Problem installing weblogic 6.0 on Redhat 7.1

When trying to begin the install proccess of 'WebLogic Server 6.0 with Service Pack 2 For Redhat 7.1sh filename.bin I get the following:"Preparing to install...The included VM could not be unarchived(tar). Please try to downloadthe installer again and make sure that you download using 'binary' mode. Please do not attempt to install this currently downloaded copy."I've allocated an alternate directory for use as a temporary directorywith export IATEMPDIR=tmpdirnameThis dir has over 26 gigs.Note the group name is below 8 charsDoes anyone have a solution to this? ThanksJubran

Found it. Same problem as on Oracle 8.1.7 on RedHat 7.1.
1. Install the compat* RPMs from the RedHat 7.1 CD1 and CD2. These RPMs
allow compatibility with RedHat 6.2.
2. Put the following two statements in your environment prior to running
the install.
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
. /usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386-glibc21-linux-env.sh
These two statements will allow you to run your shell in a 6.2 compatibility
mode, for glibc 2.1.3 instead of the new glibc 2.2.2 libs.
It sounds to me like Sun needs to update the JDKs to support the new glibc
and the 2.4 kernel. I'm not sure this is even BEA's problem?

I installed jdk 1.3.1 from java.sun.com on a RedHat 7.1 O/S.
Originally, I was not pointing to the JDK correctly. I fixed the PATH,
CLASSPATH, JAVA_HOME, JAVA_PATH to point to the jdk1.3.1 dir.
Then I got an error saying that cut could not be found in /usr/bin, so I
ln -s /bin/cut cut in the /usr/bin directory.
I ran the install script a 3rd time and I'm seeing a [<defunct>] for myJava
VM in a ps -aef entry, which is in the process list along with the WLS 6.0
SP1 install bin file. I will try it one more time, but it's not looking
good.

You need to install the JDK 1.3.1 to have wls 6.0 working.
The JDK could be found at the developpers zone at javasoft.

    Hi,
    first of all, unfortunately, WebLogic Server is not supported under Mandrivia (use the right name ;-) ), so you should use Novell Suse or Redhat AS, check this list
    Anyway, error code 11 should be related to permission issues, so you should check that the user you are using is allowed to write under the installation directory and under /var/log/
    Could you kindly post the log messages?

  • Problem installing weblogic server 8.11

    I have a problem while installing weblogic server 8.11 on a solaris 9 machine.
    I use the following instruction: ./filename.bin and I see the following message:
    Illegal instruction (memory dumped)
    (in french: instruction incorrecte (vidage memoire))
    A core file is generated but it doesn't help resolving this problem. It seems
    to be talking about unzip, as I found things like this message in this file:
    error: cannot allocate unzip buffers
    unzipsfx: cannot find myself! [%s]
    error [%s]: missing %ld bytes in zipfile
    I also tryed to install weblogic server 8.10 and no core file is generated but

    Well, perhaps one thing you've forgotten is that it's better to write notes
    about particular problems in the newsgroup or mailing list that is most
    appropriate to the problem. If people who read this newsgroup only know about
    the webserver, then they won't have any idea how to help you with installation
    problems with WebLogic server, which this clearly is (the "webserver" is not
    "WebLogic Server", but only part of the entire package).
    Have you made an attempt to contact BEA support? It seems likely that your zip
    file is corrupt.

  • Problem installing Oracle 9.2 on RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0

    Hi everyone,
    As the subject line says, I tried installing Oracle 9.2 on
    RedHat Linux 7.1 and 9.0, strictly following instructions
    written by Werner Puschitz
    (http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml). Both
    attempts failed with identical symptoms:
    - the installer asks for Disk 2
    - after the disk is inserted, it hangs. It turns out that
    kernel is writing messages similar to these in
    /var/log/messages:
    Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: 16:00: rw=0, want=317696, limit=149920
    Jun 16 02:45:19 boston kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
    Unless interrupted, this continues until the /tmp filesystem gets full.
    Has anyone experienced this? I haven't been able to find
    an explanation so far.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Ljubomir Buturovic

    Providing a thread-bare configuration of your machine on which you are trying to install Oracle on Linux (and mind you - which kernel/distro, coz that's important) would definitely help you elicit more responses to your messages.

