Problem PDFMaker(acrobatXI) / MSWord2010

Hello,
i have a Word file invoice to email to clients as a PDF attachement. My clients emails are in an Excel file. After my file is done in MSword 2010 i click on "send as PDF attachement" and it normally opens a box where i have fill in the name of my file, email of clients etc...
My problem is after clicking on that it sometimes works perfectly and sometimes i have a message box saying that Word got a serious problem with PDFMaker (Acrobat) and ask me to restart Word without PDFMaker complement. And i have to start over all my work !
Can anybody help me ? Thanks in advance!

ok, i realize I may not have been clear enough, my problem is using Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin. It bugs using it with MSWord 2010 when i want to use the "mail merge" function.
Thanks!!

It is usually dimmed till the time a page is completely loaded. Does this happen for you for all pages, or a specific web page? If specific web page, try pressing the stop button of the browser and see if that helps.

Often when he opens MS Outlook he receives a message:

  • Acrobat 9 PDFMAKER for Word - Relative Hyperlink problem

In the past I have successfully use Acrobat Standard 6 PDFMAKER with Word 2003 to preate PDF files with relative hyperlinks. I have a large massively hyperlinked PDF document collection which I distribute on DVD and hence need relative hyperlinks because people's DVD drives have different drive letters. The PDF links produced by Acrobat 6 PDFMAKER have only a single "F" entry in the CosDict and that entry is the desired relative path. The PDF files I make are PDF 1.4. These work with Adobe reader.
Acrobat 9's PDFMAKER for Word 2007 appears to be unable to produce PDF 1.4 files with relative hyperlinks that work in Adobe Reader. I get PDF files with Annot entries containing a correct "F" entry with a relative path, BUT there is also a UF entry with an absolute path. I have reported this as a bug because it appears to me that the PDF spec says the UF field is a PDF 1.7 feature. I'm speculating that the presence of this undesired absolute path in the UF field of the Annot object is why Adobe Reader (and Foxit Reader) won't follow the hyperlinks as relative paths. Foxit complains about not finding the absolute path.
Is there a way to coerce Acrobat 9's PDFMAKER to produce truly relative hyperlinks from Word 2007? Am I wrong is diagnosing the problem? I am using Acrobat 9.4.2. Is there a newer version that has fix this problem?
Any suggestions for how to produce PDF files with functional relative hyperlinks from Word 2007 would be appreciated. Since my document collection is very large (1000,'s of files in a directory tree) I'd like to be able to automate this. I have successfully written VB script code to automate running PDFMAKER but the relative vs absolute hyperlink problem persists whether I make the files one at a time from Word or in a batch from VB.

I don't believe Word 2000 is supported by Acrobat 9

  • How to fix a font encoding problem in PDFMaker for Word?

I've just been upgraded to a new computer at work, and I'm finding that a custom font I need is not appearing correctly in PDFs I create using the PDFMaker plugin for Word.
The font (Helvetica Fraction) is a Type 1 font with a custom encoding scheme. If I just print to the PDF driver, then look at the font embedding in the resulting PDF, Helvetica Fraction is listed as Type 1, Custom Encoding, and text set in Helvetica Fraction appears correctly.
If I use the PDFMaker plug-in to create a PDF from the same document and then examine the embedding, Helvetica Fraction is shown as Type 1 (CID) with an encoding of Identity-H. In this case, text set in Helvetica Fraction does not appear. There is text in those places, but if I try to highlight it and copy it over the Clipboard on my computer, all I get is strings of capital Zs.
So far, I've tried removing unneeded fonts from my system, clearing my font cache, setting different joboptions files in PDFMaker, reducing the output resolution to 600 dpi, and turning off as many advanced options as possible. Any additional recommendations?
My current setup: Office 2007, Acrobat 9, Windows 7.
    Thanks!
    -- Brian M.

I normally leave the "rely on system fonts" checkbox on. When I look at a Word document that's experiencing this problem, Word is not substituting another font for Helvetica Fraction.
Meanwhile, I've also purchased an updated copy of the font, which did not help either.

  • Problem converting Publisher 2007 files with PDFMaker

    Hi all
I hope someone can help me.
I am a technician at a large company and we recently upgraded a users PC to Vista Business (32 bit) from XP Pro.
Since this was done, the user has a problem with Publisher files on Office 2007.
When trying to convert the files using Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 with the PDFMaker plug-in on Publisher, it spools the file to the AdobePDF printer and the job then disappears from the printer but the converting bit just hangs at 60% and Publisher 2007 freezes up and Acrobat is not launched showing the converted publisher file.
This is only happening when converting Publisher files. Word Excel etc are working fine.
When logged in as administrator, it works perfectly. The converted publisher file spools to the AdobePDF printer, disappears from the queue and Acrobat Standard 9 is launched showing the publisher document as a PDF file. Giving the user administrator rights is not an option. This apparently worked perfectly for the user when his machine OS was XP Pro using Office 2007 and Acrobat Standard 9.
I have tried a repair of Office, a repair and then a complete uninstall and reinstall of Abobe Standard 9. Also given the user full control of the Adobe folders but the same thing happens with the Publisher conversions.
    Any ideas?
    James

