Problem with oracle packages CREATE PACKAGE some packagename in MaxDB

Hi All,
I am having Problems in Creating Packages from MaxDB ..Does MaxDB supports the CREATE PACKAGE <some packagename>concept ? if so please help me how to achieve in creating packages ..
My sample Oracle package Creation is as follows:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY acs
AS
  FUNCTION add_user (
    user_id     IN users.user_id%TYPE DEFAULT NULL,
    object_type     IN acs_objects.object_type%TYPE DEFAULT 'user',
    creation_date   IN acs_objects.creation_date%TYPE DEFAULT sysdate,
    creation_user   IN acs_objects.creation_user%TYPE DEFAULT NULL,
    creation_ip     IN acs_objects.creation_ip%TYPE DEFAULT NULL,
  ) RETURN users.user_id%TYPE
  IS
    v_user_id       users.user_id%TYPE;
    v_rel_id        membership_rels.rel_id%TYPE;
  BEGIN
    v_user_id := acs_user.new (user_id, object_type, creation_date,
                creation_user, creation_ip, email, ...
    RETURN v_user_id;
  END;
END acs;
show errors Can you Please Explain me how to write the same Package in MaxDB?
Thanks & Regards,
Shanmukh

Hi Shanmukh,
MaxDB does not have packages like you'll find them in Oracle.
But you can define your own functions and procedures.
From the code-example you posted, I would say that a procedure will do it ...
I suggest that you first read the documentation on procedures [CREATE DBPROC Statement|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/a7/41ee11605911d3a98800a0c9449261/frameset.htm]
There you'll also find an example in the Tutorial section.
Be aware that the procedural capabilities of MaxDB are far less enlarged as in Oracle - but they do exist and work in their realm.
So porting a full PL/SQL application layer to MaxDB procedures may turn out to be quite difficult and/or not the best choice at all.

    I keep getting the following error message when I try to update my itunes, "There is a problem with this windows installer package. Aprogram run as part of the set up did not finish as expected.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

    Yes, I had found a similar solution also.  I'm running XP Pro, SP3.  I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair.  Then run the 10.5 exe.
    While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess.  Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes.  Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing.  I haven't begun to work on that.

    When Upgrading on my laptop from iTunes 10.2.11 to 10.5.0 the message I get is: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package.  Aprogram run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or pacakge vendor.

    After reading all these posts, one by one did not resolve my problem until I got the very end.  Regardless of what step would resolve your problem, these are the steps I would recomment to everyone for a what seems to be a safe and fool-proof upgrade to iTunes 10.5.
    1. Stand alone upgrade to the latest Quicktime version
    2. Go to control panel and "change" then select repair to the following applications in the order specified by the post on Oct 27. (Notice I skipped Quicktime because it had been upgrade manually,and Bonjour did not have a "repair" option)
    iTunes; Apple Software Update: Mobile Device Support; Apple Applications Support
    Some of these applications may not appear if they do not apply to your configuration (no iPhone, or no iPad, or other apple devices).
    Once all updated, I did not need to restart nor launch any applications, I simply went straight into the 10.5 upgrade, and where it normally got stuck, this time the installation continued for a while longer until it completed successfully.
    Great work everyone who contributed!  Thank you very much!

  • 'There is a problem with this Windows installer package'

    iTunes won't install. I keep getting the following message midway through installation;
    'There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.'
    It all happened a while ago when iTunes tried to update, it crashed straight after initiating the download so I closed it down. Upon opening iTunes again it would just keep crashing so I decided to uninstall iTunes altogether and reinstall the latest version.
    Now I'm met with this message every time I try and install the **** thing, I followed the series of troubleshooting like uninstalling all the iTunes files and quicktime ones then trying to reinstall, I tried clearing my AppData Temp folder then reset and tried again and got the same error, then I tried running the windows clean up utility (Which when I ran I found iTunes wasn't present).
    I'm completely at a loss can ANYONE please help me? I assume theres a corrupted file somewhere from the original crash but the case is where and what can I do to fix it?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks.

    If all the basics have failed try deep cleaning the registry and by that I mean
    using regedit to "find" every iTunes ,quicktime etc key and reference and delete them this will then give you a machine that has never seen iTunes.
    Why do this because iTunes and the other attendant programs leave legion of entries that are not removed by any cleaner I have found .The repeated updating and or installing of iTunes creates this detritus that has confused an installation usually the point at which you post here.This is nothing new in Windows other software vendors have realised this problem and for instance Norton
    have a tool that removes all evidence of their AV installation in fact you run it twice to be 100% when having problems with an installation.Until Apple produce a similar tool this is the only way I have come across to solve the multiple
    problems users find However to be fair millions of users update itunes every week and have no problems so the chances of it being Apple's fault are very very slim it is unfortunately likely to be an unfortunate combination of issues as mentioned above
    BUT if you do not understand regedit do not attempt it get someone who does to help

  • A problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run" when trying to install iTunes

    I received the above error message when trying to install the newest iTunes. So after some searching I decided that uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes should fix the problem. I was able to uninstall iTunes. But - the Apple software updater that came with the last iTunes update (late summer) won't uninstall. I receive the same message when I try to uninstall the updater. How can I get the updater off my computer so that I can reinstall iTunes?

    Hello,
    This is my first time using itunes! can someone help me please.
    When i try to install the itunes, it prompted me a message that says
    "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
    And i called up APPLE and they ask me to use the 6-steps uninstall mathod but i couldnt find any apple software update to uninstall so i ignore. and i tried downloading again and again but it stil doesnt works.
    Can someone guide me how to install itunes?
    Thank you so much

    OK, so you don't have a working iTunes.
    What I would like to do now is to try installing each iTunes component separately.
    First uninstall the 5 iTunes programs that you have installed.
    You should have iTunesSetup.exe saved in a folder on your PC, probably in the downloads folder. If not download and save it now.
    Open the folder containing iTunessetup.exe with explorer.
    Next open notepad and copy the following 3 lines into it.
    md temp
    itunessetup /extract temp
    pause
    Save the file as extract.bat into the same folder that contains the itunes installer.
    Open the downloads folder and you should find the extract file that you saved. Double click on it and a black window will open telling you what it is doing. When its finished, press any key to continue.
    You should find that a folder called temp has been created containing all the itunes msi files.
    Install in this order by double clicking on them:
    Apple Application Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Apple Software Update
    Quicktime
    iTunes
    If one of the installs fails, stop and post the error message in full. I am hoping that by doing this separately we will get a better error message.
