Problem with resonse.sendRedirect in WebSphere 5

For some reason, when we use the HTTP-plugin for WAS5, none of the calls to response.sendRedirect in our Web application work. The result is simply a DNS error which says that the server cannot be found. However, if we run the application directly in WAS5 on port 9578 without going through the HTTP-plugin, then response.sendRedirect works fine.
Does anyone else recognize this problem? We have to solve this soon, as one of our primary customers wants to upgrade to WAS5. Thanks!
/Arthur

I am presumming that you are using WebSphere 5.0.2 under OS390 or z/OS and HTTP Server 5.3. If my assumption is correct, there was a problem in the HTTP Server that was addressed when WAS 5.0.2 went past version 009. WAS 5.0.2 would generate two 502 response headers from this point on unless the HTTP server was patched. I don't have the details to hand at the moment and will repost 9/5/05 if you reply and are still having the same problem.

  • Problems with binding Object (JNDI/WebSphere)

    Hello.
    I'm trying to bind my objects on WebSphere Application Server 5.0 from stand-alone java application running on remote machine (IBM JRE).
    Java source code on remote JVM:
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory");
    props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, corbaloc:iiop:tisproject:2811);
    final InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(props);
    Object obj = ctx.lookup("");
    ctx.bind("MailService", new MailService());class MailService, of course, implements Serializable
    I also use property file on client side to connect to remote WAS: sas.client.props with following properties:
    com.ibm.CORBA.authenticationTarget=BasicAuth
    com.ibm.CORBA.loginSource=properties
    com.ibm.CORBA.loginUserid=wpsadmin
    com.ibm.CORBA.loginPassword=wpspassword
    I consider, that the problem is a kind of security issue, but i can't find the solution. Please, tell me what should I do.
    I have the following stacktrace:

    Hi, I was wondering if you ever managed to resolve this issue. I am having a similar problem. I'm wanting to store an object in JDNI so that it can be referenced by all the servers in our distributed environmant. It works ok for me in mt developemt environment (RAD 6), but that is only because I have global security turned off, as soon as it's deployed to a server with global security turned on it doesn't work, I have read soo much over the past few days and have found that it is to do with the permissions that are set up in the admin console under Server>Environment>naming there are two roles here one is All_Users and the other is All_Authenticated, by default All_Users has read access only.
    This is as far as I have got at the moment, I am now looking at how to use these roles from my application without expecting the user of the app to log on, I have found some articles about using JAAS to do this, but I haven't found any good explanations about it or any good examples.
    Aside from that is you are just wanting to make your MailService globally available you should look at Dynamic caching, this is a Distributed Map API that will allow you to hold an object in the jndi Tree in a Map using a key, I have gone this route, but am still needing to know how to work with JNDI directly for storing objects.
    This is the code I am using:
    //lookup name given to the distributed map object
    private static final String JNDI_DIST_MAP_LOOKUP = "services/cache/distributedmap";
    private void cacheTree(Collection tree) {
              logger.debug("TreeNodeManager: cacheTree called");
              //TreeNodeManager.tree=tree;
              try {
                   DistributedMap distMap = (DistributedMap) getContext().lookup(
                             JNDI_DIST_MAP_LOOKUP);
                   if (logger.isDebugEnabled()) {
                        logger
                                  .debug("TreeNodeManager: cacheTree: Storing tree in distributedMap '"
                                            + JNDI_DIST_MAP_LOOKUP
                                            + "' using Key:'"
                                            + DIST_MAP_KEY + "'");
                   distMap.put(DIST_MAP_KEY, tree);
              } catch (NamingException e) {
                   logger.error(e);
         }

  • Problems with the JNDI in Websphere App Server for Linux .

