Problem in Populating a new record

Dear Friends,
I have raised the same question and i didnt get exact solution, here is my question.
My problem is There is a application for the Head count. consider HCM, in which i store the Headcount number, salary, and the cost(Headcount number*salary). I planned to use the same ID in the application but a property 'GROUP' value is different while maintaining the above case. like while i entering the Head count details  i will select 'HDCNT' in GROUP and 'SAL' while entering the salary details. Now where i got strucked is while calculating the Cost am using the below script to post the entry for the same account(ID) but am not able to select the different property. And also am not able to find the syntax to pass values dynamically to the when, like the account in the when has to change for the different records i.e., user may enter the value for Manager, CEO in this case my below statement should work.
Now i have written for the manager which shouldn't be there instead should work for all.
*When P_ACCT
*IS
REC(EXPRESSION=%VALUE%[P_ACCT].[%VALUE%],P_ACCT="VALUE")
*ENDWHEN
*COMMIT
the above statement "*[P_ACCT].[%VALUE%" i need to represent my property GROUP to select the correct value like P_ACCT.GROUP.%VALUE% .
Thanks
Prem

Nilanjan,
That forum is also for the NW version only... and i felt it was not clearely explained abt the problem i have raised tis early...
Now i can put the same answer wat u told today mng...
Thanks

  • Problem in populating the new field from the extract structure. Kindly help

    my requirement a new text field is added on R/3 side and I have to populate
    the same field into BW.
    In the R/3 a new customization table 'AAA' is created which will have
    code - char 3 and
    text - char 30.
    The code field is added to a table BBB.
    The SAP standard generic data source exracts data from the table BBB where in the new code field have been added.
    Now I can the see the code field in the extract structure and not in the data source as the filed has selection value 'A' when checked in the ROOSFIELD table.
    To populate the value in BW, I will be creating a Generic Master Data text wherein I fetch the values from the table 'AAA' which the fields code and text  and replicate the same in BW.
    In the reporting level, the code InfoObject will be selected as display both KEY and TeXT, by doing I can populate the values of TEXT in the reporting.
    But to achieve the same I need to add the field code in the ODS but cannot do the same because I am not able to see the field code in the data source.
    Kindly let me know how to achieve the same.
    Also let me know if there is any alternate solution to populate the text field in BW.
    Any Inputs will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi all,
    i have created tables (non BO Tables) directly on the SQL-server and want to use recordset to populate a user form matrix.
    Is there any workaround to achieve this using non BO tables?
    Please provide some sample code since it is a very urgent matter.

  • How to stop new record creation when mouse click

    Hi,
    I am working with Oracle Forms 6i.
    I have a multi record block. I have provided a 'New' button that the user should click when a new record creation is required. This is because there is some other function that needs to be performed when the new record is created. Specifically, on clicking the new button, the program populates the field with values read from another table. This works fine.
    However, I realized, that if the user clicks on the mutli-record block just below the last record, a new record gets created. This action does not cause the logic behind the 'New' button to execute and the record is created in a manner that is not acceptable.
    First question is why does the new record get created only by clicking with the mouse with the pointer below the last record? Is there a way to stop this from happening?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Shailesh

    Hi Andreas,
    Probably I was not able to explaing my problem.
    I have a button that creates a new record when clicked. The button's trigger has the CREATE_RECORD statement.
    When a new record is created, I need to copy values from the record above it. I have therefore used DUPLICATE_RECORD in my block's WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE trigger.
    I cannot use DUPLICATE-RECORD in WHEN-CREATE-RECORD trigger.
    So, I am not clear about what you are suggesting.
    My problem is that a new record gets created when click with my mouse pointer below the last record in the multi-record block. Why does that happen and how to prevent it?
    Thanks

