Problem with Overlays
I have been using DVD Studio Pro for awhile and all of a sudden my overlays are not working. I create my DVD menu in Photoshop and create a separate file for my overlay. I have used overlay files as both .jpg and .png. When I simulate the disk, all of the buttons and the overlays work fine. When the DVD is done burning and I go to play the DVD, the button overlays are no longer there. So it looks like the other buttons don't exist. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Hi, I'm having the same problem. I'm teaching this at University, but it was during a class where this happened. I hope it's not something incredibly simple - that would be embarrassing.
Even last night it worked fine for me, bringing an overlay file, even using a layer from the .psd file as the overlay on the menu. But all of a sudden it didn't work when I did the same thing today. I'm teaching in a room with 22 Macs, (Imac duals 3.0ghz and dual xeon mac pros) and it worked on some but not others. The issue is when you load an overlay file over a menu background, then draw a button around the overlay area the overlay doesn't show up. You can play with colours, play with states, everything that should work doesn't, until you simulate. Then it works fine (an overlay you created blind). What makes me think it;s a bug was that I logged out of finder, then logged back in, did the same thing but it worked. Then stopped working. Sometimes when clicking on it, the overlay would work briefly, a split second but then never come back.
The machine I'm on is mac Pro, dual core 2.66ghz, 8g Ram, OSx v10.5.6
Photoshop is CS4 v11.0, and DVD Studio Pro is v4.2.1
Any ideas here would be great! I have two more classes to deliver tomorrow...
Thanks.

Bubble chart - problem with overlaying bubble
Hi all,
I have problem with bubble chart. Two bubbles are overlaying, that wouldn't be a problem, but one of this two bubbles is bigger and other is smaller. This smaller is beneath bigger. Why smaller is not on top of bigger? How to solve this?
ThanksHi Andrew,
We have experienced similar problems, however they usually were with much larger models (10+ tabs, 10+ components in each).
If you're using a lot of data or more intensive processes/components, that may have caused the problem to express earlier, though.
The best recommendation is to keep Tabset use shallow: don't embed containers within containers, not too many components in a tab, not too many tabs. -
Problems with Overlay Layout - can anyone spot something wrong/missing?
Hi folks, I'm developing a tool that allows you to draw rectangles around objects on an image. The rectangles are then saved, and you can move between images. For some reason, though my rectangles are not drawing on the panel. I am using the Overlay Layout. Can anyone spot what I'm doing wrong? (The TopPanel canvas appears to be there, as it's taking input from the mouse - the problem is simply that the red rectangles are not drawing on the panel). Please help!!
So you know, there is a JFrame in another class which adds an instance of the ObjectMarker panel to it. It also provides buttons for using the next and previous Image methods.
Any other general advice is appreciated too.

EricAlright so I fixed it! I created a new class called BottomPanel extends JPanel, which I then gave the responsibility of drawing the image. I gave it an update method which took the details of the currentImage and displayed it on the screen.
If anybody's interested I also discovered/solved a problem with my mouseListener - I couldn't drag backwards. I fixed this by adding tests looking for negative widths and heights. I compensated accordingly by reseting the rectangle origin to e.getX(), e.getY() and by setting the to original_origin.x - e.getX() and original_origin.y - e.getY().
No problem! -
Problem with overlay... I think
Ok- Working in MOTION 2
I've made a graphic that takes up the entire screen. Then I've cut it up so that different elements take off in diff. directions to reveal a video clip underneath.
I am doing this by bringing the graphic project file into FCP and simply putting it on the layer above my video.
This is where I have the problem. As it is starting to reveal the video there is a grey tint on the video as if there is a slightly transparent layer there. I've checked and there definitely isn't. As soon as the motion project file ends the video returns to its normal color. If I extend the motion project, even though it is black I still have the grey tint.
I've tried changing the Alpha type in FCP and am not really sure what else to check in Motion.
One note- When I change the composite mode of the motion clip in to add in FCP the video is perfect. But the graphic is then screwed. Any help is greatly appreciated as I have to get this one figured out in the next couple of hours.what codec are you working in? In sounds like you are clipping off the whites, maybe superwhites if you are using DV
Check your render settings in FCP.

