Problem in populating 2nd combo box depending upon the selection of 1st

Hi all,
I have 2 combo boxes on my jsp page ,say continent and country . obviously the data in 2nd box is dependant on selection made in the 1st . I'm using MySQL with tomcat 5.0.7 . and JSP.
The first combo box in one form and the 2nd in another. After submitting first i 'm populating the second combo also.
But the problem is after submitting the first form the page gets refreshing and i can't see the selected continent in the first combo box.
The javascript code used follows:

that's what i'm also doing and i'm successfull till populating the second combo box but how do I keep the previous inputs on the page and reload the page based on the change of a selection box?

Problem pre-populating a combo box

Hello,
I am having problems pre-populating a combo box from a process.
This combo box field exists in the OIM User Form and in another process form.
Both combo box fields are populated from the same Lookup Definition: Lookup.Jazztel.TipoDeDocumento which looks like this:
Code Key Decode
1      DNI (NIF)
2     Pasaporte
4     Visado
6     Nº Identificación de Extranjero
9     C.I.F.
I've tried these methods to pre-populate the combo box:
* Using an adapter with a SET VARIABLE Logic Task (this adapter returns the code key that is selected in the OIM User form).
* Using an adapter that returns the decode field from the code key and pass it to the Process combo box.
In these cases, the process form combo box is not pre-populated correctly. It always shows C.I.F.
I tried modifying the combo box in the following way:
Code Key Decode
DNI (NIF)      DNI (NIF)
Pasaporte      Pasaporte
Visado     Visado
Nº Identificación de Extranjero Nº Identificación de Extranjero
C.I.F. C.I.F.
and it get pre-populated correctly.
I need the code keys to be numbers. Does anyone know how can a combo like this be pre-populated?
Moreover and curiously, the process form combo box appears ordered alphabetically (according to the decode fields):

Fill a combo box based on the selection of another combo box

Hi All,
I am new to jsp & java script. I have a arraylist of communities and there are 2 combo boxes meant for source community & destination community.
First user will select Source community , after that I've to remove that community from list and display the option for destination community combo box.
Here the problem is I am getting the source community value in a java script function - "checkSource() " which I've written at the "onClick" of source community.
Now java script variable has that community & list of community is a java variable, so I am not able to remove that community from java list.
Please suggest in the same.
I've written like this -

Do it with AJAX. Here -> http://www.iem.pw.edu.pl/~opalam/sample/TestAJAX.zip You can download a small, sample project that presents AJAX.
In the project Servlet, Gson and Jquery is used. When onchange is fired in the first select box a js script method is invoked. This method uses ajax to get the json (gson is used to transfer java objects to json) data from the servlet depending on the value of selected option. When data are obtained the second select box is populated. Of course it might be written better but the general idea is clearly visible which was my goal. Hope this helps.

How to populate the second combo box by depending on the selection in 1st?

I have two combo boxes, both of data in the lists come from the database. The list in the second will be changed when the selection is changed in the first one. I am trying to do query again in the ActionPerform function, unfortunately the list in second one doesn't change.

Dynamically change the contents of one combo box based on the other

Hi Forum,
I have a question which might have a possibly simple answer. Well anyway help me out since i could not find the simple answer.
I am building an application using Swing and binding with BC4J using JClient. My GUI has combo boxes, grids, editboxes. My requirement is that i should be able to dynamically change the contents of one combo box based on the selected item in trhe previous combo box. For example, when i choose a country in the "country combo box", the "states combo box" should show the list of the states of the selected country.
Now how do i do this using binding. If not, how do i write custom querirs in BC4J layer and return a resultset to the remote application so theat i can populate the dependent combo boxes.
I will appreciate if anyone can help me out in this regard.

there could be quite a few number of ways of solving this problem.
One way is through event handlers.
taking your example as a model when user selects a country you could fire an action with a flag set to ture. A method will return the states from the DB or your temporary files or what ever and then the true flag will be used in the states combo box rendering.
other way: javascript
this might be a bit clumsy as you will need the states information in a property file and you can get the info as the user selects a country.

