  • Calling a method in the Custom ADF component from JSF page

    HI.
    I have created some custom compoents by extending the core ADF Components. Like i have a ComboBoxDefault component with it's ComboBoxDefaultTag.java and Controls.tld file.
    Now my requirement is i want to bind my label to this component from the JSF page. like
    <fwcontrols:label binding="#{listComponents.comboBoxDefaultLabel}" id="label1"/>
    <fwcontrols:comboBoxDefault binding="#{listComponents.cmbLocales}"
    value="en_GB" id="comboBoxDefault" autoSubmit="true" label="label1">
    <f:selectItems value="#{listComponents.locales}"/>
    </fwcontrols:comboBoxDefault>
    In my JSF page the label will have an id, and that id will be specified in the label tag of the component.
    In Tag.java file i have overrided the setProperty(FacesBean facesBean). In this method i have bind all my properties. In core JSF the setProperty method is provided with the UIComponent parameter, so i can call my method in component also. Which is not in case of ADF Faces.
    My main point is how i can call my method setLabel() which is in ComboBoxDefault.java so that i can set the label.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Thanks for all your replies. I want this kind of a functionality because Im trying to invove a DC (Child DC) from a Parent DC such that the Child DC's view is displayed onto the view container of the Parent DC. I have embedded using 'interface view of a component instance' in the Parent Window and am able to create the component and set usage though the onPlugDefault of the Child View.
    But I observe that when i make a call from the parent, the flow is like this:
    1. The wdDoInit of the Child Component Controller gets triggered first.
    2. Then the wdDoInit of the Child's <b>VIEW</b> gets triggered
    3. and <b>THEN</b> the onPlugDefault of the Child Component Interface View
    What I had actually wanted was to Fire onPlugDefault where Im calling a method LoadData(), after which the Child DC's view must be triggered so it can display the fetched data.
    What is actually happening is the view gets displayed, but no data is displayed in the view.
    Right now I have just given a work around where Im triggering <b>LoadData()</b> of the <b>COmponent COntroller</b> from the <b>wdDoInit</b> of the <b>VIEW</b>.
    Is there a better way to do this? I find it strange that I have to load the Data from the view.
    Thanks

  • Problem rendering IBM date component JSF

    Hi All,
    First of all i would like to thank you all for your previous valuable suggestions. Currently iam working on a JSF page in which i need to use a Date picker component of IBM.
    I used the following code snippet

    <body>
    <hx:scriptCollector id="scriptCollector1">
    <h:form id="propertyForm" styleClass="content">
    <h:inputText id="completionDate" size="14" value="#{propertyCoverageABean.propertyCoverageView.completionDate}" rendered="#{(sessionState.currentPolicy.newBusiness || sessionState.currentPolicy.endorsement) && (propertyCoverageABean.propertyCoverageView.typeOfConstructionProject eq 'REM')}" styleClass="inputText">
    <f:convertDateTime type="date" pattern="MM/dd/yyyy" />
    <hx:inputHelperDatePicker rendered="true" />
    <hx:inputHelperAssist autoTab="true" inputAssist="true" />

  • Problem with opening PDF files from JSF page using SDO

    Hi all,
    I'm new with JSF and was attempting to read a PDF file from a Database using SDO and JSF. The code below throws an exception when casting from DataObject to Blob. The getLcDoc() method was created by WSAD when I dragged an SDO relational record onto the JSF page. This method returns an DataObject type which I tried casting to a Blob type before using it further. However, an exception is thrown.
    Any feedback is appreciated.

                   HttpServletResponse response =(HttpServletResponse) faces.getExternalContext().getResponse();

    Hi...I found out that there is actually no need to use a Blob object at all. You can simply call the OutputStreams write() method and pass the DataObject.getBytes() method that returns a byte[] array. The revised code is shown at the end of this posting.
    However, a few other teething problems exist:
    1. This works well only if I specify the content type in response.setHeader() method. What if my users upload different types of files, is there a way that the browser opens according to the file type without setting the content type?
    2. I still have a problem opening PDF files, even if I specify - response.setHeader("Content-type", "application/pdf");
    I get the message - The file is damaged and could not be repaired
    3. I would also like this to open the attachment in a new window and using target="_blank" doesn't seem to work as seen below:
    <h:commandLink
                                                 styleClass="commandLink" id="link1" action="#{pc_DocumentDetailsRead.doLink1Action}" target="_blank">
                                                 <h:outputText id="text5" styleClass="outputText"
                                                      value="Click Here"></h:outputText>
                                            </h:commandLink>
    ------------------------Revised code-----------------------------------------
    FacesContext faces = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
                   HttpServletResponse response =(HttpServletResponse) faces.getExternalContext().getResponse();
                   response.setHeader("Content-type", "application/msword");
                   response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=Attachment");
                   response.setHeader("Expires","0");
                   response.setHeader("Cache-Control","must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0");
                   response.setHeader("Pragma","public");
                   ServletOutputStream os = response.getOutputStream();
                   os.write(getLcDoc().getBytes("ATTACH"));
                   os.flush();
                   os.close();

  • Problem Extending the  Dialog component from Flex

    Hi,
    First of all make sure you compile your Flex project with Flex SDK 2.0.1 Hotfix 3?
    In the Add-on Packager carefully check your classname (the full class path + class name) because Xcelsius creates an instance of that class when you drag the add-on onto the canvas, so if it doesn't create anything usually it means your classname is wrong in the packager.
    In your case:
    com.component.xcelsius.component.ErrorMessageHandler
    If none of that works try extending from VBox as the top-level add-on class instead and see if that works (I have never tried with a TitleWindow).

