• Problems Accessing EJB from Client

Hello All,
I have deployed my first EJB in my JBoss App server and thats fine. However when I try and run the simple client that I have written to access this I get the following error:
javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial
I have tried Debugging the app and cant understand where/why this error is occurring? Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated...The code I am using in the client is below:
Context c = new InitialContext();
Object o = c.lookup("HelloWorldEJB");
HelloWorldHome hw = (HelloWorldHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow (o, HelloWorldHome.class);
HelloWorld hello = hw.create();
System.out.println ("Result is: " + hello.hello());
hello.remove();

Hi!
I do not know if you have got the solution for your problem....
I am also struggling around with similar issue
Here is how i tried
Properties prop = System.getProperties();
prop.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory");
prop.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "localhost");
prop.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, "org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces" );
Context ctx = new InitialContext(prop);
System.out.println("looking up ejb");
Object obj = ctx.lookup("ejb/test");
DO NOT forget to put jbossall-client.jar and jnpserver.jar in your classpath .
This way at least you get the solution of the problem you are facing now.....
Good Luck

• Problem invoking EJB web service from Java

The project has a BPEL project calling embedded Java class and that Java class is invoking EJB WS(Java based).
The whole project has been developed in Jdeveloper. There is a dependency set between BPEL project and the EJB project.
The EJB WS has been deployed in the machine where BPEL server is running.
When I am running the java(embedded in BPEL project) manually in Jdeveloper then it is callig the EJB WS without any issue.
But when the BPEL is invoking the same Java and which in turn is invoking the EJB WS then it is giving this error in the BPEL Audit file :
<runtimeFault xmlns="http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension">
- <part name="code">

</detail>
</part>
</runtimeFault
Note: com/formfactor/it/promis/PromisLinkWSSoapHttpPortClient is the WS end-point.
To try out I have put EjbWebServices.jar , which has PromisLinkWSSoapHttpPortClient.class, in <SOA_HOME>/bpel/system/classes . But it did not help.
Can you please let me know what else has to be done?

Hi,
Can anyone help me with this ??
I guess I am not able to send the authorization credentials via the request to the web service invocation.
Plz help ! This is a bit urgent..

• Unable to invoke EJB from a BPEL process.

Hello all
I am running BPEL process manager over weblogic 8.1 App server. I am trying to invoke a simple stateless session bean from a synchronous BPEL process. I have created a WSDL for this EJB with appropriate binding and service elements.
I am able to build my BPEL sync process and deploy it. But, when I run the process and invoke the EJB, I am getting the following exception-
BPEL Fault: {http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension}bindingFaultCould not create instance for home 'ClusterableRemoteRef(-3059145150938040994S:172.26.210.17:[9700,9700,-1,-1,9700,-1,-1,0,0]:myorabpel:orabpelServer [-3059145150938040994S:172.26.210.17:[9700,9700,-1,-1,9700,-1,-1,0,0]:myorabpel:orabpelServer/288])/288'; nested exception is:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.carlson.sample.HelloWorldSessionBean_n4vx3i_HomeImpl_812_WLStub.create()
I have a home interface for the EJB which has a 'create' method and my session bean has a ejbCreate method. I am using weblogic.appc to create the stubs and skeletons for the EJB.
Has anyone tried this ?? The tutorial in the download 702.bindings/EJBBinding does something similar to this. But, I am having problems with that too.
Any comments, advice, sample code will be helpful.
Thanks a bunch

I have deployed my Bean Managed Persistance Entity Bean in Weblogic 8.1 App Server. Trying to access the ejb from Synchronous BPEL process. I tried in two ways
1. By accessing the ejb directly from BPEL process, writing the following code in BPEL process
<bpelx:exec xmlns:bpelx="http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension" language="java" version="1.4" name="InventoryEJB">

// Java code snippet
try{
Hashtable properties = new Hashtable();
properties.put(InitialContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
properties.put(InitialContext.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://PCIIB07447:7001");
InitialContext context = new InitialContext(properties);
InventoryHome home = (InventoryHome) context.lookup("Inventory");
InventoryRemote remote = home.create();
int status = remote.getInventory("Chevrolet","2-Door Coupes","Chevy Cobalt",5);
addAuditTrailEntry("Status is: " + status);
setVariableData("output", "payload",
"/status", new Integer(status));
catch(Exception e){}

</bpelx:exec>
Also copied the interface files in system\classes directory. I got the expected output but i am not able to view the "Visual Flow". Getting the following error in my BPEL server console

Hi Jitu,
I changed the wsdl. And so I dont get the warning anymore. My Webservice also runs well, now. Thanks anyway for the reply.
There is a nice tech article on the sun network, which solved my problem. The basic idea is to split the wsdl into 2 wsdl documents. one containing all the porttypes messages and so on. And the other wsdl contains the binding and service elements.
If you are interested check out this link:

• Invoking EJB from OSB

I am trying to invoke an EJB from OSB.
For this i found 2 options.
1 .exposing the ejb as webservice and configure the service end point in business service.(exposing the ejb as webservice is simple with annotations)
2.Or in OSB there is a provision to configure the business service with transport type as ejb .(calling the ejb directly)
both of them are simple.But in my requirement the OSB service would be deployed on multiple servers.
Could any of you tell me which is the best way to implement this ,in the performance lines.
Thanks in advance,
Chandra

Personally would prefer using 2 approach.
Advantage of approach 2 is more pronounced if JTA XA transctions are involved in your pipeline which are not possible with WSDL over HTTP approach.
Performance wise, approach 2 should be better.IF the EBJ is deployed in same weblogic as OSB , then we can avoid the http over head of papraoch 1 by using 1.
My two cents

• Deploying EJBs from Client-PC with DeployerTool ?

