Problem with Excel file import
Hi,
I am trying the DIAdem 10 Eval and I want to import Excel files with huge amount of data. One file has text headers as
index x y
1 0.58 7.22
2 0.55 6.33
3 0.77 8.34
and another one doesn't have the text headers. Both have three columns and more than 100K rows of data. But I failed to load any of them. The error is "Cannot open Excel file". Any idea what's wrong?

Hi David,
I have a thought, but I don't know if it will work-- that is to read the Excel file out using the ADO data base connection that Microsoft provides for Excel files. There is, in fact, already a DataPlugin on www.ni.com/dataplugins which does this for both Excel and Access files. I'm attaching the DataPlugin below. You just need to detach the *.uri file to your hard drive, then double-click on it with Windows Explorer to register the DataPlugin (you'll get a short "registration succeeded" dialog).
Then in DIAdem-NAVIGATOR right-click on the bloated Excel file and select "Open with..." from the context menu. Then select the "ADO" DataPlugin to use in the loading process. The DataPlugin expects the first line of the Excel file to either contain the name of each column/channel or to contain the first value of each column/channel.
I'm cautiously optimistic that this will work,

Email attachment problems with "excel" files.
I have just upgraded to the iphone 4 from the 3gs and since doing so any emails I receive with excel files attached will not open the attachment? These files openened with no problem on the same email account on my 3gs.
Instead when I download the attachment and go to open it I am met with a page displaying....
"Unable to read document.
An error occured while reading the document."
Has anyone else having this problem or even better anyone know what the fix is to get these files showing up?

KrisAfter much frustration about excel files not opening and repeatedly not getting answers from apple, I think I might have found another way. It seems that the new apple OS does not support older versions of excel. By saving the excel file in question (Save As) to "Microsoft Excel 2007 Workbook" the Workbook opens just fine as an E-mail attachment. If you have macro's you can save as "Microsoft Excel 2007 Workbook (Macro Enabled)" and it works also.
The Workbook in question as far as I was concerned was created in Microsoft Excel 2003.

let me try to explain this because this has happened in past and never found a way to resolve but i lived with it
now that I have a Sony A7R the problem is more serious
Firstly i take pride it making the picture happen all in camera, i use DRO lvl 5 to get enough light, like when i'm shooting at dusk. DRO its like doing HDR but in a single file, it lightens the darks. in my camera i'm happy with results
but when I upload them to lightroom, they come out near black.
allow me to explain
lets say I import 100 images
i double check my preferences and everything is UNCHECKED when it comes to importing options, there is no auto toning, nothing.
as the images import i see a preview in the thumbnail which looks fine.
i double click on one to enlarge it, hence leave grid view.
for a brief 1 or 2 seconds, i see the full image in all its glory but than lightroom does something funny, it darkens the image
one by one as it inspects each image, if it was a DRO image it makes it too dark.
to make this clear, the image is perfect as it was in the beginning but after a few seconds lightroom for some reason thinks it needs to correct it.
how to prevent lightroom from doing this, i want the image exactly as it is, why must lightroom apply a correction>?
i think it has to do something with interpreting the raw file and lightroom applies its own algorithm.
but here is what i dont get.....before lightroom makes the change i'm able to witness the picture exactly as it was taken and want it unchanged..
now i have to tweak each file or find a profile for it which is added work.
any ideas how to prevent lightroom from ruining my images and just leave them as they were when first detected...
there are 2 phases...one is when it originally imports and they look fine
second is scanning each image and applying some kind of toning which darkens it too much.

thing is, there is no DRO jpg to download from the camera
its only ARW. so my understanding is when i use DRO setting, the camera makes changes to the ARW than lightroom somehow reads this from the ARW.
but then sadly reverts it to no DRO settings.
because i notice if i take normal picture in raw mode its dark but if i apply dro to it, it comes out brighter, yet when i d/l the image from camera to lightroom, which is an ARW - there are no jpgs. lightroom decides to mess it up
so in reality there is no point in using DRO because when i upload it lightroom removes it.
is there a way to tell lightroom to preserve the jpg preview as it first sees it.
its just lame, picture appears perfect...than lightroom does something, than bam, its ruined,.
what do i need to do to prevent lightroom from ruining the image? if it was good in the first place. -
A serious issue with excel file read in ODI

Issue with excel file read is that we can read only one file by setting the path from ODBC Data Source Administrator-->System DNS -->Select Work book
what i want to read the dynamic path(Every time I cant go back and set the Work book to select the excel file..
So i came up with a solution to write a Vbscript that convert the excel to csv my problem got solved for dynamic paths the script is as follow:

Step 1. Copy a sample source Excel File and Call it Final.xls .
Step 2. Map this Final.xls to DSN and in Topology call this Final.xls
Step 3. Do the Reversing and Map and test the Interface . Once its done.
Step 4. Create a Package and using a http://odiexperts.com/?p=1426 get the list of all the Excel File
Step 5 . Using this http://odiexperts.com/?p=273 create a Loop to Read the Excel File name
Step 6 . Copy using OdiFileCopy to Final.xls and run your interface .
Step 7. Increment the Loop and copy your next File for Final and run the interface
Step 8 . Finally you will be able to read all the Excel File .
Step 9 . Delete the source file [ Optional ]

please help meI think the real problem is that you don't check the return value from read (it's probably less than data.length indicating an incomplete read). Isn't there a readFully somewhere?

