Problem with dgraph.bins in descriptor dimensions

Hi Everyone,
We are using presentation API to retrieve the count of selected refinements(getDescriptorDimensions()),and facing issues(The values are null) accessing the dgraph.bins from the PropertyMap but we do not have any issues when we access the refinements available i.e getRefinementDimensions().
Also,the same code when we connect to MDEX 6.4.1,we are getting the count of selected refinements but the issue we are facing is w.r.t MDEX version 6.1.3.
In MDEX version,6.1.3,the propertyMap is becoming null but in the other it contains {Dgraph.Bins=10}
Any suggestions please?

I believe refinement counts being returned with the descriptor dimensions was added in MDEX 6.2.0, and was not available previously.

Problem with drill down in time dimension - OBIEE 11G

Hello There,
I have a problem with drill down in time dimension. The hierarchy for time dimension is " Fiscal Year---> Fiscal Quarter---> Month(Name)--->Date". When I select a Time dimension and click results its getting opened in a Pivot table view. The problem here is, when I click the "Total" its getting drilled down to Year ---> Quarter but when I click on "+ sign next to quarter" it should drill down to month for that particular quarter for that particular year but its drilling down to month for that particular quarter for all years.

Having problems with content.bin on n8

Hi,
I'm holding on to n8 mobile. I'm having some problems with the web. Whenever I start surfing the web, there's still pop up saying view interrupted download. I click view and content.bin pop up was shown. What content.bin actually is? Can anyone help me? Thanks.(:

I can't delete it. It only has hide. But is it that I deleted the wrong content previously?

Problem with MSG_fr.bin

I use BOE XIR2 in Client/Server on my PC
When I want to connect to Designer or Desktop Intelligence I have this error :
"A problem was encounterted with MSG_fr.bin ; check it has been generated".
I can't start the Desktop Intelligence Report Server service

If I remember correctly this has been asked numerous times before, try searching the discussions.
Anyway, you have a couple of possible solutions for this.
It is understandable that you don't want hundreds of reallocation on daily basis, and you don't want to lose the capacity otherwise, but it feels that your bins should and could have been planned a bit better, there is always a way to unify capacities, split bins, use the storage space in a more meaningful manner. This is the point where your optimization was supposed to be done, not in SAP. But anyway, you are stuck with what you have and here are the solutions that cross my mind.
1. Standard SAP:
Split the bins to multiple storage types, this way you will have 30 bin types, but they will have different capacity for different storage types (in OMM4). Easy and standard, but has the downside that you will have to manipulate with 5 storage types instead of 1. A bit of more customizing but will solve the problem. Also, storage type search will need to be changed to include all the STs... Might be harder to track the strategies but this is the only standard way that crosses my mind.
2. ABAP:
This is the solution I have used and works fine, though you will need an ABAP-er to complete this.
Create a z-table/view having the same structure as the standard one, just add 120 more fields.
Well, not only that, you will have to change the coding to use this custom table instead of standard one, and although this isn't the brightest solution since you won't be able to change this table in customizing in the predefined path in SPRO/OLML, but will need o do it in SM30.
Luckily both of the options should work fine if done correctly, I have used both of these, and both have up and down sides... But I would go with standard SAP if it doesn't complicate your life too much because of several more STs. If it does, go with ABAP.

Problem with storage Bin

Problem with unique key for Fiscal_T_Time dimension lookup

Hi,
In my mapping, I use Lookup on Fiscal_T_Time dimension provided by oracle. The validation gives me a warning,saying "VLD-1603:Lookup condition for key lookup Fiscal_T_Time does not contain a complete unique key". I'm using <source_group>.date as input and L_Day_day as lookup column, which is shown as I select the unique key from the drop down list. Both have type matches. The configuration on the dimension also shows the constraint of the unique Key. What can be wrong?