    Hi,
    the problem seems to be connection to the database or may be database URL is incorrect.
    The problem can be solved via the Visual Administrator or by a manual modification of the data-sources.xml file.
    Visual Administrator --> Server --> Services  -->  JDBC Connector -->Select DataSource
    Change the URL given in the Database URL field with the appropriate one & save it.

  • InputText: onchange attribute not rendered anymore from JSF 1.2.08?

    Hi!
    Recently I have tried upgrading from 1.2.04 (the version that comes with Glassfish v2ur2 which we are using) to 1.2.13. (Then, when I encountered the problem, only to 1.2.08, but it stayed the same.) To my astonishment, from then on the 'onchange' attribute of at least the h:inputText tag wasn't rendered in HTML anymore!
    I.e. when I write something like this:
    <h:inputText ... onchange="myOnchange(this)" id="myId" />
    it will render as
    <input type="text" id="form1:myId" ... /> <!-- onchange simply skipped! -->
    whereas in the version 1.2.04 it rendered as
    <input type="text" id="form1:myId" onchange="myOnchange(this)" ... />
    I have compared the tld files and the onchange attribute is specified for the inputText tag, it is also there as a member in the tag handler class. Still, it is not getting rendered.
    Is this a bug in versions above 1.2.04 or am I doing something wrong? The way I upgraded is as described in the release notes: simply copied over jsf-impl.jar and jsf-api.jar into GLASSFISH_HOME/lib (thus overwriting the original jsf-impl.jar in that directory), then restarted the container. (I didn't modify domain.xml to add jsf-api.jar to the classpath, though, because our project actually copies over these jars into its own lib and uses those.)
    Thanks,
    Agoston

    Oops, sorry, my fault! :( I didn't remember whether I've already posted it.
    (All I can say in my defence is that I haven't found any option in the forum search which would have enabled me to search for my own posts.)
    Thanks for the original answer!

  • Problem migrating from JSF Mojarra 1.2 to 2.0

    As my subject suggests, I am having a problem migrating from JSF 1.2 to JSF 2.0.
    As a first step, all that I had done was to replace both 'jsf-api.jar' and 'jsf-impl.jar' with the newer version 2.0 and restart my server.

    The error message goes as below:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.faces.taglib.jsf_core.BeanValidatorTagIs it in classpath? Exception says it is not.
    Don't you have some JSF 1.2 libraries around somewhere else in classpath? Appserver/lib? JDK/lib? Etc. You might have a mix of JSF 1.2 and JSF 2.0 in the classpath and the exception is just been caused by this collision.

  • Can't instantiate JSF Custom Component

    I'm hoping some of you expert (or at least seasoned) JSF custom component developers might be able to lend some insight into the "Can't instantiate class" problem. I have a custom component which extends another component (which happens to be Oracle ADF's panelGroup), and I've verified that everything is in place:
    1. Component class uses correct component type referenced by faces-config.xml and tag class
    2. Renderer type referenced in faces-config.xml matches that of the renderer type in component class
    3. There is a default constructor (no args) for the component class, which also sets the renderer type
    4. TLD with tag is correct
    All classes are definitely in the classpath, as I have another custom component in the same packages which loads and is used just fine.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    So, is no one else having any problems when using the new JSF components from Java Studio Creator 2 in their existing projects? I can make simple projects in Creator and run them on PointBase and Tomcat and can deploy and run from Eclipse using MyEclipse but I cannot get my existing project working and I am wondering if their is some sort of conflict between the new JSF components and legacy Struts stuff in that project or if perhaps Spring is someone interferering. Kind of at a loss right now...

  • JSF custom component

    Hi
    I have created a JSF cutom component , which has some javascript files. If i use the component within the same project my path for accessing the JS files is :- js/task.js (Its in public/html folder) .
    My problem is that when I use this custom component in some other project i am not able to access the js file ( Js file are deployed with other source file in ADF Library Jar) . As I have to hard code the path of JS files in the render can any one please tell me what will be the path for accessing the JS files.
    i heard ADFLibraryFilter is used for the purpose. Anyone please shed more light on it.

