Problem regarding Configuring the File Adapter

Hi,
I am making a Flat File to XML File Scenario. I have made all the Necessary developments and the Routings in the Integration Repository and the Integration Directory. The Sender Communication Channel Uses the Message Protocol "File Content Conversion". All the required steps have been done. We have installed the System and also the Basis Team has done the Post Installation Activities.
<b> The Problem is that the "File is not getting picked up". When checking the RWB and henceforth the Adapter Monitoring we see that the File Adapter is disabled and the XI and the BC adapters are green. Previously we were on SP9 and now we are on SP14. The SAP Basis is at 640 and SP9 and the SAP ABAB is on 640 and SP9.</b>
  We are also unavailable to see the File Communication Channels that we have created. When the Tcode "sxi_cache is run it is giving an error that Cache not refreshed andon refreshing various times too the Cache is not Refreshed.
Please Suggest us what we should do. Eagerly waiting for a reply and Thanking in Anticipation. Do we need to make some for configurations for that.
Warm Regards
Chakra and Somnath

Hi Somnath,
If the sender file adapter is up and running and even after that if you find some problem, the first thing you need to do is check if your file has been picked. The easiest way to check the same is to set the mode to DELETE, that is the file gets deleted as soon as it is picked. If your file has not been picked then the reasons for the same could be the following.
- The path that you specified while configuring the sender communication channel would have been wrong.
- While specifying the file name take care as it is case sensitive.
- If you require content conversion then make sure that the parameters entered at the time of configuration are all correct.
Please go thru the following links to get a very clear picture of your requirement.

Also make sure that your content conversion is in sequence wrt Datat Type Sturcture.

  • "Performance" problems with the File adapter on Plain J2SE Adapter Engine

    Hi,
    At the moment I'm on a customer side to solve some XI issues for a few days. One of the issues is the performance of the Plain J2SE Adapter Engine, using the file adapter to transfer XML messages(already XI message format) from the legacy system to the Integration Engine. The File adapter has to deal with "large" XML messages(max at the moment is 65 Mb) and the engine fails with the following error when transferring the big XML file: "ERROR: Finished sending to Integration Engine with error "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError". Skip confirmation and quit this loop".
    As far I got the information from the customer the memory use of the Plain adapter engine is set to 512Mb. This is maybe to low. But I don't know where to look for this, I only have the adapter web interface in front of me, no access to the OS it self via for example remote connection.
    On the Integration Engine I know there is the ability to split large message with the file adapter(File Content Conversion), but I don't know this for the Plain Adapter Engine. Is there a possibility to do this also on the Plain Adapter Engine?
    Thanks in advance for any input.
    Greetings,
    Patrick

    Hi Sameer,
    Thanks for your answers.
    On the first solution, yes that is possible, we first decided to see if the legacy system can do the splitting, before starting developing a Java program.
    On the second solution, as far as I know is this solution possible on the Integration Engine. But we are facing the problems on the Plain J2SE Adapter Engine. I went trough that documentation(link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6f/246b3de666930fe10000000a114084/frameset.htm ), to look for I similiar solution in the Plain Adapter Engine. So my question is, is this possible with the Plain Adapter? And if so, what kind of parameters I need to use to achieve this.

  • Problem With Receiver Communication (File Adapter)

    Hi,
    My SAP XI Version is 3.0 with Service Pack 7,I have a strange problem,
    I have a flat file coming from Unix system,I need to convert this into  XML and put a copy in the Archive mode and send the XML file,getting it converted into flat file format send it to the receiver.Here I have to do the content Conversion,So,I have done content conversion while configuring Sender and Receiver Communication Channel.
    I am using NFS as Transport Proctocol.So, everthing was fine when i run the scenario,after activating.The Sender communication Channel is Archiving the files.But I am unable to see any file with receiver communication channel.
    So,for this I have checked up with Adapter monitoring in Runtime Workbench. In my File Adapter My Sender as well as Receiver Communication Channels are in Green.They are mentioning that Sender Communction is sucessful and
    RECEIVER COMMUNICATION IS Sucessful but no messages processed.
    Can any one suggest what to do now.Everything is fine with Content conversion and Unix System.But my receiver is not receiving any messages.
    Should any OSS notice or patch work needs to be applied.
    Thank You,
    KishoreJ.