Problem with overlays in photoshop cs6
Hello, when I put this http://cjoint.com/13au/CHiaZT3ASRo.htm (I created) image on a forest it gives me this: what http://cjoint.com/13au/CHia3vEuTyN.htm is not what I want, I am simply remove the black sheet without keeping the transparancy
thank you for your assistance
Sorry for the translation, I'm FrenchHi,
When you created the image (leaf) did you do it on a transparent layer before saving as a png file?
You want something like this: -
OK WE HAVE DONE IT AN ORANGE PROTECTIVE SCREEN OVERLAY FOR IPOD AND IPAD STOPPING JOHN'S SEIZURES AND STOPPING EYE PROBLEMS WITH USAGE ABLE TO CUT ANY SIZE FOR PHONES EG
Contact me Steve the idea is great and the pictures are reveal a better depth perception of colour call me a Mum that created a diffence for her son and kept him communicating on his ipod and his ipad proffessors were amazed at childrens hospital and would love to show you my ideas in making it built in to your ipod and ipads or any computer for that matter everyone i show is blown away not only that but a wider customer level will be reached from a Mum that made a difference for her son that was unable to communicate and then had seizures so developed my own cover that allows him to chat all day without having any eye problems.
So we now sell the covers on ebay to help others access technology that they need in order to survive and live happily as without his ipod or ipad and him telling us what was wrong he would of died he had respritory lung disease photosensitive epilepsy a metabolic condition that could of killed him anytime from stroke or seizure battled with using all types of technology but now is a dream come true.
Would love for this to be enabled in the setup of all computers alike to protect eyes and allow more users to speak and communicate a big thankyou to the creators and designers fabulous but please can you call me as this could make you even better i mean will and also give me more time.
From one praying God fearing Mum
Nadine
Call me i do have better pics they were too big to upload orange covering on right hand sideGoing through the feedback and support pages will be a waste of your time. Apple won't respond to feedback, and support can't do anything regarding product suggestions, particularly not from a company with an existing product they wish to sell. The only attention you might get from Apple would be possible interest in selling your product through the Apple Stores, and I don't know how Apple chooses the third-party products they sell. All I could suggest would be writing to Apple's corporate headquarters:
Apple
1 Infinite Loop
Cupertino, CA 95014
with perhaps "Attention: Retail Sales Division" and telling them about your product and your interest in it being sold through the Apple Stores.

Just for information, but I built myself a HTPC system using the Media Live, the same WinTV Nova-DT 500 tuner as topic starter and Windows Vista Home Premium.
I also got the same stuttering problem, which I discovered is caused by the default built-in Microsoft MPEG2 codec.
Fix:
# Purchase and install a third-party MPEG2 (DVD) codec, such as PowerDVD, WinDVD or Nvidia Pure Decoder.
# Download and run the Vista Decoder Selection Tool
# Change your video decoder from the Microsoft MPEG2 codec to the one you just installed
# Restart Windows Media Center, and you should find the stuttering a lot better. Any stuttering I get now, I know is down to bad TV signal!
Thank your post, Mr. Stu
The same stuttering problem in Vista confused me a lot of time.
Now, I will try to fix the issue by your suggestoin. -
Some problems with 3D with xorg 1.9.2-1 and xf86-video-intel 2.12.0-3
I have some problems with the upgrade to xorg 1.9.1-1 and xf86-video-intel 2.12.0-3. Glxgears does not run smoothly at all and I got 15-20 fps (instead of the normal 60 because intel should sync with the V refresh rate). Very curiously, these problems disapear if I move the mouse cursor somewhere in the screen. Then glxgears run smooth and I have indeed the expected 60 fps
There are no error messages and glxinfo say that 3D is indeed enabled.

I have indeed not seen other problems. Presently the only other software that I believe use openGL that I use is googleearth; which run fine. Could it be a problem with glxgears? -
Lenovo 3000 n200 problem with usb tv-stick
hi guys,
i have a problem with my lenovo 3000 and the hvr-900 usb tv-stick from hauppauge. driver installation and software installation from wintv is no problem. finding the channels ist also no problem. sound is good but i have no pictures... the display ist black.
my grafik chip is the intel GMA X3100 onboard. i thought it was a problem with the overlay function. the wintv software shows me "surface vmr" on my old desktop with the old wintv pci card it shows me "surface overlay".
internet tv (tvu, tv ants...) works without any difficulties. but i can`t find a function to activate "overlay".
has anyone an idea? thanks for helping.i try an older usb machine from hauppauge which supports analog only (the new stick supports analog/digital) and... it works... the wintv software shows me "surface overlay"... crazy...
now i use this until i find a solution for the stick ;-)
thanks for helping -
Problem with Classroom in a book
I have been working through the lessons in Adobe Premier Elements 11 Classroom in a book and am having a problem with Lesson 6 "Creating a Picture-in-Picture overlay. the lesson comes with Greenscreen.mov file to be used in the lesson but when I try to use it I get the error message in a pop up "This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed. As this is the file downloaded from the CD that came with the book and can't understand why I am having a problem using it.
Ermananda
It appears that my first impression of your situation was correct, that is, another Classroom in a Book corrupt/damaged lesson file as confirmed by nealeh's detailed post numbered 5.
You may want to bookmark this thread and the link to the publisher since you may run into other corrupt/damaged files are you proceed through the book's lessons.
Regarding what you wrote
As a further note I went on to lesson 7 creating transitions. You start by openning Lesson07_Start_Win.prel. It tells me to open the file Lesson07_Movie.mov in the project assets panel and to open and play it in the preview window. When I do that the greenscreen.mov that I could not open in lesson 6 appears to be running in the preview mode but maybe that is because the whold clip is done together as a completed mov file??
That might be explained by nealeh's report that the greenscreen.mov exists in more than one place.
The following is the link to the Premiere Elements 12 Help PDF. You might want to cross check with it as you go through your book's lessons.
http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/premiere-elements_reference.pdf
Give the keyframing another look. If problems with the concept and its working through, please let us know and we can provide some step by step information on that.
Glad for the opportunity to be of assistance. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need any help with your Premiere Elements workflows.
Thanks.

