Problem with coldfusion

hi recently I've downloaded cfmx7 and I want to start doing
app with coldfusion mx7, well we recently moved up to a site they
said it has a coldfusion 5 running up, but at this time it seems
impossible to comunicate with the site, because when I try to
connect it says that the coldfusion is not running in my hosting,
but when I connect to the database i have there using my
administrator panel in cfmx7, it works perfectly, but so far now is
impossible to me to connect with my database using dreamweaver
mx2004 because the dreamweaver keeps telling me my site doesn't
have coldfusion there is some issue between versions?, because it
is what my host admin says and I don't if that answer is the
correct, please, help me up. My hosting is Ixwebhosting.com and my
coldfusion is running on my mac(osx), the dev edition, they say
they have coldfusion 5.

Yeah, what mcadle said, plus, a note on typical development.
When RDS is not available (very, very typical), you should have CF
developer edition running locally on your computer (or somewhere on
your network), with a database that somewhat mirrors your live web
site. Develop, make changes, then, when you're sure everything
works, FTP it up to your server (you can usually do that through
DW).

Problems with ColdFusion Extensions and CF/Flex Application Wizard

I have configured the Eclipse RDS according to the
instructions in the help documentation. The RDS Fileview and
Dataview work OK, but I haven’t had any luck with the
Services Browser: when I try to expand (+) the localhost item, the
only thing that appears is the message “Unable to get meta
data for cfc.”
The Dreamweaver 8 Components panel, which shows exactly the
same information, works fine.
Perhaps related to the above: when I create a Flex project
with the CF/Flex Application Wizard and look at the project
properties, in the Flex Server section, I get "Since this project
does not use a server, these setting do not apply". I find this
odd: a ColdFusion project that doesn’t use a server? Anyway,
using the wizard, I have not been able to create a simple project
that works.
If anyone has had similar problems and has been able to solve
them, I would appreciate some light on the subject.

Well I was able to resolve this problem by un-installing and
re-installing CF.
I did some further testing (un/re-install again) and it
appears that this problem occurs when CF is installed in devnet
version mode and not if in developer mode.
To check if CF is installed in devnet mode look in the CF
Administrator under "server settings->settings
summary->version information" You will see a notation for
devnet.
I also did a little poking around and this happens whenever
you install CF using a certain range license keys. The keys in this
range are valid keys for installation but they alter some critical
settings in CF (the flash paper/pdf watermark and apparently some
RDS stuff) The solution is to install with a non dev-net key or in
developer mode.

Problem with coldfusion installation on Solaris

This is happened exactly when I zlogin for first time to complete installation.
The installation procedure flow flawless.I set terminal type 13 (dt terminal) and everything is OK, but when I try to setup hostname I�ve got this error.
I try this with 3 different zones on this machine with same result
I have old x86 machines with solaris 11/06 zones installed , everything works fine (1 year uptime)
This is not the first zone in my life :)

Problem with CFM 7

Hello Guys ,
I am new in this forum and i have a problema with coldfusion.
I have many sites in my CFM Server. A have a Windows 2003 SP2
32 Bits and ColdFusion MX
Version 7,0,2,142559.
Eventually, we received an error message for any failure in
JRun. Usually ODBC driver of the machine failure and restore the
access only after restart IIS Services and CFM.
How solve this problem?
Is there a good article on how to optimize the resources of
the server?

What gets logged when the problems happesn?
*There are a lot off error messages. I don t no exatly wahat
message is intereting to post here. CAn you tell me with log is

Problems with installing coldfusion mx and setting up CF for home practice

problems with installing coldfusion mx:

i have some books of cf.
i need to start on my tutorials
however,
they said the prereq is mx server
home site,
1. i did download mx 7 and chose mx developer edition.
my problem is that when it is self configure. (the second
option without apache or iis)
it is reall taking a long time to configure 2hrs. i did not
let it finish so i stopped the process.
what am i doing wrong in the set up process.
2. do i need apache to run CF. if so i did go to apache .org
and went to a mirror site. but i dont know which one to down load.
any tips?
3. can i run my tutorials with out apcahe or IIS?
4 . the book also mentioned homesite / dreamweaver as a
editor.
where and how can i put this in my personal PC?
i really appreciate your help in advance

Problem with a ColdFusion (Queries spend a long time to return)

Hy guys
My team have a problem with a Coldfusion (version 8,0,0,176276). Apparently this issue has a relation with queries that spend a long time to return some result, making the poll to open more connexions with the database until stop the application.
Actually the high number of connexions is a reflex of this issue, a consequence and the same way that is the fail on the application.
I would like to know if exist a way to debug the calls to database? this information will help my team a lot.

I have problem with Adobe ColdFusion Server Manager.

I have a problem with Adobe ColdFusion Server Manager when you log on and connect to the server. An advantage of the settings do not load.

the Errors View button display’s the yellow ! sign. Without a better guide I just thought that is a normal button icon until I noticed Charlie comment earlier in the thread and I thought hold up that is not normal.
As it is when I press Errors View I get “no error” which might be because there is none or just simply not giving meaningful details as per some other CF Server Manager limitations previously noticed in other threads on forum here.
I just hope some of that helps the original post to do with the display of the settings on left side. Maybe a better look at the error might help? Does anything get logged in CFadmin UI > Debugging & Logging > Log Files that relates to issue?