Can we hide column in a query depending upon the variable selected

Hi all,
let us say my report have 10 column.
now i am giving user option to select the values (let us say 'a' or 'b')
columns must be displayed depending upon the value selected by user ..
for example if user has selected 'a' then first five columns should be displayed..and if user has selected 'b' last five column should be displayed..(it will be OK even if we can hide the columns depending upon the selection )
Is it possible in BEx...please let me know

I did it sometime back. A bit complicated process.
Create an infoobject, manually enter the values "keyfig1" and "keyfig2".
Include this infoobject in the filters and restrict it using a "ready for input" variable.
Now create two formula variables.
Write a customer exit such that when you select "keyfig1", first formula variable's value should be set to 1 and other one's to 0.
Then in the query create two calculated key figures, multiply both with the formula variable. Also supress column (all active value == 0).
Then it will show the key figure which you have selected.

How can I make the combo box turn to the value of black.

When the show button is pressed (and not before), a filled black square should be
displayed in the display area. The combo box (or drop down list) that enables the user to choose the colour of
the displayed shape and the altering should take effect immediately.When the show button is pressed,
the image should immediately revert to the black square, the combo box should show the value that
correspond to the black.
Now ,the problem is: after I pressed show button, the image is reverted to the black square,but I don't know
how can I make the combo box turn to the value of black.

In the above report first column and the last columns are fixed and the other columns are dynamic depending upon the input selection:
if input selection is Normal and RDO then only 2 columns w'd be created and the other 2 fixed columns.
Can anybody help me how do I design such report....

According to your description that you want to dynamically increase and decrease the numbers of the columns in the table, right?
As Jason A Long mentioned that we can use the matrix to do this and put the year field in the column group, amount fields(Numric values) in the details, add an filter to filter the data base on this column group, but if
the data in the DB not suitable to add to the matrix directly, you can use the unpivot function to turn the column name of year to a single row and then you can add it in the column group.
If there are too many columns in the column group, it will fit the page size automatically and display the extra columns in the next page.

Hide Advance table Depending upon the value of dropDown

Hi,
I have 2 advance tables. 1st one has a DropDown. Depending upon the value of the dropdown in 1st advance table, the second advanced table should get rendered.
I tried by getting the value of the dropdown by addingg a PPF and iterating trough the table and I got the value. But when I redirect to the same page, all the selection and other values in 1st advanced table vanish out.
Can someone help me getting the 2nd table hidden and at the same time retaining the values for the 1st advanced table.

Shading part of a JTable Cell dependent upon the value of the cell

Was hoping some one woudl be able to provide some help with this. I'm trying to create a renderer that will "shade" part of a JTable cell's background depending upon the value in the cell as a percentage (E.g. if the cell contains 0.25 then a quarter of the cell background will be shaded)
What I've got so far is a renderer which will draw a rectangle whose width is the relevant percentage of the cell's width. (i.e. the width of the column) based on something similar I found in the forum but the part I'm struggling with is getting it to draw this rectangle in any cell other than the first cell. I've tried using .getCellRect(...) to get the x and y position of the cell to draw the rectangle but I still can't make it work.
The code for my renderer as it stands is:

I have to find the cat_guid depending upon the guid which is in crmd_orderadm_h table to retrive the fields categeorization module/element/type maintained in the service ticket.
Please tell me from which table we can get cat_guid depending upon the guid of perticular trouble ticket.

Pass the GUID (CRMD_ORDERADM_H) to Function Module CRM_ORDER_READ to retrieve the required values.

How to change the image dynamically depend upon the input parameter

Hi All
I have one report running depend upon the Organization specific, I have 15 operating unit and 15 different logo for each operating unit.
How to change the Logo dynamically depend upon the input passed by the user.
If I have three or four logo i can add in my layout using if else statement and its works fine but i have more that 10 logos so its no possible to keep these in My RTF Template.
Is it possible to change the logo according to the input without keeping this in Template.
I have seen this link but its not working fine

Without having the logo in RTF if it possible to bring the logo depends on the user input (Ie Operating unit).
