Problem reading disk image

I just purchased and downloaded a full upgrade version of Lightroom 5 (not creative cloud). I successfully completed the purchase and download but my Mac Pro cannot open the package (i just downloaded a different Adobe product successfully yesteday).
I have lots of disk space. I have Mac OS X 10.6.8 and 8 GBs of RAM. Any ideas why this won't open?
I have a copy of Lightroom 3 and 4 on the machine already, running just fine.
I'm going to try redownloading this package but wondering if others are having this problem.

It appears that I needed to download it again. It ran this time. Thanks for the idea, but no, for some reason it must have been corrupted.

  • Works, just one problem, make disk images non read only

    I have a script that enables me to drop a file onto it and will ask for a text. It will copy the file and the text inside a new disk image.
    However the created is read only, i would prefer it if i could edit it's contents.
    The code is given below:

    if the button_pressed is not "Cancel" then
    set fName2 to xx & ".txt"
    set myFile to open for access file ((thepathp as string) & fName2) with write permission

    Hi Richard!
    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!
    I don't know how much I can help but maybe you need to make a disk image first then convert it to get your results instead of creating the disk image in one step? In the "attach" function you have the possibility to select read/write. And interesting comments "about overriding the decision to make read only." (See man hdiutil under attach)
    But this is just a thought...for what it's worth?

  • Problems with disk image in Time Capsule

    I've created a disk image on my timecapsule to use as extra storage. Since the disk image won't automatically mount on my desktop, I have created an alias to a folder saved inside that disk image. When I open the alias, this mounts the disk image and I can view or write files as I wish. So far so good.
    When however I acces the timecapsule through finder, I can see the disk image file (.dmg), but when I click on it, it says "Connection Failed" and that it cannot acces my timecapsule.
    I want to share acces to my timecapsule, but from the other computer I cannot use that alias, and I have to access the timecapsule conventionally through finder, but I also get the "Connection Failed" error. How is it possible that I get a message that the connection failed, while I am able to connect through my "alias trick" on my own computer? Moreover, all other functions such as wireless printing work fine through TC and the light is green. I have the impression it may have something to do with how a disk image works which I don't quite understand: Can you open a .dmg file to write in it?
    Does anyone have any ideas how this might work? Thanks!

    Real Player was the culprit.

  • Problem making disk image of Panther install cds...

    Hi everyone!
    I want to make a disk image of my Panther retail install cds...just to have a backup in case I lose my cds or something. The problem is on disk 2 I keep getting an input/output error using Disk Utility. I tried to use SuperDuper and I got the same and the log shows this:

    Funny thing is I had problems installing my Panther recently and I had to disable the German package because of errors during install. Does this make sense at all and can anyone help me to make a disk image of my Panther cds?
    Thanks in advance,
    Reg
    Powerbook G4 12" 1.5GHz 1.25Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi eww!
    Yes that might be possible? That's one of the reasons I wanted to make a disk image in case my cds would be damaged or something. It makes sense what you say because as I mentioned when I did my install I had a hang up with the German pkg and I just skipped over it...good thing I'm not German huh?
    If I clean it up and everything and it's still the same problem what are my options? I don't see a way to de-select this package when making the disk image?
    Thanks again,

  • Tiger 10.4.11 update install reads disk image fails to mount

    i've been trying to download the tiger 10.4.11 upgrade and when i go to open i get the following disc images failed to mount and a reason of item not recognized. i'm at a lose considering ti've downloaded the update several times with my slow dial up and tried disc utilty to correct it, all i want to do is use my new ipod nano but need to upgrade my itunes which means i need to upgrade my software please help pretty frustrated.

    Would the same error occur if the update being downloaded is for an intel based computer and not the PPC, which is what is needed?
    Here's the page for the 10.4.11 combo PPC download
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
    Depending also what level of 10.4 you are presently at, downloading smaller combos/increments, may seem time consuming, but actually work better with dial up service. I was once dial up myself, and went through the same difficulty. Also with doing it this way, you would have to repair permissions with each download, and reboot if any were repaired. There would also be numerous security downloads, too.

  • Problems reading BMP images using ReadImage function

    I am trying to load BMP images using the IMAQ Vision ReadImage function (VB6). The images load as monochrome images.
    I use the CWIMAQViewer1.Pallette as a parameter in the command.
    Note: The images load fine when using Vision Assistant or other image viewing software.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Sorry. Wrong forum. I'll repost on Machine Vision forum.

  • Problem reading image from input Stream

    I'm having a problem reading an image through an input stream. It gives me the error
    Premature end of JPEG file
    sun.awt.image.ImageFormatException: JPEG datastream contains no imageand my code looks like
    public Image getImage(String name, String command){
              if(command.equals(pCode)){
                   Image image=null;
                   System.out.println(name);
                   InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream(name);
                   BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(is);
                    byte[] byBuf =new byte[10000];
                     try {
                        int byteRead = bis.read(byBuf,0,10000);
                   } catch (IOException e) {
                        // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                        e.printStackTrace();
                     image = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(byBuf);
                   return image;
              return null;
         }And the string name looks when printed is: usr/images/PRLogo.jpg

    If the image is bigger than 10K, this code will break.
    You can pass an InputStream to javax.imageio.ImageIO.read. That's probably an easier option than trying to do the buffering yourself.

