Problem Moving XCode Project From iMac to MacBook

I have been working with an Objective C library for iPhone apps using XCode on a iMac running OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63). My project builds fine on this system. I need to relocate the project to a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8.4 (12E55). I have XCode 4.6.3 installed on both systems. The project fails to build on the Mac Book pro. I get two compile errors, both claiming "No visible @interface for 'xxx' declares the selector 'yyy'". (xxx and yyy are class and method names respectively.) The source code appears correct, and as I mentioned this very same project builds fine on the iMac.
I can zip the project directory structure on the MacBook and copy it back to the iMac, and it again compiles just fine.
The project will also build on another iMac using XCode 4.6.1
I've tried stuff like deleting the schemes and re-creating them, etc.
I'm rather new to the Apple development world. The code was developed by someone else, and unfortunately I can't really call him in on this. So if anyone has run into anything like this, I'd appreciate knowing what the causes/remedies might be. Thanks..

Sorry. There is no remedy other than doing it correctly the first time. What you will have to do is rebuild the project from scratch.
Do all of the following on the original machine. Create a new project using the correct template for whatever you are building. Use git SCM. Setup all of the plist and bundle IDs to be the same as the original. Then, open up the original project. Drag all of the source files except for main.m from the old project to the project navigator of the new one. When promped, make sure you copy the files to the destination. Once you have all of the files copied over, get the project running again. I'm sure you will have difficulty because there are probably other things that were done incorrectly.
Once you have the new app working, you can transfer it to the new machine. You might want to look at setting up a remote repository. You will also want to do additional testing. Once you familiarize yourself with the code, you might want to split it back up again into an organization that makes sense for you.

  • Moving rental film from iMac to MacBook

Like many, apparently, I was perplexed that a rental film I downloaded on my iMac iTunes didn't appear automatically on my MacBook Air.
After much investigation, I found I could transfer the film, by cable, from iMac to iPhone:
plug in iPhone > open iTunes on iMac > select iPhone in sidebar > select movies menu > rental film should appear at top > move button
and then rinse and repeat from iPhone to MacBook Air.
My question: is there an easier way of doing this?
All macs and devices are recent models, authorised, on one Apple account and on wifi. I have no Apple TV.

    Who else is perplexed?
No time to list all the similar threads on this forum and others, since all I want to know is how best to move rentals from one computer to another. Maybe try searching this forum for similar queries?
You can only have iTunes rentals on one device at a time.
You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
I understand that, but thanks for reiterating it, it may clarify the policy for others. All I want to know is what is the best way of moving rentals from one computer to another.
The FAQ you linked to gives the rules for moving rentals, but does not tell you how to do it. There is another Apple helpsheet somewhere, which I have read and used, which shows you how to do it by plugging in the cable and using "move" in iTunes. But I came to this forum wondering if there might be a faster, simpler way of doing it. Maybe wirelessly or direct from computer to computer. Since the helpsheet only addresses how to move from computer to phone and vice versa, not from computer to computer. The term used is in their rules is "devices", which in this context does seem to include desk computers and laptops.
I know I can do it via an iPhone by plugging the iPhone first into one computer and then the second. This seems likely a very 20th century way of doing things. It may be the only way, and indeed is starting to look like that from the lack of responses. But if there is another better way I'd like to know. Simple as that.
Not an attack on Apple, from whom I have purchased thousands of dollars of products per year since the 1980s, and with whom as a company I am generally very happy. Not an attack on the forum. Not even an attack on the unwieldy transfer mechanism which may well be a product of stringent licence agreements with content providers. And certainly not an attack on Apple's rules for rental transfers. Just a simple request for information about a very specific technical issue, how to move rentals from one computer to another, which will undoubtedly be of interest to many others searching the forum.
I know that I can purchase a rental directly from iTunes on to any device. That seems obvious and is not helpful once you have a rental on one computer and want to move it to another computer.

  • Moving photo s from iMac to macbook pro

    Hi All
i have just brought a new macbook pro and i need to move all my photos from my imac to the new device, they are stored i iphoto, also i have a second library of iphoto that is on a hard drive at the moment apple did do a migration but for some reason or another all the photos that were in an event say " my dog ' are now all mixed up or just one photo in an event on its own.
    any ideas

drag the bad library to the desktop and Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
Once things are correct trash the old library on the desktop

  • My host name changes every few days, since Xmas adding a macbook its changed 6 times. Do I need to stop this? Does it cause problems with sharing between the iMac and macbook?

my host name changes every few days, since Xmas adding a macbook its changed 6 times. Do I need to stop this? Does it cause problems with sharing between the iMac and macbook?

There are several possible causes for this problem.
    1. Two (or more) computers on the local network have the same Bonjour name, such as "X's-MacBook-Pro.local".
    2. You have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If applicable, disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
    3. A Mac wakes from sleep due to network traffic. This is due to a bug in OS X that may only affect some models.
    4. A device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
    5. A third-party wireless router has incompatible settings or firmware. In that case, refer to the manufacturer or ISP for support. Restarting the router may help, temporarily.
    6. See also this support article.
Rename the computer in the Sharing preference pane.

  • Data Migration from iMac to MacBook Pro Issues

    Hello!
I purchased a MacBook Pro and immediately began the data transfer through the Migration Assistant. Twelve hours later, it is at a screen saying "canceling migration", which it has been stuck on for five hours. I shut down my MacBook Pro and the iMac, and attempted to start the process over again. It appears that the data in fact did transfer, so I skipped the step asking me to transfer my data. Now I am at the screen to create my account, and it will not let me choose my full name or account name (due to that account information already being transfered over). That is the only account I would like to use, not any new account. I am unsure how to get around this step, any advice?
    Thanks!