    I'm working with EJBs and I have tested mine with WTE in VAJ. The problem is when I try to access them on a remote client. What I have done so far:
    1:export the bean group to a Jar File
    for the administration "Web page"
    2:add an application by selecting the good Jar file
    3:I set the JNDI name
    4:save the new server configuration
    5: restart the WAS server.
    We have tryed to bind on the initial context (from
    CNInitialContextFactory) and we had an Operation not supported exception. The lookup was giving a exception saying that it couldn't find the object. (We think that the CNInitialContextFactory is unknown on the server.
    We are wondering if there could be some compatibility issue because the server uses java 1.3 and us 1.2.2 (VAJ 3.5.3). On the linux Server java 1.1.8 is also installed but WAS comes with its own java version. The path in the administration "web page" for the path for java is set. (the path from linux console is on java1.1.8 but that shouldn't matter right ? )
    thanks for your help

    Compatibility issues would not through an ObjectNotFound Exception. Maybe the problem is as simple as a class path issue. What object was not found- the Context class or the Object that you were attempting to bind to some name?

  • MINOR CODE PROBLEM WITH AXIS,EJB,WSAD,WEBSPHERE

    Hi All,
    I am using below environment
    client side
    ANT + Sun 1.4.2 JRE
    JIBX (DE)SERIALIZERS, JIBX BINDING
    AXIS 1.2 RC2 STUBS
    server side

    AXIS 1.2 RC2
    JIBX BETA 3D
    WSAD 5.1.2
    WEBSPHERE 5.0 Test Environment
    Basically I used WSAD 5.1.2 to code my EJB's. When I run my web service java client program to access a ejb web service exposed using AXIS,JIBX (DE)SERIALIZERS, WEBSPHERE 5.0 I am getting below exception on client side and no exception atleast in my server console. I guess the cause of this error is I used Sun 1.4.2 JRE on the client side to construct custom types and
    passed them to server which uses IBM JRE 1.3.1 inside WebSphere 5.0 Test Environment. I am not sure may be it is a guess. If so how to ask ANT on take IBM JRE 1.3.1 with <javac> task. Please suggest ... ?

    I remember seeing that post sometime ago. And yes, your guess is quite good. WAS 5.1 uses jdk 1.3.1
    As for Ant, if you want to use a different version class, I think you need to set "build.compiler" property. Of course, a look into Ant docs would be more helpful.
    Cheers!

  • Problem with SP6 + IE + sendRedirect

    Hello,
              We've had this problem with the sendRedirect method. Under IE (all versions
              we tested), a sendRedirect would take a considerable amount of time to
              actually perform the redirection; in fact the time it took was approximately
              equal to the KeepAliveTimeout setting within the httpd.conf file of our
              front end Apache webservers (Redhat 6.2 btw). We have two Apache servers in
              front of a cluster of two Weblogic 5.1 servers (SP6).
              Now the interesting thing is when we "downgraded" the mod_wl.so file back to
              the SP5 version, the problem disappeared. Obviously i'm not happy with
              running the SP5 version of the apache/weblogic bridge due to the various
              documented issues, so am wondering if a) anyone has seen this themselves,
              (b) got it working correctly under SP6, or c) when the hell is SP7 coming
              out. ;)
              thanks
              Carl

              Yes, I'm having this problem too with IE, i.e. taking some amount of time until
              redirection happens. But with Netscape, the redirect is fast, i.e. normal.
              I'm using Weblogic server 5.1 with SP9 (I tested with SP8 with the same result),
              Apache 1.3.12, Redhat 6.2, IE 5.0.
              When I captured the HTTP response from the server, the content-length header showed
              533. Actually the body of the response is nothing, just a line, I think. So I
              guess IE tried to receive all 533 bytes of content until the Keep alive timed
              out, after which it followed the redirection.
              I think this is a bug in Weblogic, it shouldn't spit out 533 bytes with no content.

    Hi,
    response.sendRedirect() may throw an IOException if URL not found.So you have to write throws or try & catch.

