Problem updating date field on user table

Hi,
I am having difficulty updating the value for a date field on a user defined table. All of the other fields update fine. Below is the code I am using. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried updating to both a date variable or a string variable. Thanks in advance for your help

I think I have figured it out. The cardtype field (which I was also updating) has a list of valid values. If I didn't specify a value for this field none of the other fields would update either. I'm still not sure of the reason for this behavior.

The thing is that XSLT often doesn't deliver the functionality required when it comes to times.
You suggest appening "Z" to the time but this means that the time is now in UTC time. What if the system from where the date is being converted is running in NZ using local time? Other systems that recieve the date (and correctly handle the time zone) will now have a time that is out by a number of hours.
You often can't ignore the time zone (drop the 'Z') as if you send the time to a system it has to either assume the time is local to it (which may not be the case... the other system coudl be in a different time zone) or assume the time is UTC (I think crossfire does this by default).
Typically can't just append a time zone (e.g. +11:00) either as many places have daylight savings so the value to appended is variable (you then need some way of determining what the value is... either Java Embedding or a Service).
As you mention it does depend on the use case but in many circumstances using Jaba Embedding, not as suggested above but with the appropriate Java.util.Calendar classes, is the best way to handle date and time in BPEL. Even still you need to ascertain the format of times external to the system and ensure you parse them correctly.
ANd even if you do all this you can still run into problems. I've seen a real world example where two systems which both handled time zones correctly and had previously been working together for quite a while, satrted reporting different times. It turns out that only one of them had had the most recent Java Time Zone patches applied and there had been a change in the dates for daylight savings here (Australia). Be warned!

Updating date field in db table.

Hi ,
I need to update a table which has a date field the and its of type dats.
i need to insert the date from the flat file. If the date field is blank it is updating in the table like
" / /     ". if the date is 3/5/2006 it is updating properly.
if the date is blank the table should be inserted with null values . it should not have " / /    " also.
can anyone help me on this.

Use WRITE statement to transfer date into dats field.
DATA : v_date TYPE d ,
       v_date1 TYPE d.
WRITE v_date TO v_date1.

Problem while saving date field in custom table

Iam facing the following problem while saving a date field in custome table
i have a date field zdate in which the value is 02082010.
now when i try to insert this value in the custom table it is getting updated as 20/10/0208 , but it should be 08/02/2010

just before saving u might have to use a string reverse FM and then save it..

Problem with displaying Date field in the table.

Hi All,
I am trying to display data into a table UI Element.
In that data, i have one DATE type field. While displaying data in DATE field, it will display like this "01.02.2009".
Now my requirement is if i want to modify that DATE field, it will allow to modify "01.02.2009" to "26.02.2009".
But while modifying DATE field , I want to show the Calender of that month, in that i have to select the another date.
(Like normal Date UI Element will show that calender).
Can anyone please help me.

HOW CAN I ADD/UPDATE/INSERT IN A USER TABLE WITH MATRIX

Hi All,
I have one User table (Defined as No Object) and what i need to do is a form with a matrix to Add/Update/Delete data in my user table.
I already create the form and the matrix that already give me the user table data. But now i have several problems to solve.
First I try to add a new row but this new row get the data of the last row in the matrix. What i needed is a blank row to add new data in the user table.
Second, when i change data in matrix and do update in the form, sap show me the message that the operation is successfully done but the data in the user table in not updated.
I am trying to do one forma like whe can find in Setup-> General -> Freight.
Can anyone help me?

Hi,
If ur dealing with a simple form like that U can as well use the direct table form, and just provide a FMS to auto matically fill the code and name. U can directly use the form by.. Tools-->UserDefined Windows
Or
Comming to ur problem.... when ur adding a new row clear the data sources so that u'll get a blank row.
And for update the best thing to do is delete all the records in the table and again insert all the records directly from the matrix.

Update Date field automatically

When a user is adding a new entry I want two of the fields in the table to be automatically updated without the user knowing (hidden fields), I want a current date and time to be entered into the Updated Date field and the :APP_USER to be entered into the Updated_by VARCHAR2 field.
How do I go about doing this can I just put code to do so into the source of ITEMS or do I have to create a process?

Crystal Report error trying to retrieve data from a user table

I had the same problem today. I upgraded from Crystal Version 8 to 11 and the problem was solved. Maybe it is too late for you, but I wanted to post the solution if anybody else has the same problem.

How can I update data fields in a merged document ?

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to update the values of data fields in a merged document with a script just as you can do with the user interface.
I don't find any method like "updateDataFields ()" in the DataMerge object.
Si I try to invoke the menu action "Update Data Fields", but it fails. The script error message is: "Error 53762, the script is not active." On the contrary, the action works if I use the interface.
Can anyone help me?

Error while updating Date Field on Process Form.

I am using java code to pre-pop date on the process form.First I used a java code whic took java.sql.date as input and returned the same java.sql.date.But it gave an error that:java.lang.String cannot be converted to java.sql.date.......
So I changed the java code and now it takes string as input and returns java.sql.date. This code works fine for Pre-pop adapter and the date is populated on the process form.
But when i use the same code in a Process Task adapter to update the date, then it gives the following error:

Update 2 fields in 1 table

I need to update an Oracle 8i database. I need to update 2 fields in 1 table with about 2,000 rows of data.
Right now the date is stored in an Excell file in columns A and B.
I need Something like:
Update Table1
set field1 with value from A:1,
set field2 with value from B:1
repeated with A:2,B:2 and so on

I believe you could use sql loader to get your excel file in but here is a way I cheat to do it.
I save the excel file as a comma deliminated file (I think it is .csv)
then I open it up and copy and paste it into the following. (the part that says paste flat file here)
this is assuming 8i supports model clause I'm unsure on that point.

If you want to update the existing table record or field.. it is always advisable to use MODIFY statement instead of UPDATE.
syntax:
fetch the BSEG data to internal table IT_BSEG and do you modificaltions.
Loop at it_bseg.
    it_bseg- XYZ = 'ABC'.
    it_bseg-UVW = '123'.
   modify it_bseg transporting XYZ UVW .
endloop.
MODIFY BSEG FROM TABLE IT_BSEG   (here it_bseg is the internal table)
COMMITWORK.
Modify always check in the database whether the record exists or not if it is there it will modify the existing one.. otherwise create a new record.... in Update statement.. there is always a chance of creating a new record.. instead of updating the existing one...

Hi Rahul,
A slightly longer procedure that i'm adding here...
1.) Create the component (i'm sure you have this covered)
2.) Next on the button click that updates the database - add an action.
3.) double click the action so that you are taken to the methods section of the view.
4.) next you need to add the code that is required the update the database - this will be in the form of the above two posts.
5.) compile and test the application
Let me know in case you need further information on how to do this with a function module or something.
