Problem with HelloWorld

Hello,
I am a new user to BPEL. I understand all the concepts, so I downloaded the latest and greatest dev tools (Jdeveloper) and I am trying to complete the hello world example (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/bpel/pdf/orabpel-Tutorial1-HelloWorldTutorial.pdf). The first thing I have noticed is that the example is that it is written for us with eclipse in mind, but i figure I can work it out using jdeveloper. I am up to building the example, but I keep getting an error in this line;
concat( “Hello ”, bpws:getVariableData( 'input', 'payload', '/SyncHelloWorldRequest/input' ))
The compiler is giving the following error;
Attribute bpws:getVariableData not defined on element from
Here is the full snippet of code;
<assign name="createReturnStr">
<copy>
<from expression=concat(“Hello ”, bpws:getVariableData('input','payload','/SyncHelloWorldRequest/input' )) />
<to variable="outputVariable" part="payload" query="/client:SynchHelloWorldProcessResponse/client:result"/>
</copy>
</assign>
Any hints or ideas would be appreciated
Regards
Ben

Are you typing the expression your own?
Please look at the namespace prefix,
Oracle BPEL require namespace prefix at the "query"
To correct the error, please change
<from expression=concat(“Hello ”, bpws:getVariableData('input','payload','/SyncHelloWorldRequest/input' )) />
to
<from expression=concat(“Hello ”, bpws:getVariableData('input','payload','/client:SyncHelloWorldRequest/client:input' )) />

  • New to Jdev: having problem with Helloworld class and the jsp

    Please, i went through the beginner's tour at oracle site and it has been interesting.
    After putting the class name as Hello, the package name as "mypackage1" as in the example, then the extend field as java.lang.object There is always an error saying that "java.lang.object is not a valid base class for this option". Please what can i do, cos it's delaying my practise.
    secondly, practising the jsp stuff is also interesting, but it's not showing the web preview. i mean after designing the stuff myself, it's giving some compilation error.
    What can I do.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    1- Are you running the "Building Your First Program with JDeveloper 10g" located at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe9051jdev/FirstStep/FirstStep.htm
    If not, is it working for you ?
    2- Which exact version of JDeveloper are you running ? (Help -> About)
    You should be running JDeveloper 10.1.2.x.x
    You can get Oracle JDeveloper 10g (Version 10.1.2.1, build 1913) at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/index.html
    look for the chapter "Oracle JDeveloper 10g Production".
    3- Try re-installing JDeveloper (uncompressing the zip file) into a different
    path (ex: C:\JDeveloper10g) and retry the first steps.
    I've retested the "First Steps" against my Windows XP SP2 and it works just fine.

    Hi,
    I have installed jdk1.3.1_20 and have setup java_card_kit-2_1_2. Following the website, I could compile Wallet.java. But some reason the build_samples.bat is not working properly. Looking through the code, when i reach to the line:
    %JAVA_HOME%\bin\jar -xvf %JC21_HOME%\lib\api21.jar (line 46 of the build_samples.bat) it gives me this error:

    I'm actually ok with that part now,
    I'm now having problems with converting Samples section:
    once it reaches the line (whilst running build_samples.bat):
    call %JC21_HOME%\bin\converter -config ..\src\com\sun\javacard\samples\HelloWorld\HelloWorld.opt
    it gives me this error:

    I have already put in this as my javacard_env.bat before i ran everything:

  • Siemens TC 65 - Problem with Debbuging

    Hello!
    Im new here in that forum a newbie at Java ME and my english could be better. So dont punish me for some mistakes! ;-)
    Back to the point: Hopefully you can help me with my current problem.
    First of all, i try to use the Siemens Terminal TC65 and its java functions. Im working with the Eclipse Environment and i also installed the whole software package (Eclipse ME+SDK from Siemens).
    Everything is doing well, except the debbuging of the program - i use the example of "helloworld".
    Debbuging Error at the Console is as follows:
    "Initialize module for debugging ....
         Wrong initialization response received from the module.
         Please insert a SIM and enter PIN.
         No initialization for module debugging is possible!
         Debugging aborted! "
    First of all: Is it necessary to have a Sim-Card plugged in to run a Midlet?
    Second: I add some code to use the AT+CPIN command to enter the pin in the protected void startApp() - part. But still problems with the Initialization of the module!
    Third: The Midlet runs, if i connect before with the Hyperterminal, enter the pin code, close the connection, and debug my Mitlet. But MY Midlet should do it and not with help of the Hyperterminal!
    Last thing: When i use f.i. System.out.println("Pin wird gesendet"); shouldnt it be displayed at the Console-Window?
    So it seems i have several problems with my Emulator! Maybe you cn help me...thx in advance!

