Problem with Lucid Virtu

Hello,
I have MSI Z68 GD65 Mainboard and an old VGA only 19 inch TFT monitor. Till now I was using Lucid Virtu technology which is implemented in the mainboard. But now the problem is the Virtu software is outdated and it gives a strange error stating "time bomb doesn't permit running!" [snapshot attached]. And that company (LUCIDLOGIX) not releasing new version of software. I started a support ticket on their website and they haven't responded yet! Currently I'm using DVA to VGA converter but it fails to handle large resolutions such as 1440x900. So please help me ASAP.

I opened a ticket with them and never got a response either. I don't believe they even answer when msi calls, so yeah... it's like that.

Hi all
I have an issue with Lucid Virtu on my system.
I have reinstalled the OS, Updated the BIOS to the current version, updated the Lucid Virtu Drivers, Updated the Intel HD drivers in device manager and still the same thing occurs.
Setup
Core i3 2100 at stock
8gigs Corsair Vengeance 16000 RAM at stock
Z68A GD55 G3 Board.
250GTS 1gig
Corsair TX750
Stock Voltages
Samsung 32" Full HD TV via 3 meter HDMI cable
System has not BSOD, system is stable with the TV plugged in to the 250GTS and no issues.
Doing a Memtest86-it could be RAM
I think it could be the auto adjust settings on the TV but I have disabled all auto adjust settings that might relate to the TV picture that I can see.
Tried a different HDMI cable-same issue.
Tried different RAM settings for the Lucid Virtu
Tried Microsoft Intel HD drivers via Windows update.
D mode enabled or iMode enabled gets this when plugged into the HDMI slot on mobo:

I removed the card and tried again. Still the same issue regardless of the mode enabled.
I think it could be the graphics on the i3 acting up as you said. I'm sure the motherboard, RAM, GPU and PSU are fine.
Tried different RAM slots too. Nothing.

Problems with second 7970 Lightning Card?

I purchased the MSI 7970 Lightning in May of last year as part of a new build. The other components of the build that affect the running of the machine are:
Asus P8Z77 WS Motherboard
Intel i7 3770K CPU
16GB Mushkin Ram (991991)
Noctua NH-U12P SE2 Cooler
Samsung 830 SSD x2
Samsung Spinpoint F2 1TB HD
Corsair AX850 PSU
Windows 7 Home Premium
USB 3.0 PCIe card with 2 internal and 2 external sockets
Sony CD Drive
With buying such high end products I thought I would have an easy hassle free build as I have built computers before with only one problem build that resulted from a faulty stick of memory. I didn't intend to overclock at all initially and intended but wanted the option to if I needed to in the future.
How wrong was I? The first Lightning card was faulty and would crash before it finished the Kombuster benchmark. The system also suffered from continual 'AMD Driver has stopped responding and has recovered' stutters and occasional crashes even on the desktop. I contacted the merchant I purchased it from and arranged a return. It took a few weeks but I did eventually receive a replacement card through MSI.
Excuse the pun, but Lightning couldn't strike twice I thought, and the next card would work. However, I still got the 'AMD Driver has stopped responding and has recovered' reports and the occasional crashes. This card did at least complete the benchmark so I kept it and put it down to driver issues.
In my quest to resolve the issue I have tried the following:
I trawled the internet looking for probable causes and have tweaked the motherboard bios according to what was recommended on Asus forums to no avail.
I have downloaded the latest bios for the motherboard
I have used the most stable settings recommended in bios so as to cause least stress on a non-overclocked CPU
I have set up my SSD's in non-raid as I read Lucid Virtu MVP doesn't like that
I have done a fresh install of Windows 7 each time I downloaded new drivers for the graphics card so that there could be no old files affecting the driver's operation
I have used graphics drivers from the MSI site for the 7970 and also from AMD without success
I have run Memtest which came up with no errors.
I have also tried using just 8GB of the RAM in various configurations on the off-chance it was a faulty stick despite the Memtest result.
I don't have limitless hours to spend trying to rectify problems with my computer. I tend to work on it when I take a holiday but, again, I can't continually take up all of my holiday time trying to sort this out. Unfortunately many moons later I have still not got a stable computer that is usable (it is intended for my work primarily so i do need it to be stable. I can't afford a crash in the middle of doing my work).
I'd like to get this rig working before the build becomes obsolete. I have built several computers before but would not consider myself an expert so please don't get too technical with the jargon.
I would welcome any suggestions even if it is to arrange another RMA for the 7970.