    Hi Guillaume,
    I have been "playing" with section you mentioned since yesterday, but I could reach my goal :(
    An example of the problem is as following:
    Manager 1 is added to both “Project Managers” and “Resource Managers”. Accordingly he is added to “My Projects” category permission.
    Manager2.TeamLead1 (not a descendent of Manager 1) is added to only “Project Managers” and accordingly he is added to “My Projects” category permission.
    I want (Manager2.TeamLead1)’s projects to viewable only for his Manager 2 (and the Director), not for Manager 1, because the Manager1 is not responsible for managing his work
    How can I achieve that ?? :)
    Thanks,

  • Websphere 6: JNDI problem with Sping - urgent.

    Hi,
    I have my cJSC project working fine with JNDI on my local sun app server. However when deploying to websphere I am getting problems.
    Obviously websphere is different setup and I have had to add the following to the web.xml to get a datasource
    <resource-ref>
         <description>VMS Datasource</description>
         <res-ref-name>jdbc/VMSDS</res-ref-name>
         <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
         <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    However, the app is still bombing out with following..

    Anybody used JSC and Websphere with JNDI? I go live next week and don't want to have to configure a context file each time for production.
    Regards,
    LOTI

    Is the resource ref the same as you configured for the bundled
    Sun App server ?
    We do have a sample JNDI application and tip if they help:

  • J2ee agent 2.2 configuration problem with Websphere Portal 5.1

    Hi,
    I am trying to configure j2ee agent 2.2 with Websphere Portal server.
    I have followed the document "Sun Java SystemAccess Manager
    PolicyAgent 2.2 Guide for IBM WebSphere Portal Server 5.1.0.2"
    Please see the thread "Problem with Sun's SSO system and Websphere Portal Server integration" for environment related information.
    Also the security on app server has been enabled and is talking to LDAP.
    My aim here is to enable application server (portal server) to autheticate requests.
    I am getting following error when I log into the portal application.

    From whatever analysis I have done so far, I believe this issue is related to the personal certificate for sun one webserver (on which access manager & LDAP are installed) not registered with the application server (portal server).
    I am not sure about the way I go by solving the issue.
    Please can anybody help me out.
    Thanks,
    Yaseer

    I think the installation of planning on Vista is difficult. As some of the files doesn't support even i am tired of doing that.
    But tell me one thing have you installed all other products , I mean Essbase, (server, client) , AAS and Shared services.
    Are they working good .
    I have formatted my system to XP and installed everything , but the problem is when i install planning it prompts me that IIS 5 should be greater other wise EPM will not install...
    there are lot of things with planning 1) i can't datasource as it is not highlighting when we configure with Shared services
    2) It does not create product instance .
    If any one can fix this thing by giving me a suggestions.
    Advance Thanks

  • Viewing Excel Files using Tomcat - Problem with caching

    Hi all,
    A small part of an application I'm writing has links to Excel files for users to view/download. I'm currently using Tomcat v5 as the web/app server and have some very simple code (an example is shown below) which calls the excel file.
    <%@ page contentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" %>
    <%
    response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
    response.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);
    response.sendRedirect("file1.xls");
    %>
    This all works except but I'm having one big problem.
    The xls file (file1.xls) is updated via a share on the server so each month, the xls file is overwritten with the same name but with different contents. I'm finding that when an update is made to the xls file and the user then attempts to view the new file in the browser they recieve only the old xls file. It's caching the xls file and I don't want it to. How can I fix this so that it automatically gives the user the new updated file.
    The only way I've managed to get Tomcat to do this is to delete the work directory and delete the file from my IE temp folder and then restart Tomcat - this is a bit much!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I'd a problem with caching a few years back, for a servlet request which returned an SVG file.
    As a workaround, I ended up putting appending "#" and a timestamp / random number after it. The browser assuming each request was new, and didn't use the cache.
    Eg.
    http://myserver/returnSVG.do#1234567
    where 1234567 is a timestamp / random.
    Not sure whether you can do this on a file based URL... but maybe worth a shot...
    regards,
    Owen