  • Problem with a primary key when creating a new record in Forms

    My table has a field - MDD_KEY - that is a primary key. It is updated from a sequence with a before-insert database trigger. I know this works properly as the primary key was accurately populated when I inserted 1433 records.
    In Forms 6, I have a form based on that table. I have set the mdd_key as a hidden field because I assume it will be entered by the before-insert trigger. However, when I enter data into the table, and then try to save it, I get a FRM-40202: Field must be entered. - followed by - FRM-40222: Disabled item MDD_KEY failed validation.
    If I set DATA Required to no, when I try to save I get an FRM-40600: Record has already been inserted - but no such record exists in the database. I know this record is unique and does NOT exist because I deliberately made it up.
    In the property palatte, the attributes of the field are:
    DATA Data Type Number
    Required Yes
    DATABASE Database Item Yes
    Primary Key Yes
    Query Only No
    Query Allowed Yes
    Query Length 0
    Insert Allowed Yes
    Update Allowed Yes
    Update Only if Null No
    Lock Record No
    I assume that my problem is that with a new record, the form wants to see the MDD_KEY populated before it saves - but that isn't going to happen until the before insert trigger fires in the database. I assume I have to populate that field within forms, but how do I do that without messing up the database trigger/sequence? I will have to load more data directly into the database - so I need the database trigger in place.
    I have not used primary keys before so I am more than a little bit confused about how and when it should be populated when a new record is created in Forms.
    Any help would be appreciated as I cannot enter new data into my form (works well with existing data).
    Thanks
    Glenn

    hi
    if u have any problem using seq then try that statemetn ur block level in ur form
    PRE-INSERT trigger

  • Problem with inserting new records in Oracle Forms

    Hi Friends,
    I am a new user to Oracle Forms and I need a help from you people. The problem is as follows:
    I have a data block in which I can display a number of records. In this data block the user will be able to edit the fields if no child records are found in another table. I have used when-new-record-instance to attain this scenario. All are text items. One item licensee_id which is made invisible by setting the property in property palette and required=no ( as this is the primary key of the table). Also the audit columns are made invisible.
    The code for it is as follows:
    DECLARE
         v_alert_button NUMBER;
         v_cnt                          NUMBER;
    BEGIN
         SELECT COUNT (*)
    INTO v_cnt
    FROM id_rev_contracts
    WHERE licensee_id = :ID_REV_LICENSEES.licensee_id;
    IF v_cnt > 0 THEN
    set_item_property('ID_REV_LICENSEES.LICENSEE_NAME', UPDATE_ALLOWED, PROPERTY_FALSE);
    ELSE
         set_item_property('ID_REV_LICENSEES.LICENSEE_NAME', UPDATE_ALLOWED, PROPERTY_TRUE);
         -- set_item_property('ID_REV_LICENSEES.LICENSEE_NAME', INSERT_ALLOWED, PROPERTY_TRUE);
    END IF;
    END;
    Now in this data block I should also be able to insert new records and for the same I have used PRE-INSERT trigger and the code for it is as follows:
    DECLARE
         v_alert_button NUMBER;
    CURSOR v_licensee_id IS SELECT id_rev_licensees_s.NEXTVAL FROM dual;
    BEGIN
    OPEN v_licensee_id;
    FETCH v_licensee_id INTO :id_rev_licensees.licensee_id;
    CLOSE v_licensee_id;
    IF :id_rev_licensees.licensee_id IS NULL THEN
    Message('Error Generating Next v_licensee_id');
    RAISE Form_Trigger_Failure;
    END IF;
    :ID_REV_LICENSEES.created_by := :GLOBAL.g_login_name;
    :ID_REV_LICENSEES.last_updated_by := :GLOBAL.g_login_name;
    :ID_REV_LICENSEES.create_date := SYSDATE;
    :ID_REV_LICENSEES.last_update_date := SYSDATE;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN form_trigger_failure
    THEN
    RAISE form_trigger_failure;
    WHEN OTHERS
    THEN
    v_alert_button :=
    msgbox ('ERROR in Pre-Insert - ' || SQLERRM, 'STOP', 'Contact IST');
    RAISE form_trigger_failure;
    END;
    Every thing is compiling fine but at the run time when I am trying to insert a new record I am receiving the following error:
    FRM-40508:ORACLE error:unable to insert record
    I also think the pre-insert record is not firing at the time of inserting a new record and saving it. So I request you to please delve into this problem and suggest me how to overcome this problem. Code snippets would do more help for me. If you need any other things from me please let me know. I will see if I could be of any help in that concern because I may not be able to send the entire form as it is.
    Thanks and regards,
    Vamsi K Gummadi.