    Hello Carlos,
    Try using the http download option instead of the .net download. This will ensure
    that you have the executable on your machine instead of a constant connection
    through the internet.
    Delete whatever installation files you currently have and download the server

  • Problem installing weblogic jdriver for oracle

    Hi ,
    I have installed WLS510 and Oracle8i Personal Edition on windows98. I have
    put the c:\weblogic\bin\oci815_8 directory in the system path and

    Could anyone please tell me what java.library.path is and where should I

    Thanks
    Vishwajeet Lohakarey

    java.library.path is Java System variable for seting directories where will java look out for native library modules (DLLs on NT). It is normally unset because DLLs are serached by standard NT algorithm (PATH variable, System dir) too.
    weblogicoci36 is native module name of WL JDBC driver for Oracle that Java&NT couldn't find. Coresponding DLL file is in your c:\weblogic\bin\oci815_8 directory.
    Problem could be in that if WL is started as NT Service,
    a) PATH variable must be set for System not for User and
    b) this setting don't take effect until NT restart.

    It looks like you may have run into an [issue related to older versions of JMX|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9530995]. It is likely that you have multiple versions of MBeanAttributeInfo on your classpath. [This JavaRanch thread|http://saloon.javaranch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=40&t=003913] recommends running a WebLogic script to appropriately set up your classpath (setWLSEnv). I don't use WebLogic very often and have not used it for a couple years, but this seems reasonable. You might also try searching the [JMX forum|http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=537] or a [WebLogic forum|http://forums.bea.com/forum.jspa?forumID=2017] (new entries now at Oracle-hosted [General WebLogic forum|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=570]).

  • Problems installing 8.1.6 on Redhat 8.0

    Hi - has anyone managed to get 8.1.6 running on Redhat 8.0?
    My experience has been:
    To get OUI running I had to set LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
    It then runs through the installation until it tries to build a starter database. Then it gives an ora-12547 TNS: lost contact.
    OK - I let the installation finish and then use dbassist - however same error (ora-12547).
    This seems to be telling me I running short of resources. It is an
    Intel Pentium III 800Mhz with 512 MB RAM
    sysctl gives
    kernel.sem = 250 32767 250 256
    kernel.shmmni = 4096
    kernel.shmall = 268435456
    kernel.shmmax = 268435456
    The environment variables I have been using.
    ORACLE_BASE=/opt/oracle
    ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/8.1.6
    ORACLE_SID=testdata
    PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:/etc:$ORACLE_HOME/bin:/usr/local/bin:
    LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:$ORACLE_HOME/JRE/:$ORACLE_HOME/jlib:$ORACLE_HOME/product/jlib
    Has anyone had any success with this configuration? - if so, how?
    Thanks for any help
    Lance

    All I could tell you is why you might me getting can't find jre..
    Put the bin diirectory in your path enviroment variable
    assuming that you have the jre installed on your system..and you have the symbolic link from jre to jdk116_v5
    example:
    one you have the jdk installed..and the symbolic links from jre - jdkxx
    bash shell$
    CLASSPATH=/usr/local/jre/lib
    export CLASSPATH
    if the above doesn't work
    try this
    CLASSPATH=/usr/local/jre/lib/classes.zip
    export CLASSPATH
    summary: you program is not able to find the JRE enviroment...the above method tell where to look for..etc..
    good luck..

  • Problems installing Oracle 8i EE on Redhat 6.2

    Hi
    I am fairly new to Linux and this is the first time I have tried to install Oracle.
    I have downloaded Oracle 8i Release 2 for Linux and decompressed it into the /home/oracle directory on my system.
    I have read the html manual and followed all the instructions up to the stage where I have to run the runInstaller shell script.
    When I try to run this on my system nothing happens at all. It makes no difference whether I run it in X windows or from the Bash shell. When I type ./runInstaller at the command prompt, it simply says file not found.
    I opened the script up in a text editor and found out it made several settings before calling the runInstaller executable in the [product]/install/linux subdirectory. I tried to run this, but it comes up with a error message saying it can't find the JRE at [square symbol]/bin/jre
    I have run all these programs as the oracle user as required. Please help me as I am at a complete loss.
    Many thanks,
    Owen Barnes

    Did you unzip on a windows computer ? If so, that's why your scripts don't work. Winzip will screw up the scripts.

