Problem using insert statement....?

I am facing problem while using insert statement.
It is not updating the database table though the same code is working very well on another server.
Please tell what could be the problem.......?

Hi Vijendra ,
You need to check few parameters while creating the table
1. Table Manitainance
2.Buffering
Also , as per you , if ur insert statement is working perfectly fine in another serve..
, it is highlt possible that table created has 'mandt ' filed , which means this table is client dependent.
Also , another reason is that , you may not this table at all in the new server .
So , check onall thiese parameters.
Ihope this solves ur problem.
Regards.

  • Using insert statement

    Hi Guy's,
Please friends help me where i did mistake.
table1 contain 20 fields. using Function module want to updagte the table contain 12 fields.
In FM-importing parameters are 12 fields.
    data : wa_output type table1.
    move : field1 to wa_output-zfield1,
               field2 to wa_output-zfield2. .......upto field12.
    here  using insert statement.
    insert into table1 values wa_output.
But here wa_out contain values are not inserted into table1.
    Why what is the reason.
    please friends clarify my doubt.
    Thanks,
    Sai.

    Hi,
First of all, your work area must have the fields in the same order as your table. Otherwise, you might be inserting character value against a number field. So, even if you have values for only 12 fields, try to put space for the remaining fields. Note: Work Area fields must be in the same order as table fields.
    Thanks

How can I copy all the objects of a particular schema (user1) from DB1 to DB2, only by using INSERT statements. I do not want to use import/export since it is taking huge time for the operation.
Could anybody help me on this?

Since I have allready imported indexes, procedures etc , now I need only to copy tables from DB1 to DB2.
I have truncated all the tables of user1 in DB2

  • Problem With Insert statement using field symbols with unicode enabled

I was writng a function module for dyanamic operations on the table. We are using the field symbols, function module is unicode enabled.
Assign statements are working fine, with which we created work are <fs_wa_header> and internal table <fs_tb_item> dynamically based on the table name (IM_TB_HENAME) which we get as import parameter.
we have query which is giving us dump.
    INSERT  (IM_TB_HENAME)  FROM <FS_WA_HEADER>.

    Hi
INSERT (IM_TB_HENAME) FROM <FS_WA_HEADER> is good for inserting a line in the database, so IM_TB_HENAME has to have the name of dictionary table.
    U should write:
    INSERT  <FS_WA_HEADER> INTO (IM_TB_HENAME).
But I believe you can't use the variable IM_TB_HENAME, you should use another field-symbols:
    ASSIGN (IM_TB_HNAME) TO <FS_TB_ITEM>.
    INSERT  <FS_WA_HEADER> INTO <FS_TB_ITEM>.

  • Problem using Insertion Type=Rows in Xcelsius  2008

I am currently trying to use the Enable Drill-down feature in a bar chart. In this, I am trying to enable the drill-down for one of the series and am following the steps as below:
    1. Select Series
    2. Select Insertion Type = Rows
    3. Assign the source data fields range
    4. Select the destination row column combination
I have configured the population of destination row on Mouse Over event of chart.
When I preview the chart, it populates all the columns for the destination row but one column does not get populated. The column has a text data type.
Can someone urgently advise why I might be getting this issue? Thanks in advance...
    sincerely,
    Bhrugu

exactly what "text area" are you referring to? a chart has Title, Subtitle, Cateogry X Axis, Category Y Axis, and Labels.
    OR
do you mean that you have added a "Input Text Area" component on the chart? if so you can just link it to that particular cell. it might be a good idea to also use dynamic visibility.
note: a text area component can only link to 1 cell. not a range of cells.

  • Using System::ErrorDescription in Insert statement

    Hello,
I want to insert System::ErrorDescription to store the error in the customized log table. When I use the following statement, it does not insert anything. What am i doing wrong. Please advice.
    create table dbo.load_err(load_err_id integer(PK),load_err_Dtl,loadtime)

As you do a loop over all the records in the block, of course every record is updated.
Also, what you do is not the way is intended to be used. In general, you base a block on a table, then there is no need at all for writing INSERT's or UPDATE's. Forms also know's then, which records to be updated and which not.