    Hi Kishore,
    I Guess you should first see if the file is being picked......for that do the following.
    While configuring your Sender File Adapter, let the mode be DELETE. This way, we will know if the file is being picked by the File adapter. The file will be deleted and you can be sure that it has been picked up.
    Next, look into the RWB--> FILE ADAPTER and see the log of the file adapter
    and also, you can see the flow of your message in the integration engine in SXMB_MONI.
    Ans still if your message is not showing up in SXMB_MONI, please do as explained below.
    Increase logging and trace level in:
    SXMB_ADM -> Integration Engine Configuration -> Specific Configuration
    Also create entries as follows in it:
    LOGGING = 1
    LOGGING_SYNC = 1
    TRACE_LEVEL = 3
    TRACE_LEVEL_PROPAGATION = 1
    Also refer XI: I cannot see some of my messages in the SXMB_MONI

  • Can I use the File Adapter to transfer files from/to my own PC

    Hello,
    Would it be possible to set tu the file adapter to send or receive files from my own PC's file system?
    For example I would like to transfer a file from my PC to PI instead of using PI's file system?
    Can I do that?
    Thanks
    Marcelo

    If your PC has Windows-based system, SAP XI is Unix-based, you have a problem: Unix can't connect to UNC-path - Unix doesn't understand path like this "
    mywindowspc\myfilesharefolder\", and Windows can't mount unix-drives. There are has a tool that can mount Windows UNC-file-share on NTFS like dirive UnixFS - but this tool is not freeware and has a problem when you switch off your PC without unmounting your Windows-dirives on Unix system. You can use a SAMBA, but Admins doesn't like to install this to Unix...
    So, if you want to use a File Adapter you can set only FTP path, create FTP-site on your own PC, and so on...
    Another way to send information from/to your own PC is "Plain J2SE Adapter Engine". This is a standalone part of SAP XI, you install it on your PC, configures URL of XI pipline, sets local folders to transfer from/to your PC, masks and types of your files, time to sending, any rules and DOS-commands for "before/after sending and receiving" and so on...
    In case of sending files from PC to XI, files transforms to XI-payload inside this Adapter Engine and then goes like XI-message to pipeline... When you send it back, payloads come to this Adapter Engine and transform to files on your PC.
    I used this Plain J2SE AE on my working notebook for checking sending messages to many different XI Systems.

  • The file adapter takes also the mark of the beginning of the file as a char

    Hi guys,
    I need to use the file adapter for sending data into XI.
    My first column of the CSV file contain ID of the objects of length 8 chars. But when the adapter takes also the beginning of the file, the length starts to be 9 chars.
    How is it possible to disallow to take this mark?
    I didn't find any parameter in the file adapter settings, which could solve this problem.
    Thanx for answer! (Points guaranteed )
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
             While configuring sender file adapter, you can do the following.
           1. While defining Parameters for Recordset Structures , you can make use of the recordsetstrucure.beginSeparator function which will take the first string in the file as a begin seperator.
      i guess this would help you.