  • Problem with application server shutdown when connecting

    Hi Friends,
    I am new to J2EE applications.
    I developed a web application that uses jxl and mysql for reading excel sheets. The host I am working on is supposed to be the server. The application I am running is working absolutely fine, by creating a directory and saving the excel file in my webapps folder and inserting the data to the database. But the minute I send the file from client system, there is a sudden shutdown in my server.
    I am sending the jsp and java code related to this application and related log file..
    I guess the main problem is with sending the exact path from the remote client, rest all is fine including excel and database interactions.
    I commented the database interaction class just for now as I don't think there is a problem with it.
    I am using Tomcat 4.1, MySQL 3.23

    Regards

    The VERY FIRST message in the server log gives you a hint as to what the problem might be. The server thinks you have spaces in your PATH to the application server. Therefore, the solution is to kill the server however you need to (task manager, whatever) and then reinstall it in a path that doesn't contain spaces. That's the low-hanging fruit here; if that doesn't work, well, then we will have to find some other solution.

  • Problem with EM (Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database)

    Hi all,
    I've Oracle DB 11g Rel.1 installed on Windows XP SP3. The database is up and running i.e. everyone can connect to the DB by using any App tool e.g. SQL*Plus, Forms, or Reports. It means that the listener and the service is running. But the problem is that when I try to start the EM I see some error messages on the webpage.
    It says:
    Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.Database Instance (Green arrow)
    Status     Open                         Details     The instance is open.
    Host          shiman

    Location     d:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\network\admin
    Details
    please see the attached file:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/404840300/em.JPGI've already checked all the services, they are running. And when I execute emctl command I got the following message.
    emctl status dbconsole
    Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control Release 11.1.0.6.0
    Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    http://shiman:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
    Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.I have checked some documents around config files in sysman and test_orcl\sysman directories. Moreover, I have checked dbsnmp and sysman account for unlockness and password accuracy. But they did not help me to solve the problem.
    My question is if every thing is working fine then what is the problem with the EM? Why it is not connecting to the DB?
    Thanks.
    Iman

  • There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (4:4)

    Trying to open a streamed PDF in an IFRAME in Internet Explorer 9 on my Win7 64bit machine.
    This results in the following dialog:
    There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (4:4)
    The PDF is streamed (not read from disc) from a servlet in our Java WebSphere environment and the call looks like this:
    https://intranetserver.com/myapplication/OpenDocumentServlet.pdf?documentToOpenID=1
    The Servlet sets content-type header application/pdf and content-length and writes the bytes to the buffer.
    Does the error dialog even come from Acrobat? When the dialog opens there is no active AcrReader process visible in task manager.
    Please advise!

    Solved. Our IT dept. responsible for packaging and deployment repacked and redeployed 11.0.9. Unknown what changes were made to make it work.

    I don't know what acrofix.exe is; can you explain?
    Issue
    Nothing happens when you launch Acrobat 30 days after installing a CS6 suite.
    Solutions
    Important: Perform the solutions below in order. Do not continue further if an earlier solution resolves the problem.
    Solution1: Install the patch for Acrobat installed as part of a CS6 (Windows Only)
    1.   Log in to your Windows computer as an Administrator.
    2.   Click the following link to download the patch file:
    Acrofix.zip
    3.   When prompted "Do you want to open or save this file?,” click Open.
    4.   Extract the file. The location varies depending on your operating system and the utility.
    5.   Double-click the extracted Acrofix.exe to begin the execution.
    6.   If the execution is successful, Command Prompt closes automatically.
    7.   When the execution is complete, launch Acrobat.
    or
    Solution2: Install the patch for Acrobat installed as part of a CS6 using Command Prompt (Windows Only)
    1. Run the Command Prompt as an Administrator.
    2. Navigate to the location of the extracted hot fix in Solution 1 (Step 4).
    3. Type Acrofix.exe to execute it.
    4. If the execution is successful, Command Prompt shows Exit Code:0
    5. When the execution is complete, launch Acrobat.
    Solution 3: Reactivate Acrobat through another Suite product
    I will try your cleaner, thanks