Problem with JavaScript in DPS
Hello,
i have little problem with one HTML page in DPS. We've created HTML form, which is formatting output with JavaScript and then passing to local mail client via mailto. It works nicely in Safari on desktop, it works in Safari on iPad BUT it don't work in DPS, when we use it as HTML content (frame on page where form is loaded). Unfortunately, there is no way how to learn what's wrong - on iPad it works, it's not working just in DPS (and it's not working in Viewer on desktop too).
Anyone have any idea what to do?
Script is fairly simple, it's my compilation of other works, because i'm not JS programmer, just i'm skilled with google-copy-paste... So there can be some VERY trivial error, but i don't know correct syntax...
very simple version of this form, which is not working in DPS (but everywhere else), is here
http://dl.optio.cz/mailtoExample.html
Thanks for any help!Hello,
when used in DPS browser, it's working (as part of HTMLresources.zip). I don't know if this will help, but here is small game, which works correctly in DPS in web overlay. when you move any red circle, it will let you send results via email. But this is too complicated for my minimal skills.

Anyway, thanks for help

Problems with DPS on Mac OS 10.8.2
Hi,
Two of my students (Digital Publishing at SintLucas Eindhoven, Netherlands) are having problems with their Folio Overlays and Folio Builder. They are working on Mac OS 10.8.2 and the Folio Overlays panel is there, but just doesn't work.
In the Folio Builder there is a message "you do not have a compatible digital publishing plug-in" with a download link. They have downloaded an installed this and the Application Manager says everything is up-to-date, but the Folio Overlays panel still doesn't work and the Folio Builder still has the same message.
Does anybody have a solution for this problem?
Ronald den Bekker
Teacher Digital PublishingTry this:
1. Uninstall Adobe air.
2. Restart Mac.
3. Re-install DPS tools from : http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ -

Peferling
==================
Boy, you are not kidding, I was running both the cloud and CS6, and I was ready to throw in the towel.
I have changed computer's twice now, have a solid state hd, (which I love) with 10 terabytes on externals, I run NOTHING except adobe's stuff on my HD now, and only one version of it, and it runs like a dream.
So, I updated the OS to win 8.1, updated my peripherals,
I dumped CS6 (hated to, but for some reason my 3D won't work on it, it works fine with the cloud) but in CS6 the software was turning it off after adobe's last update.
I've made a virtual machine for my development environments which do not play well with adobe's stuff.
My rule of thumb has always been double what the manufacturer states is required for RAM, but imho, with my current upgrades: upgraded to win8.1, and other peripherals, spent two weeks changing stuff over and it's about 100 times better than trying to run CC and CS6. - No kidding, the change is astronomical
But for anything PC I'm way over powered, and for Adobe, I'm still underpowered.
Next, I'll just get a mac for Adobe, and stick with my pc's for ms/CentOS. Too, it seems like since the cloud was initiated Adobe is rolling out the updates faster and changes without warning. The processor/3D issue, I had no warning on it, just woke up one day and "no more 3d" :S
But I do love the cloud, so, guess there's got to be some dark lining to it. <g> -
I am not able to install 9.0.2 on my Mac Pro. I have tracked it down to the "AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg", which returns an error when updating the system extension configuration. Is there anybody out there, who already worked around this problem? Find below an excerpt from my install.log containing one install attempt:

Okay ... it sounds like they've taken you all the way through the following document:
[Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926]
... so we'll try something different.
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
In recent times, I've seen a couple of cases of that message caused on Vista boxes, when the user account that the person was doing the install from inside lacked correct permissions on their C:\Program Files\ folder. They got similar symptoms to you ... some things installed, some things didn't. (It seems to differ from PC to PC precisely what ends up happening.)
So, go "Start > Computer". In "Computer", open your C drive (or whichever drive your Program files are stored on). Right-click "Program Files", and select "Properties". Click the "Security" tab.
Select the name of your User account in the list. Does that account have full control over the folder? If not, grant yourself full control.
After the Tab has done its thing, okay out, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

This sure is fun!!!
I'm trying to get rid of an old numbering imprint on a film(not digital) image.Actually the overlay option is helpful. It shows the region that you are copying - and i dont think thats causing the issue.
The issue is because you dont have the clip option checked along with Overlay.
Just make sure you have both Overlay and Clipped options checked and you would not see this problem anymore.