  • Installing WebLogic 11gR1 zip distro on Ubuntu 10.10

    Hi. I'm having a problem installing WebLogic 11gR1, the zip distribution of Ubuntu 10.10.
    I created this path:
    /usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
    I put this in .bashrc
    export MW_HOME=/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
    I closed that terminal and opened a fresh terminal.
    I moved the *zip distribution into
    /usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
    I unpacked the zip and tried to run the configure.sh script with variations of
    sh ./configure.sh
    and I get this error message:
    =====================================================
    ./configure.sh: 19: [[: not found
    ./configure.sh: 19: -d: not found
    ERROR: You must set MW_HOME and it must point to a directory.
    where an installation of WebLogic exists. Ensure you point
    this variable to the extract location of the zip distribution.
    =====================================================
    I ran echo $MW_HOME and got
    /usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
    Which is correct.
    Any ideas what is going on and how I can fix it?

    the config.sh wouldn't pick up my JAVA_HOME either. I opened up the script and found that all it did was call another script, so I ran that script myself with no problems.

    Hi ProfKVal,
    Acrobat Standard 7 has not been tested with Windows 8.1, so it is not compatible.
    If you use it only to view PDFs then you can download the Adobe Reader which is a free PDF viewer.

    Has anyone encountered problems installing Oracle 8.0.5 on Redhat 7.0. RedHat 6.2 installation works.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Should be OK. I was running that combination for a while and can't recall any serious issues during install.
    I am currently running 8.0.5.1 on a Mandrake 7.2 PC. The install was pretty straightforward :
    - Install compatability RPMs (I used slightly higher versioned RPMs than listed in the Oracle documentation);
    - Install 8.0.5.1 s/w;
    - Apply Oracle patch;
    - Create dbs;
    - Configure listener;
    - Create the startup/shutdown rc script and links.
    That's about it for the installation.
    I haven't put the database to much use yet, so there may be other issues ahead :)
    Oh, one thing to note on that last point is that you should have a look at how the /etc/rc.d/rc file operates.
    Under Mandrake 7.2 it will look for a file in /var/lock/subsystem that has the same name as the /etc/init.d script before running the stop script correctly.
    This differs slightly from what I see in the *8.1.7* documentation, so might be due to a difference between mandrake and the other distributions.
    FWIW here is my /etc/init.d/oracle file.
    #!/bin/sh
    # chkconfig: 345 99 10
    # description: Oracle databases
    # Source function library.
    . /etc/init.d/functions
    CWD=`pwd`
    # See how we were called.
    case "$1" in
    start)
    su - oracle -c '. $HOME/.oraclerc && dbstart && lsnrctl start'
    touch /var/lock/subsys/oracle
    stop)
    su - oracle -c '. $HOME/.oraclerc && dbshut && lsnrctl stop'
    rm -f /var/lock/subsys/oracle
    restart)
    cd $CWD
    $0 stop
    $0 start
    echo "Usage: oracle {start|stop|restart}"
    exit 1
    esac
    exit 0
    null

  • How to install WebLogic 10.3.2 on RedHat 5 64-Bit withno JDK installed?

    Part of my OEM 11GR1 requirement is to install WebLogic 10.3.2. I have a server RedHat 5, I downloaded the Generic .jar file, which would require me a JDK. What is the JDK version I should use? 1.5 or 1.6? Where ot download such?

    Hi,
    If you want to install WebLogic 10.3.2 using Generic Jar then u can use any JDK1.5 or JDK1.6.
    But Always remember that JDK1.5 is not in supported Configuration with WebLogic 10.3.2. So it is always recommended and best practice that while Installing the WebLogic 10.3.2 using Generic Jar in your Box....you should have the JDK 1.6.x (64 Bit) installed in your Box already.