Problems with Verity under ColdFusion MX 6.1

MX 6.1. I do a query and then try to index the results of that

When I do the <CFSEARCH and then <CFDUMP the number of
records in the collection is 1409 - hence 59 records less than the
query returns...I have deleted the collection numeruos times and
re-created it, I have also increased the JVM settings on the
ColdFusion server and no difference at all...
I am out of ideas on how to solve this problem so I am hoping
somebody can recommend the solution to this...
Any ideas would be much appreciated.....

Odds are it's nothing to do with the Coldfusion upgrade, it
has to do with MSIE 7. We were in the middle of a Site Rewrite
project when Windows XP started automatically updating users to
MSIE 7. They "fixed" so many things in 7, we had to re-QA the whole
site and fix a bunch of CSS issues so that the site would work and
display correctly in 7.
You might also verify that your Windows 2003 server has all
the current service packs and hotfixes. IIRC, there was at least
one that threw our servers for a loop until we applied another
hotfix.

Purchased ColdFusion 10: Having problem with session variables

My Dept. has just bought CF10 and I'm finally updating my existing web app to CF10 from CF8. My First Problem with CF10 is using session variables.
When using the lower version of CF (since CF 4 to 8) I have never had any problem setting up session variables and getting or using these variables in other pages after a successful login but with CF 10 it seems setting session variables and using them in other pages are a major problems. I'm not sure where have I done wrong in the codes.

Problems defining the datasource with coldfusion 9

I just upgraded Macromedia MX7 with coldfusion 9. The local host was http://localhost:8500/ows. I am not sure if this address is the same for coldfusion 9. When I try to define the datasource, I still see Macromedia MX7 instead of coldfusion 9 in administor and I cannot proceed to Login because of the URL "http://127.0.0.1:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm", and a I get a message "the page cannot be displayed" Please HELP. It sounds to me like you might have done a parallel install rather than an upgrade?
Is there anything in your filesystem that looks like a CF9 install?
What steps did you follow to perform the upgrade?
If it's just a local machine, it might be quicker to not bother to work out what happened, and just install CF9 and migrate your stuff across to it, rather than doing an inline upgrade. I have to concede I had such poor luck trying to upgrade CF in the past I abandoned it as a practice and always did a deinstall / resinstall rather than an upgrade.

Problem with data not displaying in website

Hello All,
I am having a problem with one of our applications. It is written in ColdFusion and uses SQL server. The problem that we are having is when we use the URL Http://bma.com (that is not actually the site name) we cannot see all the data that it is suppose to pull in. I get an error on page and when I select to view the error this is what I get
Message: 'WddxRecordset' is undefined Line: 184 Char: 2 Code: 0 URI: http://bma.com/user_maintenance.cfm and Message: 'jsusersTLV' is undefined Line: 3208 Char: 6 Code: 0 URI: http://bma.com/user_maintenance.cfm
If I put the IP address in the URL for example http://165.83.109.246/bma/login.cfm all of the data is displayed as it should.
Any thoughts or sugguestios on how to correct this?

Yes, the user_maintenance.cfm is one of the forms that the data is not displaying on. There are multiple forms in the application and that just happens to be one of them. the login.cfm is just the login screen. Once you select your name and enter your password to the application then you can select the user maintenance form. If you select someones name the application should pull in all of that persons information. That is the problem, it is not pulling in any information on the user. We get a blank screen where data should be. When we use the IP address in the URL and select someones name in the user manintenance form, it pulls in all the data from that user as it should.

Problem with application.cfm

I'm just getting back into coldfusion after a few years...and
i'm already running into a problem with the application.cfm
What could cause this simple error when I try to go to a
coldfusion page (the cfm page would load prior to adding the
application.cfm). Also, can the application name be pretty much

Problem with Math In Calculated Fields

I am calculating a group incident rate for data returned from
a query. The formula is Number of cases multiplied by 200000
divided by number of hours worked. Cases in my report is the
calculated field: calc.CaseSum (the sum of cases for the group)
Hours is calc.SumHours (the sum of hours for the group). The actual
values for these variables (for the first group are 48 and 29427171
respectively. When I create the following calculated field called
rate using the formula: (calc.CaseSum * 200000) / calc.SumHours,
Cold Fusion Generates a Runtime Error:
Invalid ColdFusion expression in report. If the expression is
a string, ensure that it is within quotes. Error: (calc.CaseSum *
200000) / calc.SumHours is not a valid ColdFusion expression.
If I use the constant value "29427171" as the divisor, the
report works albeit only for the first group. Any ideas; is this a
bug, or am I misusing the product?
Addition: I forgot to mention I am using CF8. Also this
formula worked fine as a Report Total before I introduced grouping
and modified the calculated fields to reset on the change of a
group.

Sorry, I've been on another project for awhile. This problem
will certainly be a "show stopper" for me if I cannot resolve it.
As I mentioned in my original post, I used a constant in the
formula in lieu of the variable and the calculation worked. This
would suggest that CF does not have a problem with a large number.
In spite of that reasoning, I tried Tony's suggested (thanks
by the way!) with the identical outcome, only difference is the new
formula is displayed in the error message.
Tony, you also suggested that I set the variables using
CFSET... How would I do this within the report writer environment.
I had tried a similar approach: to perform half the calculation
i.e. that within the parenthesis, and assign that value to a
separate "calculated field: and then perform the rest of the
calculation on that variable with the same outcome.
I think that I may be dealing with a CF bug here, I'd like to
find a workaround... I've noticed that CF8 has a new patch, perhaps
after I apply it, I may be able to get this thing to work. I'm on
another project right now so it will be a few days before I can
test this theory, I report the result.
Should this fail, and no one can come up with a workaround, I
will report this to Adobe.

Problems with all Adobe sites + Dreamwaver install