    EXTRACT
    Basic form
    EXTRACT fg.
    Effect
Writes all fields of the field group fg (FIELD-GROUPS) as an entry in asequential dataset. If you have defined a field group HEADER,its fields precede each entry as a sort key. Afterwards, you canuse SORT and LOOP ... ENDLOOP to sort or process the datasetrespectively. No further EXTRACT statements are possible afterthis.
    Notes
    General:
As soon as you have extracted a dataset using EXTRACT, you canno longer extend the field group using INSERT. In particular, you cannot change the HEADERfield group at all after the first EXTRACT (regardless of thefield group to which it applied).
Large extract datasets are not stored in main memory. Instead, theyare kept in an external auxiliary file. You can set the directory inwhich this file is created using the SAP profile parameterDIR_EXTRACT. The default directory is the SAP data directory(SAP profile parameter DIR_DATA).
    Notes
    Runtime errors:
EXTRACT_AFTER_SORT/LOOP: EXTRACT after SORT, orLOOP. EXTRACT_BUFFER_NO_ROLL: Unable to create the required main
EXTRACT_FIELD_TOO_LARGE: Occupied length of a field is toolarge.
EXTRACT_HEADER_NOT_UNIQUE: Field group HEADER wasmodified after an EXTRACT statement.
    EXTRACT_OPEN_EXTRACTFILE_OPEN:
Error opening the external extract dataset file.
EXTRACT_RESOURCEHANDLER_FAILED: Error deleting the externalextract dataset file.
EXTRACT_TOO_LARGE: Total length of the entry for extraction(including HEADER fields) is too large.
    Additional help
    Filling anExtract with Data
    Extracts
Since internal tables have fixed line structures, they are not suited to handle data sets with varying structures. Instead, you can use extract datasets for this purpose.
An extract is a sequential dataset in the memory area of the program. You can only address the entries in the dataset within a special loop. The index or key access permitted with internal tables is not allowed. You may only create one extract in any ABAP program. The size of an extract dataset is, in principle, unlimited. Extracts larger than 500KB are stored in operating system files. The practical size of an extract is up to 2GB, as long as there is enough space in the filesystem.
An extract dataset consists of a sequence of records of a pre-defined structure. However, the structure need not be identical for all records. In one extract dataset, you can store records of different length and structure one after the other. You need not create an individual dataset for each different structure you want to store. This fact reduces the maintenance effort considerably.
In contrast to internal tables, the system partly compresses extract datasets when storing them. This reduces the storage space required. In addition, you need not specify the structure of an extract dataset at the beginning of the program, but you can determine it dynamically during the flow of the program.
You can use control level processing with extracts just as you can with internal tables. The internal administration for extract datasets is optimized so that it is quicker to use an extract for control level processing than an internal table.
    Procedure for creating an extract:
Define the record types that you want to use in your extract by declaring them as field groups. The structure is defined by including fields in each field group.
    Defining an Extract
Fill the extract line by line by extracting the required data.
    Filling an Extract with Data
Once you have filled the extract, you can sort it and process it in a loop. At this stage, you can no longer change the contents of the extract.
    Processing Extracts
    INSERT Statement
The INSERT statement is used to insert values into a single database table.
    <insert statement> ::= INSERT INTO <table name> <insert column list> <insert source>.
    <insert source> ::= VALUES '(' <value> ( ',' <value> )* ')'
    | <query specification>.
    <value> ::= <value expression>
    | <dynamic parameter specification>
    | NULL.
    <insert column list> ::= '(' <column name> ( ',' <column name> )* ')'.
In Open SQL the <insert column list> is not optional.
You cannot specify string literals as values for CLOB columns. Hex literals are not supported in Open SQL.
    Examples
    INSERT INTO employees (employee_id, employee_name)
    VALUES (4711, 'John Smith')
Inserting Values. A new row is inserted into the table employees with the values 4711 and 'John Smith' for the columns employee_id and employee_name respectively.
    INSERT INTO well_paid_employees (employee_id, salary)
    SELECT employee_id, salary
    FROM employees
    WHERE salary > ?
Inserting the Result of a Query. The employee_idand the salaryof all employees from table employeeswith a salary exceeding a certain value are inserted into the table well_paid_employees.
    Please reward points if helpful.

  • Doubt on insert statement

    Hi gurus,
I have duplicate records in my internal table.I need to update these duplicate records into ztable.I created Ztable with out having the key value.I put only MANDT as key value , all other fields are non key values.I need to insert these duplicate records into Ztable.
When i am using insert statement it inserts only the last record. I am snding my piece of code here. Please any one suggest me on this.

    Hi,
Accepting duplicates will not work with area, that is the reason it is throwing an error:
    Try like this :
    loop at t_ltap into s_ltap.
    wa_tab-lgort = s_ltap-lgort.
    wa_tab-wdatu = s_ltap-wdatu.
    wa_tab-matnr = s_ltap-matnr.
    wa_tab-maktx = s_ltap-maktx.
    wa_tab-nsola = s_ltap-nsola.
    wa_tab-text = s_ltap-text.
    append wa_tab to it_tab.
    clear wa_tab.
    endloop.
    INSERT <ztablename> FROM TABLE it_tab.
    Thanks,

  • Bsp-insert statement

    hi,
we are trying to insert values into data base table using insert statement.but we are unable to do it with normal insert statement is there any other way to do this if so please suggest us.and pleae tell us why the normal insert statement is not working.

What exactly is not working? Do you get a short dump or some sort of message? If you try and insert a record that is already present in the table, than this would result in an error.
Please add some additional info about your error / statement you are using for insert.
    Kind regards,
    Micky.

  • Agent job step - using print statement in tsql step doesnt show up

I want to execute a procedure, then use print to write a short message into the job history.  The step executes fine, but the message doesnt show up in the history.
    print 'hello'
    what gives?

PRINT command is not intended to be used for writing into the history. If you need such information, you may have a special log table and write into it using insert statement.
Alternatively, you may google on writing to text file from SQL Server, but I would not recommend that approach.