  • Cannot process a Fixed Field Length file using the File Adapter (Sender)

    Hi -
    I have checked throughout these posts and blogs but I still have not been able to find a solution to my issue.  When using the File Adapter (Sender) I get a Conversion initialization failed with "xml.keyfieldName", no value found.  Why would I require a key field when I am using fixed field lenghts?  The file is comprised of 2 structures - 1 header and multiple details (see below).  There are no key fields in the flat file that I would be able to use.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    you can use the module from which u can convert your structure to
    H011000390 Customer Americas 20080605164317 000000000000000800000008000000000016000000

    D12345678 100501 100501 Supplier 2 0000000000052000002008042100
    Please note the extra H,D in the struture added by the module.
    You can then use them as your key fieldValues.. The module should be deployed in Visual Admin and then can be used in the Module tab of your adapter CC
    While writing the content conversion after that please dont forget about the added new characters
    Please note also that i can find that the word supplier kept repeating in all the Dtachkp records
    Please use that
    Also if you feel that the field is of 13 characters and that would cause a problem dont worry... create a dummy field eg split tht 13 to two fields and use the common one as key field Value and identifier... as i see in ure case its like 500 Supplier , 502 Supplier . u can split the first 4 char and the remaing 9 char are key field value.
    try this out

  • How to dump configuration of File adapter

    Hello,
    Can any body help me out for preparing configuration dump (no screenshot) of the
    respective communication channel, esp. with Sender FILE Adapter.
    Best regards,
    Jilan Bhasha

    Hi Jilan -
    For the file adapter, you can get a text dump of the configuration at the following location:
    <i><sapmnt>/<SID>/DVEBMGS<XX>/j2ee/cluster/server<X>\log\services\com.sap.aii.adapter.file.svc</i>
    <sapmnt> is usually <i>/usr/sap</i>
    Obviously, you need file system access.  If you don't have it, ask your basis team.
    You can do this for the JDBC adapter as well.
    See Note 824236 for more details.

  • Configuring the SOAP Adapter

    Hi Folks,
    I have a sceanrio where an AXIS client needs to talk to the XI SOAP Adapter.
    How do I configure the SOAP adapter?
    I tried to access the help docs for configuring the SOAP adapter. I understand that the adapter depends upon the plain J2SE Adapter Engine which should be available on port 8000.
    But when I try to access
    http://<hostname>:8000 I get an access denied error
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance,
    Shailesh

    Hi Shailesh,
    Maybe your 8000 Port is in Use. So you can chance the port to 8200 or something else.
    You Change port in "GUIBrowserEngine.properties" file.
    And try to patch the Plain J2SE Adapter Engine with "SP 10 for XI Connectivity SE 3.0"

  • Configuring Receiver File Adapter for J2SE

    Hi All,
    I have a scenario in which i need to convert the IDOC data into a fixed length file.
    I did mapping according to the output structure of the file.
    My Output file format is as follows...
    Document1          document2      document3      etc
    Each document contains different fields with different lengths
    In XI-FIle adapter we give Recordset structure : Document1,Document2,Document3.
    But while configuring Receiver File adapter in J2SE.
    There is no option mentioned in J2SE Adapter.
    <b>http://saphelp.border-states.com/EN/95/bb623c6369f454e10000000a114084/content.htm</b>
    Please throw some light on the same.
    Thank You
    Regards,
    Reehan

    as far as i read the document, what i understood is that the J2SE adapter has a limitation.
    your XML structure should be as mention in the link;
    <i>To convert a table in XML format to pure text format, the document format must be the same as that which is generated by the sender file/FTP adapter in mode FILE2XMBWITHROWCONVERSION <i>(with the default value <row> for the structure)</i> and the sender JDBC adapter. This means that the document structure looks like this:
    <resultset>
    <row>
    <column-name1>column-value</column-name1>
    <column-name2>column-value</column-name2>
    <column-name3>column-value</column-name3>
    </row>
    <row>
    <column-name1>column-value</column-name1>
    <column-name2>column-value</column-name2>
    <column-name3>column-value</column-name3>
    </row>
    </resultset>
    This is an example for 3 columns and 2 lines. The number of lines and columns is, of course, unlimited. <b>The XML elements in italics can be defined by the user and the elements of a line must be grouped within an element of type <row> … </row></b>.</i>
    So cannot take the <b>recordset structure</b> as we have for the normal File adapter.

