Problem Slideshow in fullscreen

I think this problem is an hard problem however....
Note on my system:
MacMini 1,25 GhZ with OSX 10.4.4, iPhoto 5.0.4 and the monitor is a TV LCD 32" 16:9 linked with DVI
After upgrade to iPhoto 5.0.2 when launch slideshow in fullscreen my photos (in format 4:3) are displayed like 16:9 format.
The image in slideshow is low and large!!
This is a BIG problem!!
Anybody know a solution or anybody have this problem?

Thank you for your reply
The interesting thing about this problem, Barbara is that when using or following the options within this function, adding audio was one of the obvious options offered by the buttons.  In fact I have to say that it appeared to work sometimes with a smaller audio file of the same format (albeit not reliably).  I guess the question boils down to is: since there is a "trim audio" option, where you can slide the endpoint of the audio track toward the beginning to reduce the time of the audio playback; does this actually reduce the file size of the audio file that is incorporated in the PDF file along with the images?

  • Problem with the fullscreen setting in Mountain lion

    Hi, I am experiencing a problem with the full screen setting of my Mountain Lion. The trouble is that when I run certain apps such as Zotero or Scrivener and I open, say, the preferences window, this is automatically set in fullscreen, although it should not be. I have already got in contact with the Scrivener team and they suggested that was a problem related to one of the apps I use to manage my windows, i.e. RIghtzoom and Window Tidy. Following up this suggestion I uninstalled and restarted my laptop, but nothing has changed. I wonder if anyone has already experienced this problem or if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

  • Problem going to fullscreen after loading AS2 movie into AS3

    I've got a loader movie that is written in AS3, and
    fullscreen is enabled. I have a context-menu fullscreen trigger and
    a keypress fullscreen trigger built into the loader movie. When I
    load an AS3 movie or an AS1 movie through the loader movie, I can
    go to fullscreen without problems. When I load the AS2 movie, I
    cannot.
    Does anyone have an idea why this might be? I'm struggling.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your help, but as said ("But also using a
    separated second loader to load the second file is not working.")
    even when using a second loader (with a different name) the second
    file loaded will not work.
    I'm removing any EventListener from the first loader,
    unloading and then nulling it.
    But to me it seems, that the first content is not garbage
    collected and because of that, even when loaded with an other
    loader the first loaded swf-file interferes with the second.
    I came to this conclusion, because the first loaded swf-file
    is still working after trying to load the second file. And just
    more weird: the first loaded file is in the same state and also
    after closing the Flash-Player.
    You can see it for yourself: download the testcase. Start the
    testcase.swf. Load a contentfile. Skip a few pages. Quit the Flash
    Player. Start the testcase.swf again and load the same contentfile.
    You will see it's at the same position like before quiting the
    Player.
    And I can't help, but that seems like a bug to me...

  • SB audigy 2 microphone problems when running fullscreened a

    Sounds odd, but here is the deal.
    Drivers works perfectly, nothing strange, thing is, im using Ventrilo(voice chat prog.) pretty much and here it comes:
    ?the other people cant hear me when im tabbed into a fullscreen game or any other fullscreen application, as soon as i tab out (app/game still running) they can hear me.
    I've tried to disable the built in soundcard on the motherboard, same thing, tried tons of differnt drivers (if they gainst all odds are failing) same thing. I have tried to change settings for EAX, spdid etc etc and still the same problem. Tried loads of different settings in ventrilo aswell.
    Im running Vista64.
    Im running out of ideas now and hopefully someone has a clue of what it can be or anything to try.

    A friend of mine had the exact same problem after he reinstalled windows. (And installed SB drivers from CD)
    He installed the latest SB drivers and the problem went away.
    Now i ofcourse dont know if you allready have the latest drivers.
    But thats one solution to the problem i've found.

  • Problem viewing iMovie fullscreen

    I have built iMovies using images sized within 1024 pixels in width and 768 pixles in height.  These images have a stroke around them which is 6 pixels in width.
    When I view them fullscreen in Preview they are fine.  When I view them in an iMovie project at fullscreen, the right edge is missing a few pixels an ends in a weird multicolor very narrow strip (perhaps 2 pixels wide).  When compared the other three sides have the identical stroke visible.  The right edge has a slightly narrower stroke with the odd discoloration at the outside edge.
    What could be going on?
    Mary Lou
    PS:  I have viewed the same problem when images are projected via other software during a Camera Club competition.