  • Problems with classpath and comiling an easy program

    Hello everyone:
    I have downloaded jsdk1.3.1_03, (Windows xp)? what do i type in the class path?
    Once I am done with setting the classpath. I typed the helloworld program, and it give me an error specified path not found).
    Please help, through this.
    Sincerely
    Johanna

    it is problems with compiling and running!!! ,
    everytime I try to comile the helloworld program, it
    state an error like :specific path not found. I set
    the path and classpath to C:\jsdk1.3.1\bin
    is that correct? If you installed the developer's kit into c:\jsdk1.3.1 then that is correct. You need to include the directory where you installed java. Typically, that is c:\jdk1.3.1 for example (and add \bin). You can try to "cd c:\jsdk1.3.1\bin" and try javac again. You must have NO spaces in your Path setting.

    thanks in advance

    can you initate the process from the bpel console successfully?
    if so can you use obtunnel from the installation to trace the soap message (that goes over the wire), my best guess in this case is a problem with a header (holding the wsa information) ..
    after starting obtunnel it will liesten to a custom port, and will forward the request to the engine, so you need to point your client to this new port..

              System.err.println(e.getMessage());
         try{
              con = DriverManager.getConnection(url);
              System.out.println("Database connected..");
         }catch(Exception e){
              System.err.print("Connection Error:");

         // Retrieve the data from the database
         Statement stmt = con.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE,ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
         ResultSet srs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM COFFEEBREAK.COFFEES");
         while (srs.next()){
              String name = srs.getString("COF_NAME");
              float price = srs.getFloat("PRICE");
              System.out.println(name+ "               "+ price);

  • Problems with SoapMessage Handler in SJS AS 8.1

    Hi!
    I try to post it in this forum as well, since there is no response in the WebService forum, and it also seems to be a problem with the application server.
    I have problems with execution of standard soap message handler.
    Both webservice and handler is of "HelloWorld" and is generated in the NetBeans 4.1 IDE and follows the standards of WebService and GenericHandler
    When I try the WebService Runtime testtool integrated in NetBeans, the handler and webservice works fine on the localhost SJS AS 8.1. Then I try to execute the same wsdl from other test environment(like soapscope) and I receive an error from the SJS AS(JAXRPC.TIE.04: Internal Server Error (JAXRPCTIE01: caught exception while handling request: java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.xml.messaging.saaj.soap.impl.TextImpl))
    Then I try to deploy without references to the handler in the webservice.xml, and then webservice works fine.(also through soapscope).
    Is there some server settings that I have missed??
    I also have the latest build of NetBeans 4.1 and a standalone version of SunAppserver 8.1(Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q2 UR2)
    Stacktrace from the server:

    Hope someone have some tips and can help me.
    thanks
    Dag Arvola

    Hi,
    I too use SOAPScope and have faced the same problem.
    With some trial and error figured out that the problem is possibly with the way the XML string is parsed by the Message Handler classes.
    Here is the detail and hope it helps you too. The work around is to remove any white spaces / new line chars following the <Body> tag.
    Rgds, Rajasekhar
    I uploaded a SOAPScope workspace with different message invocations, with the "Message Handler" configured.
    The work space is @
    http://www.mindreef.net/tide/shared/workspace/e36d678cbb35389dd238fa16a8cdeb14
    The 1st Message is the one captured in SOAPScope, while invoked from the NetBeans IDE itself.
    If you observe the 3rd message that failed and the 4th Message that works, the only difference is the string that is posted to the Web Service URI.
    From Resend > Preview Edit
    3rd Message is a properly formatted xml document with the third line reading as just
    <soap:Body>
    where as
    4th Message is not a properly formatted xml document with the third line reading as
    <soap:Body><mrns0:createCustomer>
    Even a <Space> as in "<soap:Body> <mrns0:createCustomer>" causes a SOAP Fault to occur.