Problem with /usr/bin/find -iname

find -iname is not case insensitive and behaves oddly. Why doesn't the example below always return all 3 files? Why does being in a different directory change the behavior?
I also noticed that the behavior is not the same for other users.

Problem with file descriptors not released by JMF

I have a problem with file descriptors not released by JMF. My application opens a video file, creates a DataSource and a DataProcessor and the video frames generated are transmitted using the RTP protocol. Once video transmission ends up, if we stop and close the DataProcessor associated to the DataSource, the file descriptor identifying the video file is not released (checkable through /proc/pid/fd). If we repeat this processing once and again, the process reaches the maximum number of file descriptors allowed by the operating system.
The same problem has been reproduced with JMF-2.1.1e-Linux in several environments:
- Red Hat 7.3, Fedora Core 4

Its a bug on H263, if you test it without h263 track or with other video codec, the release will be ok.
You can try to use a not-Sun h263 codec like the one from fobs or jffmpeg projects.

Problems selecting paper bin/source with some printers drivers

Hi,
I'm using CR2008 SP2 .NET SDK.
With some printers drivers i'm unable to set the correct paper source in the print options.
For example, if I use Toshiba e-series PLC driver (you can find it here:drivers and select, for example, the e-STUDIO281C printer).
Even if i set the correct paper source on the report designer when i print it through code (without applying any changes to the report) the report is always printed by the default paper source defined at the printer preferences.
The same thing happens when you do it through the designer.
I already tried the following workaround but without any success: at the CR Designer, go to the File Menu, and choose Page Setup. Under Page Options, check the Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size. This often helps with these issues. Resave the report, and see if that works any better.
Is there any known issues with printer drivers and CR2008?

Oops, sorry my mistake. I'll leave it here for now.
How CR works is to get the Printer info from the DEVMODE structure, which is where the printer driver settings and configurations are saved for each printer installed.
What I've seen plenty of times before is within the DEVMODE structure there is one area called DMExtra and in that structure it holds various custom options. Quite often the issue is we query that structure to get info but the problem lies in the driver returning an invalid structure size and therefore CR can't use any custom settings.
Same type of issue if they use an uncommon (ENUM) value for the paper size. In code you can see this in debug mode. But if you simply pass the values as pointers and not attempt to alter them at all CR should not alter what the designer used and saved in the RPT file when the reprot was designed.
What can happen when CR loads the printer info it fails due to problems with the printer itself. There are missing files from the install of the printer which cause Crystal to stop getting the info.
Try this on a clean PC with no other printers installed, Install just that printer driver and then install Crystal Reports. If it still fails then we know it could be Crystal having problems with that driver. You may want to post your issue with the printer manufacturer also. They may be able to test also and determine if it is a CR or their driver issue. They can download a trial version of CR for testing.

If that's not an option you could purchase a support case here for one of our Engineers to escalate to R&D. If it turns out to be a CR problem then you'll get a credit for the case, if it is a printer driver problem then no credit.

Be sure to tell them it needs to go to the Report Designer team first.
There is also a possibilty their driver has issue with Windows OS and the .NET framework. Crystal reports is also UNICODE compliant so the printer driver would have a better success rate if their driver was also unicode compliant.
Bottom line is if it doesn't work in Crystal Designer it won't work in code either.

I got problem with installing with files ended *.bin

Due to some problem I had to format and reinstall the MAC Tiger on my come. I followed all the process properly. Everything was seem ok when the installation proccess finished. Then I went to yahoo to download yahoo messenger and that;s when the problem come. The file I download ends with .bin and the comp keeps opens it with QuickTime. I also have same problem with downloading MSN. How can I solve this prob?

Try downloading an installing Stuffit Expander which is not included with Tiger.

Obiee 11g problem with dimension time DATETIME

Hi experts!
I have a problem with a column of my time dimension. In my database I have a column called "DATE" and it has this format "01/12/2009 00:00:00" (property column is DATETIME) when I import this table in Oracle Administration I see the same format that my database but I want to see without any Hours,minutes...like this: "01/12/2009"
How can I fix this??