    Here's what MacFixit says :
    Disk images not mounting [Updated] Several users report an inability mount disk images after applying the Mac OS X 10.4.9 update.
    If you are having a problem where disk images won't mount, try booting in Safe Mode (by holding down the Shift key while starting up), then re-attempting mounting of the disk image.
    This solution is particularly useful for the following scenario: You want to try re-application of the Mac OS X combo updater (a common workaround for issues that occur after an incremental Mac OS X update), but are unable to mount the combo updater disk image.
    Prior to booting in safe mode, however, you can delete the following files:
    * /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache
    * /System/Library/com.apple.kernelcaches
    and re-attempting the mount. These, and other cache files, are automatically deleted when you boot in safe mode, but you can potentially save some time by trying deletion of these files (then logging out and back in) first.
    Another option is to use an alternative tool that can mount disk images, like Mount.app, FlashMount, or Toast Titanium.
    MacFixIt reader Joy Denton is one user who had success with our posted workaround:
    "Just wanted to let you know that I had the issue of Disk Images not mounting. This occurred after installing Mac OS X 10.4.9 from Software Update. Fortunately, I read your post regarding a possible fix by using the Combo Update and used Toast to mount the disk image. Ran the Combo Update and ran AppleJack once again. I am now able to mount disk images. This was an annoying problem to be sure."
    But imho the best advice that can be given about software updates is to always have a clone of your system on another partition or external HD so you can boot on it if anything goes wrong. From an external system you can repair your internal disk, install the Combo update if the incremental one failed, etc.

  • Disk image crashes Finder

    I have an encrypted disk image that crashes the Finder when attempting to mount. I have tried using Disk Utility to repair and it apparently mounts and runs the check, but I still notice the Finder crashing in the background, even as Disk Utility claims there are no issues with the image.
    Outside of moving onto a disk recovery program, is there anything else I can try? And should it come to a disk recovery program, can anyone recommend one, particularly for problems with disk images.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Understood baltwo... again, thank you for your perspectives. So I bought Disk Warrior and gave it a go by starting up via the CD and choosing File > Rebuild Disk Image. It found 5 errors: 4 files with incorrect text encoding values and 1 folder with an incorrect flag. All 5 were deemed repaired. However, upon reboot and subsequent attempt at opening the image, the same result was observed -- the Finder crashed. I also tried it with a version of Disk Warrior installed in the Utilities folder. In this case, Disk Warrior started the process of checking the image, but the Finder crashed.
    I'm going to continue to tinker, but in the meantime if anyone has had success repairing disk images using another utility, I'd love a recommendation.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Disk image mounts automatically

    Since a couple of days I am experiencing a mysterious problem: a disk image  (.dmg) file keeps mounting automatically  under certain circumstances.
    This is what happens:
    - when I reboot my Mac
    or
    - whenever I choose 'Print' in an application and then select a print option or choose a printer from the printer popuplist
    the image mounts and the windows displaying the contents shows in the Finder.
    The image is a MacUpdate Promo image of 2009. It is read-only and it is stored on a network drive (a USB disk attached to the Airport Extreme). I can unmount the image, and the network drive, no problem. No files in use. But when I choose Print etc , it appears again!
    Now, this image has been there for almost a year, and the problem started only two weeks ago, when I searched the disk for a piece of software (which I didn't find, so I never installed anything off the disk image).
    I'm running MacOSX 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro 15" (2010).
    I am not aware of any preference setting that causes this. The .dmg file is not in the list of login items.
    Anyone an idea what's causing this?
    HE

    What happens if you rename the dmg?  Does anything complain after that?

  • Disk Utility error - can't create disk image

    Hi all...I'm trying to back up my Mac OS X install dvd (10.5.2) via DU and creating a disk image to burn on my MacBook Pro. I've done this before, such as for the Panther disc that came with my G4. I attempted it three different times and I keep getting the following error:
    'Unable to create "Mac OS X Install Disc 1." (input/output error)'
    Furthermore, it keeps referring to it as the actual dvd's name, and not the one I renamed it as (don't know if this is important to mention or not, but just in case.)
    So I took the job to my G4 and no problem, the disk image was created, and it's ready to burn.
    So my question is, does anyone know what the problem might be in regards to DU not being able to create the disk image on my MacBook and cause this error? Because my G4 was able to do it, I know it's not the DVD giving me problems.
    (Yes, I repaired permissions.)
    Any help would be much appreciated!

