use your own database to store offline data.  This data is exclusively managed by the LCDS library for the developer.  The intent is that the local cache is a reflection of the server data, not an independent copy.
If you have an existing database in AIR, then you will have much more direct control over the querying and updating of that data by using the SQLite APIs directly.
That being said, you can in essence replicate the data stored on the server, managed by Data Management, in the offline cache.  In an upcoming release (winter 2011) we will have a few features ('briefcases' and a 'changes-only' fill) that will make this story even more compelling for your use cases.  But even with the 3.1 functionality, you can do something like the following:
Perform a fill() to collect the data you want to have available on the client, save this in the offline cache
Construct an Offline Adapter Actionscript class that implements the fills you want to perform on the local data
Use the DataService.localFill() API to perform all of the client application fills, turn off autoCommit.
When the client is online, call commit() to store client changes and call fill() to refresh the cached data.
This should give you some ideas on how you could go about constructing your app to leverage the offline features of Data Services.

  • Integration Oracle Utilities CC&B w/ non-Oracle bespoke Meter Data Management system

    Hello all,
In your opinion, what's the best way to integrate a bespoke (non-Oracle) Meter Data Management system with Oracle CC&B 2.3.1 or 2.4?
I came up with a few possible scenarios and would love to hear your opinion:
    1. Use CC&B Meter Read upload (MUP) batch process to upload reads from our bespoke Meter Data system.
    2. The bespoke Meter Data Management system adds Meter Reads to CC&B using a CC&B Inbound Service.
    3. At Billing time, CC&B invokes a Get Consumption Algorithm (invoked before the Bill Segment Creation Algorithm) which is responsible for requesting the reads from our bespoke Meter Data Management system.
This is the approach used by the Oracle CC&B-Oracle MDM integration when it comes to Usage requests/transactions.
    4. Any other idea? Feel free to share.

    Hi All,
would like to know the how Image manager and Data manager are connected........pls clarify
ex. If I upload an image thru Image manager........perform some actions on the image, will this image be available when I log in thru Data Manage? If yes, how can I see this thru data manager.
    pls explain.
    regards,
    VV

    Hi Venu,
Image manager is an Exclusive client to work with Images associated with master data within SAP-MDM.
Although you have the featute of uploading Images in MDM Console and working on them in the MDM Data manager client.
The number of enrichments you can do on the images and the extend to which you can develope the images are few.
So MDM has provided the MDM Image manager to work with Images in a more detailed fashion. For this you will have to install the Image Manager client separately and work with it.
It will be more useful when you are using the master data as a catalog item with images attached with them.
    Hope It Helped

  • Create key mapping using import manager for lookup table FROM EXCEL file

    hello,
i would like create key mapping while importing the values via excel file.
the source file containing the key, but how do i map it to the lookup table?
the properties of the table has enable the creation of mapping key. but during the mapping in import manager, i cant find any way to map the key mapping..
    eg
    lookup table contains:
    Material Group
    Code
    excel file contain
    MatGroup1  Code   System
    Thanks!
    Shanti

    Hi Shanti,
Assuming you have already defined below listed points
    1)  Key Mapping "Yes" to your lookup table in MDM Console
    2) Created a New Remote System in MDM console
    3) proper rights for your account for updating the remote key values in to data manager through import manager.
Your sample file can have Material Group and Code alone which can be exported from Data Manager by File-> Export To -> Excel, if you have  data already in Data Manager.
Open your sample file through Import Manager by selecting  the remote system for which you want to import the Key mapping.
(Do Not select MDM as Remote System, which do not allows you to maintain key mapping values) and also the file type as Excel
Now select your Soruce and Destination tables, under the destination fields you will be seeing a new field called [Remote Key]
Map you source and destination fields correspondingly and Clone your source field code by right clicking on code in the source hierarchy and map it to Remote Key if you want the code to be in the remote key values.
And in the matching criteria select destination field code as a Matching field and change the default import action to Update NULL fields or UPDATED MAPPED FIELDS as required,
After sucessfull import you can check the Remote Key values in Data Manager.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Creating a format file to map Incident records being imported from another tool in Service Manager.

Hello, we are trying to import some of our Incident records from BMC Remedy into Service Manager.  Our data architect is running into some difficulty finding the necessary information to create the format file (we plan to use the CSV import process).
Is there a comprehensive document that details out all of the properties available for Incidents, affected users, relationships, etc. in order to build the XML format file?  For example, System.WorkItem.Incident is the main type for Incidents.  Under
that, there is an 'Affected User' class.
Is anyone aware of this type of documentation for Service Manager?
    Thanks in advance,
    Brett

    Hi,
Affected user' is a relationship. System.User is a class. Your data architect has to investigate SCSM management packs to get the required info. Use this PowerShell command with standard SCSM poweshell console to get all management packs in pure XML. "c:\mp"
is a path that you could change.
    Get-SCSMManagementPack | Export-SCSMManagementPack -Path c:\mp