Ok, I did a fresh install. At first I thought it had been the Lucid MVP software which was causing conflicts because the system appeared stable. The computer would even recover from sleep mode (the stage where the fans stop) without mishap which had never been able to before. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards I got the dreaded hang and the message 'AMD driver stopped responding and has recovered'. It now seems to do this every time I switch the computer on now. I just don't feel I can use this computer in it's current state for work as it's too unreliable. Once the problems start they become much more frequent.
When I enter the Action Center, click 'Maintenance' and check under 'Review your computer's reliability and problem history', I can see multiple reports of 'Video Hardware Error'
Clicking on the report gives this message:

Problem with the new server UCS C220 for set IP to CIMC

We’ve a problem with the new server UCS C220.
We bought two servers UCS C220 M3 for CallManager 8.6 with High Availability.
When we turn on the server during the boot and when it tells us, oppress F8 to enter at the CIMC and set the IP. But it never enters at the CIMC.
Then, we configure our DHCP server and our switch, we connect the three gigabyte ports to our switch to give him an IP to the CIMC, so and then can enter via browser, but neither works.
Note. The dedicated management NIC does not link, the other two ports do make link.
What do you suggest to put an IP to CIMC and start installing our applications?

You may have noticed that there is no DVD rom on the c220. What you need to do is:
Login into the CIMC from your browser
Luanch the KVM
Insert the VMware DVD in your machines drive
On the KVM pop up there should be a tab to mount the drive, after mounting it click on Macros and choose ctrl_alt+delete to restart.
After the VMware OS installs press F2 to enter IP.
Browse to the VMware ip to download the Vsphere client
Open the Vsphere client, enter the ip of the vmware and the username will be root and no password if you did not set one.
You can now upload OVA templates or manually create virtua machine from this enviroment.

Problem with Cyrillic fonts in Mail

I have a problem with Mail mangling Cyrillic fonts. It happens like this:
1. I create a new mail. I set my input locale to Bulgarian - Phonetic.
2. I type out the email and send it to someone (afraid I don't know their config).
3. The other person replies - doesn't seem to matter whether it's in English or Cyrillic. Their reply appears perfectly, and also my quoted original text from 1 is fine in their reply when looking at it in my Inbox.
4. I then reply to their reply in Cyrillic as per step 1 above, except by pressing reply, rather than New Mail.
What happens then is as follows:
a - the recipient receives my email and reads the Cyrillic content just fine
b - the email that appears in my Sent folder has all Cyrillic content in the message from steps 1-4 above mangled. The mangling moves Cyrillic letters about - i.e. all characters are in cyrillic and the same original characters always map to the same character, they're just wrong. e.g. Дени gets mapped to дЕОЙ. Стефан maps to уФЕЖБО.
This is a bit annoying - as I have no record of the sent mail, and you're never quite sure whether the mangling is just in the sent folder or whether the recipient is also getting the mangled text.
Any thoughts? I haven't been able to find anyone with a similar problem on these forums.

My mac has the following input locales installed:

It might be helpful to add that in Mail->Preferences->Composing the setting is Plain Text.
And also that if I reply to myself all day long, this problem doesn't occur - its only when replying to someone else.

Problem with display of accented characters

Since 10.6 installation, in Safari, Firefox and OpenOffice, accents are way up high above the characters they are supposed to go with.

Are you talking only about pdf's?
If not, it sounds like it could be a font problem. If you are talking about ordinary text you are typing or viewing in OpenOffice, could you send me a screenshot showing the font being used (tom at bluesky dot org)? Does it happen with the font switched to Lucida Grande?

I see that you have a very thin doctype at the top. I suggest you create a new page in Dreamweaver and copy the bit at the top of the page:

I see that you have two opening <body> tags. Delete one; it is not needed. Add the preload images from the second into the first body tag and delete the second.
I see code below the closing </html> tag. Re position it before the closing </body> tag.
Because of these errors mentioned above, it was impossible to see the page. Fix and reply here when you have done so.
Also, it is not possible for me to divine what difficulty you are having. If you can please also express it in English (LOL), I'll be happy to suggest a correction for you!

