    Which version of oracle thin driver are you using? Oracle 920 thin driver has some issues.

  • Problem using Oracle JDBC Driver

    Hi,
    I try to configure the Oracle JDBC Driver the following way:
    I load the Oracle drivers ojdbc14_g.jar and nls_charset12.jar
    I configure the DataSource using the Driver Class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver, the database URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@h50a430:1521:WLP1E1A0 and the User with Password.
    As soon as its activated I get the following error:

    I can't create an Oracle datasource too.
    Uploaded ojdbc14.jar, used the same Oracle jdbc settings as in my jdbc explorer where everything works fine, set initial connections to 1, set SQL Engine to Native SQL,...
    -> won't start.
    I restarted the cluster too. The Datasource is still marked with a red cross in the admin tool.
    This is with the type 1.x setting, as XA seems to be still broken in WAS 6.40.

  • Beginner Has Problem With Loading JDBC Driver Using MySQL

    Hi, I am having problem with loading JDBC driver, and need your diagnotic help.
    1. I have installed MySQL (C:\mysql), created a databse (soup), and created a littel table (VIDEOS). I am able to see the table in the console:
    sql> select * from videos
    2. I have downloaded the latest version of Connector/J (mysql-connector-java-3.1.0-alpha.zip), and unzip the zip file into my C:\ directory.
    3. I copied the mysql-connector-java-3.1.0-alpha-bin.jar to the C:\j2sdk1.4.1_02\jre\lib\ext folder and it is in my CLASSPATH
    4. MySQL server is running
    C:\> C:\mysql\bin\mysqld-nt --standalone
    5. open another DOS window and use the database
    mysql>USE SOUP
    6. succesfully compiled a Java program (javac Test.java):
    import java.sql.* ;
    public class Test
    public static void main( String[] args )
    try
    Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver").newInstance();
    try
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/soup" );
    try
    Statement statement = con.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = statement.executeQuery("SELECT TITLE FROM VIDEOS");
    while ( rs.next() )
    System.out.println( rs.getString( "TITLE" ) );
    rs.close();
    statement.close();
    catch ( SQLException e )
    System.out.println( "JDBC error: " + e );
    finally
    con.close();
    catch( SQLException e )
    System.out.println( "could not get JDBC connection: " + e );
    catch( Exception e )
    System.out.println( "could not load JDBC driver: " + e );
    7. when I run the Java program (java Test), I got
    the message:
    could not load JDBC driver: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
    What am I missing?

    Hi,
    I missed to specify test in my last post.
    Try running your program by explicitly setting the classspath when
    running your program . java -classpath c:\mysql-connector-java-3.1.0-alpha-bin.jar test
    Make sure your jar file contains org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver class

  • Problems showing german special characters using DB2 jdbc driver

    Hi JDBC gurus,
    In my application the special german characters(umlauts...) are not shown correctly when I'm using IBM jdbc driver(type 2). When I switch to jdbcodbc driver everything is correct. So is there any trick, some connection parameter, some property or something like this? Something like "setCharset" or "umlauts" or something? I could not find anything in web :-(
    It is also hard to imagine that nobody has faced this problem. Or it is very trivial...
    The second problem:
    I have downloaded a new driver (com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver) but when I try to connect with DB I'm getting
    com.ibm.db2.jcc.b.SqlException: No license present. What does it mean - no license? I'm going to clear with our DB admin if the reason can be that I have no rights to connect directly with DB without having client installed locally on my PC. This is only what comes to my mind.
    Environment:
    DB: DB2 7.x
    Web-Server: Tomcat 5.x
    Hibernate 3.1.x

    Actually the problem is ONLY symbol - scharfes S. Other umlauts are shown correctly...
    What is wrong with that symbol????
    Many thanks in advance,
    Giorgi

  • Problem using JDBC Connector

    Hi,
    I have problem connecting to MS SQL Server using the JDBC Connector. I have 2 main questions, one is on the DQE and the other is on user mapping.
    I have a created a JDBC System Landscape using the portal component com.sap.portal.systems.jdbc.
    Following are the properties I have set and also I have listed where I am finding propblems.
    - User Management
    User MApping Type : Admin, User
    - Connection Properties
    Connection Timeout: 1000
    Connection URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://10.7.1.5:1433;DatabaseName=SAPEP
    Driver Class Name: com.sap.portals.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    (Here I do not know whihc driver to use. Do I have to use the above one or this one com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver. Anyway, both of them Did not work)
    - Distributed Query Engine (DQE) (What is this, and what Parameters I need to pass here)
    Also, While doing the user mapping, we need to provide the username and password. What username and password is that? Is it the DB user name and Password?
    Any help will be well appriciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Babu

    Hi Babu,
    Here's what's needed in the system (examples are from my system):
    CONNECTION PROPERTIES:
       -- Connection URL: jdbc:sap:sqlserver://p031617:1433;DatabaseName=pubs
       -- DRIVER CLASS NAME: com.sap.portals.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
       -- VALIDATE CONNECTION: yes
    USER MANAGEMENT:
       -- USER MAPPING TYPE: admin, user
    DQE: Put in admin user/password (DQE is for distributed queries between multiple, heterogeneous databases, but you still need to use it for simple queries)
    Create an alias
    Go to User Administration and set user mapping for the admin user
    Test connection
    Each user that access the system will need user mapping.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem using JDBC Thin driver with Oracle 8i Personal Edition