I just bought a MacBook Pro and am trying to use MA to migrate stuff from my iMac (Intel, OSX 10.4.11) to my MacBook Pro (Intel, OSX 10.6.3).
Problem is, every time I try ("from" iMac "to" MacBook Pro), my iMac IDs my MacBook Pro and asks for the passcode, I give it, it then asks for the passcode again, I give it again, then it churns away with the message that it's "looking for other computers". On and on and on and gets stuck in this mode.
I'm using ethernet between the two. Tried wireless also. Same issue. Downloaded the Migration & DVD/CD Sharing Update onto the iMac; it's already on the MacBook Pro. Same problem persists.
Any suggestions? (among the ten zillion firewire cables I have, none fits the MacBook Pro, so haven't tried firewire yet).
    Thanks.

  • When I try to migrate from imac to macbook pro my user account says this user needs attention before migrating. My e-mail does not migrate in the process. this never happened before i updated to Maverick

When I try to migrate from imac to macbook pro my user account says "this user needs attention before migrating". My e-mail does not migrate in the process. This never happened before I updated to Maverick. I have repaired user permissions but this not make any difference

Just a Follow-up - the migration went fine. The migration did not import Little Snitch, Flip4Mac and DivX, stating they were incompatible.  It also reported that Intego Back up Assistant has improper security setting (which I have not yet investigated).
I am encountering small problems.  Safari would not open embedded pdf documents and instead showed a black screen.  This was fixed with instructions found at http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html and it now works fine.
Importing 17 years of old mail from Eudora to Apple Mail was time consuming. mostly because of the pre-migration preening i did, but using Eudora file cleaner before the migrtaion helped a lot.
I amy find some more glitches, but so far everything seems to be working.

  • Problems Moving Ripped DVD from Itunes to Ipod

Problems Moving Ripped DVD from Itunes to Ipod
I am having a problem transfering ripped DVD's from the Itunes Video folder to the actual Ipod. I thought one of the cool points of the Video Ipod was that you could play DVD's on it. I know I needed to use special software to achieve this since I researched it here. I am using Handbrake Lite since regular Handbrake look too daunting for me. I also used Isquint, since it was recommened here. I used both without changing anything on both of those progams other than click the go button. The DVD's will play in Itunes but it won't allow me to drag them to the Ipod. They are in the Video folder in Itunes. What in the wild, wild world of sports am I do'in wrong? I assume it's something stupid because the device is stellar. Hope someone out there can lend us a hand.
    Kind Regards,
    Julias

I am having a similar problem, and i cant contact ipod 2 ask 4 help - its not explainedo online:
my ipod will only upload video podcasts, no ordinary videos, except for one. they are all the same format (.MOV quicktime), and my i tunes has them all on it and plays them fine there, its just when i drag and drop or insert my videos onto my ipod any other way theydont get uploaded onto my ipod like everything else does, there seems no way that i can get my own videos onto it. only one video that isnt a podcast has ever uploaded, and its the same format as the others!
Any ideas or help would be apprichiated ( i cant spell:P)

  • HT3231 Can i migrate keynotes from iMac to Macbook Pro?

Can I migrate Keynotes from iMac to Macbook Pro?

Do you mean the program itself? If so then if it was bought from the Mac App Store just logon to the MAS with the same Apple ID you used when you bought it and redownload and install on the new Mac.
If it was bought on DVD then get that DVD out and install in on the new Mac then run Software Update to bring it up to its most current version.
If you mean the Keynotes you created then just copy them over your LAN from one Mac to the other.

  • Cant delete recurring event from iMac to Macbook Air

I Cant delete recurring event from iMac to Macbook Air.
I have an event scheduled for Wednesday each week, I delete it at end of day. If i delete it on my Macbook Air it deletes fine on my iMac just fine. But if i delete it on my iMac first it stays on my Macbook Air...
I check the preferences and both computers are configured the same way..
It use to work before i upgraded both computers to Yosemite...

Yes and no. AirDrop is used to send a file from one computer to another. A Contact isn't a file so AirDrop isn't the best way to move contacts from one computer to another. If you own both an iMac and MBA and want to keep the two computers synced, the easiest way is to create an iCloud account on both computers. Any calendar event, to do, contact, or note you create on one will sync to the other. If you just bought a MBA and want to move data to it from your iMac you should use Apple's migration assistant. Personally I think the easiest way to migrate is to perform a backup of the old computer to a USB external drive using TimeMachine and then connect the TimeMachine to the new computer and use Migration Assistant.
But can you exchange contacts using AirDrop? Yes. Select the contact(s) you want to transfer, export them as vcards to a temporary folder. Then AirDrop the folder to your MBA. Now run Contacts and then drag the vcards onto the Contacts program icon in the Dock.

I would put the destination computer into TDM

  • How to install software from imac to macbook pro

how to install software from imac to macbook pro

Are you using one of the newer iMac's with no DVD drive? If so, you can either get an external CD/DVD drive (any make - doesn't have to be Apple) or, if you have another Mac on the same network that has a CD/DVD drive you may be able to do it by turning on 'DVD or CD Sharing' on that Mac (System Preferences>Sharing). Hopefully you'll see the disk on the Mac without the DVD drive and be able to install from there.

Help ma boab did you migrate over your applications and settings from your old computer?  It does appear the installer was unable to create the Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder since your current User account did not have sufficient access to either modify they Applications or Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder if it already exists.
If you migrated/copied any files or applications from your old computer then I would recommend running the uninstaller from the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  Once you have uninstalled please run the CC Cleaner Tool prior to reinstalling Photoshop CS5.  Please see Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html for information on how to use the CC Cleaner Tool.