    Hi all
This problem is now resolved. I got it to work but the frustrating thing was I dont know how I did it! Messed with some settings in Acrobat 9 and the AdobePDF printer and retried it and it worked
    Thanks anyway

    Hi,
As the event log indicated, this is due to acrobat pdfmaker office com addin doesn't work well with Microsoft Word.
I would suggest you go ahead and try to upgrade your Adobe product to the latest version and see if issue persists.
Or contact the support of Adobe and see if there is a known compatibility issue or not.

  • PDFMaker font problem

Can anyone offer any advice on how to debug a font problem?
I am using a (shareware) symbol font on my Windows XP system. It works great in FrameMaker, and comes out perfectly in Frame-generated PDF files.
Unfortunately, I also have to convert Excel spreadsheets to PDF, using the same font. When I generated those PDF files with PDFMaker, the font characters all show as little squares. I checked MS Word as well, and it has the same issue.
I've checked the font properties in the generated file using the TouchUp Text tool in Acrobat - the font is recognised and embedded. If I try to make changes, I get this error message:
"Some of the characters in the current font are not available, the missing characters will be replaced by place holder characters (maybe dots '.').
"A work around to this is to select another font which contains the characters in the TouchUp Properties dialog.
    "Proceed with replacement?"
I'm using Office 2007 under Windows XP Professional. The font is shareware and unsupported. I'd bet my bottom dollar that the problem isn't in PDFMaker, but I don't know a whole lot about fonts, and I'm not sure how to debug this.
    Can anyone offer any advice?

If you go to the general tab in the Adobe PDF printer properties, there is a button for printing preferences. Select that and go to the Adobe PDF Settings tab. There should be a check box for leaving the log file intact there. You can also simply print to the Adobe PDF printer with print to file selected. Then open the file in Distiller and watch the messages created (these steps are automated if you do not print to file).
You can also check the fonts in the PDF (use ctrl-D, font tab). If they are embedded, that information is stated in parentheses. If there is no statement of embedding, then it did not get done. That is not necessarily an error if the job settings are not set to embed the font.

  • Problem with Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin

I have recently installed MS Office 2010 on my W7 system but find that the Acrobat addin for MS Word 2010 is not working -- it gives errors messages and recommends that I disable the addin.
This all used to work fine with MS Word 2007.
Is there anything that can be done about this problem. Is there an upgrade for the Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin ?
    Gerry

    Kelly,
Whilst the main reason for 64 bit Office is large and complex Excel files, significant performance gains have been found in other usage scenarios, such as with lengthy and complex Word documents (especially when using complex plugins such as EndNote). It is in users' interests to use 64 bit Office if they can - but this is only possible if all their plug-ins support 64 bit Office.
I see Microsoft's document as a classic support driven response (or should I call it a cop-out) - there are compatibility issues with non-Microsoft software, so, to eliminate the support burden, we will steer you towards the lowest common denominator of installing 32 bit Office even if you have an x64 OS. Whilst this makes a great deal of sense, in that many users will see no advantage in 64 bit Office, there are plenty of users, including myself, who would see advantages from 64 bit Office but are being prevented from moving to 64 bit Office because third party plug-in providers have yet to make 64 bit versions available.
The situation with 64 bit Office plug-ins mirrors the situation with 64 bit Photoshop plug-ins, but with one key difference. Photoshop CS4, CS5 and CS5.1 (same as CS5; the apparent version bump indicates it was installed as part of Creative Suite 5.5) default to installing both 32 bit and 64 bit versions on x64 versions of Windows. You can therefore pick and choose which version of Photoshop you use according to which plug-ins you need. I'm now in the fortunate position of having 64 bit versions of all but two of the plug-ins I use regularly. I start the 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5.1 if I need those plug-ins, but my default is the 64 bit version.
Office 2010 requires you to choose between 32 bit and 64 bit; you cannot install both at the same time, and you cannot mix and match between different Office applications (so, for example, installing 64 bit Project 2010 alongside 32 bit Office Professional Plus 2010 is not supported and may cause problems - indeed, I'm not sure if the Project installer would allow you to install the 64 bit version if you had 32 bit Office applications already installed). This makes the unavailability of 64 bit versions of a single plugin that you require for one Office application a total bar to moving to 64 bit Office.
Unfortunately, this creates a 'chicken and egg' effect - the apparent demand for 64 bit versions of Office plugins is reduced because the unavailability of 64 bit versions of a crucial plugin prevents a move to 64 bit Office. I, for one, have a clear intention to switch to 64 bit Office, and will not buy new products or pay to upgrade existing ones unless they support 64 bit Office. Many products that can hardly be said to be aimed at the Office power user have supported 64 bit Office for some while, including Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 and 11.0.
I wholeheartedly welcome the support for some 64 bit Office applications in Acrobat 10.1, but urge Adobe to provide complete support for 64 bit Office 2010. Currently, 64 bit versions of Visio 2010, Project 2010, Access 2010 and Publisher 2010 are not yet supported in PDFMaker. Hopefully this support will be forthcoming in a future quarterly update.
There is a mistake in your post - 64 bit Outlook 2010 is supported in Acrobat 10.1's PDFMaker. The issue with Outlook in the blog post you linked to is that Outlook 2010 doesn't have Microsoft's Save as PDF functionality - but if you have PDFMaker, using PDFMaker is the best option anyway.