Hi,
I tried to deploy my EJBs with the DeployerTool that is running on a client
machine in the same LAN as the Weblogic Server (both under WinNT). Now I get
some errors because there is no ftp-Server running on the "weblogic"-machine.
Is there a way to use deployment form the DeployerTool without running a
ftpserver on the weblogic-machine ?
As a workaround I can use hot-deploy from the Console, the machines share parts
of there filesystem.
Excuse me for my not-so-well english,please.
Thanks,
Manfred
Configuration:
2 machines WinNT with shared filesystem,
Weblogic Server 5.1 SP3
Console and DeployerTool running on client-machine.

There is a proxy server and a firewall between the in-house-net and the

• Problem accessing ejb from servlet

Hi,
I'm aving a problem accessing a stateful session bean from a servlet. I'm using a jndi lookup to do it because I need that a client has its own bean reference...
My code into the service method is:
InitialContext ctx;
try {
ctx = new InitialContext();
carrelloService = (CarrelloLocal)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/Carrello");
and I have a reference to EJB into web.xml:
<ejb-local-ref>
<ejb-ref-name>ejb/Carrello</ejb-ref-name>
<ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
<local-home></local-home>
<local>carrello.model.CarrelloLocal</local>
</ejb-local-ref>
If I use @EJB annotation to inject the servlet, it works fine.
Instead using jndi lookup throws a NamingException because it doesn't find java:comp/env/ejb/Carrello entry.
Any idea about the problem?

Here's something simple that I have that works:

• Problem invoking Javascript from applet

Hi,
I have a hidden iframe in my JSP. While submitting the form within the JSP, I set the target of the response page as the iframe and disable all the form elements in the JSP . The response page contains an applet that pops up a window(a JFrame). On pressing the close button of the applet's frame, I invoke a Javascript method in the JSP. This javascript method enables all the components on the JSP.
Now the issue is that, when I press the close button, the browser just hangs... This doesn't happen on all the browsers.. It works with Opera. In IE it doesn't work all the time. Some times IE just hangs... Any idea what the issue could be?? Pls let me know if the problem is not clear..
Thanks in advance..
regards,
Anand

Funny I've just posted something about this on another thread.
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=54&thread=157547
You can apparently call methods on your applets from javascript.
http://developer.netscape.com/docs/manuals/communicator/jsguide4/livecon.htm#1007749
I know that most of the LiveConnect package works in NS4, NS6, IE4 and IE5, but I have always called out to JavaScript from Java not the other way around so I cannot vouch for this in IE.

• Problem invoking JVM from Windows

Hi all,
I tried to create a JVM instance as laid out in the examples. The JVM is never getting created. I am using Visual C++ (I need to, when the code works I will be creating a DLL that is an addon to someother piece of software).
I have posted the code below::
#include "stdafx.h"
#include "invoke2.h"
#ifdef _DEBUG
#define new DEBUG_NEW
#undef THIS_FILE
static char THIS_FILE[] = __FILE__;
#endif
// The one and only application object
CWinApp theApp;
using namespace std;
int main(void)
int nRetCode = 0;
// initialize MFC and print and error on failure
if (!AfxWinInit(::GetModuleHandle(NULL), NULL, ::GetCommandLine(), 0))
// TODO: change error code to suit your needs
cerr << _T("Fatal Error: MFC initialization failed") << endl;
nRetCode = 1;
else
JNIEnv *env; /* The java vm environment */

JDK1_1InitArgs vm_args;
jint res;
jint vmavail;
jclass cls;
jmethodID mid;
//char classpath[4096];
bool viewerready; /* is this java viewer valid? */
vm_args.classpath=".";
vm_args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_4;

Hey guys :)
I incorporated the changes suggested by David and "reberst" and then did the stuff told by "LathaDhamo".
Now I am able to invoke the VM without problems and my test program runs and displays windows and takes in input etc.. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!
But now, I noticed that all this happens only when I am in debug mode in VC++ and step thru the program. When my external program loads the DLL I created automatically, I get the error message that the "JavaTest" class was not found. This will lead to errors when I deploy the DLL or package it for others. How do I ensure that the class is always found? What do I have to do?
I am sorry for being so amtuerish and asking so many questions. This is my first time using JNI from the native side.
Thank you,
vijai.

• Duplicate class definition error while invoking EJB from ADF project

Hi,
I am using Jdeveloper TP3 and facing the following problem.
I have built an EJB project and am ran them successfully in the embedded OC4J via a standalone java program.
Now I created another project with ADF capabilities and when I tried to ping the EJB i get the following exception
The application named, current-workspace-app, could not start due to an error.
duplicate class definition: javax/faces/context/FacesContextFactory Invalid class: javax.faces.context.FacesContextFactory Loader
This is happenning due to class conflicts between javaee.jar and trinidad-impl.jar/adf-richclient-impl.jar.
Is there any way of bypassing this class loader issue?

Hi,
actually I didn' try the JNDI lookup but used resource injection instead
In a JSF managed bean I use
@EJB Ejb30SessionFacadeLocal myLocalInterface;
public SortableModel getTableModel() {
List rows = new ArrayList<Employees>();
rows = myLocalInterface.queryEmployeesFindAll();
this.tableModel = new SortableModel(rows);
return tableModel;
Its a EJB 3.0 session bean that accesses a Local interface. However, if the remote is on the same server then I would think that using @EJB Ejb30SessionFacadeRemote myRemoteInterface; does similar