    Hi all, I have an issue I have been unable to figure out. In order to make my code as portable as possible I am using the JDBC thin driver to access my database. I have been able to connect to an instance of Oracle 8i on a Sun box by hardcoding the following string into getConnection() call:
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=<myhostname>)(Port=1521))(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.w orld)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host = <myhostname>)(Port = 1526)))(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = <mysidname>)))", <myuser>, <mypassword>);
    My problem is that I cannot figure out what string to use to connect to my local instance of Oracle 8i Personal. I used the following string (the sid I got from the looking at the init.ora file):
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=localhost)(Port=1521))(ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=tcp.world)(PRO TOCOL=TCP)(Host = localhost)(Port = 1526)))(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = orcl)))", "scott", "tiger");
    That didn't work, so I took the only entry found in my tnsnames.ora file in as:
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0)))(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = PLSExtProc)(PRESENTATION = RO)))", "scott", "tiger");
    I am not knowing what is wrong, but that didn't work neither. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks....
    null

    try this:
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:scott/tiger:@hostname:1521:sid");
    or use system/manager as username/passward
    null

  • Problem with GenericCatalogDAO  JDBC Resultset using parameters not working

    Hello
    I have a problem with Petstore GenericCatalogDAO. java. The problem is the behaviour of the resultset object when retrieving data from the database.Below are two synareos one that
    works (when) hard coded and one that does not work when parameter values passed into the the result set.
    1. The code the WORKS.
    statement = connection.prepareStatement("select a.productid , name, descn from product a, product_details b
    where a.productid = b.productid and locale= 'en_US' and a.catid = 'FISH' order by name"
    ,ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE,ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
    resultSet = statement.executeQuery();
    resultSet.absolute(1);
    String s = resultSet.getString(1);
    The code that gives me a 'exhausted resultset' error which I think means no results
    String[] parameterValues = new String[] { locale.toString(), categoryID };(For example parameters are 'en_US' and 'FISH')
    statement = connection.prepareStatement("select a.productid , name, descn from product a, product_details b
    where a.productid = b.productid and locale=? and a.catid =? order by name"
    ,ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE,ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
    for (int i = 0; i < parameterValues.length; i++) {
    statement.setString(i + 1, parameterValues[i]);
    resultSet = statement.executeQuery();
    resultSet.absolute(1);
    String s = resultSet.getString(1);
    There is obviously a problem using these named parametevalues with these preparedstatement resultset, Does anybody know anything about this and a fix for it????
    Cheers. Roger

  • Problem using JDBC (JNDI) DataSource and data-sources.xml w/ OC4J

    I have a JClient application developed in JDev X. It works fine when using a JDBC URL for the connection (which then writes the connection into the BC4J.xcfg files, one for each application module). However, I would like the app to retrieve the data source from the server's data-sources.xml file. However, when, on the configurations tab of the application module I set the connection type to JDBC DataSource, and give it the JNDI name, it does not work, either with the embedded OC4J or the stand-alone OC4J. Any suggestions???
    In the stand alone OC4J I verified that the data source exists (using java -jar admin.jar ormi://nemethzoltan3 admin welcome -application adatklinika -testDataSource -location jdbc/adatklinikaCoreDS) ... so the data source is defined in the data-sources.xml. Of course the error I get is JBO-30003.
    If I just try to "test" the data source in Jdeveloper (using the context menu of the app module, and setting it to use the adatklinikaCoreDS) I get a JNDI error: unable to lookup data source and at level 3 a "javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial". I checked, the data source is defined under tools->embedded OC4J properties->data sources.
    If I try to run the main form, simply nothing happens.
    Please help!!!

    Ok, figured out why running from jdeveloper wasn't working: the embedded OC4J server wasn't started (start it by running an html page from your project or something...and make sure you don't have a stand-alone oc4j running). AND more importantly it didn't have the library "embedded oc4j client" library included (project properties -> profiles -> development -> libraries)...which is needed for whatever reason.
    Now to try and get it working with the stand-alone OC4J...

    After that, I tried setting permissions for the cwallet.sso file to ugo+rwx, but this leads to the same problems as mentioned above.
    My second try was to setup an external WLS 12c, but it seems to be not yet possible to connect to a WLS 12c from within jDeveloper.
    Do you have any ideas ?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Robin

    After debugging the WLS Initialisation with jdb, I recognized that there was some trouble with dependent libraries.
    In the end, I solved my problem by using another OS (Ubuntu 11.10) for development. There, the WLS works out of the box, even with 64-Bit libraries.
    Thank you for your help.

    But the mystery is that the main set of JDBC tests (outside of samples) in CTS1.4.1 are running fine.
    One difference I notice is that the tests that are failing use "createManagedConnection".
    The main configurations file "ts.jte" present under %TS_HOME%\bin has all the settings correct. Thats why the main JDBC tests go through fine.
    I wonder where these failing tests pick up the bad "address" from.
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks !

  • Is there any incompatibility in using different JDBC and Oracle database versions?

    Hi everybody,
    I hope you can answer me ASAP.
    Which version of JDBC driver for Oracle could I use to access an Oracle database version 8.0.4.3.0 running on a SUN machine?
    Is it necessary to use the specific driver concerning to that version or could we use the JDBC version 8.1.6?
    If we decide to use JDBC 8.1.6 to work against the 8.0.4.3.0 database, will we find any incompatibility or problem?
    Thanks.

    I don't know the answer to your question, but while looking for something else, I found a table listing "requirements and compatibilities for oracle jdbc drivers" that might answer your question:
    http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/java.817/a83724/getsta1.htm#1008206
    (My aologies if that URL gets broken apart by this posting software and you have to piece it together.)
    Hope this helps.