    It may be the the disc after all...
    I'm still having the same problem, but I also discovered that I cannot get the install disc to get past the "spinning gear" stage when trying to start up with it, so yes, it's most definitely useless! My MacBook is still under warranty so I phoned Apple, and explained the problem and everything I did to ensure it wasn't hardware related. So they're sending me new install discs. I'm not 100% convinced yet that the problem is the install disc, but we'll see...my only doubt remains from the fact that I was able to make a disc image of it on my G4. That said...
    I did a hardware test (long version, and everything is reportedly fine), played dvd movies, burned cd's, installed software from discs, etc, and it seems the drive is working fine, however, it could possibly be sensitive to even the slightest smudge or scratch (the install disc has a few very slight marks on it that shouldn't be a problem, and I cleaned it thoroughly). The only other time I had a problem was when I went to rip a song from a cd to iTunes where it hung and and then failed to complete the task. (The cd itself played without issue though.) I checked it for dirt/scratches: it had a couple of barely imperceptible smudges and one shallow scratch. I cleaned it, tried it again and iTunes was able to import from it after that. This remains the only time (so far) I've had a problem with a disc besides my install disc.
    I want to be able to repair disk before I install 10.5.3, and back up everything, including the install discs. My Macbook came with 10.5.2 and except for this problem, everything's been working fine.
    When I get my new install discs, I'll post how that went. They should arrive within a week or so.
    DrHouseTF: I checked out your thread. I've never tried to make copies of game disks via DU, but maybe it's due to copy protection measures on the disc itself?

  • Disk Image Password

    Hi, I created an encrypted disk image and assigned it a password. Everything was fine for months; If I wanted to mount the disk image I would be asked for the password. That is what I wanted.
    I was making up an Appleworks 6 data base last week and the computer started to ask me repetitively for the password to open the disk image, altho the disk image had nothing to do with the data base I was making. After awhile, frustrated with the constant window, I added the password and said "remember it". Well it went away and stopped bugging me. I have no idea why the window kept popping up during the data base work.
    In any case; my problem:
    The disk image now mounts without any request for a password. I cannot figure out how to get it back to asking for a password before mounting the disk image.
    I have looked into keychain, Safari automount and the disk utility application; to no avail.
    Short of killing the disk image and recdreating it from scratch, is there a way to bring back the permission window before mounting the disk image?
    Thanks, John

    The answer is to deselect "remember password (add to keychain)" when you create the New Image
    Make sure you remember the password though

  • Read an image from jar

    I have a problem reading an image file inside a jar file. I basically want to read an image file from a jar and throw it on the browser. The following is the code that I'm using.
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.URL;
    public class ImageServlet extends HttpServlet {
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
    try {
    response.setContentType("image/jpeg");
    InputStream inputStream = ImageServlet.class.getResourceAsStream("/duke.jpg");
    //InputStream inputStream = getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("/duke.jpg");
    byte x[] = new byte[inputStream.available()];
    inputStream.read(x);
    ByteArrayOutputStream ostr = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    ServletOutputStream outputStream = response.getOutputStream();
    ostr.write(x);
    ostr.writeTo(outputStream);
    inputStream.close();
    outputStream.close();
    ostr.close();
    } catch (java.net.MalformedURLException e) {
    System.out.println( "URL: " + e.toString() );
    } catch (java.io.IOException e) {
    System.out.println("IO: no Jar! searching ..." );
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e.toString());
    When duke.jpg is in web application's root, both
    InputStream inputStream = ImageServlet.class.getResourceAsStream("/duke.jpg");
    and
    InputStream inputStream = getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("/duke.jpg");
    works fine.
    But when I delete it from web application's root and instead have it in a jar file in WEB-INF/lib, it doesn't work. It just gives me a broken image (doesn't throw an Exception).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Saravanan

    Well, it should work, as long as you truly do have those SP jars ahead in the correct classpath parts (boot goes into the normal classpath, and the other one goes into the -Dweblogic.class.path (or something like that) command-line parameter). It works for me, and I know for a fact that in service pack 8 and below it's broken (don't know about service pack 9), and it got fixed in service pack 10. Sounds simple, but make certain your service pack jar files are in the directory specified in the classpath(s), and spelled correctly - you know it won't give you an error to let you know if you mistyped something, like if you included "nonexistent.jar" for example.

  • Boot image does not exist and cannot read disk label errors.

    Hi - I'm having a problem with installing Solaris 9 4/04 on a Netra T1. The Netra already has Solaris 7. I need to get this set up as a jumpstart server but it can't find the boot image. (Oh - and another strange thing - like I said the CDs are the original but there doesn't appear to be a cdrom/cdrom0/s0 directory. The directory I see is cdrom/cdrom0/sol_9_404_sparc/Solaris_9/Tools)

    Hi check that you are booting of the right cd. Make sure it is soalris 9 software 1/2 if that fails then it may well be that your cd is buggered. most likely it is buggered it it cant find the boot image.
