  • Problems with matlab labview interface

I wrote a code to check the interface of Matlab and LabView. I am reading a matrix from a file and created two 1D subarrays using index array out of it. I am passing the subarray as input in the matlab script to calculate its length. With subarray 2 in the vi I am getting the result I expect. When I choose the subarray 1  as input to the Matab script, LabView crashes.
Is there any problem with my code?

There is no need to host files somewhere else.  Feel free to upload them to the forums and attach them to your post.
Minor comments first.  Why are you re-reading your config file every 2 seconds?  Do you expect it to change?  If not then read it once and don't read it again.
I think it would be best if you stopped when an error occured, you can do this by wiring an error to the Or going into the stop condition, or use the compound arithmatic with Or.
But I think the major issue you have is that your Arduino reference can be wipped out if you do things wrong.  If your equal comparision is false you go to the false case, where you aren't passing the arduino reference.  So when you go to close you won't close your reference, and your hardware will still be open, and trying to run again will result in an error.  Similarly if your for loop runs for 0 iterations your reference is lost.  Attached is an updated version which has some of these changes.

  • Labview Database Connection Toolkit and decimal point

    Hi,
on my system I use "," (comma) as decimal point.
In Labview Options I unflagged "Use localized decimal point", and numeric controls and indicators use "." (dot) as decimal point.
The problem is that Labview Database Connection Toolkit keeps returning floating point numbers as strings with comma as decimal point.
    Has anyone experienced this issue?
Is this related to Labview or MySQL ODBC Connector (that I'm using to connect to a mySQL DB)?
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Marco

You have two or three places to look. First there is the DCT. Second, there's a couple layers there that could cause problems (the mySQL drivers and ADO) and then there's even the posibility that the issue could be in the DBMS itself.
I would start by burrowing down through all the DCT layers and find the spot where the results are actually being read back fromt he database. If the resutls are read as variants and converted to LV datatypes, the problem is on the LV side. If the values are being read as strings and converted, the problem coiuld be on the other side.

  • No output from Simulink to LabVIEW with Simulation Interface Toolkit (0/1)

I'm able to send data from labview to simulink, but the labview
display doesn't show any output from the simulink model. I've attached
two very simple labview and simulink files which gives me this
problem. I have the same problem when trying to implement the sinewave
example in the manual for the toolkit as well.
I'm using LabVIEW 7.1 Pro, Matlab 6.5 and Simulink 5.0 on WinXP pro.

The Simulation Interface Toolkit 2.0.1 or earlier does not work with LabVIEW 7.1. There is a patch available (or available soon) from NI support that corrects this problem. THe patch is Simulation Interface Toolkit 2.0.2.

  • "problem installing LabVIEW Interface Generator"

    Hello,
I am running labview 7.1, windows xp sp2.
I am interested in trying out the new labview interface generator, but something seems to be going wrong on installation.
I download and run the executable, it unpackages a bunch of stuff pretty fast, then it starts unpackaging an "MDSPlus" package that takes a very long time (20 minutes). Then the MDSplus install wizard comes up, I press ok/next. Then another very long wait while it installs, then finally a message saying MDSplus installation complete, click close to exit which I do. Then that wizard goes away, as does the extracting zip dialog. No errors, everything seems fine.
But then when I open labview, there is no change: same old tools under tools/instrumentation. There is no "interface generator" on the list produced by add/remove programs (top level or under National Instruments). The only thing added is MDSplus.
Have attempted several times, rebooted, etc. Still no new tools.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi TR:
Thanks for your patience.   I think we (at NI) started barking up the wrong tree.  I went back to your original post and notice you said things like MDSplus, 20 minute install time, etc.   I'm wondering if this is something as simple as you are running the wrong installer.  The self-extracting archive file for the LabVIEW Interface Generator tool is named "driverctolv.exe".   Is this what you downloaded and are running?  If not, please go back to the web site:
    https://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nigb.guestbook?code=GB_INFOLVINSTDRIVER&lang=US&gb_prof_id=4982&scode=...
Fill in the info again, select "Continue" to get to the next page.  If you are running Internet Explorer, right-click on the "Download the utility for LabVIEW 7.1" link and select "Save Target As...".  You should see the filename at this point.  Verify that it indeed has the name listed above.   After download then run the extracting archive.  The installer should take no more than a minute or two to install (no where near 20 minutes) and the dialogs should not indicate MDSplus.
I did a few Google and other searches on MDSplus.  It seems that there are VI wrappers around MDSPlus libraries.  So, maybe you are also using this product separately?
If, for some reason, you are indeed launching the driverctolv.exe and somehow the MDSplus installer is being launched, we really need to take a totally different approach to problem solving.  But, maybe you can confirm before we go down that path.
    Again, thanks for your patience.