    first of all
    pre-insert fires after the implicit/explicit commit/commit_form is issued and before the real insert is submitted to the db.
    i would suggest to remove the error handling part for the moment
    because i believe you might be getting "ora-xxxx cannot insert null"
    and also make visible the primary column to check if the pre-insert is executed.
    it would be better to make visible for a while the not null columns of the table/block
    i suppose that the block is insert allowed and you are using table as the source of the block and not any procedures or something...

  • Problem when updating af:table with new records

    Hi,
    I have a page that shows two tables from the same DB table but with different VOs.
    Table1 displays records where date_column is within the current month, table2 displays all records.
    The problem is that when I add new record and return to the page, I find out that the new record has been added to both tables, it’s shown in table1 even though its date is not within this month.
    When I run the page again the problem is solved and everything is in the right place !!
    How can I fix this?

    Hi,
    you will have to re-query the iterators because you add the new row to a VO - which is an iterator - that wont filter your input (instead you add to a filtered iterator). However, its strange that both tables show that value because if these are different VO they should be independent. Only if they are instances of the same VO tehy are expected to show the same data

  • Problem call forms from a form in 'create' mode of a new records

    Hello,
    I'll try to explain myself well, i have one form and now i am in 'create' mode , no value exist meanwhile in the primary key of the table behind, the problem is that in the same form i have some buttons that calls another form in wich i must provide the value of the primary key, let's think of an example of cities & streets tables.
    If i'll be in the form of cities in 'create a new record' mode, i can't let the end-user click on the button for the streets of that 'new' city becouse of the non-existing yet for the primary key of cities. I know how to 'dissapear' the button of streets in this create new record mode but i am not convinced that this is the best way to do it.
    I'll be glad to hear about some sollutions for that kind of problem, i am sure that i am not the only one who must think of this kind of problem.
    Best regards,
    Victor

    Hiding the button is straightforward. You simply need to add a condition on to the button to ensure that the primary key value is not null.
    The way how I've acheived master/detail data entry pages before has been a bit hacky, so I'll wait for someone else to come along with the 'right' way to do it!

  • Portal calendar - new record link problem

    We have a problem with calendars (Portal 9.0.2).
    We have:
    A form to enter/edit records in a table.
    A link to this form.
    A calendar based on the table in question.
    If I try to connect the calendar to this form (for entering new records) I set it up in the calendar definition in the "Empty Date Link" field. I then click the pencil because I want to send a parameter from the calendar query along. This parameter window will ONLY accept static values or "TODAY" in the column list box.
    Why can't I add my own columns in the column list box and send these values as parameters ?
    TIA

    Hi,
    You cannot add your own parameters but you can definitely pass the values for all the fields in the form.

  • New Record in Database problems

    Hi All:
    I am new to Appleworks, I have been building a Database and everything was working fine, but suddenly everytime I try to enter a New Record instead of giving me Blank Field it repeats a record I have entered before, and I can't seem to get a clean new record. I am sure I am not duplicating it. I am typing Command R
    Thanks a lot
    Alex Neuman