You can alternatively use oracle trunc function in the physical layer to trunc the timestamp.
1) go to the table where the date column is coming in physical layer
2) go to the general properties and select SQL and write the SQL of all the columns needed from that table like
select x,y,z,trunc(date) from table_name.
3) this truncates the timestamp

By the way which database are you using,if its oracle trunc works out....other databases it wont work
select trunc(sysdate) from dual in your TOAD and check out.

Problem with Time Dimension generating

Hello, everybody.
I have a problem with Time Dimension generating with the help of the Standard Wizard.
1. I choose Dimensions -> New -> Using Time Wizard
2. Set Name as "Time"
3. On the next screen I choose ROLAP: Relational Storage
4. On the next screen set Start year: 2003, Number of years: 3
5. On the next screen choose all levels of the Normal Hierarchy
On the 6-th step Wizard complete 60% of job and hang up doing nothing (buttons "Cancel" and "Help" is active).

Problem with a multisourced dimension

I have a problem with a multisourced dimension. Some of the values that are in the tables are not visible when I create a filter and choose all choices, but when facts are set against the dimension these values do show.
This is the situation: In my physical layer I've got 3 tables that are all pretty similar, structure is like year, quarter, amount. From these three tables I create 3 fact tables and 1 dimension, where the dimension is YearQuarter with two columns (year and quarter) and 3 sources. One of these tables has a quarter 0 (zero). The DimYearQuarter table is innerjoined in the BMM wit all 3 facttables. Changing to right or left outer doesn't change the results.
In answers when i create a report just with the dimension columns , quarter 0 is not visible. When the measure (where the quarter 0 associated to) is added to my request it shows the values for quarter 0. When applying a filter, the quarter 0 is not visible with "all choices", but a filtercondition works with Quarter is equal to 0.
Any suggestions are kindly appreciated. If more info is needed, I'm very willing to provide.
I'm on 10.1.3.4.1 on windows server 2003 (server side) and XP professional as a client.

You should alias the physical tables such that you can then physically join the aliases one to another. Then you should be able to use the dimension table on it's own - for prompting purposes and such.
(Aliasing of physical tables is an OBI best practice)

Problems with dimensions after upgrade to 11gRel2. VLD-0917 and ENT-06921

We´re testing the upgrade path from 10.2.0.5 to 11.2.0.2 and ran into a problem with the dimension-objects (ROLAP).
When we open the dimension editor, the Structure window shows the correct relationship between the dimension levels and attributes. However, when we look into the details for each level, no attributes are checked, and validating the Dimension gives the following error stack:
VLD-0917: An unknown error occured while generating DIM_ANSATT.
An unknown error occurred while generating DIM_ANSATT. Error details: ENT-06921: Level Attribute NAVN does not refer to any Dimension Attribute.
Translation:
DIM_ANSATT => DIM_EMPLOYEE
NAVN => NAME
We´ve found a workaround, but it´s a bit scary that the objects get corrupted during an upgrade, so we would really like to find the cause and "a real solution" for this problem.
We can reproduce this in both 11.2.0.1 on Windows and 11.2.0.2 on AIX.
Any help would be appreciated.

Problems with multiple Attribute Dimensions

when i try to get data from an Essbase database using the Grid API with more then one Attribute Dimension,
the server needs a very long time to response or doesn't response at all.
I encounter the same behaviour when i perform a query using the Excel Query Designer.
Here is a sample query log output:

As of now , Middleware cannot split the file.
Thing is SAP is creating two Idocs with different message types. Problem is First IDoc contains ORDERS message type but also DELIVERY segments as well. Second IDoc with DELIVERY message tyoe but ORDERS segments as well... This is the problem... I think we are missing some field activation in file for EDIDC record.
As far as I know file port supports the number of IDocs in one file.. Hope TRFC port also supports that