  • LabVIEW Interface for Arduino Toolkit

Check the VI Packege Network for Available Packages を開きました。
    開いた結果、表示されたのが次の画像です。
    この画面では、どうも問題がないような内容が表記されているように思えますが、
    OKを押すと、また最初の画面に戻ってしまいます。
     LabVIEW Tools Network

  • LabView database connectivity toolkit 1.0.1 compatibility with MS-ACCESS 2010 / Labview report generation toolkit for Office 1.1.3 compatibility with Office 2010

In the very near future we will be forced to upgrade to Office 2010 Company wide and I am a little concerned with some of our older test platforms that have applications built in LabView 8.2.1.  These applications save data to MS-ACCESS 2000 databases using the LabView database connectivity toolkit 1.0.1.  Office 2003 is also loaded on these test platforms with all test reports generated using the LabView report generation toolkit for Office 1.1.3.
I have not gotten my hands on a copy of Office 2010 yet to see if there will be any compatibility issues.  Does anyone have any experience in this area?

The MS-Access part is fairly well isolated through the ADO interface LabVIEW uses. The only possible problems there IMHO are difficulties with possible Acess compatibilities itself such as an example, SQL statement you may have invoked directly through the ADO interface. Maybe you did use a depreciated command back then that has since been removed. As long as the only thing you do are simple INSERT and SELECT statements only, I would expect it to just keep working.
The Report Generation interface is a different beast. Microsoft manages to change the Automation interface with every version of office in a way that strongly binding applications like LabVIEW break on. There is no good way around that except not changing those methods, but that is a cause that has been lost already. You will certainly have to verify the version dependant Report Generation API VIs to still work with Office 2010 and most likely you will have to make some changes to those VIs to make them work again with the modified ActiveX interface of Office 2010. Note, that I have no experience with porting report generation to Office 2010 but I have had some headaches from porting that between Office 97, 2000, 2003, and 2007.

  • Error with Simulation Toolkit

I have a control DC motor model in Matlab/Simulink. I control Ref value in model through the Labview. I used Labview Simulation Toolkit to do this. I created dll file from simulink model through Realtime Workshop and added it in Labview
    ( SIT connection manager )
    I attacked my files : test1.vi ; test2.vi and test_labview.mdl
My problem is : In test1.vi , I have a knob link to constant box in simulink model and indicator scope link to scope box in simulink model.  When I run Labview and change knob value , it acts normally and the respond of simulink model is correct
But when I used test2.vi, I change knob value by changing knob2 value . In this situation , I try to use local variable and value node but It is not succesfull. The respond of simulink is incorrect . The knob value  is not link with  simulink model. Please help me. I want to change knob value through knob2 value and link to model.
I used Labview 8.6 and Labview Simulation Toolkit 5.0

First of all the SIT was not really meant to be used with HW on Windows because it is not deterministic. That being said, it could be a slight hassle to add hardware support to the SIT client VI.
The value change event does only get fired if the user changes the value on the UI by clicking the increment/decrement button and/or by typing a new value or if the property 'VALUE (Signaling)' is used. Since the source of the value update in your case is not a user input but the input value of a DAQ board, you have to use the ladder mentioned option.

  • How do I put data into a template using the Labview report generation toolkit for Microsoft Office?