    I've done a bit of "research" to see if I could add any further information.  I viewed the iMovie under question and when I saw the problem, I took screenshots of the left and right hand edges for comparison.
    When I viewed them in Photoshop elements, the problem doesn't show up until I view the screenshots at 100%.
    I will attach an example of the left and right edges that show the problem but they must be veiwed at 100% or full screen to see it.
    I hope this helps.

  • Linkable quicktime problems, + itunes, no fullscreen w/ flash

    2 part question. 1. Has anybody made HREFTrack chapter files work in the new quicktime pro? Mine will not let me rename tracks "HREFTrack" from "text track". also, there is a lot of talk about targeting browser windows from these tracks but I only see examples for frames. In the age of Itunes I don't think anybody cares about frames. Has anybody made this work?
    2nd part, same thought: I've been able to make clickable quicktime using a flash layer over a regular quicktime movie. Whether i do the whole screen transparent or just float a clickable button itunes refuses to play it fullscreen or in the "medium screen" that you normally get when you click a movie playing in Itunes. Does anybody have an explanation for this behavior?
    Thank you,
    DC
    HP   Windows XP Pro

    The HREFTrack issue is known. And, from what I've read, will be addressed in the next update release (PC user hope).
    Your Flash layer may only work outside of the browser window (QT Player has no control over the browser plug-in).
    If you set a href targeting the quicktimeplayer I'll bet your Flash track controller would work just fine.
    An example of a QT file (set to present full screen) via a Poster movie:
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/mycareerfuture/
    A tiny (1.3MB) file that calls the QuickTime Player (and the properties found in the .mov file) so that the viewer gets a full screen playback.

  • Custom Slideshow Application Possible?

    Hey, new developer here, looking to make things using Xcode. Have a question I'd like awnsered if possible.
    I was looking for a slideshow app with some specific functions and couldn't find it. So I decided I might as well program one myself.
    I am just wondering if the application I am about to describe is possible to make and if so what the best way is to go about it (tips?).
    I often have to showcase slideshow at meetings, but they are quite in the background. So they go on for a while, basicly on loop until the meeting is done. I have no problem with it, only that the randomizing of the slideshow is not what I want exactly. So now I'm going to list the specifications I would need from a slideshow program, I currently am using Phoenix Slides.
    -Needs to be able to load a lot of pictures rather quickly (phoenix slides is a good example).
    -Has to be able to randomize the slides in the slideshow and the time between the slides must be able to be adjusted. Would like a transition effect if possible.
    -Loop functionality, able to scale up images and a background color for the slideshow.
    -Fullscreen fuctionality!
    -File viewer so I can select the directory where the images are that I want to use in the slideshow.
    Now here's the part that puts this slideshow app apart from others. The best way to explain what I need is through an example. I basicly need to be able to show pictures of products and slides with information about the products. This is all fine, except that the randomize function of a slideshow isn't exactly what I want. I often have the problem that the interval between the pictures and informational slides is not very good. Sometimes it takes forever to get to a information slide, or sometimes I have 3 after each other.
    So here's what I need, as an example. I would want 14 slides of pictures and every 15th slide should be an information slide. Each group, group 1 being pictures and group 2 information, still randomizes. So every 14 slides are still randomized, and the 15th slides is also randomized. But this way there is a set interval at which information is shown and it isn't repeated right after each other. I'd also like to set the interval between group 1 and group 2.
    There are other functionalities I could use, but this is the main function I need and would make my life a bit easier if I could make an application like this. I just want to know if it is possible to make this, and what's the best way to go about it.
    Much thanks!

    it's not necessary to have the artboard shaped like anything but a rectangle--to make a card like you desire will require having a cutting die made--the cards will be printed and then diecut--build your artboard -- let's say 4.5" wide x 3" high--make a new color called dieline--set it as a spot color--make it 2'x3.5" (standard business card) use the rectangle tool to create a 1/2 point rectangle with the stroke set to 'dieline' and fill set to 'none' (put it in it's own layer-topmost layer) then put your art inside of that area on another layer--then alter the rectangle shape by adding anchor points with the pen tool and moving them to make the shape you desire.
    note: this will be expensive because of the cost of making a die and paying for the diecutting.

  • Export to PDF slideshow - how to remove black bars?

    Hello,
      I'm using PE6.0 and need to output a PDF slideshow, which I have done successfully. HOWEVER, there are black bars on the sides when viewing the slideshow in fullscreen mode. I am assuming this is part of the way Acrobat displays its fullscreen mode. Does anyone know how to get the slideshow to actually display in real fullscreen mode? In other words, how to get it to not show the black bars? Thanks.