    Hi,
    As much as I use and appreciate Apple hardware and software products, I must say that the Database section of AppleWorks is flaky and needs work. I suspect this will never happen given that iWorks is now Apple's front-runner. As far as I know iWorks doesn't have a db module anyway. I use Appleworks (db) in my work as music contractor as well as for invoicing and other routine applications. Until recently everything was fine. Then I built a db that had a whole lot more fields and formulae and was designed to account for just about any variable that might crop up when paying an orchestra. It was very frustrating. The problem arose when trying to delete fields. I finally came up with a workable db but it's bloated since it contains many unused fields that have been converted to "text" fields. They simply can't be deleted or AW crashes.
    It's important to me to have a different db for each job I'm handling due to confidentiality, so it's imperative that I be able to open an existing db, delete all records, save under a new name, and then proceed to customize the new db to suit the needs of the new job. Appleworks hasn't been up to the task. I've mentioned this before on this forum.
    Enter Filemaker Pro. There's a demo available. It's a much more fully implemented db front end: multiple tables per file, easy (and very familiar to AW users) to use interface, and perhaps best of all, great options for importing and exporting data.
    That's where I'm spending my next few bucks.

  • Jclient - Jtree problem inserting new records

    I reviewed the component example of using a jtree and for display only it works fine but doesn't include any code to add new records. our example uses a polymorphic table called "levels", as:
    level1
    __| level2
    _____| level3
    inserting a record to the level1 vo works and redisplays in the jtree fine but inserts to level2 or level3 creates
    display issues and other tree issues. The data is recorded correctly and the tree displays correctly if you close the app and rerun it.
    We also attempted to correct this by setting
    vo.setAssociationConsistent(true) in each of the level table vos. this did not help.
    Is this a bug ? Can someone provide some example code if required to get this to display and insert correctly.

    Robert,
    I can't tell if the problem is a bug and it would require code reviews and test cases to be specific on that.
    I suggest contacting customer support with this issue so the problem gets documented, addressed and solved.

  • Form does not show "new" records from SQL Database

    I have a PDF form that pulls data from a SQL Server.  The fields in
    the PDF are populated from the database after selecting a specific
    record from a drop down and then clicking on a button labeled "Fill".
    The problem is that the dropdown does not display new records that

  • HCM PF: Create multiple new records while displaying old ones

    Hiya (cross-posted to OSS & SDN),
    I'm having some difficulties when trying to create new records to IT0014 while displaying old records at the same time, hope you can help me. The problem in brief is that existing records are removed from display when I create new ones and click on check.
    My setup is as follows:
    - SAP ERP 6.0 EhP4 SP29
    - one form scenario with the following fields set up for backend service SAP_PA (two consecutive calls, first for I0014_xxxxx and the second for fields I0014_xxxxx_NEW):
    o I0014_BEGDA Validity begin date 5 SAP_PA: Value for Effective Date Create 0014 * HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0014 BEGDA * PAD_BEGDA
    o I0014_BETRG Amount 5 SAP_PA: Value for Effective Date Create 0014 * HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0014 BETRG * PAD_AMT7S
    o I0014_ENDDA End date 5 SAP_PA: Value for Effective Date Create 0014 * HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0014 ENDDA * PAD_ENDDA
    o I0014_LGART Wage Type 5 SAP_PA: Value for Effective Date Create 0014 * HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0014 LGART * LGART
    o I0014_LGTXT Wage Type Text 5 SAP_PA: Value for Effective Date Create 0014 * HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0014 LGTXT * LGTXT
    o I0014_WAERS Currency Manual Default Value: EUR Create 0014 * HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0014 WAERS * WAERS
    o I0014_BEGDA_NEW Validity begin date Create 0014 * HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0014 BEGDA * PAD_BEGDA
    o I0014_BETRG_NEW New Amount Create 0014 * HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0014 BETRG * PAD_AMT7S