Problem with Image positioning

Hello everyone I am having a problem with the positioning of an image I want to sit on top of the background in DW. I want it to sit on top of the background because I want to use a behaviour effect so that it fades in. Anyway, I go to Insert and choose the image I want, and it shows up in the top-left corner of my DW, which I expect it to. However, I want the Image to sit a lot further down the page (and eventually at the center). So, I select the image and go to the "V Space" in the properties panel and I alter the value in it so that the image will be positioned further down the page. However, when I do this for some reason the whole page shifts to the left a little and I also get a scroll bar that makes the page a lot longer, which I don't want. Does anybody know why this is happening and what I could do to prevent it? I will attach a "before" and "after" screenshot so you can see what I mean a little more clearly.
If you can see the whole page shifts slightly to the left and I get a scroll bar which makes the page a fair bit longer. I've also experimented a little by moving the image down bit by bit and found that everything is fine until I cross around 200 on "VSpace"- after that is when the page shifts and I get the scroll bar.

Photoshop CS5 not working with Lucida Grande Regular font

On my iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, I am running OS 10.6.7.
When using Photoshop CS5, if I try to use the font, Lucida Grande Regular, it causes an error.
"Could not use the type tool because of a program error."
When I try to open an existing file that has type layers that include the font Lucida Grande Regular, Photoshop will not open the file. I have several of these files that I want to use. I can open them on another Macintosh and everything works fine.
First I get a message window that says, " Some text layers might need to be updated before they can be used for vector based output. Do you want to update these layers now?" I click on update and then get the following message. "Could not complete your request because of a program error."
I have updated Photoshop CS5 to the latest version, 12.0.4.
I have run the FontTest.jsx script and it shows an error for Lucida Grande Regular.
(IOError: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop.

The other 100+ fonts on my machine did not create errors.
Since Lucida Grande Regular is an essential font for Mac OS X, I re-installed OS 10.6 in order to have a new version of Lucida Grande Regular. After that re-install I am having the same problems with the font not working in Photoshop.
It also does not work with Adobe InDesign CS5. The font does work in Microsoft Word.
The program Font Book verifies Lucida Grande Regular.
Other fonts including, Lucida Grande Bold, work fine in Photoshop and InDesign.
What can I do to get Photoshop CS5 to work with Lucida Grande Regular?

Wow, I'm so glad I found this thread. This problem has been dogging me for years, and it's so sporadic that I've been afraid of breathing the wrong way lest I somehow incur that diabolical Program Error dialog. I'd managed to reach a truce with Photoshop CS5, getting it into a barely working state, and avoiding all updates... until Lion came along today. Then I updated to CS5 12.0.4, and the Program Errors were back again.
Now I see that the problem does seem to be related to the Lucida Grande font. If there's a layer with that font in it, not only can I not edit that text, but I can't marquee select anything, nor drag any shapes. Deleting caches and massaging fonts are completely ineffectual measures... but if I delete the Lucida layers entirely, we're back in business.
At least so far.
Funny to think that of all the innovations I'd like to see Photoshop adopt, the fixing of this one issue is the thing I'd like to see most. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread, and any updates by Mr. Cox.

Problem with mutated vowel

Hello,
since I use Acrobat 9.0, I have a problem with the display of one mutated vowel: when I copy a text from an Acrobat-generated PDF-document and paste it into a Word document (Office 2004 and Office X) only the display of the German "ü" is not correct, when I use the "Optima" or "Arial" fonts.
With the Arial font an "u" followed by a square symbol is displayed.
With the Optima font the two points are shifted to the right side.
"ä" and "ö" and all capital letters are displayed correctly.
When I try "find/replace" in Word, the incorrect "ü" is not found.
Does anybody know a solution for this problem?