    The target size (1440x900) has the same aspect ratio (16:10) as my display, with which I am having the problem with the surrounding black space:
    I have experimented with this for some time now and cannot eliminate the black bars.  In my case they are actually added to the individual slides when the pdf slideshow is created.  Sorry, but I do not have a solution or workaround.

  • Switch to fullscreen in a desktop app which is running windowed

    I have a desktop application that runs with a transparent masked border, so since it's not a fullscreen application i have <fullScreen>false</fullScreen> in the app descriptor. BUT I'd like to be able to switch to fullscreen mode in some instances. I try to do so with:
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
    But this doesn't seem to work. The app is still not fullscreen after issuing that line. I suppose it's because of the descriptor, but if I set  <fullScreen>true</fullScreen> the app will start fullscreen, which I don't necessarily want (usually it's a windowed application with transparent chrome).
    So is this possible?
    Thanks!

    I have a desktop app using <fullScreen>false</fullScreen> in the app descriptor and have no problems switching between fullscreen mode or windowed mode just by setting stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE; or stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.NORMAL;
    There may be something else at play causing the fullscreen mode to fail.

  • IDVD problem with "Show title and comments"

    I am making a DVD for a neighbor. He has given me CDs with scanned old slides. He has over 1000 photos.
    I've got the DVD made in iDVD and everything is fine except in one of the slideshows.
    In iPhoto I have 22 albums of photos. When I'm in iDVD I go to "media" and I drag an album into the theme. After it is there I drag another album into that album I just drug. So what I'm doing is combining 2 albums into one slideshow thus having 11 slideshows in my theme. I then go into each slideshow while in iDVD and add music and go to "settings" and unclick "Show title and comments".
    After I have completed this for all slideshows I watch each slideshow before burning and everything looks fine. After the DVD burns (which takes 5 hours) I again watch the DVD on my television. In the first slideshow, and only the first slideshow, the first half is fine and then when it comes to the pictures that were in the second iPhoto album that I drug in the titles of each photo are coming up on the screen. All of the other 10 slideshows that I combined are just fine.
    I pitched the first DVD and tried to fix this by going into iPhoto and making a separate album that had all the pictures of thos first two initial albums. I then went into iDVD, deleted that problem slideshow and then added the slideshow that I had combined all the photos into that one album. I again make adjustment adding music and going into "settings" and unclick "Show title and comments". I watch the slideshow while in iDVD and everything looks fine.
    I burn another DVD and when I watch it on my television again that first slideshow has the first half of the pictures just fine and then the second half are showing the titles of each photo on the screen.
    Everything else in the DVD looks fine.
    The only other thing that might be of importance is when the DVD is ejected from the burner the screen says:
    "Current Operation"
    "Image Incomplete"
    I click Cancel and then it says:
    "Cleaning Up"
    "Image Incomplete"
    I again click Cancel.
    At this point iDVD freezes and I have to go up under the Apple symbol and do a Force Quit.
    Does anyone have any suggestions? I know I should try to make 2 DVDs out of all these photos instead of 1 but my neighbor was really hoping he could have all of them on 1.
    Thanks in advance for any and all help.

    Just drag them from the iPhoto Trash bin onto the Library icon just above it.

  • IPhoto Slideshows: major loss of quality when passed to iMovie or iDVD

    Problem: Slideshows created in iPhoto and exported to a Quicktime movie lose quality when exported from iMovie or iDVD.
    I've read through many threads in both the iMovie and iDVD forums, and I've done a lot of testing to find the source of my frustration. Now I want to spell out my findings and see how they compare with what others know of this process. I'm posting the thread in this forum because iPhoto seems to be the common denominator.
    I create slideshows in iPhoto, adding Ken Burns effects to each photo individually. I then export the slideshow as a Large (640x480) movie. The resulting movie looks good when played in Quicktime.
    I import the Quicktime movie into iMovie, add some music and themes and then export it. No matter how I export it, the quality greatly suffers.
    I try bypassing iMovie and import the iPhoto-created movie directly to iDVD. I burn the project and the quality of the video suffers.
    As a final test, I create a similar slideshow in Photo to Movie, using pan and zoom effects and music, just like the iMovie project. I export the slideshow to a Quicktime movie and it looks great. I send that movie to iDVD and burn the project -- the quality is much better.
    All this testing tells me that iPhoto's exporting of the slideshow creates some problem when running the movie through iMovie or iDVD. At first I thought it was just the conversion of the video to Quicktime movie and then it being encoded again by iDVD. The thing is that Photo to Movie also creates a Quicktime movie and the result after iDVD is still good. I don't have a real technical explanation for what's going on, but surely somebody does!
    Sorry for the length of this post, but I needed to lay out all of my findings to try and get a good discussion going. Anyone have some insight into all this?
    PowerMac G5 1.8 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Running into the same problems with video books. I created some video books (using iPhoto's book feature and exporting to iDVD) and the Quicktime files don't look good.
    However, I have created some slideshows prior and didn't run into any quality issues. I used the Share - Send to iDVD, but that shouldn't change anything.
    If you hear how to resolve video quality issues, I'd love to know. I haven't yet burned my video books to DVD (just exported to QT), but I'm hoping on the TV from 10+ feet away it will look fine.