  • CS6 and AcrobatXI problem

After installing CS6, Acrobat XI will randomly become non-responsive.  Occasionally it will show a message that it is not activated.  The only solution is to totally uninstall CS6 and re-install.  Repair does not work.  There does not seem to be a pattern in what was being done right before the problem.  This has happened five or six times in the last six months.  What could the problem be?

Moving this discussion to the Acrobat Installation & Update Issues forum.

  • Problem in Acrobat PDFMaker

    Hi,
i am using Acrobat 7 to convert the one word document into PDF, while in the conversion process i am getting following error.
An error while creating a temporary file: Word was unable to write some of the embedded objects due to insufficient memory or disk space.

I recommend posting in the Acrobat forum; CreatePDF is a special web service.
When you post, please include your version of Word and Windows, since compatibility issues with your ancient version of Acrobat are a big possibility.

  • PDFMaker loads but won't work in Word 2013 - Acrobat XI and DC - Win 8.1 Pro

OK, I opened a question that never got answered and it never was resolved...
Just updated to Acrobat DC - same problem exists...
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro fully up to date..
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2013 Pro (I have an Office 365 subscription so it's the click-to-run install).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat Pro DC.
I've rebooted (a full restart, not Win 8's fast boot restart) between each installation.
I've tried this in multiple Office applications, none of them work EXCEPT for Outlook.
For the following I will use Word as my examples...
I've uninstalled all plug-ins and still it won't work.
I've tried running Word as Administrator.... still won't work.
OK... so this is what it looks like... as you can see the toolbar loads, but no icons...
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/wsbs4kon3z4e965/Word%20Acrobat%20Screenshot.jpg?dl=0
When you click on those buttons... it goes through the motions as if it were creating the PDF... but no file is ever created...
If I right-click on a Word document and select Convert to PDF - it goes through the motions of creating the PDF, asks me where to save... and then a dialog box named "Acrobat PDFMaker" comes up saying " {Exclamation Point Yellow Triangle Icon} An unexpected error occurred. PDFMaker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF."
If I right-click on a text file... and select Covert to PDF,  it immediately pops open a PDF of the text file.  Same with any image file.
This was all working perfectly up until out of nowhere it stopped working on January 26, 2015.  See my original posting here: Acrobat XI Pro Word 2013 add-in stopped working
I can Print to PDF using the PDF Printer without any problems.
Creating a PDF in Outlook, no problems...
I'm hoping somebody can figure this one out... I'm completely stumped.... and I'm usually very good at troubleshooting stuff.

Click to Run according to Microsoft:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219427.aspx
"Click-to-Run is a Microsoft streaming and virtualization technology that reduces the time that is required to install Office and helps you run multiple versions of Office on the same computer. The streaming technology enables you to download and begin to use an Office product before the whole product is installed on your computer. The virtualization technology provides an isolated environment for Office to run on your computer. This isolated environment allows you to run the latest version of Office side-by-side with an earlier version of Office that is already installed on your computer."

  • Pdfmaker.xla "accidentally" on my system - need to remove

I used to have Acrobat 6.0 installed on my laptop (provided by work).  When they upgraded my computer they did not move Acrobat over.  I didn't really mind -- except.....
They used the Windows transfer feature to move my program settings over -- and apparently that brought "references" to all of the Excel add-ins installed on my old laptop -- one of which a VBA "project" called pdfmaker.xla.
Because the actually application isn't installed -- each time I launch Excel I get a VBA dialog box saying "Compile error in hidden module: AutoExecNew".  When I exit get the same dialog box, but it references "DistMon".  I can just click OK and proceed -- but it's really getting old.
I tried to remove the add-in... But, of course, it's not there to begin with so can't be removed.  I went into the VBA editor and tried to removethe .xla project but am faced with the problem that the Remove item is gray on the menus -- and if I tried to double-click the project I'm prompted for a password.  Naturally, I don't have that.
Is there anyway to get rid of this?
The old laptop was wiped out...  Our help desk doesn't have a 6.0 install (hoping I could install and then "properly" uninstall)...
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.