  • Configuring the file server in KM and access,edit the documents from it

    Hi friends,
      My requirement is to configure the file server where u will have all the structured and unstructured data stored here. So users can share the documents and create, edit ,save the documents from the file server itself.
    In KM what kind of file servers are there apart from the one it supports by default.
    Can anybody pls provide the configuration steps regarding how to configure the file server i KM.
    To configure the file server is webDAV protocol required?
    Points would be assigned for the helpful answer.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Sireesha.

    Dear Sireesha,
    Well KM supports mostly all the File server however we have some restrictions with Novell FS and Sharepoint Server from Microsoft. Like versions and other meta data have some issues.
    Alsothough to configure a File Server you need to first create a FS repository Manager. Details can be found in the help guide:
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e3/92322ab24e11d5993800508b6b8b11/frameset.htm">FS Repository Manager</a>
    Yes WebDAV protocol is required here.
    You can create WebDav RM as well.

  • Can I use a schema with no targetnamespace with the file adapter?

    I am loading a file using a file adapter configured to use an xsd from a third party, the third party controls the xsd and incoming xml and does not have a targetnamespace defined in the xsd or xml.
    When I define a file adapter for it the wizard indicates that I need to fix the xsd by adding a namespace. I dont have control over the xsd or xml as they are an external party.
    I think I can hand edit the wsdl and change the import statement that requires a namespace to an include statement with no namespace.
    Have you run into this before? Will that work?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,
    Did we get any solution for this ?
    Even in our case, the third party controls the xsd & incoming xml message. Both does not have a targetnamespace defined. The file adapter wizard indicates that we need to fix the xsd by adding a namespace. As a workaround, we manually added the target namespace to xsd and created file adapater. Now the question is how do we automatically add the name space in xml message as well, so that it can be parsed by BPEL process

  • Problem while dowloading the file from Application Server

    Dear Experts,
                 I am facing the Problem while downloading the file from Application server.
    We done the automatic function while saving the invoice, this will create an idoc, and this idoc is written in the Application Server.
    I am running the Transaction AL11 and select the record, and from menu --> List, i am downloading into TXT format.
    But for some segments, the length is long, and so the last 3 to 4 fields values are not appearing in the File. Even though i am unable to view the values in the file before downloading. But i can view in IDOC.
    Please help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Srini

    but our user will use the Txn. AL11 and they will download from there
    Educate the user On a serious note, tell him this is not how data from app server should be downloaded. You can ask him to talk to the basis team to provide him access to the app server folder where the file is being stored.
    I can set the Variant and put this in background, But always the file name will be change, Like we use Time stamp in the File name.
    You can't automate this process by scheduling in BG mode. This is because the in BG mode you can't dwld the file to presentation server.
    Hope i'm clear.

  • How can I read different files in the file adapter

    Hi,
    I have a scenario like file(content conversion and FTP) to Proxy and need to read 2 files which have different structures.
    The file structures is as follows.
    FileA.txt
    EMPID, Designtion,code,DOB,dept,deptID and 13 fields etc..
    FileB.txt
    officercode, dept,workspecs,FLAGarm,FLAGfoot and 27 fields etc.
    Both files needs to be read by the file adapter at same time and should send to the proxy to feed in ECC.
    Please help me in designing the above scenario with or without BPM.
    Thanks
    Manmadha

    Hello,
    Since u want to combine the two files from sender , you need to use BPM for it.
    First of all create Mapping. In your mapping program go to messages tab and add the two source messages types and in the target add the target message type. Come to your design tab and design the mappings.
    BPM:
    -- Insert Fork with two branches necessary condition. In first branch insert Receive step and check start process checkbox.
    --In second branch insert Receive step and check start process checkbox.
    -- Insert Transformation step after Fork branch step.
    -- Insert Send step [the outcome of transformation step needs to be send]
    Design the above structure, if you have any doubts, dp reply back.
    Best regards,
    raj.