  • Fullscreen button in Actionscript 2

    Hi everyone.  I hope someone can help me with this.  I'm having some problems making a fullscreen button in Actionscript 2 that works in a swf file.  You see, this document I'm making isn't going to be going on the web.  It's just going to be shown on a computer at company events.  However, I need a button that makes the document fullscreen, and none of the codes I've tried have seemed to work in the swf.  Here is the current code I'm working with:
    //Don't scale the movie when the stage size changes
    Stage.scaleMode="noScale";
    //Align the stage to the top left
    Stage.align = "TL";
    //Function to toggle between fullscreen and normal size
    //the toggle fullscreen button calls this function when pressed
    function toggleFullScreen(){
        //if normal size, go to fullscreen, else go to normal size
        if(Stage["displayState"]=="normal"){
            Stage["displayState"]="fullScreen";
        }else{
            Stage["displayState"]="normal";
    //Create a listener for each time the Stage is resized
    var resizeListener:Object = new Object();
    //Called each time the stage is resized
    resizeListener.onResize = function () {
        //Move the button to the center of the screen
        toggleFullScreenButton._x=Stage.width/2;
        toggleFullScreenButton._y=Stage.height/2;
    //Add the listener to Stage
    Stage.addListener(resizeListener);

    I got this compiler error:
    Scene=Scene 1, layer=Layer 1, frame=1, Line 20
    Unexpected '}' encountered
    And yes, the instance name on the button is toggleFullScreenButton.  Here is all the AS with your code that I just tried.
    //Don't scale the movie when the stage size changes
    Stage.scaleMode="noScale";
    //Align the stage to the top left
    Stage.align = "TL";
    //Function to toggle between fullscreen and normal size
    //the toggle fullscreen button calls this function when pressed
    function toggleFullScreen(){
        //if normal size, go to fullscreen, else go to normal size
        // add a trace which appears in the output panel when you "TEST" your movie (e.g. CTRL+ENTER inside Flash)
         trace("Toggle full screen button was pressed");
         if (Stage.displayState == "normal") { Stage.displayState = "fullscreen"; }
         else { Stage.displayState = "normal"; }
    //Create a listener for each time the Stage is resized
    var resizeListener:Object = new Object();
    //Called each time the stage is resized
    resizeListener.onResize = function () {
        //Move the button to the center of the screen
        toggleFullScreenButton._x=Stage.width/2;
        toggleFullScreenButton._y=Stage.height/2;
    //Add the listener to Stage
    Stage.addListener(resizeListener);
    And on the button itself is this code:
    on(press){
        toggleFullScreen();

  • Slideshow with border

    Hello,
    i am using iphoto and created a slideshow (with iphoto6, macmini, cinema display 23"). The slideshow works fine but there is a border about 1-2inches on each side around every picture. the resolution of the pictures is high enough for the screen. i would like to see the slideshow in "fullscreen" without any border or at least without a border on top and bottom (i know about the ratio 4:3 or 16:10). any ideas?
    Kind regards

    macmini + cinema display 23"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    This happens on my TiBook as well. What I have found is that if your video chip is not up to Apple's standards, it will switch the resolution to 800x600, and your photos not only have a black border, but you'll notice they're fuzzier as well. It switches the resolution back after the slideshow.
    If you look at the help, it will say:
    iPhoto allows you to view slideshows in full screen mode, but some computers won't allow you to do this. If you're using an affected computer, iPhoto 5.0.2 or later will display a black border around the edges of the screen to improve slideshow performance.
    If you would like to play a slideshow without the border, consider exporting the slideshow as a QuickTime movie. You can then view the resulting movie in QuickTime Player or another application that can play movies in full screen mode.
    I have no idea why they do not show full-res slideshows for some computers.