    - the PDF layout has two table controls: one for displaying the old values (I0014_xxxxx) and one for displaying the new entries to be created (customer requirement to display the tables side by side)
    - old values are displayed all right and they get populated without any problems
    The problem is that when I try to create a new entry with fields I0014_xxxxx_NEW, the first table entry in fields I0014_xxxxx is cleared out. This same problem currently occurs also with other table type entries (I0027, I0008).
    I've looked very closely at note 1043692 and it states the following in its limitations:
    - limitation 4:
    a change to the field LGART is not allowed
    => I'm not doing a change, trying to create
    - limitation 6:
    Two front end fields mapped to the same backend (infotype) field cannot be used in the same table, though you have configured different default values and made one field as operation exclusive. The reason being that the field marked as Op-Exclusive will not be operated upon and there will be inconsistencies in the number of table lines generated.
    => could this be the reason for my problem?
    I have also given a shot at creating a generic service for the job, but as the same note suggests it didn't work (testing the process timeouts if I return fields with multiple field values with separate indexes and subtypes).
    Have you had any experiences with table controls showing both past and to-be values? Does the framework even support this kind of a requirement?
    Best regards,
    Mikko

    Hi Aravind,
    appreciate your input.
    Not sure however if I followed you completely. When you wrote "values that needed to be displayed are made as optional" did you mean optional = operation-exclusive or optional = disabled with the help of a rule?
    Did you btw do this especially with subtype * and index * relevant infotypes? I tried your approach and upon initialization everything looks good (I didn't have the generic service in between SAP_PA:s because gs:s won't work in case of subtype * infotypes at least according to OSS and my initial tests), both the display and edit elements are populated all right.
    However when I create a new entry into the new fields, their sort order is messed up upon check & send - the last entry suddenly becomes the first and check & sending for the second time I get errors about LGART and SUBTYpe not being the same (which is natural and according to the OSS note I referred to previously).
    If you have been working with subty * related multiple fields, can you elaborate more on your solution?
    Best regards,
    Mikko

  • How to populate automatically in a when-new-record-instance trigger?

    I have a form which displays around ten rows with about 5 columns. Whenever i will create a new record, i would like to place an initial value on the first column of every record. How do I do this? If I place the value in the properties of the item, it would be replicated on all the rows. What I want is to put a different value for each row created. But the problem is there is only one item property that i can put a value on (displayed 10 times). How do i put different initial values for each record created without creating new items for each record. is this possible? Thanks a lot

    Hi Navnit,
    Yes you are right, but it can work even we not plase quotation mark in it. But Yes I forget to place semi colon so now it is
    IF :System.Cursor_Record = 1 THEN
       :Block.Col1 := '02:00';
    ElsIF :System.Cursor_Record = 2 THEN
       :Block.Col1 := '07:00';

    This code i used with Ruby on Rail to connect with MySQL.
    When i used with FireFox browse after i create new user
    success it refresh the new record in Datagrid. But for the Internet
    Explorer Datagrid not refresh it because of it display the old
    recode before create.
    So i don't know it problem by Internet Explorer or my script.
    i hope someone can help me the solve this problem.
    thanks

    If you restrict the selection, a record value outside of that selection is not acceptable and will give you this error. This is how BPS works.
    You need to restrict on some other char so BASIC1 doesn't come in, but this value should be part of any selection on ZSEGMENT field for it to be accepted back.

  • New Records in database do not show up in resultset

    Hi,
    I have seen very little on this but I have a MS Access database that I have records in. If I change one of those records, I see the change in the resultset which I am just printing out for now using System.out.println . So I add new records manually to the database just so I am some records to test with and those records do not show up in the resultset. After doing something (not exactly sure what as I did a lot), I happen to go back and then saw the new records. So I add some more and could not see those records. I AM closing my resultsets, connections, etc. I read something where someone had the same problem and thought something was being cached which seemed reasonable to me. So I tried rebooting for the heck of it and I still see only the previous records and not the new ones.
    Any ideas,
    Thanks,
    Karl

    Hi Karl,
    There are problems some times like the one you mentioned when you are using both manual and programatic inserts/updates/deletes.
    When ever u face any such problems look out for following :
    Check if all ResultSet, Statement and Connection objects are closed before exiting the code. That is normal exit and abnormal exit (due to any error/exception).
    After manual insertion save and close target table.
    If the problem still exists then try re-compiling your code after closing the your Access (*.mdb) database.
    I hope this will work for you.

    Humayun