Hey Paul and Graffiti,
thank you for your hints. The umlaute (mutated vowels - ä,ö,ü) are direct keys on a German keyboard. So it's not the problem to find the "ü" or a keystroke to insert. The problem seems to be in the step of conversion from the Acrobat and the display in a text editor after pasting.
Fonts like Baskerville, Big Caslon, Courier, Futura, Geneva, Helvetica, Lucida Grande, Palatino display the lower "ü" correctly.
Arial, Times, Times New Roman and all "TTF-fonts" don't, if I paste. When typed directly, the ü is displayed correctly.
Unfortunately, applications to regulatory health authorities require the font Times New Roman. Of course, I could correct each vowel by deleting and typing "ü" by hand, but my manuscripts are normally about 50 pages . . .

Font problems with dreamweaver on Mac

Hi, i installed dreamweaver cs3 as a part of web premium
suite on intel mac os x 10.4.10. My international settings are set
to Turkish. There are some oddities with fonts. Dreamweaver font
list displays some fonts with CE suffix (Helvetica CE, Lucida
Grande CE ...) but these fonts are not installed on my computer.
How does dreamweaver displays these fonts? I checked the install
log and couldn't find where these fonts are located. Other
applications in the web premium package doesn't show these fonts.
Also, dreamweaver is having problems with Turkish characters
if I don't use these fonts. For example, I want to use default
operating system fonts Helvetica or Lucida Grande (which have
Turkish character support and works fine with Adobe Photoshop CS3
and Illustrator CS3) in css font family but Dreamweaver can not
display Turkish characters with these fonts. If I use Helvetica CE
instead of Helvetica, Turkish characters are displayed without any
problem but this is not an option because most people have
Helvetica (not Helvetica CE). Previously I was using Dreamweaver MX
2004 on windows and didn't have any problems with Turkish
characters.

I have this type of code in the old pages on my body text I'm guessing it's because in most of my pages i.e. old dreamweaver mx days I've selected the text and formatted with the property inspector instead of css by mistake.

So I've followed your advice and searched and replaced the former with the later on the dreamweaver template page and on a few individual pages, hoping that will allow me to eventually use css to adjust it all.
I am very very tempted to do a global search and replace with changing

but I'm kinda worried if I don't do each page manually and test each one, all 148 pages, oh joy, and check something it could bork my site in ways i'll take forever to find out and fix. Am I correct in worrying about this?

Crap - sorry, I typed too quick, the upstream source if fine. But as that PKGBUILD does some odd things, I missed the problem. The simplest (but far from best) fix is to change the lines in the package function to the following:

Z68A GD80 G3 Lucid Virtu Installation

1st of all, here are my specs
i7 2600k
Super Flower 600W Golden Green
Gskill 12800 CL9 Dual 8GB RipjawsX
Sapphire HD 5850 Xtreme
I buy brand new Sapphire 5850 Xtreme and trying to use LucidVirtu to optimize onboard and discrete graphic and also power saving.
my current BIOS is 18.8 (that's what I saw on the UEFI)
when I use discrete GPU, on Virtu Installation, they said that I need to enable the onboard GPU.
I turn off, go to bios, integrated graphics configuration,
enabled lucid vritu on d-GPU mode, and it stuck on Windows Startup logo and reboot.
next try, change lucid virtu on i-GPU mode, change the LCD cable into motherboard DVI. still... stuck on Windows Startup logo and reboot.
how's this gonna work?

With the monitor connected to the discrete card, UEFI/BIOS setting to PEG, Virtu function 'enabled', do you have multi monitor 'enabled'? In this configuration, 'd' mode is used. The Software Application User Guide that came with the mainboard explains & provides a decent explanation of how it all gets set up & works.

A problem with threads

I am trying to implement some kind of a server listening for requests. The listener part of the app, is a daemon thread that listens for connections and instantiates a handling daemon thread once it gets some. However, my problem is that i must be able to kill the listening thread at the user's will (say via a sto button). I have done this via the Sun's proposed way, by testing a boolean flag in the loop, which is set to false when i wish to kill the thread. The problem with this thing is the following...
Once the thread starts excecuting, it will test the flag, find it true and enter the loop. At some point it will LOCK on the server socket waiting for connection. Unless some client actually connects, it will keep on listening indefinatelly whithought ever bothering to check for the flag again (no matter how many times you set the damn thing to false).
My question is this: Is there any real, non-theoretical, applied way to stop thread in java safely?