    Thanx Frank for your help .
    I am generating html from the rendererm, in the encodeBegin method i have now written <script type="text/javascript" src="adflibResources/js/task.js"></script>
    But still the script isn't loading on the page
    I added the following code in web.xml but Jdeveloper (Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.1.0) is complaining that "refernce oracle.adf.library.webapp.LibraryFilter and oracle.adf.library.webapp.ResourceServlet not found. I am using Fusion Web Application (ADF) as the application template.
    <filter>
    <filter-name>ADFLibraryFilter</filter-name>
    <filter-class>oracle.adf.library.webapp.LibraryFilter</filter-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>provider-lazy-inited</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>ADFLibraryFilter</filter-name>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
    <dispatcher>FORWARD</dispatcher>
    <dispatcher>REQUEST</dispatcher>
    </filter-mapping>
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>adflibResources</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>oracle.adf.library.webapp.ResourceServlet</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>adflibResources</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/adflib/*</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

  • JSF custom component: value not binding to component

    I have a custom UIInput component which is not able to bind to the value of the component from a backing bean. Here is the JSF code snippet:
    <tw:validateInputText id="locationIdStopInput" table="location" column="location" styleClass="wideSingleInput" value="#{currentStop.customer.customer}" rendered="#{loadTypeView.renderWarehouse or (currentStop.stopNumber gt 1 and loadTypeView.renderOutbound) or (currentStop.stopNumber eq 1 and loadTypeView.renderInbound)}"/>
    tw is the custom tag and validateInputText is the custom UiInput component.
    On posting the form the decode method is not able to get the value from the requestParameter map. Following is the decode() I wrote:
    public void decode(FacesContext context,
    UIComponent component) {
    // assertValidInput(context, component);
    if (context == null || component == null) {
    throw new NullPointerException();
    ValidateInputTextComponent map = (ValidateInputTextComponent) component;
    String key = map.getId();
    if (component instanceof UIInput) {
    UIInput input = (UIInput) component;
    String clientId = input
    .getClientId(context);
    Map requestMap = context
    .getExternalContext()
    .getRequestParameterMap();
    String newValue = (String) requestMap
    .get(clientId);
    if (null != newValue) {
    input.setSubmittedValue(newValue);
    Also providing the setProperties() from the custom tag class:
    protected void setProperties(UIComponent component){
    super.setProperties(component);
    if (getValue()!=null){
    if (isValueReference(getValue())){
    ValueBinding vbTarget = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().
    createValueBinding(getValue());
    component.setValueBinding(VB_VALUE, vbTarget);
    System.out.println(component.getValueBinding("value").getValue(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance()));
    } else{
    ((UIInput) component).setValue(value);
    // component.getAttributes().put("value",getValue());
    if (getCompValue()!=null){
    if (isValueReference(getCompValue())){
    ValueBinding vbCompTarget = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().
    createValueBinding(getCompValue());
    component.setValueBinding(VB_COMPONENT_VALUE, vbCompTarget);
    } else{
    // ((UIInput) component).setValue(compValue);
    component.getAttributes().put(VB_COMPONENT_VALUE,getCompValue());
    if (getTable() != null && isValueReference(getTable())){
    ValueBinding vbTable = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().
    createValueBinding(getTable());
    component.setValueBinding(VB_TABLE, vbTable);
    } else{
    component.getAttributes().put(VB_TABLE, getTable());
    if (getColumn() != null && isValueReference(getColumn())){
    ValueBinding vbColumn = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().
    createValueBinding(getColumn());
    component.setValueBinding(VB_COLUMN, vbColumn);
    } else{
    component.getAttributes().put(VB_COLUMN,getColumn());
    if (getStyleClass() != null && isValueReference(getStyleClass())){
    ValueBinding vbClass = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().
    createValueBinding(getStyleClass());
    component.setValueBinding(VB_STYLE_CLASS, vbClass);
    } else{
    component.getAttributes().put(VB_STYLE_CLASS, getStyleClass());
    if(getRendered() != null && isValueReference(getRendered())){
    ValueBinding vbRendered = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().
    createValueBinding(getRendered());
    component.setValueBinding(VB_RENDERED, vbRendered);
    } else{
    Boolean a = new Boolean(getRendered());
    component.getAttributes().put(VB_RENDERED, new Boolean(getRendered()));
    Please let me know If I am missing something here to retrieve the value from the component.
    Thanks

  • FileUpload component for jsf 1.1 RI

    I have a serious problem with finding working component for file upload
    i can't upgrade to jsf 1.2 i must use 1.1 RI
    I tired tomahawk comonent same as here: http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2005/07/13/jsfupload.html?page=last
    but i doesn't work because uploaded file is always null because of enctype="multipart/form-data" in form element, same problem as somebody in comments.
    Then I tried ADF faces such as here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/installation.html#Dependencies
    and here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/devguide/fileUpload.html
    but i didn't managed to get throught configuration because i can't find adfshare.jar anywhere, it is not included in adf-faces-10_1_3_0_4.zip and I need oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter whitch is propably in the missing jar. This result as 404 error for all jsf pages :(
    Does anyone managed to get somehow working file upload component with netbeans 5.5, tomcat 5.5 jsf 1.1 RI.
    Pleas help.

    It might be bad form to push your own library, but. :P
    You might check out the RI Sandbox, which has a calendar component. It should work in 1.1, but, if it doesn't, let me know and I'll make sure it does. :)