Problem with Excel 2013 on W8 and WD NAS
With my W8 laptop, I get a lot of problem saving excel file on my NAS. I get "we can't save filename.xlsx because the file is in read-only. To keep your changes you'll need to save the workbook with a new name or in a different location..."
I'm alone using the file. Not being use by anyone else.
Exemple: load file "A" from the NAS, can't save it back on the NAS. I save it as "B" on my desktop. Open "B" do some change and try to save it... get " that someone else is using the file....
Only way is to save it one a 3rd name...
I have this issue often but not all the time..
Don't see this with W7pro laptops...

Have you ever try to save Document ,PPT file or Text file to the NAS? Does this issue only occurs with excel file?
what will happen if you copy the file to NAS instead of use the 'save as' feature within excel?
When you open the excel file, if it flagged as read-only, try to right-click the file, check if the read-only option is ticked. Also you can try to save the file as different file format to test this issue.
Also please check if you enable the preview pane, try to disable it .
a) Open File Explorer.
b) Click on View Tab.
c) Click on Preview Pane to view\hide it.

Problem with NEF files from Nikon D4
Hi everyone. I find a problem with nef files from my Nikon D4. When files are open in ViewNX2 (free viewer software from Nikon) they are perfect, as shooted... but in ACR they are very different... I use LR4 or CS5 with ACR 6.7 and the difference seems to be linked at D-Lighting function. My impression is that ACR dont read this option and picture are very very dark that original shootings. Anyone have this problem?
This question used to be answered in the FAQ before they revised it. So, here we go again. ViewNX is capable of reading all of the in-camera settings such as, camera profile, saturation, sharpness and other settings. It is capable of doing this because it is Nikon Software, and they have the ability to program it to read the settings from their raw images. Lightroom does not read those settings from Nikon cameras or any other brand of camera. Part of the reason is that different camera makers store those settings differently.
When I first started using Lightroom I adjusted one of my images that represented what I normally shoot until it looked the way I wanted it. Then I saved those adjustments as my default settings for the camera. From that point onward, whenever I import images those settings are automatically applied, and it takes care of the vast majority of my images. Of course, I still have to make individual adjustments. But my default settings greatly reduce the amount of how they work that I have to do.
Active D-lighting is is one of those features that Lightroom does not recognize. You would be well advised not to use it, or else create a preset to simulate its effect. It will provide no benefit to your Lightroom work.
This is a fundamental difference with Lightroom, and something that must be understood and implemented if you are going to use the program effectively.
I realize this question was asked in the ACR forum and I referenced Lightroom throughout. But the principle is the same, and the recommended procedure is the same. -
I am having problems using mov files imported into a project. I get the message "Not rendered" in the Canvas and clip won't play. Can anyone help?
When clips won't play without rendering in the Timeline, it usually means that the clip's specs don't match the Sequence settings.
A .mov file could be made from any number of codecs; the QuickTime Movie designation is merely a container for video files of all kinds. Since FCE only works with the QuickTime DV codec and the Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) natively, if your mov files aren't one of those two, you need to convert them PRIOR to importing into your FCE project.

If that's the case then you can't use a File object to access a file on a different computer. To access a file on the server, first you will have to put the file in a place on the server where it can be downloaded. Then in your applet you need to get a URL for the file. (The getDocumentBase() method can be used to prevent you from having to hard-code the full URL for the file.) Next, "this.getClass().getResourceAsStream(URL)" gets you an InputStream from which you can read the data from the file. -
We are having a problem with missing files in R7. I've never seen all the files become .FPJ files. They were .htm files and now they are all .fpj - not sure what to do besides change the file extension and try to import all the files back into the project. Our group is quite perplexed.
Result after trying to change file extension:

I have created a new thread as your problem relates to RH7, not the RH8 problem that is running currently. Also I have moved it to the RH HTML forum as it is specific to that edition.
I cannot say RH did not do that but I completely fail to see how. Unlike some specialised programs, RH has no function to change file extensions and if reverting it to HTM does not put things right, then I would say something else has clobbered your project.
You say you are going to use the output files. That is not a simple task. The link below explains what you will need to do.

I am using the compress function in the Mac OS (File > Compress XX) from time to time. Today it does not work anymore. OS 10.5.6
I get a message: The content list cannot be created for compressing.

Problem with Excel output format
Hi Guys,
I am creating a report in XML Publisher (not standalone). I am facing some problems could anyone please help me to figure out the issues.
Is it possible to have all three output format (PDF, HTML & EXCEL) exact (same aligned) only by creating a single RTF Template? I am facing the problem with Excel output format the output format of excel is taking excels cell formatting.
Example Numeric fields --> Right Aligned, text fields --> Left Aligned
One more issue with excel is -ve(negative) values are getting displayed in red and in brackets like ($13) (with red color).
Our client want excel output on priority.
Is there any limitation for excel output format of reports?
It is very urgent for us please help.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

1) What about the negative values?
if any field is displaying negative amount then excel not displaying right value for that:(
2)How can we align header or data?
Do XMLP with EBS provide any solution for formatting in excel?
3) If for the alignment of numeric value we concatenate them with any special character then how can we perform calculation that field?
Here are so many formatting issues do we need to write any code in xml for that?

What is the exact problem with this file?

There is an old form , which was not in use from many days.
Now when we tried to run the form, i got the error saying "FRM-40734:Internal Error:Pl/SQL error occured.", in the login form.
When i tried to open the fmb file in Oracle Forms Builder 6i, i got the following error:
FRM-10102: Cannot attach PL/SQL library d2kwutil. This library attachment will be lost if the module is saved., but the fmb file got open.