I am running Lookout 5.0 and have recently purchased the Labview Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office to create reports from my Lookout logged data. Since I have never used Labview I am having my problems. I tried following the tutorials but they do not seem to be examples of what I want to do.
I log rainfall totals (1 spreadsheet)in Lookout from 40 different sites in 5 minute increments. I copy these totals and paste them into another spreadsheet which sums them up to give me hourly totals and then paste those totals into a spreadsheet for distribution.
In Labview I create a new report and use the distribution sheet as my template, but how do I complete
the steps of loading the raw 5 minute data into labview and then paste it into the hourly total spreadsheet and then transfer those totals into the distribution template?
I have been trying to figure this out for over a week, and I am getting nowhere.
    Any response would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jason P
    Jason Phillips

Lookout saves the files in .csv form which can be opened in Excel. I did make some progress by using the "append table to report" vi which allowed me to put values into an array and then those values were entered into my template on my report vi.
Where I am stuck now is I want to be able to put values into my template from a .csv file, not from an array I have to manually put numbers in.
Once those values are in my template I want to pull summed values from the template and place them into a final excel file for printing.
I have attached examples of the files I am working with to help you better understand what I am trying to do.
    I hope that makes sense.

  • Adaptation of LIFA (LabVIEW Interface For Arduino) to other Arduino compatible boards

    Hello evryone,
I am trying to use a ''Sakura board", which is an Arduino compatible board, having similar programming as Arduino. This board is manufactured by Renesas; more specifications on it can be found on the following link: http://sakuraboard.net/gr-sakura_en.html
What I would like to know, is if the firmware used for LIFA to interface Arduino with labview, or the ChipKit firmaware, can be used to this kind of Arduino compatible boards.
My aim, is to use the Sakura Board for acquiring signals from various pins(Be it digital or analog), and setting other pins (Digital) parralelly, using labVIEW, as this is done using LIFA, or LabVIEW interface for ChiKit!!
Thanks in advance for your support.

I haven't had any experience with the Sakura board, so can only go on the information on the website.
I've used the Arduino LabVIEW interface previously, and it basically uses serial communications between the PC and the Arduino. This serial interface is provided by the on-board USB-serial converter (an ATMega8u2 running custom firmware).
From what I can tell about the Sakura, it appears as a storage device when plugging into a PC, and doesn't seem to have a USB to serial converter. If this is the case, then the LIFA toolkit won't work. That said, my understanding of the Sakura board may be incorrect (for example I'm unsure what operation modes the slide switch changes between). If you can confirm it has a USB-serial port then LIFA may work. I guess the key thing is that the serial port is required.
You may be able to use a software serial port (http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/SoftwareSerial) on the Sakura to communicate with a PC, though that would require a PC with a serial port, or an external USB-serial converter. This approach would also require you to modify the LIFA arduino code (located in vi.lib\LabVIEW Interface for Arduino\Firmware\LIFA_Base) to reference the software serial port. It's probably a long shot that this will work, as the software serial library has been written for AVR chips, making use of their specific internal timers.

  • How to update data to excel in runtime with LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit

    hi,All
i am using LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit, and a newer.i want to insert the data in excel for every loop.
so at first, need to creat a excel file(xxx).and when every loop end,the test data can be insert into the file(xxx).when the test finished, the file will be saved.
i have seen the examples in LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit, all of them need to creat a new file.i need update the data in the same file.
can you give me some advances for that?
my labview's version is 8.5 and LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit's version is 1.1.0.
         thanks a lot.

    Hi cat099,
One question, why don't you store data of each loop, say in shift register and update all data in excel  at once when your test is finished.
It will be easy. Or else, if you want to build same functionality as you mentioned, then you can build your own vi to write in excel. No need to use report generation toolkit.
    See attached example.

  • I would like to create a pop-up window appear from Labview Interface. In this window, I will have a slide control and an image taken from a camera. The main VI have to run while pop-up window is open. How can I do ?

When I pushed a button, this pop-up window has to appear. There will be a slide control and a picture from a camera in this window. Is it possible to make appear this windows while main VI Interface continue to run ? How can I do this ? Thank you for your answers.
    Cyril.

Here you go. This is simple example. Maybe not the best way, I am just
beginner in LV and still not comfortable with data flow that much. I prefer
events, so I would change this to use Event Structures.
When you click on OK button on SliderMain, it opens Slider.vi. Now both
windows are open and you can interact with both. Now if you click on OK
again with Slider.vi open, you run into problems. Only thing I did was
change VI properties of slider.vi, mainly window appearance.
